GPS accuracy.

I'm trying to figure out how to get the gps in my "BOLD" to lock as precisely as possible. I noticed that google maps he regularly gets up to 3meters, and yet I rarely saw him at least 10-15 m with my code.

I use the following to initialize my location provider:

      Criteria criteria = new Criteria();
        // Allow cost.
        criteria.setCostAllowed(true);
        // get as accurate as possible (requesting 3 meters).
        criteria.setHorizontalAccuracy(3);
        criteria.setVerticalAccuracy(3);

        criteria.setPreferredPowerConsumption(Criteria.POWER_USAGE_HIGH);
        //criteria.setPreferredPowerConsumption(Criteria.NO_REQUIREMENT);
        criteria.setAltitudeRequired(false);

        try {
            provider = LocationProvider.getInstance(criteria);
        } catch (LocationException e) {
            System.out.println(e.getMessage());
            e.printStackTrace();
        }

Tips on how to change the criteria to get it to lock 3 m of precision to get closer?

See the article according to which defines the criteria for a stand-alone fixed point (GPS).

I normally set cost = false and altitude = true force helps a fixed GPS point.

    Anyone have problems with GPS location problem after update from IOS10?

    I drove Baltimore DC Regan airport, I tried with apple and Google map yesterday map, location was far from the highway, he could not determine where we are, we were on the road, but he kept us showing that we were on a local road to the highway.  Could not find 90% of time on my road.  Finally, I have to use my phone to brother with IOS9, we were fortunate that it has not updated to the most recent IOS 10.

    I wonder if anyone has the same problem after the update.

    Hello yinchiu85,

    I understand that your iPhone seems to have a hard time determining its location precisely. Fortunately, there are a number of steps you can take to help improve the accuracy of the information.

    Improve the accuracy of GPS

    GPS accuracy depends on the number of visible GPS satellites. Location of all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. To improve the accuracy of the GPS:

    • Make sure that you set the date, time and timezone correctly on the device in settings > general > Date & time. If possible, use the value automatically.
    • Keep a clear vision in several directions. Walls, vehicle roofs, buildings of great height, mountains and other obstacles can block the line of sight to GPS satellites. In this case, your device uses Wi - Fi or cellular networks to determine your position until the GPS satellites are still visible.

    If your iPhone is still unable to pinpoint your position, the next step would be to restore location Services.

    If you want to reset all settings to factory default location, go to settings > general > reset and tap reset card and privacy. When your location and privacy settings are reset, apps will be stop using your location until you grant them permission.

    My GPS service does not work after update os on IPHONE 6 64 GB. Deleted, hard reboot as well os re - load os, I did, but still unresolved question and google Mao or Apple card does not. It seems that many Iphone user have the same problem after the Os update to 9.3.2.

    My wife also have the same model and updated to Os, but its Google map works perfectly. have online search of dome on the solution, but no luck.

    How to solve this problem?

    Hello, jayantg,

    Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    I see that your GPS service stopped working after the update to iOS 9.3.2. I use location Services on my iPhone, so I know how much it is important that we get this problem is solved. I have something I want you to try.

    Enable or disable location Services

    You can enable or disable location Services in settings > privacy > location Services. You can enable location-based Services during the wizard process of installation or later through the creation of location-based Services. You can individually control applications and system services have access to the data of location Services. When location Services are disabled, the apps can't use your position in the foreground or background. You will thus limit the performance of various Apple and third-party applications.

    GPS accuracy varies according to the number of visible GPS satellites. Location of all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. Follow these tips to improve the accuracy of the GPS:

    • Make sure that you set the date, time and timezone correctly on the device in settings > general > Date & time. If possible, use the value automatically.
      Important: Incorrect settings on your computer can sync to your device. Check the date, time and time zone on a computer that syncs with your device.
    • Restart your device.
    • Make sure you have a cell phone or Wi - Fi network connection. This allows assisted GPS (A - GPS) on the device to locate the fastest visible GPS satellites, in addition to providing information about the initial location using Wi - Fi or cellular networks.
      Microcells (sometimes called Femtocells) are not supported with location Services.
    • Keep a clear view of the horizon in several directions. Please keep in mind that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains and other obstacles can block the line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use a Wi - Fi or cellular networks to determine your position until the GPS satellites are still visible.

  • GPS suddenly stopped working on iPhone 4S

    Hello

    Suddenly, the GPS on my iPhone 4 works a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was the app, but I noticed that is not work in other applications too, so I think it is necessary with the GPS on the phone itself. I did not change anything to cause the problem, it happened by itself.

    In troubleshooting, I have reset the GPS repeatedly following the instructions found on Google. I downloaded an application called State of the GPS and at first use, it showed that I had a few signals, however, it was a cloudy day, so I was not too concerned. I thought that the reset had solved the problem.

    No... so one day completely clear, I had "Bad difficulty" on GPS and GPS status while it is on the slopes of Ski or Argus application.

    I have reset the GPS again. Still no joy.

    I've updated the OS 9.2.1 reset and re-callibrated GPS doing the figure 8 sweep as suggest on Google with the airplane off the coast Mode. I still have some difficulty on the State of the GPS, no GPS on the Ski slopes and Google Maps doesn't have a clue where I am. Of course, on location services great for these applications.

    Are there other solutions?

    Thank you very much

    Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again

    1. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend or go to an Apple Store or service provider authorized Apple for help.
    2. When your device is connected, force restart it: press and hold the sleep/wake and home for at least 10 seconds, and only release when you see the Apple logo. Keep until you see the screen in recovery mode now.

    3. When you see the option restore or update, Choose update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Please wait while iTunes downloaded the software for your device.

    If the download takes more than 15 minutes the device out of recovery mode, you must repeat these steps and choose restore instead of update when you return to this step.

  • After the update or restore is complete, configure your device. If you have backed up your device with iTunes or iCloud and you need to restore your device in step 3, you may be able to restore from your backup during installation.

  • iOS 10 cards

    In the new application of maps for ios 10, is not automatically recalculate when I do what he thinks it's a bad turn. Instead, I see a button on the screen that says "Go forward to the road", but when I press it, nothing happens. No further instructions are provided.

    This was not the case in maps for ios 9.3.5. Anyone else seeing this? Is there a solution?

    Thank you!

    Hi, skociol!

    Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. After reading your post, I understand that maps does not seem to redirect if you miss a turn or down the road. I travel a lot, so I know how it is important to ensure that your cards follow no hitch on your itinerary. I'd be happy to help you!

    First of all, I would recommend to restart the iPhone, by following the instructions here: restart your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch

    I can also suggest using "Reset or disable location Services" and the sections "Improve your GPS accuracy" in the following article: on privacy and location in iOS Services 8 and later versions

    If you continue to have problems with your directions cards, try resetting the iPhone settings in settings > general > reset > reset all settings. This will not delete your personal data (photos, contacts, calendar events, reminders, etc.) but will return customizable settings (background screen and display brightness, alert sounds, the settings of Date and time, etc.) to their default values. It will also remove any saved Wi - Fi networks and passwords, as well as any settings APN or VPN used previously.

    After resetting the settings, test your cards out. If the problem persists, the next step I would say is to back up your iPhone and then restore it to the factory settings. Backup using iCloud or iTunes instructions can be found here: How to backup your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

    Information on restoring your iPhone to factory settings can be found here: using iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore the iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings

    Once the restore is complete, configure your iPhone as a new device (i.e. without your backup, at least temporarily) and test cards. If everything works as expected, you can restore your backup following instructions here: restore iPhone, iPad or iPod from a backup

  • Draw the circle on MapView

    Hi all.

    I am quite new to the development of the Cascades.

    I would like to know if it is possible to trace a circle on a plan, given a Point and a RADIUS.

    I searched a bit on the doc, but I not only found ways to draw polygons from a set of coordinates.

    IIRC the fact maps app exactly that, show GPS accuracy of the signal (IE put a circle around you on the map to show the accuracy of the coordinates).

    Thank you very much, greetings

    Thanks BBSJdev, but I need an overlay following cards (and with a dynamic dimension) and not static.

    In any case, I found a nice way to draw a circle-layer on the mapview. Here is the code:

    It is an improved version of the solution that someone else posted on this forum some time ago (which did not perfectly, as she draws an elypse and not a circle). I can't find this post now, in any case I would like to thank the user who wrote this snippet.

    Here is the code:

    void ApplicationUI::drawCircle(double lon, double lat, double radius) {    MapView *mv = root->findChild("mapView");    DataProvider *dp = mv->mapData()->defaultProvider();

        // convert radius meters to latitude width double latr = radius / 111412.84; // this is the number of meters per degree

        // with longitude it's a bit more complicated, since a degree of longitude 's length    // is not constant (unfortunately the earth is not flat)    int a = 6371000; // earth radius in meters    double rad_lat = 0.0174532925 * lat; // convert latitude from degrees to radiants    double _lr = ((M_PI / 180) * a * cosf(rad_lat)); // length of a degree of longitude in meters    double lonr = radius / _lr;    qDebug() << "lonr = " << lonr << " ; _lr = " << _lr << " ; latr = " << latr << " ; lat = " << lat;

        GeoPolygon* result = new GeoPolygon;    Polyline line;    const int numOfSeg = 36;    for ( int i = 0; i < numOfSeg; i++ ) {        double theta = 2.0f * 3.1415926f * float( i ) / float( numOfSeg );        double x = lonr * cosf( theta );        double y = latr * sinf( theta );        line.append( Coordinate( y + lat, x + lon ) );    }

        result->setOuterBoundary( line );    result->setId("id-circle");    mv->mapData()->defaultProvider()->add(result);

    }

  • No GPS solid does difficulty (Iphone 6 IOS 9.3.5)

    On my iPhone with IOS 9.3.5 6 does not have GPS. Navigation applications do not work because the GPS has an accuracy of 100 m or more. I got a new GPS antenna installed to get rid of the problem, but it doesn't seem to be the problem. So, probably, it's a software problem? The strange thing is a moment, it seems that the gps has a good fix, the other time the accuracy went (up to 1,000 m or more?). I don't understand? More people with this kind of problem?

    iPhones use "assisted GPS" for a location more precise. This means that data GPS are combined with the relay antenna, Wi - Fi and Bluetooth same known places. If these are not available, the accuracy will be lower.

    Also note that the GPS requires at least 12.5 minutes to get a location. It's time to get the signal of two satellites. Three would be much better.

  • Degree of accuracy is to find the locations of friends?  If the location of a person is updated, the situation might be wrong or delay?

    Degree of accuracy is to find the locations of friends?  If the premises of a person is updated on my phone, could be wrong or delay of an hour or two?

    It is as accurate as the location information that becomes their phone. And which can vary wildly. GPS signals are subject to an intervention by buildings, trees, weather. The phone can get information about the location of a WiFi network that is inaccurate. Find My Friends is certainly not specific enough to be invoked in situations of life and death. Nor should it be used as "evidence" that children or spouses are lying to you.

    How could a routine walk-run? Inside, Indoor walk or another run? I do this routine outdoors with Gps first so that I'm not kidding my calibration data? Help please and thank you!

    Hello

    Choose indoor walk or run Indoor (it does not matter which) to an indoor walk-run routine.

    Even if Apple Watch does not currently offer as a workout interval training, choose one of these allows the most appropriate data sources (which are the same for market and short) to use to track your training.

    If walking or running, the accelerometer is used to estimate pace and the distance (allow your arms swinging naturally) as well as the frequency heart sensor for the estimation of calories burned.

    Run or walk inside will not affect your calibration data. Calibration is based on the GPS of the iPhone data and is only held during the outdoor walking training or race outdoors when the iPhone combined is taken along.

    Yes, it seems fair to extract still images from the camera will keep the GPS coordinates. This assumes, of course, Traore, the GPS is locked on the satellite. It may take a few seconds to several minutes to reach the lock, so the first photos that you take may not be labeled. I assume that you run an interval picture-taking.

    I and others have posted here and in other forums that the GPS coordinates are not very accurate. They may, or may not, be specific to a single shot, but you can't rely on the accuracy of the coordinates. This also applies to the video shot with the AS-100v and AS - 30V. Results on the ground of myself (USA) and a user in Germany confirm that GPS coordinates are not nearly as accurate as it should.

    Here's a comparison side by side (images of Google Earth with Garmin vs AS-30V tracks), and it is an analysis using time tag data (again, Garmin vs Sony AS-30V).

  • GPS Bluetooth support

    I have a Bluetooth GPS receiver I coupled to my 7 slate with no problems.

    My Navionics marine navigation app can not find the GPS source and asks me to activate settings of-> location-> use GPS satellites, unfortunately this option does not exist.
    Note: On my other android (without internal GPS), this option exists and allows the program to use the Bluetooth.

    In addition, Google maps has this same problem - she cannot use Bluetooth GPS advertising what it also tells me to turn on the GPS satellites when I ask improve accuracy.

    Without this ability, one of the main applications for the purchase of 7 Slate has been reduced to nothing.

    Is there a solution?

    Found a solution: do a fictitious supplier. This involves the following

    (1) install the app store game Bluetooth GPS
    (2) in the Middle-> Developer options, turn on allow mock locations

    (3) pair up your bluetooth GPS receiver

    (4) start the Bluetooth GPS app and check the option enable the provider GPS scoff, and then use the Connect button to connect the Bluetooth receiver

    Start your navigation application, it should work now

  • GPS on or off and why?

    The obvious answer with a brief history of the sons of battery life is to turn it off to save power.

    What I was wondering if this function is different from that used in Google Maps?

    I ask this question, because when I use google maps or any other location based service, you will be asked if I'm going to get the location of the program.  When I used Sprint Navigation System asked me to turn on the GPS.  What is the difference?

    There are two different ways that the phone can find where you are. One is based on the triangulation of your estimated distance of cell towers, and the other is the GPS. GPS is more accurate because it was designed for this purpose. The technique of cell-tower is a bit of a hack and has technological and infrastructure restrictions detailed how it can never be. If you load google maps and GPS off, you may notice that it is sometimes as much as a mile or wider where she thinks you are.

    Since turning on GPS uses more juice, I usually keep. It decreases the accuracy of geotags your photos and do some research on google for nearby restaurants or all what a little wide, but this isn't too bad usually. When I'm really trying to figure out where the hell I am or use the sprint navigation application, I activate GPS for the duration.
