  I'm on InDesign 2014.2. Mac.

  I'm working on a fairly large book. About 14 chapters / sections, about 400 total pages. There are also hundreds of cross references, almost all of them to anchor references.

  The design of the book is as simple as possible. There is no graphics, text blocks only.

  I use a single master page, with facing pages, and a block of text type. I used it throughout the production of the book, and the primary text flow worked well, chapter after chapter. Pages have been created automatically, and automatically flowed text.

  Maybe I need to change the page size of the book, and I also have a lot of editing to do which will reduce a lot of the chapters. I wanted to make sure all pages use the main text flow to do that, go as gently as possible.

  To my dismay, I discovered that although I used systematically throughout the book master text streams, all but three of my chapters have inexplicably lost their text stream. All images in these chapters have converted into ordinary images. That I edit the book, it's playing havoc with paging and referrals.

  I tried to restore the flow of text in one of the first chapters. It's easy to do, in theory.

  • Move the first page off to the side frame
  • Delete all pages except the first page
  • Command-shift-click on the first page to restore the flow of the main text
  • Copy and paste the contents of the old frame into the primary stream restored.

  
  

  When I do, the pages to move properly, and I'm back to having a chapter with a block of primary text on each page. Unfortunately, this breaks all cross-references that refer to this newly reorganized chapter and all references to the front in this chapter.

  
  

  I tried to do all that I could imagine. Only remove the frames and not pages. Try without the busy book. Nothing works. I tried the command update cross-references in the book menu. Has nothing.

  
  

  It seems impossible to redistribute the text in a new primary master framework, without completely breaking the cross references.

  I finally found something that seems to work:

  • Create a new master page at the end of the document.
  • Go to the last page of the history of the chapter and the last history image a link to the text block type on the page that you just created.
  • In the pages palette, delete all pages in the document, with the exception of the master page that you created.

  All text will be redistributed within the frameworks of masters, and cross-references (to and from the frame) seem to be intact.

• RoboHelp 11-problem with dropdown lists fonts, size of the police and Zoom

  I have a user guide that was created before I became technical editor. I started using RoboHelp 7 and I do not know if this guide was created in an earlier version of RoboHelp. I myself upgraded to RoboHelp 9 and then to version 11. The file contains 3237 files, 480 records and the size is 64.5 MB. I had someone save me when I was away from the office. She used different fonts on certain topics than what has been used in the rest of the guide. (Arial was used in the guide, using Calibri). I am now updating of the guide and I can't change the font. When my cursor is sitting on the text within a topic title fields and police continue to Flash. Header flashes normal flashing title 1 and police Times New Roman and Arial. When I click on the drop down menu to police, I cannot select anything because the drop guard scrolling, if I try to scroll to the top menu drop-down continues dating back to Time New Roman. And it happens if fast, that I can't click on a selection. I tried you select the font in the topic and do a right click on the mouse select font. I am able to choose the font that I want, but when I click on OK, the police is not displayed in size, it should be. 12 very small poster font size. Anyone know what can cause this problem and what can I do about it? Thanks for any help you can provide.

• Problems with cross-references spots

  In FrameMaker 12, I can't reference spots to work, despite the help instructions. I created a cross-reference marker, then created the cross-reference to the marker, but he keeps inserting the entire paragraph and not only words from marker I want.

  For example:

  1. I added a marker of type reference cross to a paragraph in one of my FM files, called "user management".

  2. in another file, I created a link of my marker reference (special > referral source type cross, then selected reference markers my marker)

  3. in the type of format, I select position, which has the definition of < $paratext > as one of the constituent elements.

  Unfortunately, this procedure then inserts the text of the full paragraph, not only the marker text I want.

  If you want to do this type of reference, then using a reference spot will work. Just create a x - ref format that has the text 'Click here for details' properly formatted and the link to the spot-xref.

  If you want to link to a custom text in the paragraph, then it's more complicated, but it can be done [although that may have a building block of $markertext would be the best way to go].

  1. Create a custom color that you will use to create a text 'invisible '. [do something bright that stands out on the page]
  2. Create a paratag for the text of x - ref custm and use this custom color.
  3. Using the color > views, assign this custom color to be invisible and visible in the view 6 in view 1 (default).
  4. Switch to the view 6 (these / 6) so you can see what you are creating.
  5. In the paragraph where you need the custom text spot x - ref, insert a framework anchored with a block of text it contains (better to create on the referring page, so that you can cpy & paste as neeed) value be out column (but adjust so that it sits on top of the exact place that you want to access). Enter the required text using the x - ref paratag.
  6. Change in view 1 to make the x - ref invisible text (these / 1).
  7. You can now make the x - ref to the "custom" text FM still sees the 'invisible' content, even if it never gets when you create the output.

• AccessIBM and update of the system - BIG problem

• Update of the FP and problems with YouTube

  I've just updated flashplayer to 10.2.156.32 and now I'm having problems posting videos on YouTube.  I always get the audio, but the video does not (no x red in the corner screen, just blank where the video should appear).  I can still watch videos (and get the audiou too) on other sites, such as Yahoo!.  I am running Windows XP and IE8 (32-bit).  I tried to adjust all my security settings of variuos, Shockwave Flash Object is activated in my modules.  Ideas or suggenstions on how to solve this problem?

  Could you by following the instructions on this page to enter information system to help us figure this problem out?  In addition to the DXDiag report, if you could add also the content of that message to the email (or a link to the post) would be great!

  To solve this, I would recommend two things.  The first step to try is updating your driver video card (ATI, NVIDIA, Intel.)  It has helped a number of users, and we would be very interested to know how it works for you.  It becomes even more interesting if you can run the DXDiag report before update.

  If this does not help, the next suggestion would be to disable hardware acceleration.  The steps to do this, you can find here.

• Major trauma of the snapshot causing problems

  My mail server crashed recently and I could not restore the backup as it has more than 5 partitions and kept for lack of the restoration. In order to bring him back, I had to use flat files of a restoration of the snapshot. I used VMWare converter v 40 with flat files of the unknown and it worked.

  He was back for a little while and seemed very happy, but I couldn't run any snapshots on this. I found an article telling me to rename files vnsn and vmsx as old - I did and then I had the option/take e snapshot. To test this, I ran a snapshot for a minute and then tried to delete. Three hours later, it failed with insufficient disk space. The plan was simply to get the snapshot job, then delete the partition of 160 GB from the settings of the virtual machine, and then delete it. This would free of space in my future data fo RL store

  I now have a helper consolidated-0 only 7.8 GB of disk space and snapshot. It seems that there is a lot of snapshot that have always worked, but I don't know how.

  Is the best way to dig out me of this mess to clone the server for a new data store. I have a

  GB 1-24 C DRIVE partition

  App from 2 to 10 GB DRIVE

  DISC 3-160Gb data partition, ready to be removed

  DISK 4-30 GB Log partition

  5 to 100 GB DISK recovery partition

  6-350Gb of DISK Data Partition (RDM attached to the San) (was a virtual disk of 160 Go I still tied, but is no longer needed)

  Now, I'm stuck with a 500 GB complete data store. There are a couple of disks that have the prefixs 00004 and 000005, but there is no snapshot running before I ran it.

  Can someone please help me resolve this issue. I read that consolidate a cold clone in a new data store but I really think that I should get rid of this group helper-0 first of all - if this is the way to go.

  Disk3 (testex2k7a_2hard) as well as Disk6 (testex2k7a_5hard) can be deleted?

  In this case I prepare the operating system for the removal of the disc, stop the virtual machine and remove the disks of the virtual machine (note the names associated vmdk). After checking the virtual machine works without problem with 2 deleted virtual disks, you can delete the corresponding data store, vmdk files which should free up a lot of disk space. Then - using the Snapshot Manager - remove the existing snapshot (consolidate Helper)

  Before doing anything, I would like to check this. Please attach your last file vmware.log as well as the file testex2k7a.vmx for your next post.

  Disk6 (testex2k7a_5*.vmdk) seems strange to me. The base vmdk is smaller than snapshots, which resembles a thin provisioned disk. However a provisioning was introduced in version 4.0 and you also mentioned that disk6 is a RDM disk!

  I assumed that you have created a new snapshot and choose "remove all" in the Snapshot Manager. This, in combination with the Disk6, was probably the reason why you ran out of disk space.

  I created pojo data control. I am trying to drag and drop the level 1 of bulding1 on the bulding2 so it will be added to the bulding2. for that I packed a pojo addfloor() method and I add object floor in to list of floor of the bulding2 object. but the picture of the tree will not show the list update for bulding2.

• Hickups update to the Beta3SDK... Build references 0.9.1 file still way not 0.9.2

  I meet an obstacle to the installation of the new SDK...

  What I was doing...

  My setup is Flash Builder Burrito on Mac...

  (1) I went in the sdk files and deleted the file blackberry-tablets-sdk - 0.9.1.

  (2) then ran BlackBerryTabletSDK-Air-Installer - 0.9.2.201101111618, which installed the new sdk for 0.9.2 folder.

  (3) then I deleted the old VM simulator and installed the new simlulator via VMware

  (4) set up my password for the Simulator and settled in dev mode...

  (5) then tried to run the project.

  Got this err:

  "The SDK for the selected project does not contain the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK."

  (6) then I when to the Properties/Build Path and I noticed that 3 blackberry sdk swcs where pathed to the 0.9.1 old file...

  (7) I deleted the oldpaths and added the path to the new folder sdk as follows:

  

  (8) then I hit ok but the old paths to 0.9.1 return in the window to build paths with the new paths with this err:

  I think I ran into the same problem. try to do the following and see what the results are:

  Go to Preferences > Flash Builder > target platforms > BlackBerry Tablet OS

  After that, you should have a menu with text fields. Click on browser and choose the folder with your new SDK and click OK. After doing so that all projects have you rferencing target BlackBerry platform will be updated and you should be good to go. Hope that helps. Good luck!

  There is now an available upgrade, called generation 2 for the MD3000 (and incidentally MD3000i) available on the support.dell.com site storage array allowing > 2 TB and RAID 6 virtual drives (and other features).

  MD3000 1 includes all the generation (and MD3000i) releases to date, it should be noted with the 06.xx.xx.xx RAID Controller Module firmware version. 2nd generation RAID Controller Module Firmware version is 07.xx.xx.xx.

  PLEASE NOTE: The upgrade of the Module of generation 2 RAID Contorller is an offline OPERATION, thus all i/o to the storage Bay must be STOPPED PRIOR to the download of the update.

  The MD Firmware Cross Generation Upgrade Utility should be used to upgrade the firmware of the controller RAID 1 from generation to generation 2 Module. The utility is installed with the latest version of the Storage Manager MD as part of a selection of Management Station installation.

  NOTE: Microsoft Windows 2000 and Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 as a host what OS are not supported by the generation 2 upgrade.

  Here are the steps to apply the upgrade of the generation 2:

  -Read the applicable documentation

  -Stop all i/o to the upgraded storage array

  -Back up all data on the storage array

  -Install the upgrade of the management generation Station 2 Modular Disk Storage Manager on the management station

  I haven't looked in how many characters Unicode is implemented by the virtual keyboard and fonts included.

  But whenever in doubt, you can include your own fonts in the .css which you are sure that they contain the characters you need. They will be packaged and distributed with the application as resources such as images.
