Force connection in archivelog mode

Hello!!!

What happens if I 'force_logging' parameter to true when the database is in archivelog mode?

Thank you.

Hi Juamd,

You should only use this option when it is necessary because this option will generate by force to redo for all Nologging operations which means that you might find more archives and you can set up more space for the archives.
Normally we use this option when we need replicate changes to data in a database to a different database in the configuration of the day before, Golden Gate replication etc.. I suggest monitor you Redo amount produced after activation of this option and estimate accordingly archival space and space for the archives.

Thank you...

Your standby database health seems good and is in phase with the primary. Mistakes "hearbeat failed", you've seen, maybe during the RMAN duplication, Eve could have been returned a couple of times, who would have said these errors in the primary alert log file.

  • How to put pluggable database in archivelog mode?

    Hello

I'm putting a database plug-in in archivelog mode, however, I'm not sure how to proceed. So far I mounted by PDB and tried the underside of the root container.

ALTER database connect to < name > archivelog;  -This returned an error

    Then I connected to the PDB and tried;

ALTER database archivelog; -It also wrong

I must be missing something simple - can someone put me out of my misery!

    Kind regards

    David

You can't put a plug-in database in archivelog mode, there is no independent log files that can be archived. (Although you can recover a single database plug-in and maybe even make a for a pluggable database resetlogs).

Either the entire base is in archivelog mode, or none of it.

  • I get BSOD after Bios flash, can connect in safe mode.

    Hi all

I use a laptop HP DV3145 DX, OS is win 7 Home Basic (it came with the laptop).

A few days ago my screen started to behave erratically. The lower part of the screen is blurred and was unreadable. So I have updated Bios with the HP support assistant.

After I flashed the bios, I could connect to windows, but every time I log on to the windows it crashed (BSOD) after 30 to 60 seconds.

I could connect to the computer in safe mode

    That's what I did

    1. connected in safe mode and disabled all startup program (used Msconfig), with the exception of microsoft. This did not help.

2 activated the player HP_tools disk management and I see the Bios, Bios_new file is there.

Now, what should be my next step? I want to factory reset as my last option, I have a lot of settings, digital certificates, backups of phone in this machine, those who are important to my work.

I think to Flash the Bios to the previous version to see if that helps. Now, I don't consider myself a very experienced user. So if anyone can tell me how to Flash the bios to the older version, I'll be grateful.

I would also like to hear any other suggestions, others may have.

    * PS: I can't update windows drivers (I've updated about a month ago), because the 3 G dongle that I use is not having recognized in safe mode.

    Thanks in advance,

    Magassa

You should not have flashed the BIOS. Updating the BIOS is not a magic solution to all the problems. You must perform as the first response to a problem with your laptop because it adds an element of risk.

You should use the diagnoses instead. Press the power button and immediately press the ESC key. In the start menu, choose to press the F2 key to invoke diagnostics. Perform a system test, a test of memory, a hard drive test and a test video.  Let us know what are the results of the diagnostic test. The image is a more recent version that is installed on the hard drive of your laptop, but is still pretty similar.

  • Benefits of the PDB to the backup of the fence? More necessary Archivelog to Archivelog mode?

    Hello

I have a little, no doubt simple, issues.

So far, I did my backups on my test database while I closed the pluggable like this database:

    CLOSE PLUGGABLE DATABASE WISE15;
    BACKUP PLUGGABLE DATABASE WISE15 PLUS ARCHIVELOG;

But I couldn't find any documentation that says that it is better to first close the database. So should I really have to close? It seems to work when it is open. But in a production environment, I suppose it might cause problems when users always access the database?

My second question is: when my database is in archivelog mode, do I really need to add 'PLUS ARCHIVELOG' on each backup command?

    Thank you!

1 it is not better to close the database. RMAN is an online backup tool, your backup will be consitent without worrying if your database is open or not.

2 you should always backup your archivelogs. Why do play you with your database recovery.

Don't forget the two laws of Murphy

1 everything that can go wrong will go wrong

    2 Murphy was an optimist

If you don't back up your archivelogs you will need to do online continuously.

  • Import metadata connects in online mode, but "view data" says the connection failed

    Hello

My installation of obiee is on AIX (solutions for linux will be good). I installed successfully obiee. I created a connection odbc with no problems.

I download and installed the dev admin too i.e. the stand-alone tool.

Offline, the two 'import metadata' and after the table is imported, 'Examining the data' works without any problem.

In online mode, I click on 'Import metadata' of the connection pool or file, both instantly connect. Once the table is imported, I select a column and say "Look at the data" and it says that the connection failed. Should the customer Oracle DB installed on the machine as unix? I tried to copy the file tnsnames.ora to my local computer to the OracleBI_1/network/admin directory, restart services and connected in online mode, BUT always "the connection failed".

Could someone help me with this please? seems to be a known issue.

    Thank you

  • Install PT8.53 with Linux problem: unable connect in Bootstrap Mode of Data Mover

    People,

Hello. I install PeopleTools 8,53 Internet Architecture. Server database is the database Oracle 11 GR 1 material. Operating system is Oracle Linux 5.

I installed successfully JDK7, WebLogic Tuxedo 11 GR 1 material and PeopleTools 8,53 10.3.6, in Oracle Linux 5.

I've been setting up PeopleTools 8,53 Instance database. Because the Wizard installation problem, I created PeopleTools 8,53 Database Instance PT853 manually. I have run the following scripts:

    (1) utlspace.sql

    (2) dbowner.sql

    (3) psadmin.sql

    (4) psroles.sql

    (5) connect.sql

Then, we perform Data Mover script in a Windows XP Client computer to fill the PeopleTools PT853 database machine Linux Sever instance. I installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 client for 32-bit Windows XP 64 - bit Windows virtual machine and run it successfully.

In Oracle Linux 5 Server Machine Net Manager:

    Service name: PT853

    Connection type: default database

    "TCP/IP Protocol".

    Host: 192.168.196.102

    Port: 1521

    Listener: LISTENER

    Protocol: TCP/IP

    Host: 192.168.196.102

    Port: 1521

I test the Service PT853 with "SYSADM" username and password "SYSADM". The connection is successful.

In the Windows XP Client computer, the information in the Net Manager is the same as below:

    NET Service Name: PT853

    Protocol: TCP/IP

The host of the database Machine name: 192.168.196.102

    Port: 1521

Name of the Basic Service: PT853

    Connection type: default database

I test the connection using 'SYSADM' and it is successful as well. This means that Windows XP database Client can connect with the server database Oracle Linux 5 successfully. But in the computer Windows XP Client, Data Mover cannot connect in Bootstrap Mode using "SYSADM". Its details are below:

    Configuration manager:

    Type of database: Oracle

    The database name: PT853

    User ID: SYSADM

    Connect ID: people

    Connect password: people

    Data Mover:

    Type of database: Oracle

    User ID: SYSADM

    Password: SYSADM

When connect in Bootstrap Mode of Data Mover, I got the same error:

ORA - 12154:TNS: can not resolve the connect identifier specified. Invalid user ID and password for the access code.

Based on my understanding, in the Oracle database, the Data Mover Bootstrap mode connection requires a PSDBOWNER table with a 'Database name PT853 and UserID SYSADM' entry.

The problem is that the PSDBOWNER table doesn't have a line after that I run 5 scripts above. I am looking at runs 5 scripts one by one as below:

    (1) running the utlspace.sql script creates spaces of table 2 (PSTEMP, PSDEFAULT). This script can not create 2 storage spaces. So, I created 2 tablespaces manually.

    (2) running the psdbowner.sql script creates the PSDBOWNER table. This script creates the PSDBOWNER table successfully, but the last line by pressing "connect system/manager", had this error: user not valid Word name and pass. logon denied. I ignore this error and continue the following script.

    (3) running the psroles.sql script created the roles PSUSER and PSADMIN. This script runs successfully without error.

    (4) running the psadmin.sql script creates ownerID SYSADM and ownerID password SYSADM. When this script runs the last line 'connect system/manager', had this error: user not valid Word name and pass. logon denied. I ignore this error and continue the following script.

    (5) running the connect.sql script creates connectID 'people' and connect password "people." This script runs successfully without error.

    My questions are:

First of all, in the database Oracle Linux 5 server machine, when I created the instance of database PT853 using DBCA, on the management of the password for the user 'system', I unlocked it and change his password for 'system '. It causes the scripts 'psdbowner.sql' and 'psadmin.sql' got the error "username and password"? If so, how to fix?

Second, after you run 5 scripts above, why there is no line in the table for Data Mover Bootstrap PSDBOWNER to open a session? How to solve this problem?

Thirdly, can I just insert a line 'PT853 SYSADM' into the table PSDBOWNER for Data Mover Bootstrap to open a session?

    Thanks in advance.

By default, the password of the population is peop1e.

Once more, you shouldn't do anything 'manually' on the database, scripts do everything for you. Unless something is wrong.

    > When this script runs the last line 'connect system/manager', had this error: user not valid Word name and pass. logon denied. I ignore this error and continue the following script.

I really wonder why ignore the error. This meant everything that your system password is not responsible, but something else that you set when creating the database. Never happens to you to check the script before you run it and change it if necessary?

    Nicolas.

  • How to use the OEM grid control to find databases, not in archivelog mode?

During updates of database, for most databases, it is recommended to disable archiving because this will speed up the upgrade process. See the exceptions listed by MOS Doc below. Jose has recommended as the upgrade is a case all or nothing - if the upgrade fails for any reason, you need to restore from a backup and start over. Once the upgrade has completed successfully, in archivelog mode must be switched back on again.

No, in this case oracle (SMON) will only use online redo log and will perform instance recovery then database opens. Of course, if we won't support failure.
