  I found the working version, and it is version F.08.

  Supposedly new version have different Active cables, and this is the reason why the screen is dark.

  So, case closed, everything is perfect.

  There is an old proverb says 'if it is not broke, don't fix it."

  This is True for computers as well as other stuff.

  If you have something that does not correctly as your wifi, you may need to update the driver. But if your don't not questioning, no. need to mess with it.

  These tools 3rd party for hunting to the updates are useless and can contain malware or bar tools/spyware that you may never have been added. You can safely go you to the HP site or use the HP Support Assistant tool to search for updates.

  So yes, stay away from such things. Just my humble opinion.

I considered buying an SSD for her to help performance (it keeps well enough yet, but I would like an additional performance for a key task). I read online somewhere (not necessarily good reputation) that the HP - G72 uses the interface Serial ATA-150 for hard drives, which, from my understanding, has a maximum speed of 150 MB/s. I know that the laptop is old, but this technology dates back to 2003 or more and the standard SATA had many improvements 2010. It would be very surprising to me if HP has chosen to use it.

  Your laptop's hard drive controller has a SATA II (3.0 Gbps) interface.

  It features a Mobile Intel 5 series chipset.  They have the support of SATA II disk controllers.

  You did all your Windows updates?

  Have you ran the Windows troubleshooting tool?

• Windows 7, update services does not work

  I have a problem to update software in windows 7.

  I have a HP G72 laptop.

  I replaced my hard drive. 350GB, Western Digital 750Go digital West.

  -J' made an image of the C partitie (if it is 3 months, installed for the recovery partition, new updated worked after that).

  The new disk hard there however any possible updates of windows. (the bar is red on the left).

  -After that, I reinstalled the original image when the laptop was new (DVD image). Same result on updates.

  -Remove the folders from the dir c/windows/SoftwareDistibution, no results.

  -Checked the status of services: windows update is statred and in automatic mode.

  N ' tried microsoft 'Fix - it' no results.

  -updated the drivers intel, no results.

  -Downloaded System Update Readiness of windows to resolve the error (Windows6 1 - KB982018 - v3 - x 64). When installing, I get the error 0xc8000247. So I'm not able to install this software.

  Looked after errors in the CBS.log newspaper: found M²: cannot read the time value RptTime from the registry. [HRESULT = 0 X 80070490 ERROR_NOT_FOUND]

  Do a clean boot, without result.

  Does anyone know a solution to this problem.

  Windows 7, update services does not, RESOLVED.

  The problem occurs when you change your hard drive for a bigger, in my hard drive of the case a GB Western Digital 340 WD 750 GB drive hard.

  For the Windows automatic updates again you need update the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driverdriver. It will not be updated when you have intel check your drivers! For me, only the 9.5.6.1001 version worked. This driver can be found at http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02219204 .

• HP G72 - Bricked - USB BIOS restore problems

  I disabled the "virtualization" in my BIOS of my HP G72-a05SG. But once saved, it restarts and the NUMLOCK and CAPSLOCK lights flash 2 times, so, according to this site, the BIOS is damaged. And my HP_TOOLS partition does not exist on my hard drive.

  So I prepared my USB with "HP-update BIOS UEFI ()" and "HP System Diagnostics (UEFI)" and follow the instructions in this. It is not back there, but the laptop to access the hard drive, the available USB drive all the time beeing, but nothing happenes, no beep, no video output.

  My laptop is fully mature, or I did something wrong?

  Can someone download his HP_TOOLS partition from disk hard so that I can try to recover the BIOS from there?

  Fixed it myself using this wonderful guide (maybe this file naming tips are also useful). The HP BIOS update appeared and picked up the image of the BIOS of the stick. Yay!

  Replaced the screen due to the vertical and horizontal lines in color. Computer worked sometimes normal. I thought it was fixed but then while doing a HP Diagnostics program the computer says shut down because the situation batttery likely to damage the computer. I tested the AC adapter. I installed a new battery and as a first step, it still worked. I have updated and scanned with AVG & Malwarebytes. Do you have another HP diagnosis and at one point was told to restart. Never, he was still alive at this point.

  There is no switch on the led power and W/LAN (12 F). Blue lights run on times indicating Cap locks and locks numbers are engaged. I did a full factory restore before it came to this point and updated bios (for F 37) and downloaded the updates of graphics chipsets too. (after the screen is installed) The only thing it does now, it's making noise at startup and power led lights now light guard cycling. (light, light on) every ten seconds.

  I see that after replacing the screen, you have since fallen on an issue where the notebook does not start. The display is empty and have a blinking light. I will do my best to help you with this problem.

  I recommend starting with these documents:
  Computer does not start and the lights blink or the computer will beep
  Troubleshooting of black screens with no start-up or start-up error message

  These should test you the material to see if something specific causing the error. The document can also help determine if there is a code of error being indicated by your laptop.

  Start with the above, please let me know the results.

  After the reinstallation of Win7, the stereo mix option is missing in the recording/sound/control panel devices. The microphone option is there and it works, but I can't get the rear stereo mix (impossible to record the streaming, youtube, etc.)

• Video laptop G72 dies after start upward

  I have a G72 with the Radeon 5470 gpu.  2 days ago, my wife received a blue screen on Windows 7 x 64, stating that the driver had stopped working.  At go here the G72 not would make on the desktop without the screen goes dead.  The machine starts in safe mode fine.   I tried as much as I could think to solve this problem, but finally backed its data and restored at the factory.   The problem persisted and I ended up disabling the ATI card in the control panel.  The machine seemed to work after that.   I have begain long BONE up to current curing process.  About 2 sets of updates after Win 7 SP1 the problem came back.   I started in safe mode and checked the driver and discovered that it had been reactivated.  I tried to disable it again and reboot.  Sometimes she remains disabled through reboot, but sometimes it isn't.  At this point the machine turns to a black screen (video not only in black but dead) after that I sign.   This was without taking into account the option enable or disable the status on the ATI card.

  Then...   I tried to make another hook the operating system and got to half way through.  Installing Windows now tries to restart and after that the machine is in place, the screen goes dead.

  Any suggestions?   Is there a way to disable the card in the bios?  It can be physically removed the card?

  Thanks for your help on this.  The hard reset doesn't change anything.

  After about 20 restarts, I could lift the machine with a regular VGA driver and reinstall the driver of IntelHD.  I can now go to full resolution.  I agree that the ATI card is broken.  Probably because of the heat. (just my opinion)

  For all those running in this kind of failure the key here is persistence.  Keep restarting in safe mode and disable the ATI card in Device Manager, and eventually, you will get a clean boot.  Once you have a clean boot, install your Intel drivers and be happy that you have a laptop and not a brick.
