  If you did an upgrade and not a clean install, they must remain on your drive. Do a search of *.jpg, *.jpeg and see what you get. If I remember correctly, you will have a folder windows.old that they appear in. You can use Windows Explorer if you want to look in your records in the Windows.Old directory.

  You cannot save programs and then copy them to another system.

  You must reinstall them from the original media. Make sure you have all the license keys you need to reinstall before you start.

  Well, relatively recently I bought a new laptop from lenovo with the intentions of immediately wiping of Windows 7 and Linux installation, with the hope of avoiding the headaches that I had previously with Windows. However, just out of curiosity, I decided to try Windows 7 before cleaning off the coast of the laptop and I have not had any major problems with it. So, I'm now thinking that I can dust off that Vista machine (the one that was put in the closet), if I can only he move to Windows 7.
  Almost immediately after plugging the thing, the headaches have come back with a vengeance.  I ran the Win 7 Upgrade Advisor, which basically said that everything was fine and that all that I had to do was to install Service Pack 1. Well, there is no service pack 1 in Windows update so I just downloaded the standalone file.  However, after trying to run the stand alone file, he said something to the effect that I can't because it is for installations of Windows language English, French, German and Spanish. He said in English, you the spirit, and it does because I have an English version of Windows.
  I'm now thinking that there could be another language pack on my computer so I googled how to uninstall language packs. The only information I can find on how to uninstall the language packs is to insert the Windows installation disc. I don't have the installation disc. There are years I paid an arm and a leg for a software that was virtually unusable.
  Is that anyway to upgrade to Windows 7 without having to deal with Vista and still not the upgrade price? I'm certainly not going to pay for the full version, as the last time, I would have probably had a better experience if I would have just thrown money into the fire.   Do not reformat the entire disk (leave the partition recovery and system, partitions reserved in place). Then, follow these instructions and be perpaired to activate by phone. Your only other option is to reinstall Vista and then you pass, this can do less annoying activation.

  Hello!  I hope someone can help me.  I don't know if I'm in the right place.  I bought a computer HP 9005 XP about 2 years ago.  He constantly reminded and back for the service.

  The last time I sent it in for service they had installed a Vista motherboard into in (keep in mind the 9005 is a XP).  One day it just wouldn't run more, so rather than send new AGAIN fourth time) at HP I took it to a store office supplies nationwide, which also makes computer repair.

  For weeks, they have worked on the problem and could not understand what was wrong.  I have F-Secure so there is no worms, viruses, Trojans, etc.  FINALLY, they took that part and discovered that HP has installed a motherboard Vista inside which, as you know, is not compatible with XP hard drives, controllers, etc.

  Because Vista and XP are incompatible, they also installed a version of Vista.  A big big glitch. I have now discovered that the Vista Software "is not a legal version" and I keep on gettting messages from MicroSoft.

  I ordered a new computer customized HP which has 7 top (if it works anything like Vista just call me crazy... it's still in the box).

  NOW for my question.  , I want to buy the 'UPGRADE' to 7 for the dv9005 computer but do not know if he will be executed and, of course, once you open the box you cannot return the software.  The 'upgrade' to 7 is around $90 - $119 depending on where you buy it.  The full version is almost as much as a new computer and I paid about $1,500 for a new one.   I'm not paying penny #1 for a legal Vista upgrade.   The upgrade, as I said, is already here.  It is simply not registrable.

  First thing to do is to visit the HP website and determine if there are drivers for the current material - you must also run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
  Note that if your current installation is not valid, you need to do a clean install of Windows 7, you use a full commercial license. This will destroy all information on the drive - but back first!
   
  Also note that your computer is probably still a license for the original operating system - XP, and you should be able to persuade the HP to provide an appropriate set of disks so that, assuming that the motherboard supports XP.
   
  Other than that, it is possible that the installation of Vista is not 'illegal' - just a bit borked. To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag (download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 ) tool

  I have a Compaq presario CG60 and since I've updated from Vista home premium to Win 7 as a free upgrade from Compaq, my PC is always crashing.

  The laptop for about 9 months.

  Laptop crashes when the laptop is suspended or hibernation for a given period. I frequently get a blue screen down also.

  I have re-installed the laptop of-> Win 7 by default and the same error on the replacement of the battery. The laptop is running on battery, but once she is suspended, it will crash & windows prompts you to restore & repair.

  Help appreciated! Do I need a new battery or is it a Vista known-> issue of Win 7.

  Try the following steps:

  1. install HP Vista Nvidia chipset, here rebort.

(In fact, I couldn't even run the Windows Upgrade Advisor before proceeding with the installation because this program must be installed on your computer before you can run) So, I chose to use the custom installation and it worked fine, except that my computer is now worse than with vista. Thinking that it was because he kept all the vista files (windows.old) I deleted this file, but he did that give back me my hard drive space. I would like to make a re-install using this same version upgrade disc, but I've heard that I can not do a clean install, if the original operating system is not currently on the computer (using the version upgrade 7, not the full version), and I guess that's is more on my computer with the exception of fragments which I affect 7 performance.   If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.
