Folder redirection to Horizon view persistent No 6.2 environment

Hi all!

I'm pretty new in the realm of VMWare, my company recently did a full migration of our VDI of Citrix infrastructure to VMWare. Aerial, the migration went a lot and our company is very happy with the performance of VMWare on Citrix, but I have still a few kinks to work.

The biggest problem of mine was folder redirection. For all our users to VDI no persistent, we redirect their Office Documents and Favorites on a network share. Generally this has always been done through Group Policy. Since the migration, I have see a lot of users when they log in their session in the morning the machines did not apply group policy and records have not been redirected. However non-persistent users, running a GPUpdate/force on the machine does little good because it requires a trunk that triggers the machine to redial again.

If someone has encountered this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Things pop couple in my head.

1 confirm that loop back processing is enabled if you apply the policy to the computer objects.

2. I always parent VM on the destination OR before I compose.  (a few reboots to destination OR for good measure)

3 AD related issues, broken off DC replication...

    All welcomed to this topic?

Unfortunately the newspapers show much... (note: they do not contain client-side logs)

one thing I thought well... since he is a computer thinClient - we have seen the questions that manufacturers computer thinClient some of their own 'management' software install on the client. He often tries to do things with usb devices (maybe try to share them between a receiver client citrix application and view client app or maybe just there is a citrix receiver application installed too). In our experience, we've seen these apps interfere between them as they try to hang the bottom of usb devices down into the kernel.

as such, could you try stop any 3rd party services - either citrix or your provider of thin client and then try again.

If the problem persists, can you be sure to also collect these log files from the computer thinclient:

    Windows client

    • %ProgramData%\VMware\VDM\logs\debug-*.txt
      AND
    • C:\Windows\Temp\vmware-SYSTEM\vmware-usbarb-*.log

    Linux client

    • default /tmp/vmware-root/VMware-view-Usbd-*.log
      AND
    • / Library/Logs/VMware/vmware-usbarbitrator -.log

for reference, the Agent-side usb connects:

    • %ProgramData%\VMware\VDM\logs\debug-*.txt

  • Manager of Persona and folder redirection

I have a small question I want to use the persona Manager, but I have the folder redirection for all of our users.  We HAVE simply to redirect certain folders like desktop, etc.  The problem happens with view.  I have a lot of doctors who insist on the use of several desktop computers (persistent and non-persistent) to do their work on a daily basis.  They use persist so they have their OUTLOOK and when they wander into an exam room that they want to use their desktop NO-persist.  I'm sure I can do what I want with management of Persona, but the folder redirection type of obstruction which.  Is there a way for me to use both so that I can get all the docs to use only a single pool of computers on the view?  Can EMU help me somehow this issue?  Your comments and suggestions are welcome.  Thank you!

    Perry

It can all be done with non-persistent desktops.

It is generally recommended to configure the folder redirection for desktop, downloads, documents, etc when you use persona... This keeps the amount of data replicated by persona to a minimum.  It goes the same for EMU.  Management of character has its own folder redirection settings strategy, which is what I use in my deployments.

  • Folder redirection of blackBerry Smartphones

I'm relatively new to BB, but I think that most of the time I understood it. I use Exchange and the BES. Catalog of all the subfolders in my Inbox upward on my Storm and I use the selected folder redirection but the Desktop Manager but still no e-mail messages are appearing in the selected folders?

I am at a loss. Any help would be great.

    Hello and welcome!

You say that you have the active folder redirection through DM, but you do not see the messages. I assume you mean that you do not see them on the storm? But you see on your Desktop Outlook? If so, they probably are not yet configured for synchronization on your handheld. Check the following:

    1. When inside the list of Messages, click on the BB (the button to the right of the green phone button) button
    2. Select Options
    3. Select the e-mail settings
    4. Change the first box (Message Services) what she is called to your BES mail (if you have only BES to come through, then it is likely that the available selection only)
    5. Click BB button again, and then select the Folder Redirection
    6. Whatever what is indicated in this list with a + sign is a view reduced... develop those which may contain your desired folders
    7. Make sure that the box next to your desired folders are not black - just click to change their
    8. Whatever it is black won't be sync BES... whatever this color will be (probably blue)

Note that you probably WON'T get old messages to your BB. BB / BES are not designed to synchronize your handheld to the mailbox of the server. On the contrary, they are designed to deliver new messages to the handheld device, which means that only new messages delivered to your subfolders will come to your handheld once folders are enabled for synchronization (per above).

  • BlackBerry smartphones ~ a HELP of EMERGENCY NECESSARY ~ Folder Redirection only shows Desktop - no box to letters or records

Hi all.  I need help as soon as possible please. I have searched, but probably did not use the right conditions to refine what I was looking for.  But I need someone who can help as soon as possible.

I have a client with a Bold 9700, I've updated since a curve 8230-, but had similar questions.  In any case, the customer has several folders and rules in Outlook 2007 to move the items in those folders.

The problem: when I navigate to Options > e-mail settings > Folder Redirection - shows desktop only and it is not extensible.   If I choose to view the folders, I see that browser and nothing related to Outlook folders.  We use the synchronization for ALL wireless and DM is not available for the Office of the customer. (yes I know...)

    What I tried:

    Activation of a new device.

Remove CMIME and sending Service books.

    Updated the encryption key

I checked the BES (5.02) to display the parameters of Redirection of customers, I can see the folders and that they are selected, but not on camera.

    Please... Please... Help!

And thank you for all the suggestions.

  • Problems with the Folder Redirection with Persona management, discovers 6.2.0

    Hi all

I use Persona configuration management to the top of the folder redirection. Office, Documents and bookmarks are copied to the location redirected when you first login. When the user connects again, persona does not load these elements in the redirected folders, but creates rather their local copies. It's strange.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Loc.

    Thank you h3nkY,

We have set up the Folder Redirection in our environment finally! It works for all except for users who are members of domain admins. This is a limitation of view Persona. In addition, who move document/records existing Persona to redirected folder was transparent without any downtime.

  • Folder redirection folders and writable Volumes

If we use the folder redirection via GPO for our desktop view and also deploy writable volumes, how can we be sure that writable volumes does not store the same file data which is already redirected? For example, if a user stored a 20 GB on the desktop file, and we have the folder redirection by storing this safe to say the home directory of the user, how can we ensure that accessible volumes in writing is not to store this 20 GB file too?

    Thank you

    Hey Iforbes,

We also use the folder redirection in our virtual machine as well as writable volumes.

As a reference, Appvolumes does nothing different that would make a 'normal' Windows machine I mean, it's that writable volumes stores no information that is not written on their local drive.

If you configure the folder redirection and files of succeeeds redirection of files stored on the homedrive because windows sees this directory as the location to store the information, it is not stored locally. However, if for the folder redirection for some reason fails and that the Office IS stored locally, information will be saved in the accessible volume writable.

Because the folder redirection is performed at the opening session that it is already in place when the user connects so information will not be stored on the available volume in writing. We do this successfully with desktop, my documents (and subfolders) and downloads and it works like a charm.

  • Horizon view Agent 6.0.2 Windows 8.1 desktop - size setting display scale causes mouse which will be pasted in the top left corner

    Hello

I am having some problems when I try to adjust the size to the scale option in the Virtual Office Windows 8.1 with view agent 6.0.2. When I try to change the scale via Control Panel -> display -> option to change the size of all the items ( view failover control settings is disabled by VMware KB: Settings tab is not available in the display panel of a Horizon view desktop locally when t...). After that, the mouse pointer gets suddenly blocked until the upper-left corner, and I'm unable to move the mouse pointer on this corner that the mouse pointer continues new jump in him. When I change the scale to the original (use the keyboard to change the setting), the behavior of mouse pointer returns to normal.

    Anyone else having this problem?

Found the solution by adding a registry entry:

    Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Teradici\PCoIP\pcoip_admin_defaults

    Name: pcoip.disable_cursor_jumping

    Type: REG_DWORD

    Data: 1

After that it is defined on the parent image and recomposed (or reboot if you want to set this on a persistent desktop computer), there is no more mouse pointer jumps after changing the scale of the fonts/AC.

This was indeed listed in KB here — not exactly the problem listed in the KB, but it is quite similar:

  • Cannot get Horizon view 5.3.1 to use Windows CA certificate issued

    Hello

I have a Horizon view 5.3 vConnection Server installed and wanted to replace the self-signed certificate with one of my MS Enterprise CA (Win 2008 R2 Ent).

I followed the instructions of these two pages, I think exactly:

Terence Luk: certification for VMware view Horizon 5.2 with Microsoft Enterprise certification authority servers http://terenceluk.blogspot.co.UK/2013/04/issuing-certificates-for-VMware-horizon.html

    http://www.derekseaman.com/2012/09/create-VMware-Windows-CA-certificate.html

    I took the steps:

On my Win 2008 R2 Ent (standalone) CA, I reproduced the compatible under Windows 2003 CA Web server certificate template.

Changed the use of the key to activate non-repudiation and "allow encryption of user data.

Authentication of the Client added to enforcement strategies

Confirmed that the name of the topic has been set to "provide in the request.

Confirmed the vConnection Server computer account has the required permissions (btw, I even gave total control and the problem persists - is not a permissions problem)

Added the new model to the list available to be issued (CA MMC > Certificate Templates > New > model certificate for the question)

From the vConnection server, I open the MMC snap-in certificates, computer store

I asked a new personal certificate from my CA and selected the newly created model

I have completed only the FQDN internal of my server vConnection CN: [CN = "vmwv-vncenctn - 01.mydomain.local"]

I updated the friendly name and description "vdm".

I changed the friendly name of the empty self-signed certificate

I restarted Windows vConnection server just to make sure that all the necessary services were restarted

I cannot now connect to during a service of vConnection's web management interface - Page cannot be found.  If I have the friendly name of vdm revert to the original self signed certificate and restart services, access is restored.

Please can someone help me with this.  I spent two days pulling my hair and getting nowhere.

    Thank you

I arrived on the solution after you follow through with your suggestion above. • Share permissions Windows Server R2 2012 - Folder Redirection-

    Hi all

    I have a simple question:

I'm following the instructions below to create shares folder redirected to a Windows 2012 R2 file server.

    https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-GB/library/jj649078.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Orientation specifies the minimum NTFS permissions for users to create their own records in respect of each redirect root action - that I followed.

However, management does not have the minimum share permissions required for each action.

I found some old directions below that specify minimum share permissions required for each action - this guide is connected to Server 2003 however:

    https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775853 (v = ws.10) .aspx

This policy specifies the minimum share for each share of redirection root permissions.  He says that the Everyone group requires no authorization. When I create each action, the default permissions correspond to the "Everyone" group full control.

    So my question is:

It's recommended to let everything everyone default permissions under total control, or should I uncheck the boxes allow for reading, editing and full adjustment - actually no permissions for the Group everyone on each action of the root.

    Thank you
