Flash cannot produce wingdings on Vista machine?

Several months ago, I created several flash files that use a checkmark wingdings.  Recently I had to update these files, and each of them now appear as equivalent to Arial (u-umlauted).  It shows that the umlaut in FLA and SWF.  Selecting the u unlauted, looking at properties confirms that the police is set to wingdings.  Copy of a check mark of wingdings off another app and paste it into Flash, it replaces immediately for the umlaut.  In fact, change to any font just makes a slightly different umlaut.  The simple question is, ' what has changed between when he worked, and when he's not? ' and the answer is that I'm not sure.  This is the same installation of Flash, the same machine, same OS, etc.

I tested with their colleagues.  Those who open the same exact file on XP machines see the check mark.  Those who open the same exact file on other Vista machines see umlaut.  I have an XP machine on my left and a Vista computer to my right, and I see a check mark both an umlaut off the coast of Florida even

I tried Googling help and I see a few reports of the present.  It always seems to involve Vista machines, but Vista was not yet considered (that I saw) as the culprit.  Suggestions usually emphasize Wingdings is not being installed, or the need to incorporate the police, etc.  With the process of elimination, that we used, Vista actually seems to be the antagonist here.

We can fix it pretty easily... have someone with XP manage the publication, or the check mark bitmap, etc..  But I wonder if anyone has come across this or know what aspect of Vista does not play well with Flash?

THX!

If you have not incorporated the police into the textfield (s), then you should.

original title: VISTA machine can see XP machines in local network, cannot connect

I have a 3 computer home network that has worked very well for many years, but it is usually just used by 3 machines to access the Internet.  Very rarely a computer does enter a file out of one of the other machines, but this feature has certainly worked in the past.

Machine 1: Desktop/VISTA/setting up a connection to the router

Machine 2: Desktop/XP/setting up a connection to the router

Machine 3: Computer connection laptop/XP/wireless to the router

All the machines, automatic update of Windows and all the computers are running Norton Security Suite, which is also updated automatically.  Norton Security Suite is a relatively new introduction to the network.

2 XP machines see that all 3 computers in the network each has access to the other.  2 XP machines can not "reach" the VISTA ("the network path was not found") which could be correct, because machine that I never shared something on this machine, although sharing file and printer sharing * are * on.

On the VISTA machine click on network and sharing Center and then see the full plan shows 3 machines in the group.  But, then clicking on view computers and devices results in the network window, which shows that the VISTA as a computer machine and a media device.  No XP computer to connect to.

The VISTA machine can ping machines (Machine 2 ping or ping Machine 3) XP, but XP machines can't ping the VISTA.  In fact, it's quite strange; If I 'ping Machine 1' of one of the machines XP ping command reports "Pinging Machine 1. (Name of working group) "[208.68.143.50] with 32 bytes of data", then he received 4 requests, responses has expired.  I have no idea where this name - the name of my PC added on behalf of the Working Group - and the IP address belongs to a computer somewhere in Massachusetts!  (I'm in California).

Rattling of the VISTA machine using its IP internal, as reported by the router just translates into 4 requests, responses has expired.

I worked on it for hours now, after trying all of the 'standard' patches with no improvement.  Given the Windows error message when one of the XP machines trying to access the VISTA - "the path not found network" machine as opposed to they access denied response - and the ping odd response when you use the name of the machine, I have the feeling that the things in the list of standard control is not the problem.

    Any thoughts?

I finally reduced to the Norton Security Suite firewall.  Don't think that was the issue that the 2 XP machines are also running Norton Security Suite and is working very well.  Penetrating machines XP 2 'Total confidence' confidence level - which doesn't seem to be necessary according to the news 'aid' to Norton that I read over and over again - cured the problem.

  • Flash 8 very slow on Vista

    Hello

I just installed Windows Vista and Flash 8 Professional. Flash works so slow with Vista especially when when you create a clip then double click on it to go to like 7 - 10seconds to enter the clip inside. It's weird. I know this isn't my Machine because I have a fairly decent PC and I have no problem with XP.

Is there an update for Flash and Vista?

    Here some quick Specs:
    AMD 64 X 2 (dual core) 4800 +.
    Corsair 2 GB RAM
    1 TB hard drive (4 x 250 GB)
    2 x nVidia 7900GT in SLi mode

So, what gives? Anyone else having this problem?

    Thank you!

I had this same problem. Fortunately, there is an easy solution.

Find the flash.exe file in the macromedia/flash program directory. Right-click and select Properties. Go to compatibility and choose Windows XP Service Pack 2 in compatibility mode. Run the .exe file. It must switch your display settings Windows basic while in the program, but should be fixed zoom offset.

  • Install Labview application on vista machine.

A fairly new programmer, I wrote an application in Labview 8.6 and built an installer which works fine on XP but when I try to install it on a Vista machine, I get an error as follows:

    z:\...\Volume\setup.exe the parameter is incorrect.

As I say on XP Pro, no problem.  Anyone has any ideas that might help?

I guess the z: drive letter you are trying to install the software from a network drive. Try to copy the Setup program on a local drive and install from there. I had problems calling installers directly from network resources in Vista.

  • Why am I asked to install the updates for xp in my vista machine?

At the risk of sounding really stupid... I dare ask this question: Why am I being asked to install the xp updates in my vista machine?  Updates are automatically presented, and the installation failed... After reviewing the updates that failed to install I noticed that they were all updates of security for XP and not vista.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Dutchie16,

Please contact the Forum of Microsoft Vista.

I read the question and by doing some research on this subject I think the update that you mentioned (kb 917150) and not (17150 kb).

I see that the update (kb 917150) is an update of security for office XP. This is an update to the office application and not for the operating system. We need to check two things:

1 > we do not have Microsoft office Xp installed in the system.

2 > we did an update from XP to Vista.

If 1 is true then please download the stand-alone office Xp update pack and install it. If the 2nd case is true then let me know because we have a different approach to solve the problem.

The link for the standalone pack for office Xp:

Please do not respond and so I can help again the resolution does not help.

    Kind regards

  • When I try to use transfer of files on my Windows Vista machine, I get an error saying that "this update is not available."

I have a new Win 7 laptop and want to transfer the files from my old Vista laptop. Recently I used Easy Transfer and a USB cable to do this on a machine for the wife swap so I know it works. However, when you try to load transfer them easily on my Vista machine, I get an error message that says that this update is not available. Anyone know what is the cause and what is the solution?

    Hi Michael,

    1. you try to download Windows Easy transfer?

If you transfer files from Windows vista to Windows 7, you don't have to download Windows easy transfer.

In Windows vista and Windows 7 windows easy transfer is incorporated.

  • XP, ask permission to access vista machine, but pooling has been implemented. What now?

I'm trying to share files between XP Pro and Vista the last two updates.  I followed the instructions to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Networking-home-computers-running-different-versions-of-Windows where they share the same workgroup, turned on file sharing, etc.

XP sees the Vista machine, but when I click it I get a message that it is not accessible, and I could not have permission.  These are two machines home with no separate connections.  I have admin privs on both.
I tried clicking on share and add that drive C on Vista, but the button share under network and sharing folders is grey.  I went into the button advanced and added everyone out there.  Still no joy.  I also added everyone for the Documents folder too just to see if that would help, but no.
So I'm stuck - any ideas on what to do now?
    Thank you.

    I have it!

What the video above did not include, it was that although the permissions have been set for everyone, you must also go to the Security tab, click on edit and add everyone in the box.   I hope that if anyone else has this problem that will also help.

  • Cannot connect to Windows Vista due to password problem

I have a Dell XPS computer laptop model PP28L and run Vista Home Premium. When I bought the computer I bought in a pawn shop. Of course it was sold with no records at all. No recovery or restore of Windows disks. I have a valid Microsoft "proof of License'for my Vista Home Premium. Should I be reinstall Windows and if yes how I'd get the disks.

    * original title - cannot connect on Windows Vista Home Premium because someone changed my password, deleted my ID of the administrator and the guest connection. I am in the *.

Your only option is to do a clean install of Vista.  There is no free, download of the disk.  Contact the manufacturer of the computer and they may be willing to sell you a set of recovery disks to reinstall the system (but you will need 23 digit product key to activate it in all probability even if sometimes it is not necessary when it is made with recovery on the same computer discs).

Here is Microsoft's policy on software lost: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246 you can see is not much help.

If you can borrow an installation disk of Vista genuine of the same size of the bit of ANYONE, you can use that with your product key to re - install the system and start over (you get a new administrator account and set your own password for him - or to leave empty that you choose).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Cannot install software on vista.

    Cannot install software on vista.

1st thing to do is to contact the manufacturer of the program.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/default.aspx

    Windows Vista Compatibility Center

And check its Vista compatibility at the link above, and if not to see what patches/solutions are available from its manufacturer...

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-compatibility-mode/

If this is not Vista compatible, read the info on the link above.
It works for some programs, but not all.

This applies to software programs, NOT hardware drivers.

If it's Vista compatible > uninstall it > Re-download/save to your desktop > right click on its Setup.exeo run as admin.

    See you soon.
