Flashing monitor

The power button on my Dell monitor started blinking on and outside, with no visible image, except a brief flash of light. I am running Windows XP and I use service pack 2. (I had a bad experience, installation of other service packs, so I am wary of update). I switched monitors and the second monitor got a picture but when I tried to load anything, the image itself blinked and off like a strobe light in the 1960s. I went from 75 to 60 Hrz and that cures the problem on the second monitor (borrowed), but my own monitor is still receiving no picture and the power button flashes. I have not updated my drivers, because of my hesitation to make changes. (I had to do a complete reinstall after trying to install a pack of update service about a year ago). All the solutions for a user not very tech?

Hi LMG935,

Given that the problem will not occur on the second monitor after changing the refresh rate, the problem may be with the screen itself.

·         You did it the same change with the offending monitor?

Log on to the sites of the respective manufacturers and update the latest drivers monitor and video.

You may need to contact the manufacturer of the monitor if this is not enough.

  • HP w2408h: flashing monitor

I have a HP w2408h monitor was blinking on and off problems since I started using it with my Pro 3 Surfact.  I ran across a few 2114 messages on this forum I found the following solution...

Step 1. Unplug the power cord at the back of the screen and the wall
Step 2. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute
Step 3. Plug the power cable in the monitor, and then to the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the factory reset option and select

I followed these steps and, so far, my monitor no longer flashes (but his periods as it had so who will live will see)

My question is about the third step.  Why can't I use a power bar or surge protector?  Why must it be plugged directly into the wall?

    Hi there@deanblakely,

That the Forums are with you!  It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, HP experts and other support staff. I understand that you want to know why we recommend that you plug directly into a wall outlet. I'm happy to help you with this.

In response to your question, it is simply to help determine if a possible cause is insufficient. Some devices require power to perform certain tasks. If you are connected through a power strip, power this decision-making is being divided between all devices connected to this power strip.

I hope that adequately addresses your concerns and if so, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

Since the upgrade from GTX 660 > 1060 sometimes my U2715H Dell (1440 p) don't seem to be getting through DisplayPort signal when connected to my new GTX 1060 and starts "flashing" black. During this time I don't see anything about, the menu of the monitor even because it is completely black. This does not always happen, during boot that can't not what I thought, but when Windows loading sometimes starts, it becomes completely back until I have swap around the cables and inputs. However my other monitor connected with HDMI seems not at all affected while the other is flashes, there no CDM or DP to test with that. So I have a flashing monitor and the other being completely affected by it.

This happens only with miniDisplayPort and DisplayPort so far, I've tried all 3 inputs on GPU and CDM and DP on monitor. This question was not present with my previous MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr, he also only CDM. When you use HDMI it seems to be normal without blinking, but I need to test again because it does not always happen. Changing resolution does not help. Allows to close the monitor for a few minutes, but it can happen again. Tried to use DDU 3 times to fix without success so far. I guess it's the driver or the GPU, doubt it's the monitor because it worked fine on previous GPU. Any ideas?

Fixed it by disabling the CSM in the BIOS. Been very well for 5 days, he became black once today, but has resumed normal again.

  • U2415, MacBook Pro retina, flashing or unavailable video

    Hello

I have a MacBook Pro of the retina (end of 2013). My company bought a Dell Ultrasharp U2415 for me. I unpacked yesterday, plugged, used for about 2 hours, then the video started to blink.

The flashes are the same as those described in the post of this Forum of Support from Dell and see in this youtube video. I've attached a video of my actual flashing monitor.

This morning, I came, only connected to the external monitor (literally the only device plugged other than the power adapter), and started working. I have 5 minutes of solid video before the flashing began. I tried reseating the cable mini display to end the monitor and the laptop and now the screen gives an error message "No. DP Cable.

I tried restarting the computer and using a different cable; no attempt to solve the problem.  Is there a solution to this problem?

    Thank you.

Fix. We do not know what problems you may face. The only Dell monitor we validated on Apple was the UP2715K. You should ask users to Apple here. If there is no specific fixes Apple / workaround solution, they need to know.

  • HP Pavilion 500-314: big problems by adding an external video card

    You are looking for assistance.

I recently bought a HP Pavilion 500-314.  Specifications are the following:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04293928

The unit includes the integrated graphics card Radeon R7 and comes with a 300w power supply

I bought this unit in large part because it states explicitly that "supports PCI Express x 16 graphics cards".  I run a quad-monitor configuration for my work and traditionally did it this using a card ATI over-pants 2450.

I tried now three different external graphics cards and can get any of them to work:

First attempt was with a VisionTec Radeon HD 5570 (point #900345).  This card supports quad-monitor configuration and requires a minimum power of 250w.  When I installed the card, the HP Pavilion beeps several times a series of 4 or 5 (can't remember which) emits a beep, but refused to send an image to a video output (either on board or the new card).

Next attempt was with an EVGA GeForce GT 610.  It's a Setup dual monitor and requires a minimum 300w power supply.  Got the same exact response as with the VisionTec (i.e. the series of beeps... computer would not start all monitors).

So both of these cards (new), I basically gave up immediately that I couldn't in the BIOS (b/c wouldn't monitors) to see what was going on.  My understanding is that the series of 4-5 beeps usually means that there is a problem of graphics card, or the card that was added doesn't have enough power.  It's frustrating, because the HP Pavilion 500-314 a supposedly a 300w power supply, which is at least equal to the minimum required for each of these cards.

At this point, I took out the ATI over-pants 2450 my old machine and tried.  This card at least has not caused the series of 4-5 beeps.  Windows has started.  However, once I log in, Windows tries to install the new (card over-pants) repeatedly, only then, the screen flashes and blinks and flashes.  Then I went into the BIOS.  The BIOS indicates that the system recognizes the card, and that the integrated video has been disabled.  However, there is always a signal coming out of the onboard video output (DVI), so it is not in fact actually disabled.  My feeling is that Windows is trying to control two separate video cards (edge + external), which is what causes the problems.  I can turn off the graphics card over-pants w/under Windows (in Safe Mode) and let the card installed, and things work fine.  However, as soon as I try and activate the card, I get endless cycle flashing monitors.

I spent a few long sessions with HP technical support and they were useless.  They claim that this is not a problem of HP as the embedded video works fine.  I find this extremely frustrating response.  I think it is a matter of HP, because BIOS doesn't seem to be properly disable the onboard video.  Not to mention that the PC can't seem to properly interface with Windows compatible 8 PCI-E cards that claim explicitly require less energy than this unit has.

I'm usually pretty computer savvy, but have reached my wits end on this one.  I'd appreciate any help anyone could provide.  I tried all kinds of combinations of variables (i.e. enabling integrated video, setting external card at the elementary level, etc.) through the BIOS, but also combinations of w/under Windows, disable integrated video, but nothing is working.

    900345 VisionTek Radeon HD 5570 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x 16

    Big_Dave,

Thanks a lot for your quick response.

The first time that I spoke with HP support, they had me disable secure boot.  Unfortunately my problems (i.e. the cards would not install correctly).  However, after reading the link you provided that I was inspired to try things one last time with a new beginning.  I uninstalled all drivers, removed all cards, re-engaged start-up secured, restarted, close, disabled secure boot, reinstalled the cards and rebooted.  And, this time, the system accepts the card GeForce GT 610.

Difficult for me to express how grateful I am to you.  I spent two weeks and countless hours trying to get this corrected.  Just I found these forums earlier wish.

  • Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit Service Pack 2 - Office suddenly abandoned internet (via e-thernet), does not connect unless I have stop and restart manually

A few days ago I pressed the space bar to wake up my (HP pavilion m8100n) office, and I met several things at once:
    1. the icon of the internet was just two monitors blinks back
    2. a box pops up saying "an audio input jack has been disconnected" (when NO such thing has happened!) and now I have no sound and just an "x"symbol next to the symbol of volume." I tried connect headphones, still no sound at all.
    3. my wireless mouse works most completely (again, I don't have anything) I had to use my Intuos3 Tablet mouse click autour.
Then I restarted the computer, unplugged and replugged the usb for wireless mouse thing, solved #3.
    #2 is still pending.
    #1 takes a strange turn.
The computer more remained in mode 'sleep', even if I told him to go to mode 'sleep', and every time he woke up upward, I had no internet (just two monitors flashing back and forth.)
I went to the Device Manager and unchecked the box that allows the computer to disable internet to save energy, at least now when it comes out of sleep, he maintains the internet.
The computer also doesn't stop- every now and again, he normally stops when I said to, but more often now I have to force it to close hold the button down.
The question of the internet has gotten worse. While we had a few problems because of the company's Internet, we called and it is resolved.
I know the router is not the problem because that all computer laptop in the House can connect to him easily.
My computer always had problems with wireless cards, is also connected to the router via e-thernet.
The only way I can work around the issue now is to stop (be it by asking the computer to stop or forcing), from, he and hope I get internet.
If I don't have internet and instead just get the flashing monitors symbol, I tried to tell the computer to restart, but this does not resolve the issue.
When it restarts, there not even internet.
I still close, wait and start again, and * hope * I have internet.

When I have no internet, and I'm trying to diagnose and repair, it always ends up by saying "Windows cannot solve this problem."
When I click on network and sharing Center, he says that I'm connected to a 'network unidentified' - which is meaningless, because when the internet works, it says that I'm connected to the private network of our House.
I tried Googling autour, but I really can't find someone else who has the problem as well as the problem of the e-thernet restart/stop.
Any help with this would be massively appreciated, I do commissions online my source of income and I need this computer to work, because it's my graphic computer.
(I've included all this other info in case it helped to identify the problem.)

All my ports usb does not as well, I found this http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/usb-device-not-recognized/ and it seems to have fixed everything! Even the problem of noise!

Sorry to have wasted your time, thank you for the quick response, however.

  • Satellite L - LCD monitor flashing black after desktop management

My LCD monitor started flashing black at startup. It is not if I sign out and then sign back in, only at startup. Can I open a session, the office charge and everything seems normal, then after about 7 seconds, everything goes black, then quickly, the bar tasks appears then disappears and then the desktop becomes visible again momentarily but turns black again. He quickly repeated it two or three times then starts normally.

Everything seems to work fine otherwise. I disabled my antivirus, so it would not start but that did not help. I did a registry clean up lately so I've restored everything back to well before it began and that has not helped either. I did a lot of installation and uninstallation of software recent but is unable to identify anything that might have caused it. This computer is about 2 years old. I have Vista 32-bit, service pack 2.

Someone at - he never seen this before or have any ideas what might be the culprit? Appreciate very much all the advice.

    Hello

I doubt that this problem has something to do with the software or some registry keys. I think that it s unwanted material.

It would be interesting to know if you notice the same problem on an external monitor. Thus, you can check if the problem is the graphics card or just the monitor internal, but in both cases, Exchange material would be needed.

  • HP x20LED monitor is blurry. Auto configuration flashes to adjust, but setting does not

    Hello

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on my Toshiba Satellite L665D.   HP x20LED second monitor is connected to the laptop.  It's blurred.  In the past, I was able to set the monitor, but it seems every time that I disconnect it and connect the monitor to another device, when I get back to connect to the Toshiba, the screen is a little blurry.

I decided it's not the monitor, but I could be wrong.  I have a Thinkpad T530 Lenova that I use for work and the monitor is clear when I connect it to this laptop.  However, when I connect the monitor to my Toshiba and I press the Auto button on the monitor, it flashes to make adjustment and it looks good for about 2 seconds, then when the flash setting is completed, the display returns to the screen blurred.  you s not terribly blurred, but after seeing how the AutoFix appears, I don't know why this setting won't stay adjusted better on-screen.

How can I get fit to stay?  I've updated the driver on Toshiba (Control Panel-> Device Manager-> maps-> ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series-> Driver-> Driver Update), but it does not solve the issue.  I don't know if it is the video card that I don't know where to find that on this laptop.

    Thank you!

    I thought about it.

In the customization --> wallpaper --> the position of the image --> 'Center'. I clicked on the 'Auto' button on the monitor and the blur has been repaired. Background theme images are now fill the entire screen instead of not completely fill.

Maybe it's a bug. I usually select "Fill" for the position of the image, but the sets were not filling the entire screen. It can depend on the theme of background selected - even if it's a pack of Microsoft. I don't know, but this fix worked in my case and maybe it will work for anyone with this problem.
