Fusion 3.0.1 + Windows 7 Pro + Bridged Networking w/manual settings = networking questions

Hello

I've been using VMWARE products for many years, and while I'm not an expert, I can tell you it's smelly.

I installed Windows 7 4 times today and all with the same result, networking is not working properly.  I can connect to and do what I want on the internet, but this fake windows to connect to the network thingy is HORRIBLE, didn't they try to repair windows 7?  quiet quiet quiet

So no matter what I try... networking is not working properly.

The only way I can get a temporary switch between bridge and NAT, then packed fix works for a little bit.  I can't even run windows update.

Vista, 2008, XP, SBS, and many other OS work very well.  It's just 7... If vmware, you have a bug.  I have tried this on both my MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, and even my Hackintosh... still occur.  Windows 7 RC... work, this is the final version that does not work.

I'm very pleased to add network works, better with DHCP... manual settings do not work.  It creates a problem with the DNS system.

As I was going crazy with this problem, I decided to compare my WinXP.vmx, with access Internet works ok and Windows7.vmx file. The ethernet0.* lines are identical with the EXCEPTION of:

ethernet0.linkStatePropagation.enable line.

In Win XP that I set to 'FALSE' and Windows 7 are set to 'TRUE '.

I changed the value false in Win7 and after 3 hours of surfing I have more problems, I hope he stays this way without any

side effect. Hope this help other people with the same problem

Looking for the right place to post, so if my post does not belong here, please let me know where.

    The problem:

Updated to 8.1 Fusion Fusion 7 where I had a Windows XP Pro. After the merge upgrade I have upgraded to Windows 7 and followed the steps in the video by Stephen Gardner based on "upgrading a virtual machine VMware Fusion of Windows XP to Windows 7 (1015396).

After the removal and the reinstallation of the network card I have no network connection.

I tried to disable the Windows Firewall on the virtual machine and I gave permission to Fusion App and start App to run in the Norton Firewall on Mac.

I uninstalled and reinstalled VMware tools and tried different settings for the network card, but nothing gave me the connection to the network

  • Fusion 6.0.6 Windows 7 Pro 64 bit is installed in 32-bit

    Hello

When I install (using either method 'easy' fusion or not) Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, I find myself with a Windows 7 Pro 32 bit virtual machine.

I was looking for, but I don't see, not to specify the bits 32 vs 64-bit while doing the installation.

I use Mac OS 10.10.4, with 8 GB of RAM (4 GB virtual machine allocation, but reading on this subject...).

Just to make it a little more weird, I have already built a machine virtual win 7 Pro 64-bit (OEM) and which works perfectly.

I enclose the screenshots of the computer / properties for comparison. I think it is noted that the installation of Win 7 Pro 32 bit shows the "scoring system" as "unavailable".

In addition, the allocation of RAM for Windows 7 Pro 32 bit vm is NOT conducted through properly. I took care to change that to 4 GB, when I made this facility again, thinking that I had missed the first time. No, the change I made using the Fusion VM settings panel is certainly NOT current to the resulting virtual machine. It is always set correctly in that Fusion VM Control Panel settings.

Anyone can shed some light on this?

    Thank you in advance,

    Jack

Hi Jack and welcome on VMware communities!

The flavors of 32-bit and 64-bit Windows are separate installation media.  If you end up with a 32-bit operating system in the virtual machine, this is because the disk or image that you are installing to contains a 32-bit version of Windows.  Make sure you use the correct installation disc or image.

On the issue of memory size, was completely closed virtual machine when you have increased the RAM to 4 GB?  Try to restart the operating system, and then check if it shows the correct amount.

    See you soon,.

  • Windows 7 Pro - unidentified network domain PC connected Via Ethernet

Hello - we have several machines Windows 7 is joined to our domain.  Recently when move us a PC from one place in the building to the other and connect them to wired ethernet, they get the 'unidentified network' and it shows as 'public '.  If plug back us them on their original network node, it works very well and finds the network, no problem.

I did all the deforestation of the intellectual property, the command netsh, updated drivers, etc., but does not know what is happening.  Nothing has changed on the switches.  If I move a Windows XP computer, it works as expected.

    Thanks for your help!

  • 6980 HP on network, no two-sided printing unit equipped with Windows 8 Pro. Not available manual duplex printing

Windows 8 picked up my network printer and installed the drivers very well.

When I go to print, "manual duplex printing" is not available on PRINT ON BOTH SIDES.

The only option is 'off '.

Went through Control Panel to CUSTOMIZE YOUR PRINTER and manual duplexing is enabled for this printer!

    Kind regards

PS works fine on my machine windows 7 on the same network

New driver for 6980 downloaded automatically by windows 8. Now works fine

  • Can't access network shares, Windows 7 Pro, work network.

I have a simple with a desktop computer and computer network portable 4. The Office has recently been updated from xp to 7. 2 laptops are still in xp and 2 are running 7. XP 2 and 7 laptops can access each other and the office. The office is mainly used to synchronize laptops using SyncToy and share a printer. The last laptop now cannot access the desktop, but can access and is accessible by all other machines.

Laptops have shared with full control permissions folders / everyone. The Office was corresponding to the shared folders and shared my Docs for 2 users with approval limited to full control for the user. There is no password on the desktop, laptops have passwords defined.

When Laptop4 attempts to access the desktop, no shares or printers are displayed and a login screen appears. If a user name and no password is used, then actions become visible but the two MyDocs sharing causes an error "you don't have permission to access...". ».

Advanced sharing options are the same on all machines.

I tried a sfc/scannow and run all diagnose it, but in vain.

    Help, please.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I finally got it to work, but I had to conceed have no password on the desktop. very annoying on a home machine. Even the most annoying that this would be unnecessary if it was running XP.

  • Install Windows 10 Pro lowered home (with no product key) after expenses.

Received my Lenovo ThinkPad 11th yesterday and after much research, I decided to do a clean install. It came with WIndows 10 Pro and I checked the settings (that I created my Windows account at the same time) and he said that it has been activated using Windows. According to the instructions of Microsoft (and various YouTube videos, I've looked), once a machine is activated, it would automatically update the product key, so no need to find.

That is the problem. I had installed 10 Windows on a USB key and the installation went well, or so I thought. I checked the settings after installing different programs that I would use as he said that I need activate Windows. Well, checking settings, he lowered me 10 Windows Home and of course the the product key in the system (if it's still there) that is the error I get is not valid.

Of course, it is not a product key on the bottom of the computer and there is nothing in the box. How can I get my product key back so that I can install Pro back?

Using ProduKey, I get two different keys. One for the new Home edition and the other for the OEM Bios. I guess that I need reintsall (new) and use the key in BIOS Yes?

So guess what? He's back for Pro and it is activated!

I think what happened is that I downloaded the single language version and that's what he screwed up. I just redownloaded windows 10 (first on the menu drop-down) and he installed Pro and activated.

Creating new media doesn't let you choose, he will choose for you based on your product key from the system.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Reinstall Windows 8 Pro w/Media Center after flight computer laptop

I recently had to replace my Toshiba laptop computer because my old one was stolen. The new machine came with Windows preinstalled 8.1, and I can't reinstall Pro w/Media Center. • I am running Windows 7 Pro with Fusion 5, Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro, 10.8.3, 8GB, Excel 2013 crashes

I installed recently Fusion 5.0.3 and Windows 7 Pro on my MacBookPro 2009 so I could run Quickbooks 2013 and Excel 2013.  I knew that I was probably pushing the processor, so I always have to close all Mac applications before running VMware.  QuickBooks 2013 works beautifully, and I can see vmware-vmx in activity monitor using about 50% of the CPU.  The trouble begins when I open Excel 2013.  VMware-vmx charges to 140% of the CPU, and Excel stops responding.  I updated the VM Ram 2 GB (as recommended) and core processor 1.  Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

  • Activator Windows 8 Pro on VMWare Fusion 5 - product key does not work

I installed a copy retail of windows 8 pro on the fusion 5 using a 64-bit installation disc which worked well (it's my first virtual machine so I didn't install windows 8 to an existing partition of windows 7, so I installed just installed windows 8 new) during the installation it asked for the product key, which he accepted. After installation I tried to customize windows 8 and he told me that I had to "activate windows". I go into settings > activate windows, enter the product key and it will not accept it. He refuses my product key and I do not know how to work around.

How to activate windows? I bought a bad copy of windows 8? Should I buy an OEM version of windows 8? Any help would be great!

    Thank you

If you just do what it says in the section "Activate Windows 8 Pro Upgrade" Windows 8 Upgrade: pure install possible? and be done with this problem!
