  • Pavilion g6 - 2217cl: the HP Pavilion g6 - 2217cl RAM and CPU/GPU upgrade

    Hey there, I am looking to upgrade the RAM and CPU/GPU on my G6 Pavilion. Here's my current characteristics;

    Laptop model: HP Pavilion G6 - 2217cl

    Operating system: Windows 10 family (x 64)

Current RAM: 6 GB (used 2 slots)

CPU/GPU: AMD A8 - 4500 APU with Radeon HD graphics card

What are the possibilities should I upgrade?

If more information is needed, I'll be happy to provide.

It supports up to 8 GB of memory and the processor can be upgraded to a 10 - 4600M. Here is the Manual:

    Manual

There is no video card to upgrade, but for the models of series AMD A video is contained in the processor itself and an upgrade of the processor also carries with it an upgrade for HD 7640 G HD 7660 G video. It's light but a bit noticeable and clock speed go from 2.8 ghz to 3.2 ghz, which is not huge but noticeable. Memory is a DDR3-1600 module, and you can replace your 2 gig with a 4 gig to spend 6 to 8.

Memory upgrade is as easy as... CPU/APU don't upgrade not so much.

  • downgrade from Notebook G7 - 2217cl to Win7 lack of USB drivers

Hello! I have a portable g7 - 2217cl I bought refurbished BB online. I hated the Win8 system, so I "had" to win7. I know that the pros here are immediately go on to say this downgrade from Win8 of Win7 is not recommended because of this problem. However, the ONLY question I need fixed is that the three USB ports are inadmissible due to missing drivers. I can't find these drivers, of course. The computer itself works a lot better on the Win7 system. Start is smooth and it it less glitch.

Y at - the drivers of compatible USB controller that I could download? I do not have my recovery disc for Win8 (I know, stupid of me to lose those). It is not a full drawback, as I can still operate the machine and use the keyboard to move the pointer. Œuvres Ethernet, sound (loudspeaker internal and made external) and charge cord work. I have not yet tested VGA or HDMI, but I did not need to. I do a lot with it. I just need USB ports to work so that I can use my mouse and printer.

    Thank you for any response!

    UPDATE!

I found my answer on further research (Interestingly enough, immediately after posting this question).

for others who may have this issue, I will post this link because it worked for me:

It is the first link in the second line of banhien.

I clicked on the link, and I did what he said. I clicked on install express and follow the guests. and now, my USB ports work (3).

  • Wiring of G7 - 2217CL wireless network card:

A problem with my G7 - 2217CL has forced me to exit the screen. Until I get a new screen, wireless adapter threads are not available. When you use the laptop as a miniature desktop with the detached screen computer, is possible that I can rewire or plug the adapter wireless laptop computer directly? I think that the reason why the son adapter running across the screen, it is that it has a webcam.

    Hi @MeanTomatoes,

    Thank you for your query.

There is not a recommended method to plug the adapter wireless without the screen.  You might look into purchasing a wireless dongle which will connect to a USB port.  If you select any place that sells computer accessories, you should be able to locate one. Places such as Staples, Office Max, Best Buy or Wal-Mart are examples.

    Good luck!

  • Downgrade from Windows 7 64: G6 - 2217CL

    Hello!

I am in hot trouble finding the W7 drivers for my Pavilion. Graphics drivers were fairly easy, but I need help with everything .

    Hello:

First install the amd chipset drivers and reboot.  You want the first file on the Web page.

To install the smbus and usb 3 controllers.

    http://support.AMD.com/en-us/download/chipset?OS=Windows%207%20-%2032

You can then use the rest of the W7 x 64 drivers and this model on your software except the wireless.

  • HP pavilion g6 - 2217CL left hinge of the screen

  • Adding other repairs to a service order

    Hello

I know that this is not the right place for it, but I don't know where to put this. There is no general 'customer support' support forum.

Recently, I put in a repair order for my laptop (HP Pavilion g7 - 2217cl) because the right hinge broke. The service representative said that is not uncommon because of normal wear and tear and that he would replace it. I waited for the FedEx box in the mail so that I can send my laptop to HP service center.

Now my fan has stopped working. I believe that the pieces of the broken hinge have somehow got stuck inside, because just before the fan failure, I heard something rattling around inside. My laptop computer auto closed due to overheating, and when it restarts several minutes later he informed me that the fan works no longer.

Unfortunately, I can not open a new ticket, because I have an open the hinge. Is it possible that I can contact the HP Support or edit a ticket and add my new number? HP repair will run a check to see if everything is stopped before you ship my computer laptop back, catch the damaged fan and fix it?

    Hello

If your device is sent to the service center HP for the issue of the joint, then before sending the computer to you. They need to ensure if the computer is in working condition. Since you do not have the box still FedEx, you can always call HP support and even talk to them. So that they can take note of this and they can inform the Service Center to have control over the issue of the fan as well.
