Four beeps at power on XPS8300

I get four beeps repeat when turning on the computer. Nothing shows up on the monitor.  All connections were controlled and resettled without result.  Any ideas I could try next?

Remove all the ram and 1 stick to test both.

  • Satellite 3000 - X 11: four beeps on startup, white screen

    Hi people,
    A friend gave me a laptop to try and fix. It's a Toshiba Satellite 3000 - X 11.
Sometimes, it works very well. Starts as usual.
Sometimes, quite randomly, it will not start. In this case nothing will come on the screen at startup. The fan will kick in. The screen is black and there are four beeps. About 1 per second. It is then. On, but half-dead. You can hear no time to other fan.
I read the posts on the net who suggest that this is a hardware failure any. I want to know is if there is an easy way to know what hardware has failed. Almost all of the messages I read talked about three beeps. That's four.

Does no diff if I run it from ca or the battery.

I don't know what actually started working again.

I suspect (just a hint) that it tends to stop working after it has been moved (picked up and moved to another office etc.).

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Also, is there a Toshiba diagnostic tool I can download and run that will test the machine on?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

If the machine is behaving really as you described then the machine has a serious malfunction. I had the same machine, a few years ago
    the same problem.
So I brought my machine to a service partner and they exchanged a few "PCB´s" as they said.
These PCB´s are, for example, the motherboard or graphics card.

If the machine you have is under warranty, you won´t have chances yourself due to defective components.

    Welcome them

  • Acer AX1935-UR20P four beeps

    Hi all.

My Acer has started to freeze from time to time. I have to hard reboot and when I do I get the usual beep, but she is then followed shortly after by four beeps. He then stops the CPU but the fan continues to run. I then reboot again and it will generally start and run OK for a while (sometimes it didn't the four beeps again and I have to repeat the cycle).

This is not entirely consistent, but I noticed that it happens more often once the computer has sit in mode 'sleep' for a while. It freezes about 10-20 minutes after waking up and the cycle begins. If the computer is in continuous use, often much less.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello TarlsQtr,

I did a check of the memory (in fact twice) and the machine froze on the same bank of RAM. He did not read all the mistakes, but could this be indicative of a problem with it?

Yes, this module of memory is faulty.

I also pulled a bank or a RAM, boot the machine and it seems to work very well. Before this morning, the issue became much worse. It would give me the beeps of death several times or if I may he begin, freeze within five minutes. Yet once, this seems to indicate that the RAM is the correct question?

If you removed the memory defective module even, Yes.

Finally, is roughly interchangeable RAM as long as I make sure I get 4GB (my system has 4 X 2 = 8 GB total) DDR3?

If you want to replace it, you will find a string under the code of the thumbnail bar. The top ten is the part number. Here are the original parts:

  • My battery stopped charging. For four days, the power button says "59% available (plugged in, does not support)."

My battery stopped charging. For four days, the power button says "59% available (plugged in, does not support)."

How can I get the computer to start the battery again?

The battery is probably faulty. You can say as follows:

    1. Shut down Windows.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Wait an hour.
    4. The power supply is cold? If Yes, then the laptop consumes no power (which is normal).
    5. Insert the battery.
    6. Wait an hour.
    7. The power supply is hot? If so, the battery is recharged.
    8. Start normally and check the charge level. If she's still around 59% while the battery no longer accepts the full load. You need to replace it.
  • A random series of four beeps: Pavilion dv6-6c40ca: windows 7

Hi, my pavilion dv6 keeps giving me a steep and very boring series of four beeps. When it happens it seems to occur at regular intervals of 2 minutes or more, I've not exactly been timing but this is what it feels like. It usually occurs when I'm listening to music. I'm pretty sure that's because my computer is not getting enough fresh air, it doesn't normally happen when my laptop USB cooler is attached and lifting the laptop a little of my desk seems to stop when it happens. I would really just to disable the feature altogether because I don't want to carry my cooler to the class, nor do I have room in my bag for her, and type while my laptop is stalled at the top on my calculator is awkward and inconvenient. Any ideas?

Also, I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, I wasn't sure if I should put it in audio or OS and software or what. pls no flames

I thought about it, it was just the instant message widget on my site of duties of colleges, someone sent me a message and he constantly warned me to it while I was on. Wow I feel like a fool lol.

  • four beeps at startup

I have an old laptop R50e of 3.5 year are no longer under warranty.

When I boot it battery or power, I get four regularly spaced beeps and nothing else. The screen is blank and the fan is running. This happened this morning. I had used last yesterday evening and gracefully close.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    zekela, welcome to the forum,

According to the hardware maintenance manual for your R50e, (pdf p.74), four short beeps and an average of the white screen that your motherboard is dead. You find all error descriptions in the manual.

  • Pavilion 23-q070se: long three and four beeps when I turned on my pc

As the subject says, my PC (Pavilion all-in-one 23-q070se, with 10 Win Home updated) three long beep and four short and repeated this model for some time (maybe 5 times), when I turned it on. But after that, he has worked - at least I didn't say anything bad. Usually, my pc is in "sleep" in slow motion. I don't know where this problem began; I don't know he was there during the two months, the other day in January, when I rebooted my pc and found this problem, until today.

I tried to fix it myself, but I couldn't find the beep code. Please help me with this problem. Thank you very much!

Based on the title that you have posted. It seems that the 3 long beeps followed of four short beeps is related to an error with your graphics card. Check your graphics card and make sure that it updated. Find your graphics driver in hp Web site to avoid any trouble.

  • One long beep on power on nothing (G3-605)

Actually, I've updated the BIOS, it seemed to work because I got the new logo of the screen and once in Windows, I reinstalled the chipset driver, who wanted a restart. So I said that now any time it powers on it just beeps for a few seconds then nothing.

Tried reinstalling the RAM and the GPU, but it did not work. Don't know how to reset the CMOS if this is, but the total lack of everything that happens on the screen (does not seem to happen) and the manual with not postal codes, means that I am at a loss what to try next.

Someone at - it ideas? I mean what I've done is to search for my SNID then install the BIOS and chipset, it gave me a little frustrated that now it doesn't work at all.

    Welcome to.

just remember that if your BIOS is damaged and can not even bootstrap... you have a dead motherboard.

  • Will beep the power upward: 5 beeps, pause, 5 beeps

    Hello world

My X 220 made a few beeps when I turn it on: 5 short beeps, a pause, 5 short beeps again.

I heard it before when I've updated the BIOS with the latest version, but he was stronger. Now I hear it everytime I turn on my X 220, but not when I reboot.

An other BIOS update didn't fix it, but I think I have accidentally changed something in the NVRAM.

    Thanks for your help

BIOS you downloaded is not original (i.e.modified). Thus, embedded controller and TPM react to the change.

  • Xw4400: I replaced the power supply in my xw4400, always beep

    Hello

My power supply died a week ago.  I know because she gave me a code 4 sound.  I followed the troubleshooting instructions, and when it is connected with all the cables disconnected, the fan does not turn.  Thus confirmed dead.

I got the new power supply today, and I plugged it in with no cable attached.  The fan spun.  Power has confirmed the good.

However, when I put back in place and turned on, I got the code of four beeps again.  Does this mean that my motherboard is fried?  And if so, where the Board of Directors is the id so I can order another?  I have the dual core intel cpu if that helps at all.  Not the extreme, just the duo.

Thanks in advance for your help.

After I plugged in a monitor, I doscovered that the computer was in the way of the message and then affected by the thermal shutdown.  Replacement of the entire radiator and fan made me a work computer.

The problem was a bad video card.  For some reason, nor Council picked up the problem.

Four "beeps", could indicate a memory problem, if you are comfortable working inside the computer, try to open the case, remove and reinstall all memory modules and see if that makes a difference.

If you not comfortable working with the removal and the reinstallation of the components, then I suggest that you take the Inspiron 530 to a repairman.

Is the power button LED, blue constant or flashing blue?

Every change made to the 530 recently?

  • Satellite 3000 514 often starts no-beep code appears

    Hello
I have a 5 year satellite, 3000-514 laptop and now it only starts when it wants to.
Most of the time, the screen remains black and the laptop emits four beeps of the four sounds.
I can try and try again nothing happens, until he starts?

It is very annoying, anyone experienced this same pb?
Anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks for your help

    Kind regards
    Marc

It seems that the laptop may not successfully complete the POST (power on self test). The laptop will beep because there is a material error, and some device has not passed the test.
You can try to disconnect all the external devices and then try to start the laptop.
But I put t see much chance that this will help solve the problem

For most in such cases, external assistance is necessary. The technician with a lot more experience as a common user like me and you should check the laptop. I hope that there is no malfunction of the motherboard as this could be a bit expensive :(

  • HP desktop computer starts but with beeps instead!

Desktop HP does not start. Sounds 4 beeps with power light blinks red w / each beep.  Help!

    Hello:

This beep code means that your power supply has failed. If your PC is under warranty, please contact HP support.

If she is no longer under warranty, you will need to either buy a new power supply, or a new PC.

  • HP Z600 workstation: Z600 - POST error beep (5 five beeps)

I bought an opportunity Workstation Z600 with 12 GB of ram and two processors E5520 Xeon a year ago. It has operated VMware esxi 6 like a champ, 24/7, no problem.  I made a change to esxi to activate technology hyper threading that I had not been activated previously. The change required a reboot.

Directly after the restart, the Z600 gave an error of 5 beeps with power led to change from blue to red and flashes red with each beep.

I found the Z600 maintenance manual and the diagnostic code refers to a "memory error video pre.  I have tried the following to resolve the error without success:

    1. Reinstall the DIMMs.
    2. Replace DIMMS one by one to isolate the faulty module.
    3. Removed power system without DIMM DIMMS, bike and re-placed DIMM (it was a 'technical' repair suggested on another post here in the forums of HP for a matter of "5 beeps").
    4. Replaced with different compatible DIMM DIMMS.
    5. Replaced the motherboard with used, but identical motherboard number and repeat steps 1 to 4.

At this point, I don't know what I can do a troubleshooting point.

For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Just a last follow-up.

I removed the 2nd CPU, cleared the CMOS but it still some messages with error 5 beep. Swapped all of RAM sticks, swapped CPU 1 with the 2nd and traded off the RAM sticks again. Each combination was the POST error.

I threw in the towel. I thought about buying the new RAM since all my RAM is used, but I can't justify spending good money after bad on a hunch, it's the RAM. I will part out the Z600 and try to recover some of my losses.

Just that there is another method I wish diagnostic I could apply to understand what is the question.

Who knew restart, after a year of solid service, would kill the PC.

    Thank you all.
