Full HP recovery disk, disk D

How can I get space on this disk drive D?   Vista, HP Pavilion Entertainment PC.   I saved the info on the DVD.  Gus (nwsawbones)

Hello

I think that the lock screen has nothing to do with the recovery partition D is full - it is likely that this is a separate issue.

Can you post back with a list of the files in the folder on the D drive.

Kind regards

DP - K

    Hello:

It is normal that the partition recovery disk is almost full, and you should never store other files on it.

The partion made just large enough to hold recovery files.

If you have stored files on the recovery partition, I recommend that move you elsewhere.

The recovery partition is set by default to have very little free space_and has no negative effect on it or system. However, if you use it to back up files, it could fill to capacity. Do not use for backup. You can also check to see if the System Restore monitors the partition, if so, turn it off. Whatever you do, do not compress the partition. Doing so will serve as recovery to stop working.

What I need to know is...

If I do a "Factory System Recovery" of "FACTORY_IMAGE" (D :) ', the recovery process complete "map around ' clusters and bad sectors and produce a full C: recovery accurate?  Or is - this disc 2009 so old that I need to replace it and reinstall Windows 7 using my "system repair discs?

If you use the /r switch in Chkdsk it tries to fix the bad clusters or move the data to a cluster of good.  CHKDSK will isolate the bad cluster and do not use it.  Maybe it's time to think about replacing the hard drive, it could be near the end of its service life.

You can perform a restore factory on this hard drive, but you must back up the data that you have on your E drive on an external drive, preferably an external hard drive, because they can be erased.

You need to install a new hard drive, it must be of equal size or greater than what you have now.  To install the new OS, you will need to use recovery discs that you can order from HP.  If you live in the USA/Canada, call HP at this number 1-800-334-5144 and see if you can still get a set of recovery disks.  Otherwise the site worldwide: http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html

If HP does not have the recovery disks, you can order them from the surgeons of the computer:

  • Recovery disk - I restored my files, but the drive keeps telling me that it is almost full

Recently, I backed up my files on the recovery drive. I have restored my files, but the drive keeps telling me that it is almost full. I don't know how to fix this.

Restoring a backup does not remove the backup files.  You must remove them manually, unless you want to save in case another restore of that backup is necessary.

And if you did it on your manufacturer's recovery disk, it wasn't a good idea.  This disc is for recovery only and should be used for anything else.  Find another drive to use for backups.  If this is the case, it may be best to contact the manufacturer and tell them that you were doing so they can help you to correctly resolve the situation without causing problems for disk recovery and your ability to use it as it should be used the need ever.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • recovery disk is full display to 80%. How can I remove items on this drive?

My recovery disk is full display to 80%. How can I remove items from this drive?

The recovery partition is designed to be almost complete. HP configures it to use a minimum of disk space hard, just large enough to contain the files needed to perform a recovery of the system with little space left over.

  • How to copy or empty d recovery disk which is almost full

I am technically challenged please bear with my question: I defragment the drive c and d and was informed that drive d has only 10% free space.

What can I do? Copy of a removable disk. Or I can empty it? I have Dell, my producer of my laptop recovery disks.

Thanks for any advice what to do - or NOT do.

    Hello

I would check what drives have been provided.

Read this information on D: when there is a recovery partition:

Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. If you want to reinstall Windows from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.

    See you soon.

  • I wiped my Dell computer, now E: recovery disk is full?

I wiped my computer because he had some sort of virus top... Then I put in the cd of the operating system and reinstalled only.

Now, he says the drive E: recovery in its entirety, in red with only 250 odd mb left. What happened and how do I fix this issue?
I read on the forums and tried to delete the letter following the instructions and it does not.
I only noticed that she refused to install our wireless adapter, so we can't put internet top.
Bare in mind I am somewhat a novice with the computer thing.

"Wiping": your computer a virus is almost always * way * overkill. It is much easier, faster and often safer to use the excellent antivirus programs available to get rid of.

The recovery disk is a patition put there by Dell; It contains a Windows image that you can use to reinstall Windows if it is necessary. Dell, which provides the place to give its customers a Windows DVD, but apparently you also have a DVD. Maybe you ordered on their part.

The recovery partition is usually filled or nearly filled, and it is * not * it for you to use for other purposes; You should never try to write to it. However, your situation, with a DVD of Windows, is unusual, and so you can remove its content (although personally, I would not; it is an extra level of protection and uses very little disk space).

  • Full disk recovery disk space

How to release my recovery disk space? I deleted all the files I can and the trash. I think I may have inadvertently backed up my files from my flash on that disk drive and now can't free up space. I contacted and talked to a Microsoft support without resolution. I have space in my OS drive that I can save in but would like to get my D drive clear. Any suggestions?

Ignore the warning for D drive. It is the recovery disk that is needed to restore your PC to factory settings. "A programmer is just a tool that converts the caffeine in code" Deputy CLIP - http://www.winvistaside.de/

  • Recovery disk D fill in a HP, a recovery has never been made and is now in full disc to make a recovery disk, what can we do?

Don't know what to do with this situation or on how it fills.

You must contact the manufacturer http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html to fix everything that has been done to the recovery partition - this is their program, not Microsofts.  If you want to that recovery disks they willl likely be willing to sell you a package at a reasonable price ($ 20-25 or something close).  We cannot help you because dw do not have the basic information their recovery partition or the recovery process and it varies from a constructor.

I'm sorry, we can't do more to help, but you need solve this problem with the manufacturer.

    I hope this helps.

  • Re: How to get Corel WinDVD without using the recovery disk?

The update for Corel WinDVD was rather messy and because of this some owners laptop uninstalled to try to install the new software. Now, we ended up with the only possibility of an image recovery, which, in practice, means losing the software.

Updates for the Bluetooth and wifi are also pretty messy.
Is isn´t possible to get this software back without using the recovery disk?

As you probably know recovery image installed on Toshiba laptops is a kind of software that includes the operating system, drivers, tools specific to Toshiba and utilities but also some additional software like antivirus or DVD player application.

All drivers and Toshiba tools and utilities are available on the Toshiba download page, and if you want to install the version of the OS, you can download each of them.
This additional software is not available for download. It's a kind of gift on the owner of the laptop because as the new owner, your machine must be ready to employment with full protection and opportunities to use multimedia content.

If you don't like it, you can remove the system and use your own applications.

Summary: this software cannot be downloaded separately and if you want to have it again, you must install original image of recovery designed for your machine.

If you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.
