FVS318N router keeps fall of network connectivity

I had consistent problems where my router removes all connectivity. It's both for the wired connections and wireless. When this happens, I am able to ping the routers IP address, but I am unable to connect to the router. I power cycle the router and he returned for a few hours to days, but problems continue to occur. NETGEAR sent me some router by RMA, but they have all experienced the same problem. I have Verizon FIOS. My Verizon router and the Linksys routers I have are solid as a rock. I want to use the Netgear for its VPN functionality. Netgear support was never ab, e to give me a solution. I am currently on the firmware that is. 4.3.3 - 5. what someone has any suggestions as to what may cause this behavior? Thank you

    Hi all - I've posted this problem in the past. As usual. The problem clears for several months and then comes back. It is with my FVS318N router. Since yesterday, I lost all connectivity several times a day. Yesterday, it fell by 10 times. When this happens. I am unable to pint the router or connect to the router by connecting your laptop directly to a port on the router. I also still have questions to try to broadcast of live content. Where it keeps buffering. Today, support told me to do a factory reset. Really, I didn't do that but agreed to it. The router remained for about 6 hours and crashed again. The only change that I made after the reset has been to put my SSID wireless to my setting and set a password. With my router Verizon FIOS and Linksys routers I ever connectivity issues. Netgear support sent me 3-4 routers via RMA. They all have the same experience. Knit weel for months, then started crashing. When it started crashing it is several times a day which makes this router unsable. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again for the responses. Rebooting the router is my challenge. In case of problem, the only way I can come back is the power cycle access so I wouldn't be able to get data from the syslog. I was not happy support not could not give me an ETA for that is when a person advances could connect to my router to see if they could discover something, but I realize support teams are busy. I agree an RMA more and keep my fingers crossed I will finally have a router that is reliable. As side note, my Cisco router has been online for about 5 days now, so I am confident the problem is with the Netgear router. Unfortunately, my confidence is not there with Netgear more but am willing to try a router more

    I have a Dell optiplex GX620 win. professional service pack 3 and linksys antena 24 GHz 802. 11B. I use internet MIFI Verizon wireless network. However, I continue to lose connections and I have to manually disable and enable the connection to the wireless network so that I can get to new networked.     This problem can occur if authentication enable IEEE 802. 1 X for this network checkbox is enabled. If this box is checked, but there is no server to authenticate the connection is interrupted. If you turn on the wireless network connection, it disconnects again after a short period.

    To disable authentication IEEE 802. 1 X, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.

    I have 2 PC:

    1 desktop running XP (SP3) on a H61DE/S3 Asrock mobo and Intel G620 2.6ghz CPU. RAM = 2 x 2 GB.

    3 wireless router D-Link DSL-2680 =
    The office is directly connected to the router via an ethernet cable wireless.
    I created a wireless network which consists of my office and cell phones with the help of a USB and the XP Wizard on my desk. I then clicked on "Network Setup Wizard" in the Control Panel on my desktop (XP) and created the network connections.
    When I boot-up the two machines, I can see and access the connections network of desktop and laptop.
    HOWEVER, if I let the machines for a while and then come back, although I can see the icon for "DESKTOP" in my network places on my laptop, when I click the icon, the cursor looks like this market, but then an error window appears stating that it cannot find the device and I want to diagnose the connection. When I click YES, sometimes, it detects the OFFICE and sometimes it doesn't.
    The same thing happens on the desktop when I click on the "PORTABLE computer" icon in "My Network places".
    The strange thing is, when I try to connect via Start Menu / run / \\'IP address on the laptop or desktop, I can connect usually either to the PC.
    The questions are
    1 can you explain why I should b affected by these connection question - is this a problem of compatibility between window7 and XP?

    I assume that the HOMEDESKTOP, in this case, XP is the master browser because it is physically connected to the router and it is this machine that I created the wireless network and local.

    N ° master of domain is chosen in an election.  All devices have an equal chance of being elected little matter how they are connected. (A domain controller can always win, but that's neither here nor there).  The problem here is that the Win 7 machine doesn't listen to the broadcasts and therefore think that it is the only device on the network and therefore chooses himself as master of go.  The XP machine is involved in a normal election except that the Win 7 machine does not participate because he is not listening.  They both choose and for a while, you have two masters to browse.  The only listening to computer (XP) finally gets tired of hearing machine Win7 and abandoned as a master browser.  Win 7 becomes the only browser then, but it does not work because he doesn't listen to any computer on the network.  You can check this by bringing a window prompt (start-> Run-> "cmd") and enter the command:
    nbtstat - a HOMEDESKTOP
    or
    nbtstat - a ROMANLAP1-PC
    If the targen computer thinks that he is a master of travel, you will see a line "__MSBROWSE__".

    For some reason, keeping the folders "My Documents" opened on both machines maintained the connection for 15 hours that day.

    Anyway that you can keep the active connection, the machines will partner with the other.  Once a connection is idling, then it must re-establish contact and is when the master browser or a response of diffusion is necessary and the Win 7 machine is unresponsive.

    I don't think there is a firewall in itself, but the way Windows 7 manages 'Home' vs networks 'Public' that can do behave like a firewall and cause problems with firewall-like.
