Fp40ext.inf missing in xp
In the Panel, that I can not open remove components window do not necessary
Jose, I renamed my file and was then impossible to open windows components. I got the error you described. I then renamed it originally fp40ext.inf and no error has occurred.
Your message worked exactly as you said it would.
But then, all your messages make sense!
The op followed your suggestion and the problem is solved, so we are all happy all around. I wonder how the file should be missed in the first place.
Thanks again for your help in this matter. Liz.

I can not install hp photsmart c4280 getting a usb.inf missing file error.
I can't install my hp photosmart c4280. I have an error that usb.nf file is missing in windows xp. I am running xp sp3 and MS Security Essentials can be removed as a threat or a virus. My printer wouldn't print and after troubleshooting it as the last resort to remove and try to reinstall the printer and then I started getting this error message. How can I solve this problem without reinstalling windows xp.
Hello lcarter72,
Have you checked to see if the files still exist in a virus vault or anything?
We will try to launch a System File Checker to see if the file can be repaired or reinstalled.
Sfc/scannow will inspect all the important Windows files on your computer, including the Windows DLL files. If the System File Checker detects a problem with any of these protected files, it will replace it. Asked may to your CD if it is necessary to reinstall a file.
To run the scannow, follow these steps
1. click on start
2. click on run
3. type CMD and press ok
4. type sfc/scannow
Note: There is a space after sfc
The program will execute and check files damaged or missing, you you may be asked to insert your CD to reinstall the files.
This thread has also some additional information, but I wouldn't recommend no download and installation of system files on the internet and try to install them on your computer.

Original title: Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 install problem
I have a LG S1 Pro Express dual computer with vista sp2. My Bluetooth Notebook mouse 5000 can be coupled to my computer, but after pairing, it will say "Device Bluetooth HID - ready to use" and "unidentified - device failed. It then opens a window saying "problem of installing the software driver for the device - driver for this device is missing a necessary entry.» Maybe it's because the file INF was written for windows 95 or later. »
I checked some things here and read about intellipoint 7.x and installed but it still does not work. This used to work before mouse
HelloThe drivers that you try to install seems to be corrupted. Let us fisrt remove all traces of the software driver for this device in the Device Manager and then install the drivers from the manufacturer's Web site.Step 1.You can uninstall the audio drivers completely from the Device Manager and re-install from the manufacturer's Web site.
I would also recommend to check if there are Windows updates for this device.Step 2.Here is the link to download the latest drivers.

Select the type of product like "Mouse" and select the product as "Notebook Optical Mouse" and your version of operating system and the language of the operating system.

Missing USB. The Windows XP SP3 Installation INF file
I had problems to install USB devices and after a long-term task and it narrowed the field down, I discovered why.
I don't have USB. INF file in my Windows/Inf directory.
Annoyingly, my setup is not an I386 directory, and my XP disks are stored in a box somewhere that I'm travelling right now.
I need to get a copy of the USB right. File INF for XP SP3 - I downloaded a couple, but they did not...
Anyone knows where I can get it online, or could send me a link or send me a copy?
Thank you
Matt
Try to get the smart-inf of your manufacturer of computers or the chip-maker (for example Intel)
If you do not lnow what chip you have Intel has routine to check the chip chip-infI have a similar problem, but still not resolved, apparently SP3 do not update or keep the inf files... -
When I try to download the SP3 it gives up and tells me update.inf is not found. When my journal of automatic update checking, I find that he has tried to load the last 15 days. The computer, I'm trying to trouble was just acquired another person and has not been used for some time.
Hello JLudlow618,

Acer Aspire 2929 and a HL-DT-SL DVDRAM GSA-T40N ATA DEVICE
Hello
Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

HOL-INF-04-M2 missing JConsole
I finished the first Module of HOL-INF-04. I came home today and re registered in the laboratory to complete the second module.
The instructions say just to start JConsole from the desktop of the virtual machine. This isn't on my desk. I restarted the VM and run the StopBasicsLabVMs PowerCLI cmdlet to see if that solved the problem.
How do I get this to appear?
You are right that it is a control problem in the manual and it will be fixed.
The JConsole exists on one computer Desk virtual other than that you connect initially, but you are not told where it is up to 20 steps later in the manual.
Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback and help us make the Labs Online better!

Hi D.Bee,
Method 1
Check if the computer can be started in safe mode or last known good configuration.
How to start your computer by using last good known Windows XP Configuration
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307852
A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

Method 2
If the computer can boot in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.
