Forward traffic IPSec VPN
Hi dude, I want to address this topic to understand ipsec VPN throughput.
I have 1 router 1921 and 1 ASA 5510 behind the router. I want to set up remote access on ASA firewall by traffic shaping router forwards (port UDP 500 and UDP 4500 port). I have 1 public IP address and I already configure NAT on the router. In fact, I heard that IPsec cannot pass through the NAT. So if I want to configure VPN on SAA, it is possible to do? All the guys comment on and propose your idea to me. Thanks for your reply.

When you say, you have a public IP address. Is this address IP is assigned to the interface of the router or not attributed distinct IP address.
If its not assigned public IP address, you can make static NAT with ASA outside the IP address to a public IP address on your router as below
{100.100.x.x}fa0/0<-(R1)->fa0/1{192.168.100.1}<------->{192.168.100.2}eth0/0(ASA)eth0/1{172.16.01}
IP nat inside source 192.168.100.2 static 100.100.x.x
This way you have full IP to IP NAT.
If you got the only IP address that is assigned to the interface of the router then you will need to nat as port said

Armed with an ASA 5505 Security Plus, I configure IPSec VPN for RA the VPN IP address pool is in the 192.168.2.0/28 network.

The VPN works great. What I would do is to route all internet through the firewall traffic when users are connected to the VPN. I put this gateway 192.168.1.254 tunnel, but I'm having no luck to get it works.

You are just going to route internet traffic to the remote vpn client to the ASA and backward on the Internet?
If the above statement is correct, you need not configure the tunnel default gateway.
But you need to configure NAT for the ip pool, so they can go to the internet, as well as the 'same-security-movement' command as follows:
NAT (outside) 1 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
permit same-security-traffic intra-interface
In addition, assuming that you have not have split configured tunnel.

ASA Cisco IPSEC VPN tunnel has not managed the traffic
Hi guys
I am trying to set up a new connection IPSEC VPN between a Cisco ASA 5520 (verion 8.4 (4)) and Checkpoint Firewall. I managed to establish the phases IKE and IPSEC and I can see the tunnel is UP. But I can't see any traffic through the tunnel. I checked the cryptomap both ends and try to test with a contionuous ping from within the network of the SAA.
I made a screenshot of ICMP packets but cannot see in ASA. I welcomed the icmp inside ASA interface.
I did a package tracer and it ends with a fall of vpn - filter the packets. But can not see any configured filters...
Your help is very appreciated...

RV180 VPN route all internet traffic via IPSec VPN
Hello
I install my RV180 to VPN to our headquarters Fortigate 60 C. It works really well
My only problem is that I don't know how to move internet traffic on our remote site by Headquarters. We want to use this technique so that all sites have the same web content filtering provided by our main Fortigate unit. I see clearly that all traffic destined to our internal network will go trough the VPN tunnel, but internet traffic will go through our modem at the remote site.
My way of fortigate thinking said that I need a static route to transfer all traffic through the VPN tunnel. I've read elsewhere that I need to set up some sort of ACL.
Anyone else has any ideas on this / has anyone successfully implemented somehting similar?

I don't think that RV180 takes complete care of tunneling. Complete tunneling allows you to all your traffic to VPN. RV180 made only split tunneling.

Establish a IPsec VPN connection, but remote site can't ping main office
Hi, I set up connection from site to site IPsec VPN between cisco 892 (main site) router and linksys router wrv210 (remote site). My problem is that I can ping network router wrv210 lan of my main office where is cisco 892 router, but I cannot ping the main site of linksys wrv210 lan (my remote site).

You can run a "ip inspect log drop-pkt" and see if get you any what FW-DROP session corresponding to the traffic you send Linksys to the main site. Zone based firewall could be blocking traffic initiated from outside to inside.

IPSEC VPN crossed/Uturn problems internal net connections
I have an ASA 5505 I connect remotely. I use it as a remote IPSEC VPN with crossed/uturn to allow me to surf the Internet with my IP address.
I can't access one of the internal computers on my home network. I was able to do it successfully in the past on an older IOS SAA, but I am now on a new ASA 8.2 running (1) and I am unable to connect internally.
I would like to connect my Slingbox and Tivo which is my home. I tried to ping the boxes and no luck. In the past, when it worked I was able to ping devices.

If you are able to PING 192.168.1.1 VPN client, it means traffic reaches right inside the interface of the ASA.
Now, the ASA must forward packets to 192.168.1.6 when received.
Follow these steps:
Just add the keyword to the outside
to this statement:

Try again. If this does not work, make sure that the only NAT statements you have are the following (you can copy and paste):

Routing access to Internet through an IPSec VPN Tunnel

I installed a VPN IPSec tunnel for a friend's business. At his desk at home, I installed a Cisco SA520 and at it is remote from the site I have a Cisco RVS4000. The IPSec VPN tunnel works very well. The remote site, it can hit all of its workstations and peripheral. I configured the RVS4000 working in router mode as opposed to the bridge. In the Home Office subnet is 192.168.1.0/24 while the subnet to the remote site is 192.168.2.0/24. The SA520 is configured as Internet gateway for the headquarters to 192.168.1.1. The remote desktop has a gateway 192.168.2.1.
I need to configure the remote site so that all Internet traffic will be routed via the Home Office. I have to make sure that whatever it is plugged into the Ethernet on the RVS4000 port will have its Internet traffic routed through the Internet connection on the SA520. Currently I can ping any device on the headquarters of the remote desktop, but I can't ping anything beyond the gateway (192.168.1.1) in the Home Office.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi William, the rvs4000 does not support the tunnel or esp transfer wild-card.

I have a DMZ PATed host to a public IP address. I've set up an IPSEC tunnel (with an external body on my outside interface) to allow this host reach a host computer in this organization. The VPN is not come. I am told to implement NAT exemption for the DMZ host IPSEC traffic to the host outside. Kindly, how can I do this?

According to the ping problem, my suggestion is to check, if some type of firewall based on host computers on both sides block ICMP requests.
Anyway, you can still use the capture of packets on the inside of the interfaces of the two ASAs, to check if the ICMP traffic is to reach the ASA.
In addition, you can try to enable ICMP inspection:

How to apply internet traffic in VPN tunnel users

Perhaps it is a simple matter to most of you, but it confuses me right now.
Here's my situation:
home - internet - ASA 5510 users - CORP LAN
We have remote Ipsec VPN and anyconnect VPN, I think that the solution must work on two of them.
My question is: "how to apply internet traffic user home to the VPN tunnel?
We have "split tunnel" to only"'interesting traffic' VPN tunnel access LAN CORP.
but now I need apply all traffic (internet + CORP LAN) user through VPN tunnel passes.
so far, I did what I know:
1. remove the "split tunnle" group policy
2. the address in "remote user VPN address pool" are perhaps NAT/PAT travers ASA5510
but I don't get why it doesn't work.
all suggestions are appreciate!

A few things to configure:
(1) Split tunnel policy to be passed under split in tunnelall tunnel
(2) configure NAT on the external interface to PAT to the same global address.
(3) configure "allowed same-security-traffic intra-interface" so that the tunnel VPN for Internet traffic can make a u-turn.
Please share the current configuration if the foregoing still does not solve the problem. Thank you.

9.0 can a dynamic nat be used via ipsec vpn?
9.0 can a dynamic nat be used via ipsec vpn?
We have a vpn and work between asa and when we run traffic through a static nat rule traffic goes over the vpn. When we use a dynamic nat traffic does not get picked up by the ACL vpn.
We disable the nat rules to switch back and just so, even when we use the same destination to source the result is the same.
Am I missing something with 9.0 versions of code? If I disable all the nats and pass traffic it goes via the vpn.
So, it seems that when you use the dynamic nat statement, it pushes traffic to the external interface without looking at the acl of vpn. Please let me know if I'm crazy, I'm a newb on 8.3 zip code.

Here is the solution that I'm looking for:
When a session is initiated from the "internal network" to the "distance IPSEC - 172.xx.1.0/30 ' network I want the address scheme '10.15.0.0/16' NAT translation deals with '192.xx.xx.128/30' before forwarding via the IPSEC VPN Tunnel.

Microsoft l2tp IPSec VPN site to site ASA on top
I have a specialized applications casino that requires end-to-end encryption. I'm under the stack of Microsoft IPSec l2tp between my XP machine and my Windows 2003 server on the LAN. Can I use the same type of protocol stack Microsoft l2tp IPSec between my XP machine and the Windows Server 2003 a branch on the SAA to site to site ASA VPN tunnel? The VPN site-to site ASA is a type of key Preshare IPSec VPN tunnelle traffic between our head office and a branch in distance.
In other words, the ASA site-to-site IPSec VPN will allow Microsoft l2tp through IPSec encrypted traffic? My ACL tunnel would allow full IP access between site. Something like:

Yes, the L2TP can be encapsulated in IPSEC as all other traffic.
However, make sure that no NAT is performed on each end. L2TP is a default header protection which will see NAT as a falsification of package and reject it.

I have an asa 5505 connected to another asa in the main site. the ipsec vpn is established and on the side of a remote client, I can use a static IP of this subnet addreess and browse the web and access and ping with the main site inside response.
However, I can't receive any ip from the dhcp server, even if it is enabled on the asa 5505. If I put in a static IP address all right, but that's not realistic. Here is the config on the 5505. Thank you.

I have 2 ASAs and interconnected with ipsec VPN.
one of the ASA has SSLVPN users to access intranet resources.
but do not know how to get inside the network on an another ASA
my network architecture is less to:
192.168.1.0/24---ASA1---Internet---ASA2---172.24.0.0/16
SSLVPN use 192.168.55.0/24 ip on the external interface
L2L IPSec VPN is established between ASA1 and ASA2
192.168.1.x could access 172.24.0.0/16 via NATing to of ASA2 inside the ip interface
But now I want 192.168.55.0/24 access 172.24.0.0/16, some set up but does not work...
Are there any suggestions?

Hi the split tunnel, you add with the ASA2 network should allow vpn clients send the traffic through the tunnel when they want to reach the remote subnet.

Also in the config you have not added the crypto to ASA1 acl entry. who is 192.168.55.0 to 172.24.0.0
