I want to install Windows 7 OS computers on a domain with Small Business SERVER 2003.  Curiously, I see all the computers on the network, where I should be able to, but one of them WK02011, is not accessible from all Windows 7 systems because there are multiple devices with the same name on the network according to a diagnosticn check.  WK02011 is visible and accessible from other systems on the network that are runjning XP OS.  There is only one device named WK02011 on the network.  I don't have this problem with any other XP system - that is - I can see and access all of the other XP machines on the network with the exception of WK02011.  I can't access WK2011 from the server and the server indicates that it is multiple devices with the same ID.  Rename the XP would be complicated because of having to re - set up the service to the customer and then turn around and install 7 OS in the workstation in the coming days.

How to find the ghost device double?

    Hello

Your question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for Windows 7 on TechNet. Please post your question in the Technet forums. You can follow the link to your question:

  • Device Manager see the some articles several times

Thanks for any idea that you can offer,

    Hi danno2cu2,

    · Do you remember any changes made on your computer before the show?

    · What is the devices that are listed in several instances of work?

    · Are there error codes listed in the Device Manager?

This can be a reason of the ghost devices that were previously installed and that can be displayed or also if the installation of the device has failed previously.

You can have a look on the links of shot.

  • GEYED icons in Device Manager

In Device Manager, I have a long list (gray diamond icons some more dark grey with a black outline) under the title "-pilot no Plug and Play" if I right click on the paler gray icon then 'properties', I see generally the following "currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To resolve this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. "The gray darker with a black outline to do the same thing usually result in the following text"this device does not work correctly.

If you have any problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter. All or part of them should they be uninstalled? would be grateful for the help.

Normally, you don't see "Non-plug and play drivers" unless you have checked "Show devices" in the Device Manager View menu.  You should not modify any elements who say, "this device is functioning." On the contrary, uncheck the option 'Show hidden devices' in the view menu so that you won't be tempted to do something is causing a problem.

It is even rarer to see devices "absent."  You should only be able to see "missing" devices (that is, not connected to the computer) If you follow the directions here--> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539?wa=wsignin1.0 these devices 'ghosts' were installed at a certain point, when they were connected to the computer.  If you uninstall one of these devices, the next time that you connect such a device, he settled again.  If you uninstall it, the unit will be ready for use the next time that it is connected without having to install again.

Most of the time, you should let only ghost devices.  Sometimes, however, a failed installation can cause a ghost entry that may cause conflicts of resources with other devices.  In this case, the ghost entry displays a warning icon and must be uninstalled.

  • Renaming or deleting a ghost or ghost car

I have not installed, a new program or a device, in some time, but all of a sudden a ghost lecteur_CD appeared under my computer.  He has no material corresponding to it and is labeled CD Drive (E :) and contains 0 bytes out of 0)  (Type: CD player and file system: unknown under properties)  Normally I would just ignore him but I had 4 external hard drives already installed and when it was created it changed the letters to each of them (Drive (E :) is therefore now drive (f) and so on) and this mess with all my links throughout my computer.)  Especially the itunes that has all my songs to a folder on the external drive and it can't find them because of the drive letter change.  I tried Device Manager and it does not appear (even after having seizes the statement to display the devices hidden in the command prompt) it also does not appear under _LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet MountedDevices either.  System restore up to a week before this problem occurred does not and finally I tried to rename the disks in disk management, but the ghost CD drive E appears not here for me to remove it and I can't rename the drive I want like E because it does not appear as an option in the drop-down list.  At this point, I'm full of ideas so any help and get rid of or removing this thing would be a BIG help.  Thank you.

    Hello

Ghost devices can appear for various reasons. The most common reason is perhaps a mistake to stop with a removable drive. Most of the people don't know this,
but there are in fact three different ways to disconnect a removable drive.

  • MTP device when connecting Samsung MP3 error

My computer won't let me use my Samsung MP3 yp-p2jcb/xaa model. I use Windows Vista.

I went to the website of Samsung and chatted with them. Him gave me this troubleshooting link: my computer is not recognizing my player when I connect it I tried everything and nothing has worked. Finally, he suggested that I have to contact Microsoft. The device is plug-n-play, so they did not all drivers. I took the camera and plugged on my friends computer, running Windows 7, and the MP3 works perfectly. My computer has had no other problem with USB connections.

When I check the Device Manager, it shows the MP3 as P2 under other with an exclamation point. The error I get is "the drivers for this device are not installed. After that, I saw Code 1 and Code 28.

Then, I tried to reinstall the driver to choose "Browse my computer for driver software" and then me C:\\Windows\system32\driverstore on my computer. It has been proposed by Samsung. I get the following message.

Windows encountered a problem installing the software driver for your device

Windows found the software and driver for your device but encountered an error trying to install it.

    ?   MTP device

There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit their website and check the support section for driver software.

I do not understand that she finds the driver software, but cannot install it. The manufacturer can not help with this issue more as they operate very well, they have no drivers and they helped me to solve the problems. I uninstalled the device, restarted my computer and tried to plug it in again. It did not work. I'm lost and it seems obvious to me it has something to do with Vista. What is the next step I have to do?

I stupidly, twice - after using USB flash drives - just shot when he in fact without removing them properly. Now, they are listed at all times in my 'Device Manager' and in 'my computer '. I went into Device Manager and tried to uninstall them. It seemed to work but the next time I booted up Vista found drivers and now they are back in 'my computer' and Device Manager. This does not seem to be a problem, but I would like to get rid of them.

  • Gamepad not detected

I will describe the situation in detail.

First of all, I've upgraded to Windows 7.  When I had installed my games, I tried to add my Joystick.  I discovered that Windows 7 does not support the standard game, only USB port devices.  No problem, I have a cable converter that allows me to use my Joystick gameport on a USB port.  I plugged and got nothing.  No sound, nothing.  I tried searching in the menu devices, the game controller menu, even the Device Manager, but it is nowhere.  It is as if she is not at all connected.

I thought it would be that the joystick is too old and not supported, but it is a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro and it is apparently supported.

I thought that maybe the USB port was defective, but I have the same problem no matter where I connect it, and other devices operate normally on all ports.  I thought that perhaps the adapter was defective, but my Gamepad works to use it.

In the end, I went out and bought a Saitek Aviator USB gamepad.  I connect it and... nothing.  Exactly the same problem as the Sidewinder.

The drivers are up to date.  The port works, the joystick works on my old computer, the adapter works with the Gamepad and all of them are supported by Windows.  I am at a loss.  What else could it be?

I just bought an external hard drive, but he's not talking to my computer.  The manufacturer says that it uses generic drivers included with Windows. I tried to download a driver updated from the manufacturer's website, but when it came for the installation of the drivers USB 3.0 Root Hub and controller, the installation fails with an error Code 31. The external drive is a WD My Passport Ultra, so I returned it to the retailer and they he swapped against a Seagate Extpansion but I have exactly the same problem.

  • Convert computer virtual Hyper-V on ESXi 4.1

    Hello

I'll be using vCenter Converter Enterprise 4.2.1 to convert a few Hyper-V virtual machines to ESXi 4.1. Converter

has an option for Hyper-V and see the virtual machine. These convert motor on or off? Any gotcha in this process?

You convert Hyper v (2008) or Hyper-V 2.0 (2008 R2).  If you use Hyper-V (2008) then you want to remove your integration components before the conversion.  Depending on your operating system, you may need to change your network driver.  The only other requirements is to go into your virtual machine once converted and remove all ghost devices in DevMgr.  You can do that by typing the following in a command prompt form:

    Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1
    Start devmgmt.msc

Go to the file menu, expand the view and select Show hidden devices.

Good luck.  Ive done much P2Vs of Hyper-V with great success.

  • [dv6 3044el] Simple PCI - Ghost modem device?

    Hi all!

    I have a

    HP Pavilion DV6-3044el

After installation clean Win7x64 PRO and after installing the drivers (and correctly updates all windows update done)

in Device Manager, it seems that there is a modem peripheral ghost

It is addressed with the legend

    "Simple PCI Communications controller"

Research on web search engines I could understand that his unknown device specification is referred to as the 56 k Modem... Just one problem: this model of laptop has no modem...

Of course, even by train to install generic drivers did not help.

    What can I do?

    Thanks in advance

  • iCloud, creating dozens of "Untitled" ghost calendars

The legend says it all.  I have about 6-7 calendars I created over the years and used successfully.  However, some time in the past few weeks, iCloud began to create calendars 'Untitled' ghosts - up limit hard iCloud of 100 total - and I can't delete them.  Well - I * can * remove but they are recreated in a minute or two.

Has anyone ever seen this problem before, and if so, have they any suggestion to find out how to clean it?  I can't create calendars new now (I guess I could just rename one of them), but more to the point my devices seem to become a little confused.

    For what it's worth, I'm syncing 3 OS X (running 10.11.5) and 2 (running 9.3.2). iOS devices

    Hello

On your Mac, open System Preferences > ICloud

Clear the check box next to the calendars and select re.

On the device, tap settings > iCloud

Disable schedules and then turn it back on.

Give iCloud minutes re sync your calendars.

  • Ghost icons

    Mini iPad IOS 9,31

I have a "Ghost" icon (library of Panasonic). Not sure why there is a problem in the first place, although the Apple software updated recently, so maybe it's the first cause.

    I tried the following

Hot and cold reboot with or without icon WiFi remains

Cannot delete as usual (highlight and press on delete) icon icon rest

Icon can be removed from the list of applications in the settings

I tried to reinstall it from App Store (open pressed) nothing happens.

    All ideas

Not clear what you mean by hot and cold reboot. Have you tried a forced reboot? Hold down the home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds , until the Apple logo appears. Then sign out of the iTunes Store and reconnect.

If that doesn't help, try a system restore.

First save your device via iTunes. Import your photos on your computer, and then copy all the important data. Try to restore as new first and test IT. If it's back to normal try restore the backup, however if the backup is corrupt and returns the question, you would have to restore like new again and reconfigure from scratch. It is important to have your photos and your saved data separately from the backup.
