From a few access points SSID

Hi all

I'll create a new WLAN id/identifier SSID in Cisco 4402 wireless controller and as soon as I did that create the ssid will be pushed to all access points, but I want to broadcast the SSID that at a few access points, is anyway we achieve this in the controller itself or WCS. Please let me know

Thank you

Hello

Yes, you can shape this traffic. His call to Cisco AP groups. You can simply consult the configuration for confi efforts guide. What is the code, you are on, if you are on 4.2 you can Overide WLAN.

I hope this helps...

  • LAPN300 - the best configuration for 3 access points, while using the same SSID

    Hi all

What is the best configuration for 3 x LAPN300 located in various places around my house of 3 floors, access points if I want just one SSID?

I did some initial research which suggests that I can use the same SSID on all three, as long as they are on different channels. 1, 6 and 11 for example. In theory, then, as I wander around the House the client machine must auto swap to the AP with the signal stronger.

What do you think? What is the best way or do, or could suggest you something else?

As an aside... If I decided to create a second SSID for the guests at home, I would also want to add wireless isolation to this SSID. How would that be managing the DHCP server on the local network? How would be asked to connect to the SSID has never get an IP if they have been isolated from other clients on the local network?  Besides, how they see the router? The ANNUAL lets you specify exceptions to this isolation for this feature?  Alternatively, as I suspect, is the right isolation feature isolate them from other WLAN, not the LAN clients customers?

I did some testing and configuration of the AP with the same SSID and security will do what you want. Don't worry about setting the channel because the auto channel setting works with these devices and automatically adjusts the spacing between the appropriate channels.

Recommendation of the VPN_user is what you need if you want to isolate the SSID comments from the rest of your network clients.

Isolation of SSID of the AP will guard only wireless devices to communicate with each other on the same SSID on which it is enabled.

  • Stor.E access point stops working after a few seconds

Bought a Stor.E wireless adapter and followed the instructions but after turn on the unit by connecting to USB power usage provides cables, access point WIFI disconnects after 4 or around seconds.
    1. I connect to usb power
    2. the indicator flashes in green and stays on
    3. wireless light turns green and stay on, turns off after a few seconds

Managed to connect using the mobile app several times, while its sequel, but given that the WIFI point disconnects, can't use it.

    Any thoughts?

    1. I connect to usb power

Stor.e wireless adapter must be connected to the power supply and the other end to the external HARD drive.

Then, you can use the application to access the wireless content.

  • Unique SSID to the autonomous access point

    Hello

My question is that if I have one SSID on an autonomous access point while I use the vlan native too. I mean what's the best practice in this case, if the vlan wireless say 10.

Also I have to use the bvi-1 or I have to creat bvi another for this vlan?

    Thank you

In my experience it's not a must to use native vlan.

No, you should use only one interface BVI.

    Just like that:

  • Access points dropping from top to bottom

I have anywhere from 5 to 20 points of access drop goes up and down all day on a total of about 200. I try currently to cross and understand why we our access points are conducting many issues and how I might be able to solve.

One of the newspapers I see often is:

    AP "exp - p13,' interface '802. ' 11A ' controller ' 10.2.192.25 '. String passed to ' 44 ""60"due to 'None '. Energy interference before update is ' 0 'and after update is ' 0'. Noise before update is ' 0 'and after that update is ' 0'. Interference before update is ' 0 'and after update is ' 0'.

Is any way to determine what the cause of this?

    The controller firmware: 4.2.130.0.

    Model AP-AIR-LAP1242AG-A-K9

    IOS Version 12.4 (10B) JA4

Sounds as if it was just the Radio Resource Management (RRM) on the controller. You can disable this if she is down to customers. Go to the wireless tab, look on the left and click on the 802. 11A / n or 802.11b/g/n dropdown. Then click on the drop down RRM, click Auto RF.

My advice is to change the algorithms of subpoena power and channel to "On Demand. You can call them to the need to maintain an optimal network. By default, it automatically calls the update every 10 minutes.

Give it a try and see if it helps. If this isn't the case, we can explore more.

  • installation of switchport lwapp running of multiple ssid access point

    Hi all

When you set up a hotspot lwapp, must I trunk all the VLANS on the port to the ap? or do I only allow the vlan management for the access point? That is to say 1 vlan and normal access port?

    see you soon

    Carl

If it's a LWAPP AP, then the switchport should be an ACCESS PORT... It's just to get the IP to the AP, then the AP wil try to join the WLC... once that the AP has joined, the SSID and the rest through the LWAPP tunnel...

  • Unique to the multiple SSID and possible access point single channel?

    Hello world.

    I have a silly question.

Let say, we have three VLAN, vlan1, 2, 3 and they are mapped to the following wireless LANs:

    VLAN 1 ssid1

    VLAN 2 ssid2

    Vlan3 ssid 3

AP - trunk - dagprogramm network.

Our access point has mobile devices in three local wireless networks, IE ssid1ssid2 and ssid3

Since the mode AP use half duplex, mobile devices need acknowledgement positive to ap they can send data, so once channel let channel 3 (assuming that 802. 11b is used) can be shared by all the devices in three local wireless networks.

    My understanding is correct?

    Thanks and a great weekend.

An access point = an associated action related channel and each ssid and the customer that one channel and the AP is essentially as a hub

  • How can I get my name from the access point?

Since I bought a modem Arris 228 G and spent my 2 wireless, printers Canon WIFI unable to connect at Optimum!

Canon said to contact my router creator (Apple Airport Extreme) for the name of the access point get return wireless, WI - FI printers.

    Help, please.

    W.W.

    (Mac Pro 10.6.8)

The name of the access point is simply the name of the wireless network that provides AirPort Extreme.

You can see the name of your wireless network by clicking on the WiFi icon at the top of the screen of your Mac and by checking that the name appears.

There will be a check mark next to your wireless network name.. which is also known as a wireless access point.

It would be the same name that you had before... unless you have changed some settings on the AirPort Extreme.

  • Satellite L300 Wireless does not work in mode access point

Satellite L300 with built in wifi Realtek device.
Internet is coming from an external USB device, and I want to make wifi internal working as a router/hotspot/access point, just to connect with my cell phone.

I try to create the ad - hoc network in Windows 7 and Linux Fedora.
New network is listed in the OS cmdlets, but no SSID appears on my laptop.

Also tried with hosted network (virtual wifi adapter) and app named Connectify in Win7.
SSID appears, but is unable to connect or link broken after a few minutes without any data transfer.

Now, I came to ask me for this built in hotspot wifi device support mode at all?

If so, is there a setting I'm missing?
Or some utility runs, to check if the device is broken or have a driver problem, or something...?

I put t know who don't L300 you have exactly and can't say what WLAN card is inside but the audit model in Device Manager and try to find the specification exact Googling autour.

To be honest I really don t know if your problem has nothing to do with Toshiba directly.

  • My Airport Time Capsule can act as a WIRELESS access point

    Hello.

I brought a Time Capsule with my Mac Pro. It worked well since yesterday.

I have set up the time Capsule as a WIFI, bypass at my local network access point. There is a router (cable) works at home.

It's my Mac Pro AirPort Utility and my iPhone, my Time Capsule is displayed with an exclamation point saying "device not found". I can't connect to the disk on this subject by afp share, or smb. Time Machine function is gone too. He failed trying to connect to the share drive from another computer connected to the time Capsule by cable network.

But at the same time, WiFi works well.

I tried to recycle energy. Sharing disk will be available. But if I start the Time Machine backup, it will not be a few seconds.

    Any idea?

    Thank you.

There are several posts here related the issue.

Luckily, you have set up your new Time Capsule for Back to My Mac (BTMM)?

If so, the 'temporary' solution is to delete/disable the option of the CCMM, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the base and then station, select change.
    • On the tab of the Base Station, go back to the section of my Mac at the bottom of the window.
    • If you have entries here, select it and click then the minus sign "-" button to remove it.
    • Click on update and allow the base station restart.

If you have not enabled CCMM, we have other options for you to try.
