Flash and Safari

In the last few weeks I have been doing reviews from some journalistic sites telling me that I need Flash to view their videos.   Here's a representative sample:

To smile, a few days ago, I downloaded again the installer of Flash Player.  Re-Setup made no difference.

My computer has Adobe Flash Player 22.0 r0 and flashplayer.xpt.  I'm in Safari Version 9.1.1 (11601.6.17).   I have tried all the other browsers.

As I said, this is a new problem.   Everybody recognizes the problem?

It is the site of the BBC, is it not? You can try to uninstall Flash (https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html) and reinstall.

There is also a workaround solution. In Safari > Preferences > advanced select the background option (menu Developer). You get a new menu item, click on it, select User Agent and chose one of these iOS (iPhone, for example). Reload the page from the BBC, and that's your video works - without Flash. Just like that.

  • Performance problems of YouTube with Flash Player 14.0.0.155 on Mavericks and Safari

    Very unstable. When I open a video on YouTube or another site. The quality is terrible! Automatically select the best quality (HD). I have to click on the gear change. Video

    stop and start and won't play not smooth or sometimes not at all. I use the latest version of the Mavericks and Safari. Same thing with the latest version of Firefox.

    Any suggestions?

    I see the behavior where YouTube always comes back to Auto through all the browser, and it happens to both the Flash and HTML5 players.  I would recommend that you report the problem to YouTube.  We have a good working relationship with them, and their team of engineers will reach if it is indeed a problem of Flash.  From what I see, it's the behavior defined by YouTube.

  • Why links inside my Flash site work correctly in Firefox 3.6.1 and Safari 5.0.2? Canany

    No idea why this is? Both the latest versions of firefox and Safari can not display e-mail links. For some reason, they don't parse or the "mailto:".

    I would be very gratefull for any comment.

    Thank you!

    I noticed the same problem (with firefox). If you change the settings for mailto (Tools/options/applications) 'always ask' so it doesn't seem to work (ie: you get a popup asking what email application to use), but it's not very good for users...

  • Video Flash and flicker on the websites Gifv

    Since the upgrade to Sierra, I noticed a strange problem. Video on Facebook and Youtube Embedded flash flashes quickly.  I noticed in Google Chrome and Safari. I've upgraded to the latest Chrome and the latest version of flash player for both browsers. This happens when watching an animated GIF as well encoded as GIFV.

    FWIW, YouTube uses HTML5 for quite some time, so flash won't have anything to do with it. Chrome has built-in flash so there's no need to download flash to Chrome.

    I'm not on Facebook so I can't comment on that. I don't know where I can test a GIFV and I don't know why she would need flash.

  • My version of Firefox is updated, I restored to default settings Firefox, restarted, I downloaded the latest version of Flash and it won't work, it crashes...

    Mac, OS x 10.6.8 (updated), Firefox 28.0 (updated). Adobe Flash has been downloaded and no videos will work on all web pages using Firefox. I have reset the settings by default and restarted Firefox. I get the message that Adobe Flash broke down. Shut down the computer, restarted. Same thing. Uninstalled Flash and videos run but very agitated, jumps of 5 second increments after freezing. Firefox hangs and must be stopped by force. Installed an older version of Flash and it will work, but I get a warning that it is vulnerable. I crossed it several times and checked all my updates and they are the most recent available. Videos are running on either the latest version of Safari.

    I'm happy to have helped. Thanks for laying back.

    Remember to follow any progress, because I hope a fix will be available and you do not want to stay on Flash 12 unnecessarily.

  • What to use instead of Adobe Flash with Safari

    Hello, after reading about Flash I uninstalled it on my computer. Now when I go on a site that uses Adobe Flash, what can I use instead? I use Chrome and it plays the video on sites requiring Adobe Flash as Safari can not play. Chrome, what makes that Safari does not? Both Chrome and Safari are the latest versions for OS X 10.11.2

    Best regards, John

    Use Chrome when you visit sites that require Flash Player.

    Chrome browser comes with Flash Player plugin that is not integrated, Safari.

  • Flash Player (Safari Internet plug-in) (not answer)

    "Flash Player (Safari Internet plug-in) (not responding)."

    I get this message on every 10-15 minutes for the last week. I took in my window "Applications to leave power" while leaving open so I can kill Flash Player as quickly and efficiently as possible. (It turns out that this also force-farm in an unexpected way the message 'Content of Web of Safari (not responding)' accompanying.) So I'm good for another 10-15 minutes until another opportunity rolls for Flash Player freeze my browser screen.

    This problem started shortly after I've upgraded to Mac OS X 10.10.3 (+ supplement) and Safari 8.0.5. I downloaded Flash Player 3 times last week (lately Version 17.0.0.169 earlier today), but nothing helped. The only thing that seems to help to screw up the Flash Player plugin to my "Internet Plug-Ins" folder But then, of course, I've been GROUND next time I shot a Web site that required it.

    How can I make this problem go away?

    I never had the time to try the suggested disabling hardware acceleration. Before I received the suggestion, someone else says ' Hey, have you tried the old standard to turn your computer off and back on again? I didn't, so I tried it, and he made the problem go away. I probably should have just come back here and reported as well. Bad me.

  • I use two browsers, Firefox and Safari. What I need to install twice, once launch each browser?

    I use two browsers, Firefox and Safari OS x 10.9.4.  Do I have to install Flash twice - once to launch each browser?  Or the card lies in a sort of cache, connecting on any browser he committed?

    Hello maxlexs,

    No, you don't have to install twice.  The same plug-in lies in a location accessible by Safari and Firefox and works in both browsers.

  • Flash and Shockwave Players problem?

    Had installed Flash and Shockwave without incident. All of a sudden, I started to see messages indicating that I need to be or to view a particular site. Checked "all programs" and any site on the list. However, programs appear in Control Panel under files to remove. Page from Adobe where you can check if a program is installed shows two installed programs. Restalling attempts appear successful, but still programs do not display in "All programs" and still receive messages that the programs must be installed. In Control Panel I see Adobe Flash Player11 Pliug in Adobe Flash Player 12 Active X and Adobe Shockwave Player 12.0. Not a powerful computer user. What Miss me? Using Windows 7, IE 11.

    Flash Player is a "plug-in", NOT a soft, so you will NEVER find it in the folder program files or in the start menu.  The two physical files in C/Windows/System32/C:\windows\system32\macromed/Flash and C/Windows/SysWOW64/C:\windows\system32\macromed/Flash.

    But...

    IE11 is a 'rolling Train wreck. " Combined with 8.1 it is, without a doubt, the worst bunch of garbage to EVER come out of Redmond, WA. Even with WIndows 7, it's a mess, but not ALL THE TIME as it is with 8 or 8.1

    MS has deliberately changed the "User-Agent strings" to make it almost IMPOSSIBLE for pages and sites ID it. (See: Screwed of IE11 up channels User-Agent)

    The pages may not recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication they have any plan to address it quickly.

    Recommendation from Microsoft is to use compatibility view for the relevant pages and "pretend" you are using a different browser. Problem with that is it has been a success limited at best, and you will need to activate individually for EACH page that has problems.

    I'm not big on "pretend" so I recommend you to use another browser.

    Firefox (from Mozilla)

    Opera (from opera)

    Safari (from Apple)

    Chrome (from Google)

    NO one who will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player plug-in (for all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't have same because it has its own plugin Flash Player built in.

  • Keys Flash and IE 5.2 for Mac

    I must be overlooking something. I joined a Flash file in a Dreamweaver htm page for use of buttons. Works fine in all browsers except IE for Mac version 5.2. Works fine in Internet Explorer for windows and Firefox for Mac and Windows, for both Netscape, opera is buggy, but the buttons work and Safari works. In IE 5.2 for Mac, it comes and works visually, but the buttons don't send links.

    ActionScript to buttons is as follows:

    companies_btn.onRelease = function() {}
    getURL (" http://www.aci-insurance.net/test/ACI_companies.htm", "_self");
    }

    I am using java script:

    < div class = "style5" id = "firstflash" > as you see this, you have not installed Flash Player.     fo.addParam ("quality", "high");
    fo.addParam ("wmode", "transparent");
    FO. Write ("firstflash");
    < /script >
    < /p >

    I tested it with class object stir (same problem) I don't want to use it because of IE for windows problems, but it is useful to see that it meets the same thing:

    < object classid = "clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase ="" http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6, 0,29,0 ' width = "180" height = "370" > "

    What I am doing wrong if it works everywhere but IE for Mac? Anyone know of a work around? The web site is done in part and I have it on the test server:

    Any help would be appreciated.

    OK, basically answered my own question. Here is a cut and paste from Mactopia:

    INTERNET EXPLORER FOR MAC IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

    In June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no further development and support would cease in 2005. In accordance with the published lifecycle support policies, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31, 2005 and does not provide any further security or performance updates.

    Therefore, as of January 31, 2006, Internet Explorer for Mac is no longer available for download from Microsoft. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple's Safari.
