I don't know why? It's never happened before... I have windows 7 on my laptop Toshiba L505-S5990. Please help me in this

First, go to control panel, mouse and check the settings.  Experience if you wish because it does no harm.

If the settings are correct, but the computer does not correctly, go to configuration panel, devices Manager and look at mose settings here.  Maybe there was an update driver - try to roll back driver or search for a better driver.

Look for the manufacturer of your site support & forums to see if new drivers are available, or if someone else has solved the problem already.

If none of this works, close this post & open a new one with a list of all the controls, you did & what were the results.

    Another interesting fact:
After the reconstruction the new disk, user account control does not recognize Windows programs.
for example: execution of Perfmon.exe, the Publisher is unknown! However, when I download the program Windows FixIt, Publisher is recognized as Microsoft Windows. It seems that user account control does not recognize the Windows programs that had found the new HD, but acknowledges those who is downloaded from the internet.
I guess there is a problem with the license, Windows was preinstalled on the Toshiba and replace the hard drive could have caused a few conflicts of licensing.

The message of PXE boot that you receive when you start your computer has nothing to do with your CD/DVD-Rom drive. Your computer uses a PXE boot method to attempt to load Windows from a location on your network. Since you do not have this configuration, it is safe to ignore it. If it slows down the startup time of your system, contact your manufacturer and ask them for instructions on how to "disable PXE Network Boot of the BIOS.

  • Update of Windows XP does not work, how do I stop the Office 07/10 updates?

For these last months, the web version of Windows Update does not work with XP. When you click on the button for Express or custom installation, the stalls of system looking for updates. So I had to put windows to warn me of updates instead of going on the site, but now it keeps wanting to download me updates for Office 2007 and 2010, but I do not own these products (I use Office 2003).  I could not stop, even when I ticked the box does not warn me of those more. Finally I went to the site and found an option to disable Microsoft Update, which said I could always download the updates to the site, but I can't because he's trying to force me to re - download Microsoft Update.

What is going on?  I don't like the new Microsoft Update as it keeps nagging me to download updates for the products that I have not yet owned. How can I update Windows XP only?  This is very fustrating.

    Hi Steve,.

    Follow these steps.

Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel and double click on automatic updates. I'll explain why later.

Then, tick the option at the bottom to turn off automatic updates, and then click apply/OK.

Then, go to start, run, copy and paste this command and click OK: services.msc

In the list of Services, you can see Background Intelligent Transfer Service ?

Here's a pix what he looks like.

If it is not listed, follow these steps to register the BITS service.

Open the Windows search tool, copy / paste the following text, and then click Search: qmgr.dll

Research should show this file in the following locations:

    C:\Windows\System32
    C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\bits

You might only see qmgr.dll in C:\WINDOWS\system32 depending on your configuration.

Then, go to start, run and copy/paste: regsvr32 qmgr.dll and click OK

Do the same with this file: regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll

Reboot the system and then copy / paste this command into the field run:
    %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi, InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\inf\qmgr.inf

If you are prompted to insert the Windows installation CD, ignore this and in the dialog below, replace the path C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

If you could only see the file in C:\WINDOWS\system32, change the path to that instead.

Restart the PC and then go to the Services and you should be able to see BITS in the list.

Double click on it and then on the general tab, click the Start button to start the service manually. This is just a test to make sure that it works correctly.

If you get 2 error: cannot find the specified file, click on start, then run again and copy / paste the following command, and then click OK:
    Tracking Add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS\Parameters /v ServiceDll /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /d %windir%\System32\qmgr.dll

Reboot again and try once more to start the PIECES. It should work fine now, but in the unlikely case where it fails again, run the following command, and then press ENTER:
    Reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup

Reboot once more and then do the following.

Go to this link and install the IE8 December Update:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-GB/download/details.aspx?ID=41404

If you use IE7, use this link instead:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-GB/download/details.aspx?ID=41442

Finally, go to the Windows Update site and you should be able to download normally.

If this is the case, re - enable automatic updates in Control Panel.

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community. I understand that the Windows Installer does not work on the computer windows vista. I also noticed that there is another thread of yours, with the same question, and the thread was answered by Yaqub K August 30, 2012.
Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Error updating Windows 10: does not work if the PC is joined to the domain

    Hello notnewbee,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

You do not give the model of your printer/scanner/fax machine so I can't direct you to the website of the manufacturer of specifc. However, I would
you go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer and download the latest drivers for Windows 7. Sometimes, if you use a driver that is not intended for your operating system, then your device can operate and install, but some features may not work.

If they do not have an updated driver, then try the compatibility mode for Windows XP and see if your printer will work correctly.
The information below will show you how you can make older programs run on Windows 7 here.

If please reply back and let us know if this helps solve your problem or if you still need help.

    Sincerely,
