    Hello

Since I upgraded to Sierra, IMAP e-mail account set up on mac mail does not work how it should. For some weird reason, number of mails in my Inbox attachments disappeared and I can't find them. I can see the attachment on my IOS mail, but not Sierra mail. Can you please help?

    Thank you

    Hi krmshn,

I understand that after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra, you can't view attachments you receive via your IMAP e-mail account. I know it's important to have access to all your files, so I'm happy to help you.

It is possible that during the upgrade, your IMAP mailbox has been corrupted and prevents you to view these attachments. To resolve this problem, we will rebuild your mailbox.

    To rebuild your mailbox:

    1. Open mail
    2. Select the mailbox in the sidebar to the left
    3. Use the Mail menu bar and choose BALL > rebuild. This will take some time depending on the number and size of messages in the Inbox mailbox.

    Hi PTDiMarzio,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple.

You can correct Mail Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra does not ("Mail quit unexpectedly") by removing the folder container "com.apple.mail.savedState." Mac OS X saves the locations of the window and documents open most programs to restore them when the program is started after you quit smoking. Sometimes after upgrading from Mac OS X to the latest version, there may be some problems of manipulation with the prior consent of the State of the mail which could lead to Sierra registered mail is not an answer and crashing.

How to remove the Mail from the saved state:

    1. Force quit Mail app ('Application is not responding do not"question!).
    2. Go to the Finder.
    3. Hold the Option key and select 'library' in the menu 'go. '
    4. Go to the folder 'containers > com.apple.mail > data > library > state saved application' and move the folder called "com.apple.mail.savedState" to the trash.
    5. Empty the trash.
    6. Restart your Mac.
    7. Mail recovery.

    Hope this will help.

    See you soon!

  • VIPs file not shown in MacOS Sierra mail

Since the upgrade to Sierra (Version 10.12), I can't see the normal (with star) VIP folder and mailboxes for each VIP under the level of the macOS Mail Inbox (to Version 10.0 (3226)). Upgrade deletes the folder? I am not sure when the VIP file is missing. Is it possible to recreate it?

I tried to choose the e-mail mailbox > rebuild after having poking around the VIPs folder in my iCloud email account. A few hours later, the VIPs file now appears in the list of boxes to macOS Mail letters and seems to work fine. I suspect that the reconstruction has contributed, but do not know for sure.

  • Sierra mail hangs up

I loaded the operating system of the Sierra and the problem I have is that on the startup of mail, I get the upgrade mail screen and just, it hangs and does not open a message window.  However I have another user installed on my machine, and this account has had no problems with the upgrade of the e-mail and mail opening and loading of the old and new emails.  This second account was much less old messages.  I suspect that my mail in my e-mail account data is corrupted.  It is not clear to me how I can reload mail data time machine other than the whole system of return back to before the new operating system is loaded.  A suggestions?

    Hello iron Geezer.

If I understand your message right, whenever you open mail in your user account on your Mac, you're stuck in a screen to upgrade and never actually need you in your Inbox. I know how important it is to have the Mail app works fine on your Mac, so I'm happy to help you to get to the bottom of this.

What I would recommend to do first is to restart your Mac, by logging in to your user account and then hold the SHIFT key while you click on the e-mail application. Now keep shift key until it opens Mail. This will cause the Mail to open without boxes to specific letters or messages to open. Give Mail some loading time to see if the problem persists.

If you want to try the restoration of boxes to letters with Time Machine, the steps detailed here: use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac to view your messages in Time Machine, you'll need to have the app open to the time that you Mail brought into Time Machine.

Then you can try to start in safe mode to delete some system-level caches and check and if necessary repair disk. Once you log in safe mode, reboot normally and test the issue again.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

If you continue to have problems with your e-mail application, the next thing that I recommend is reinstall macOS so Mail gets reloaded. It won't have to erase all the data on your Mac. You can find the steps on how to reinstall listed under the "If you're reinstalling for other reasons" section of How to reinstall Mac OS , you can skip step 2 in this article since you won't be wiping your drive first.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care.

  • macOS Sierra mail - Mail change email address Please HELP!

I just upgraded to macOS Sierra on my MacBook Pro, the end of 2013, the laptop.

When I send an email to say my wife, when I look in the sent folder, it shows that he has been sent to a business associate.

In other words, for example, if I send to: "[email protected]", it shows in sent as a "[email protected]".

    * They are just made to email addresses to illustrate my point.

My address book is not synchronized on my Mac using iCloud. In fact, my address book on my MacBook Pro is completely empty.

This could be the cause of this change after clicking on send?

As an update to anyone who can meet this problem, after talking with level 2 support, there seems to be a bug with the mail in the Sierra. Your emails DO NOT get sent to the wrong email in error, it looks just like that in the view of the items in your Inbox or sent. A future update should correct this problem of displaying wrong email address on emails.

  • macOS Sierra - Mail subject line empty on the answer

In the latest iteration of the mail under macOS Sierra, on you reply to a message in the subject line is empty.

This happens only with Microsoft Exchange accounts and does not happen with my gmail account.

I'm having this issue as well. I also use a Messaging module MailButler call in an Exchange environment. I didn't notice the question with my personal account which is not in an Exchange environment so I don't think it's MailButler but I will check and then update this post.

  • Since the upgrade to Sierra, Mail will not recognize or filter spam

I'm having the problem where almost nothing goes in my junk e-mail folder. I rechecked my mail spam filtering preferences and I have it configured to enable filtering and move the Junk to junk e-mail folder. Those are the only two boxes checked. That the mail comes, I have systematically report as junk, but no matter how many times I do that junk mail is still not reported as spam in the future, nor is it place in my spam box. I really don't know what to do at this point.

  • Slow mail after upgrade of the Sierra

Since my upgrade to Sierra, Mail has been slow to load messages.  Before, when I chose a message in mail seems almost instantly in the viewer of allowing me to pass by mail with either the arrow or remove the key quickly. Now when a message is selected, it takes a second or two for the message in the Viewer.  Really boring.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you, Tom

I can understand how it would be boring. I suggest the reconstruction of the mailbox, or all the mailboxes, according to the following: Mail for Mac: rebuild the mailbox.

It will take a few moments to complete, based on the total number of messages in the mailbox store. Until he finishes, it is normal to see the content of the overview column Mail flash message or disappear briefly that she rebuilt the message database. It will also slow to mail operation until there finishes.

It would be prudent to back up your Mac before doing this, but if rebuilding a mailbox causes all e-mail messages that are deleted they were probably not recoverable in any case. I recommend you save in this particular circumstance in an abundance of caution, but it is something that everyone should do.

  • macOS Mail Sierra app mailing list oldest first

    Hello

I use the classic layout in mail (the list) with the new mail showing at the bottom of the list. Since I've upgraded to Sierra, Mail displays always the first mail in the list above, well always new mail is selected, after it is brought to the foreground. This occurs when the mail was completely closed and when it has been reduced.

I checked the Mail preferences, but I couldn't find any option it. So I guess that's a little bug in the Sierra.

If anyone can confirm this? Or someone has a solution, even for that?

It is not an option for me change the order to the new messaging on top, because I'm too used to this layout (and it has always worked!).

    Thanks and greetings

    Niko

Edit: I found a topic on the same issue in OS x Lion, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be resolved:

Hi, when you have your mail open application, you will see the gray bar on the top of your mail... it will say: sort by date. If you click on this bar, at the bottom of the bar, you will see more former message on top, or, most recent on top. You can also check your display on your menu bar bar higher, so that your email application is primarily first, and it has the same selections.

  • Sierra OSX mail

    Hi Apple,

Just upgraded to OSX Sierra 10.12 (A 16, 323), MacBook Pro (17 inch, early 2011).

    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, RAM = 8 GB DDR3 at 1333 MHz.

After upgrading to Sierra, e-mail was completely rebuild, and now the app slows system performance where my Mac is almost unusable.  Spinning balls, delays of 30 seconds, etc..

After leaving messaging, things speed up slightly.  Restart my Mac accelerates again until I run the Messaging.

Could you please tell, and if it is a common problem, could you please address it in the next update of Sierra?  Had no problem under Yosemite.

    Thank you very much
    Erik
