GPIB-USB-HS Windows drivers only

I use a GPIB-USB-HS USB GPIB adapter for laboratory automation and need to install drivers for devices on a certain number of the PC lab.  All I need are windows drivers and eventually DLL managed, although I would rather deploy DLLs and my applications.  All my software automation runs on the CLR and not of labview.

My question:

How can I get only the drivers for this device?  The only download that I can find on NI.com ( http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2129/lang/en ) installs almost 400 MB of software which should really go on my lab PCs.  In addition, the size of the package makes deployment and maintenance a bit unmanageable to me.

Best regards

Peter Baughman

Hi Peter,.

Unfortunately, there is currently no 'activity' version of the GPIB driver, so the link you provided is the right driver which should be installed on each computer that will run your GPIB software. Without having to install this driver, the GPIB-USB-HS will not be recognized by the client computers.

Best,

Is it possible to install GPIB-USB-HS on a Win 2003 Server machine?

    Thanks for your help

    Kalize

Windows Server 2003 32-bit R2 enables PAE by default ("physical address Extension") mode for addressing memory above the 4 GB limit.  National Instruments supports this operating system, it does not address memory above the 4 GB limit by using EAP setting and many pilots OR will fail to load if this setting is enabled.  (Note that your computer may intuitively put some of your memory above the 4 GB limit, even if you only have 4 GB of RAM).

On Windows Server 2003, you can disable the EAP or prevent Windows to use addresses beyond 4 GB, which allows loading the drivers EITHER.  Please see KB 54D9I6M6: OR software failure when PAE (physical address Extension) is activated on Windows operat... for more information.

The HS uses a proprietary technology to expand 7.9 Mbps speed, but instruments also supports the HS standard. Use the HS if you have the choice.

I wouldn't say HS488 exclusive at this stage, as it was added to the IEEE standard, but not all the instrument providers have chosen to use.

Even if your instruments do not support the HS488 to approach the 7.9 Mbps Dennis mentioned, you can always get the best performance by using a GPIB-USB-HS. The GPIB-USB-B speed is limited by the maximum USB 1.1 speed, while the GPIB-USB-HS is a USB 2.0 device. This allows the GPIB-USB-HS to deliver about 1.8 MB/s using the traditional handshake GPIB, if your instrument is able to support. The GPIB-USB-B could reach only about 1 MB/s. The difference would be more visible if you use instruments that transfer large amounts of data back through the bus.

You should also consider that the GPIB-USB-B was not produced by OR for many years, so everything you buy is going to be very old. Even the GPIB-USB-HS also was replaced last year by the most recent card GPIB-USB-HS +. While that still USB 2.0, the GPIB-USB-HS + has a faster processor, reducing the latency on many operations. It also includes bus GPIB analyzer capabilities, if you need to debug to the GPIB signal level.

  • MAX does not detect my instrument 488.2 GPIB-USB-HS, but Windows XP Device Manager only

    Hello

I have a problem when you use the 488.2 GPIB-USB-HS, I see the device in Windows XP Device Manager, but it is not visible in the MAX, I do not see even a section for devices GPIB. However, when I try to install a new device, GPIB, the Wizard MAX tells me that it is one of the instruments GPIB installed on the computer which GPIB0 - USB-GPIB-HS. Do you know what is the reason to do this, because I want to use a multimeter in LabVIEW via GPIB, but I can't access it, I don't even see that there is a GPIB connection in the computer (in LabVIEW).

    Kind regards

    Alejandro Rodriguez

It's the kind of old. Have you tried the last?

  • I have two devices gpib-usb-hs; two of them work in MAX, but will only work in labview, help please?

    Hello

For my application, I need to communicate with two instruments by using both devices gpib-usb-hs. I use Windows XP, Labview 6.1, MAX 5.1 version and NI488.2 version 2.42. I checked and this ni488.2 driver should be compatible with my devices gpib-usb-hs and my versions of windows and labview. I also tried versions older and more recent NI488.2 without success.

I can communicate with my instruments properly in MAX, tell me that the devices themselves are functional. When I try to connect with my instruments using labview (using the example of gpib of labview), only devices gpib-usb-hs communicates with success. The other device returns the EDVR error: connection to the device or driver error.

I don't really know where to go from here. The only thing I found strange was that the gpib-usb-hs work was has an alias name assigned visa while the unworking device does not. I tried to give him an alias name, but this did not help.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There are many free tutorials on GPIB. It should explain how the various instruments can be connected to a single controller.

That being said, even if it's unnecessary, you should have no problem with multiple controllers on the same pc. The two being connected, they pass all the tests in MAX? You are using an old driver and seem to have tried several different versions. I suspect a driver issue, and I advise you to uninstall all the drivers GPIB and VISA and then start again. But not all necessary can be done to satisfy your curiosity.

  • GPIB-USB-HS and USB-8451 communication issues - appearing only in VISA

    Hello

I recently started a new job and have had communication problems between my adapter GPIB-USB-HS, my VISA or MAX-Labview and USB-8451 I2C/SPI interface.  I installed LabView to 32 bits, OR-488. 2, the driver for the 8451 on my windows desktop and VISA 16.0 7.

In the windows Device Manager, the 8451 appears as a device USB of NI-VISA and Gbspecifications FOR-USB-HS presents itself as a GPIB Interface of NOR.  Two of these instruments are recognized NI Max so but communication Gbspecifications FOR add-in adapter (and connected instruments) fails and he can't find the instruments and the self-test fails with a hardware error unknown gpib (-37052).  The watch also neither device VISA Interactive Control.

The ready light is lit on the GPIB-USB adapter and the 8451 flashes green as if nothing is wrong at the end.  I uninstalled all the software of NOR and reinstalled, and I run MAX as an administrator.  Is there possibly some computer settings I could neglect or need to change to open a communication?  Any other ideas on why I can't communicate with devices?

    Thank you!

  • Error of Driver GPIB-USB-HS - 10 possibly after Feb Windows Update Windows

Starting from 17/02/2016, GPIB-USB-HS material (2) is no longer connecting on 10 of Windows using NI488.2 Rev 15 15/8 with the 15.0.1 patch.

Using VMWare player 7.1.3, the VM sees the material, connects, turn lights and then turn off. The virtual machine shows "Driver error" unable to connect to the USB device. This has been tested with two USB devices that have worked with the same setup for a few years now on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 using VMate 7.x and 12. xs

Possibly this is related to the last update of Windows,

Repair, or a full installation of rev 15 NI488.2 solves this problem.

    VISA still works via TCP/IP.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Update: the pilot is still alive.

The latest version of Windows, which has been applied to the host system 05/03/2016, restores the driver under the guest virtual machine feature. Revisions to operating system host and client are now at 10586.122.

  • Windows 7 automatic duplex C7280 copy with drivers only Possible? How?

Photosmart C7280 all-in-One works on a Vista 64-bit machine using drivers only - no software.  However, I was able to do automatic double-sided copies of documents, and I was satisfied.

I just upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit on the same machine with the same printer and Windows 7 drivers only looked but found nothing.  All I could do was to download the whole software driver package but have not yet installed.

Windows 7 has detected the C7280 and installed the drivers only and I am able to print the pages apparently normally, except that automatic two-sided copying does not.  Double-sided to manually works pages by the instruction manual two-sided copying.

I just talk to HP technical support (technically not a free call) long enough to know that, for automatic two-sided copy of Windows 7, I have to install the complete package.  Some drivers for Windows 7 is not good enough.

I would like confirmation of this from anyone who knows how to be sure, there is not a way to get two-sided copy of work (or not) without having to install the software's 9-yard I don't need?

    Thank you.

Go devices and printers folder, right-click on the device C7200 printer properties settings and the value of the duplex unit installed.

  • Equium L20 - USB 2.0 drivers

Right, done a fresh install of XP on my girlfriends laptop. I've got every update unique Windows available - including all service packs. I also installed every single driver and the patch on the Toshiba site. I literally ran out of drivers to install (before someone directs me to the page pilots!).

Then... uh, there seems to be no way to get USB 2.0 working for this laptop? I searched through all the docs from Toshiba & manuals on this laptop, but nowhere he'll tell me what chipset is installed (which could bring me to the USB 2 drivers), or where the USB 2.0 drivers.

    Then... Someone knows:

    the chipset of the laptop?
the manufacturer of the USB 2.0 controller?
or just a beautiful link to the download that I need?

I ran a little research through this forum and it seems that I m not the only one with this problem (all items are listed as unresolved?)

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello

Please don't be crazy about me, but you're the next who cannot understand that there is no USB 2.0 drivers and that you will not find it anywhere. If you check the document instructions facilities with a full list of things that need to be installed did you find the USB 2.0 drivers.

I don't know what problem you have, but for the installation of the OS use Windows XP Home with SP2 integrated only. After doing this install all the stuff following this order of installations. When you install the right chipset driver all USB ports should work. Any substance is available on the Toshiba download page.

  • GPIB-USB-HS will recognize any instrument in LabVIEW but somewhat done in MAX - help

    Hello

I'm having a problem getting my GPIB-USB-HS device to recognize instruments in LabVIEW.  The unit has been running year last on many instruments.  I tried the GPIB-USB-HS other materials too just to make sure it wasn't a defective unit.

NOTE: I installed the latest drivers for NI-VISA 5.1.1 and 300 of NOR-488. 2 for Windows XP

    See the images below:

It's the idsplay to the MAX:
I'm not sure why there is a yellow "!" next to GPIB0::INTFC, I think it's an indication of my question.  However, note that the instruments connected to my GPIB-USB-HS are counted in MAX.  As you'll see LabVIEW 8.5 does not recognize them.

I get this error Max warning when I try to open TOOLS > NI-VISA > VISA INTERACTIVE CONTROL:

It comes to the image of my LabVIEW 8.5 window when I try to select a VISA of an instrument (including MAX recognizes):

Any help would be much appreciated

Thank you all for your help,

Problem solved after hours of uninstallation and reinstallation of all devices/software from National Instruments.

Once all programs have been uninstalled (with a disk cleanup on my unnecessary hard-maybe records)

    LabVIEW 8.5.1 has been reinstalled

    NOR-DAQ has been reinstalled

    NI-Visa 5.1.1 has been reinstalled

    NOR-488. 2 worm 2.7.3 has been re-installed (correctly)

Now, LabVIEW recognizes all ports/devices and connects to the instruments properly once more.

My question must have been installing LabVIEW 8.5.1 after already installing LabVIEW 2009.

Somewhere during the installation of 8.5.1 - main post problem occurred.

  • NI USB - 8473 Windows can't find a driver

After I installed my software CAN 2.6.1 and connect my USB device, Windows starts the Hardware Wizard but can't find the drivers for this device.  I started with 2.4 and uninstalled and reinstalled it which didn't help, and then I upgraded to 2.6.1.  This does not help either.  My impression is that it's something to do with Windows or the computer, but I thought I would ask if anyone has seen this problem before, where it's a hardware or software problem.

    Hello

Thank you for your message.  The NI-CAN driver is an INF called nican.inf.  Instead of automatically detected the driver in the new hardware wizard found, try accessing the file nican.inf.  This file is located in the following directory: C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\NI-CAN\staging.

If this does not work, I only run the following the link Microsoft Windows Cleanup utility and remove all records of NI-CAN of your system and then reinstall the driver once more.
