Get automatically disconnected Windows XP

Looking for general help. Bought a Satellite MX30X at Christmas. When I used it on the internet for the first time downloaded window updates to day (I think), talked to some friends on MSN (got a virus or 20 along the way) and then the next time I turned on the Windows machine would log me automatically (IE could not access my account). Looked on the web for solutions and gave up and used the recovery disc, lost nothing that had not put something important on the hard drive. Really nervous about this breed and lose all my stuff.
Any ideas how that happened?
Any thoughts on how to stop this happening again?
If this happens, y at - it solutions other than the last resort of the recovery disk?

Hi James,

How many accounts do you have on your laptop? You have a password for your account? If you need some information about user accounts, you can find it on
http://www.theeldergeek.com/kbi_user_accounts.htm or
http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;282866.

If you have a new laptop, try installing SP2 and will automatically download all the necessary updates. On the Toshiba site, there are lots of information about SP2 and how to install it.

Go to http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com and under Support & downloads, you can find service packs, Microsoft.

I was just on the phone with a representative who called me from Adobe. I had to use the activity monitor and close everything associated with adobe. And then restart my machine, after making sure that your system preferences > network > advanced > Proxies > inside, be sure to use passive FTP Mode (PASV) is DISABLED.

There are several sites that I keep in my tabs for the purposes of monitoring, but they have periods of ridiculous timeout from 5 to 15 minutes. If your computer restarts spontaneously, you are probably blue-screening, and ready to the default reset whenever this happens. It's a poor one by default, and you should change. Do right click my computer, and then choose Properties. On the Advanced tab, click settings under Startup and recovery. Under system failure, uncheck 'automatically restart.

  • Norton Internet Security 2010 automatically close Windows Defender? __

    My set up:

Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium, Vista SP2

    HP Desktop

    Modem DSL Connection

    Norton Internet Security 2010

I just installed Norton Internet Security 2010. I get a pop up notice of Windows indicating that Windows Defender is disabled. When I had Norton Antivirus/spyware 2008 (that I used until the installation of Norton Internet Security 2010) Windows defender was on, but not in real time.  Then, when I'd go to

The Task Manager > click on the Services tab > click on the Services button in the lower right

This will display a list of Services. I scroll down and find the Windows Defender Service

It shows NOT on and manual start

Before the instalation of Norton Internet Security 2010, it has shown as Started and startup type automatic

Is this the right setting with Norton Internet Security installed? I do not use Windows Defender, but I read that the Windows Defender Service is responsible for other things in addition to anti-spyware scanning.

So should I change the startup type?

    and start the service?

Or, as I said if I don't use it. leave it alone?

    Q. "Norton Internet Security 2010 automatically closes Windows Defender?"

    A. Yes.  It uses its own antispyware software.  Having two different types will result in conflicts and compatibility issues.

  • What is the safest way to get back to Windows 7 from Windows 10?

Windows 7 Edition Home Premium.  Open windows yesterday and it is automatically upgraded to Windows 10. To my dismay, some of the files just disappeared. I do have Windows 10!   What is the safest way to get back to Windows 7?   Restore help?

    Hello

first go to your c drive and find the folder called windows, old.

In this folder, you can find all your documents, photo ect. who are on your windows operating system 7.

I suggest to first make a backup of the files you want to keep on an external drive or a drive of Pentecost copy paste, to be sure of not lost.

to return to your old windows 7:

go to settings - updated and security - recovery - get back into windows 7
