Graphics card overheating?

"Graphics Adapter overheating."

This error message appears when I play games like Gothic 3 or World of Warcraft.  I have a Radeon X 1650 and Windows Vista video card. My Tower doesn't feel hot to the touch, nor is it blowing warm air. I already cleaned the fan and dust that was stuck in there.

Well, the fan could be bad on your card, or it is not properly conducted evacuation.  Try to open the case and if possible, observing the fan on the card to see how it turns out.  Cases sometimes have a poor circulation of air, and you need to get a best case fan.  You can open the case and blowing a fan of simple house inside as well to see if that solves your problem.  If this is the case, you may have to take the card to a store where they can install a new fan for you.

    Greetings,

I bought the DV7-3065DX and discovered that there is a heat problem.

I have installed World of Warcraft plays when I don't envy sitting at the desktop computer. I started the game with pretty high settings and noticed that the pace was incredible. I was getting SPF 50 + to Dalaran, which is simply incredible for such a humble map.

After a few minutes, the game hangs on a black screen and I have to restart the laptop. I noticed there was of enormous heat out the vents and the fan was going nuts pump the heat out.

Rather than simply resume at Best Buy, I thought help out a little and found something interesting.

What follows is set to power personalized settings. I have reproduced the performance plugged in every detail.

When the laptop is off, WoW goes with parameters of medium/high 18 to 40 + fps which is what I expected from this card. The game works and is very nice with rock solid stability.

At the time where I have connect to the monte in arrow of the frame rates and after some time, the laptop blackscreens and must be restarted. I started running through the Power Options, and everything was in the battery exactly settings like trendy settings.

I've strangled the processor and has always had the same problem. So I adjusted the ATI Powerplay settings so when it's plugged, it "maximizes independence."

After doing that and plug in the power, the rate falls to 10-15 and the laptop stay cool and doesn't crash, although the framerate is now very poor.

My conclusion is that it seems to be a driver problem with the ATI Powerplay, which is the path of the card running too hard when it is plugged. I would remind you that when I 'Maximize Performance' on battery and laptop is unplugged, WoW is great.

Although my conclusion is that it is a driver problem, if anyone out there has the 3065DX and WoW runs great only plugged while would they let me know. If they do not have this problem then it would be possible, I have another problem so that an exchange of the laptop may be in order.

    Thanks for reading

    Update:

I'll be back the HP laptop. I have to say that once you get past this initial call of tortuous to HP, the speed in which the laptop is repaired and shipped back is remarkably good.

They replaced the motherboard, cooling system and reimagee the reader. I installed WoW back and tested the warm-ups.

The rate increases that plugged while (I fully mirrored the power settings for plugged/unplugged), but now the increase is much less and WoW can now finally run with the power supply connected.

    Thank you

  • Failure of the graphics card on the Satellite A100-405

    Hello

I have a Toshiba A100-405, which has a Geforce go 7600 graphics (specifications).
Yesterday, playing a game, all of a sudden the frozen screen and showed a lot of horizontal stripes.
I tried to restart the computer, but succeeded only in safe mode. The bands have not disappeared. (funny colors, such as low resolution, stripes, blocks, etc.)

Question 1: Is my assumption that the graphics card is in correct failure?

Question 2: Can this card easily replace? And if so, which would cost only? (in EUROS)

    Looking forward to your answers.

    Roel

    Hello

These funny funny colors, as low resolution, stripes, blocks are called artifacts (adverse alteration in the data, introduced by a technical and/or technological). It seems that the dysfunction of the graphics card. To be sure, connect the external monitor to check. Talk about the replacement, if it is integrated in the motherboard, the entire motherboard must be replaced. It costs about 35% of the total price computer laptop, as you can see that it is quite expensive.

Also, from my own experience I know, sometimes these artifacts occur because of the graphics card overheating due to dust. Do not be lazy to clean the laptop with the jet of compressed air. Otherwise, contact the ASP (SAV) and prepare the money.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - CPU overheating graphics card?

16 days ago my tosh Satellite Pro 4600 has lost the ability to maintain 25 fps in a game online - IE. Diablo 2.
He now plays to an average of 4 frames per second and ping gets up to more than 4,000... Needless to say that now, unplayable...

I reinstalled the game... installed new XP and game on the D drive...
Same thing... a program called SpeedswitchXP shows CPU use fluctuating 54 to 420, because the clocked processor slot general tab of my computer displays 422 now, not the 847 mhz it used to.

Still, he surfed on the net and plays yahoo games of cards for example. at lightning speed, but not a rpg online... there work perfectly at 25 fps on average for 3 years... Irretrievably overheating / damaged CPU, graphics card?
Anyone know? Another temp. program shown running at 64 c is worth a new motherboard?

I can get one? Any ideas?

    Hello

First of all, he should know that the processor and GPU performance are dynamically.
This means that the speed and the performance changes if the temperature reaches a critical threshold.
This could lead to performance degradation.

In your case, the laptop is about 3 years old and I think that it s time to clean the fans to prevent the notebook from overheating.

You can try to use the jet of professional compressed air to get rid of dust and debris.

I tried to increase the fan speed you programs 'ATI Tray Tools', has not helped.

Please help me with my problem. Sorry for my English

    Hello

The drivers of Toshiba laptops are a bit different and not the same thing as the drivers from the manufacturer of the graphics card.
The original ATI drivers are made for office use and not for mobile use. Drivers Toshiba takes supported thermal protection that allows to control the performance of gpu and the dissipation of the heat.
If you want to use a page ATI driver then your GPU could create more heat as usual which leads to the unexpected shutdown.

I installed Win 7 on my A210. I didn't install the driver of ATI graphics card because the Win 7 automatically recognizes the graphics chip.
After installation, I went to the Device Manager. Then, I chose the graphics chip and looked for the driver automatically. Windows has found the right driver and installed this
Since the unit works perfectly with Win 7

  • Satellite A300 - overheating graphics card

    Hello.

My Satellite A300 got recently repaired from the Toshiba official represent in my hometown of Portugal. The problem was overheating, as usual. They understood the problem, it was dust and the radiator was malfuncion. They have changed the radiator and I paid 184,5 as a repair bill. When I got home, the problem still remained, and it seems worse.

When I start a game, like world of warcraft, for example, the graphics card will of constant 50 degrees to 100 to like 10 seconds, and then the laptop stops.
Someone could point me in the right direction and could they be scamming?

I mean, I paid to solve the overheating problem, but they have not solved. Next Monday, I'll see what they had to say. Should I pay for another repair (repair minimum is 80, even if anything needs to be repaired).

PS: Just in case where, is my graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650.

PS2: Sorry for the bad English, I'm Portuguese :)
    Thanks for reading this.

    Hello

Theoretically it could also be a software problem if the laptop is overheating. I had the same problem because I installed display drivers not Toshiba and they had different thermal management so the laptop was overheating. I removed this display driver and installed the new Toshiba display driver and the problem was gone, because these drivers are designed and pre-tested by Toshiba.

Otherwise I would also contact the ASP and check what they say. ;)

I have a Satellite P750. I have a few games that I love to play, but I am unable to because that laptop overheating during the execution of these games.

The specifications of the P750 with GeFORCE 540 m graphics card and 8 GB of ram easily meet the requirements of the games (Counter strike source, cod mw3).

While playing the games for about 10 minutes, all right.
After this step, things start to warm up, and small defects appear on the screen.

Small rectangles of messed up graphics.
If I don't leave the game immediately, I get a BSOD with errors such as "IRQL _less_than_or_Equal.

The vent on the left side of the laptop runs very hot when this happens.
I cleaned dust vacuum on and uses a fan/cooling pad to try to cool it.
    Makes no difference.

I updated to BIOS and graphics card drivers

WHAT CAN I DO TO PREVENT OVERHEATING WHEN YOU USE THE GFX CARD

Hmm using the page of the Toshiba driver graphics driver?
Such driver is a bit different from the other nVidia drivers because it s modified for mobile use. It contains some kind of overheating protection.
In case of higher temperatures of GPU, such driver would clock down GPU performance in order to increase the temperature of the GPU.

  • iMac 27 2010 graphics card / ram problem

Hello - read through the form and try to isolate the problem.  A week ago my end 2010 iMac 27 I7, 12 GB of Crucial Ram, OSX Yosemite went screwy - icons went fuzzy, and the system has just stopped responding. I tried not just pull the plug, but the computer was out of order, so I had to pull the plug. Please keep in mind it was a day hot here in New York and I've come for a quick moment to remove some files and did not close the windows a turn on the AC, so they probably overheated system or so I guess

Anyway, after a few hours and I came back home and turned back on the iMac. Immediately, I noticed some pale red bans on the screen. The system has been restarted slowly and then it stop at halfway however and just go to the gray screen. I did a reboot, re-installed the operating system made the system check, but the failure of operating system to kick when I do a normal restart, and I am only able to operate the computer in Mode safe.

Is there a way I can understand if the RAM is the question, the graphics card, or if it's the OS? A faulty graphics card will prevent the system from starting normally? I have the same question when I open it on safe mode?

I'm trying to see if there is a way to save the iMac and get more use out of it, but at the same time a few years if it's gong to fix an expensive that I can't do on my own, so maybe its not worth what's now 5-6yrld of fixing iMac little matter how the computer cost me back in 2010.

Thanks for your help and sorry if this question has been answered countless times before.

    Most likely graphics card problem...

    Note:

One way to test is to boot from the HD, (now shift key at startup), run utility disk in Applications > utilities, then highlight your reader, click on repair permissions, test for problem in Mode safe...

PS. secure boot can remain on the gray radian for a long time, let go, he's trying to repair the hard drive & trash/rebuild the cache files

    Reboot, try again.

If it does so only in ordinary chest, there could be a problem material such as Video card, (the Quartz is disabled in Safe Mode), or airport, some USB or Firewire devices, or the module in part 3, Check System Preferences > accounts (users and groups in later versions of OS x) > login items window to see if she or something relevant is listed. Or a stray process eating RAM.

  • MacBook Pro 2014 - failure of the graphics card for the 2nd time in 2 years - no guarantee

    Hi all

end of 2014, I bought a new 13 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro mid 2014 model (A1502, EMC2875). A few months later, the graphics card has failed - no obvious reason. Apple replaced. Now, the graphics card has not yet. Still, the mac worked perfectly well (no overheating of the noise, nothing) and all of a sudden - no understandable reason or external actions, the graphics card has failed. Unfortunately, I do not have a guarantee of more. At least, I can access my documents by connecting two Macs, so I hope that the material is not affected.

My model (1502) apparently only has a single integrated graphics processor.

    My questions:

    • After some research, I discovered that Apple used to have these problems with the 2011 edition. They have implemented a replacement program. Does anyone know sth on this subject?
    • What graphics card would you recommend? How much such a graphics card? Where could I buy a cheap?

Of course, I don't want to reuse the same type - guess I don't have to explain how @* #&! I'm after two times the same problem within two years after the purchase of a brand new MacBook Pro...

I would appreciate any recommendations and links!

    Best regards

    Rahel

-As you say, your Mac model uses the graphics processor integrated in the CPU chip. So, there are ios no replacement possible. The CPU is soldered to the logic board

-The problem with the 2011 MacBook Pro was with the discreet Nvidia, not the graphics unit integrated in the CPU graphics unit.

-When you went to an Apple store just says the genius of APple?

This is the Office Mac Pro forum. I asked that your post be moved to the MacBook Pro laptop.

  • Satellite M60: cannot install the latest driver for my graphics card

Can not install the latest driver for my graphics card
    Satellite M60
GRAPHICS ATI MOBILITY RADEON X 700

    Hello

First of all I'm really putting t understand why you start two topics with the same theme. It is often better to have a subject with good content and interesting comments. Am I wrong? ;)

Anyway, in your case, it is interesting that Toshiba use adapted drivers because of the material. This means that this graphics card is not required to run at the maximum level. Material cooling in laptops is very problematic and high temperature can cause overheating or a material damage. All hardware components are placed on a small square. Graphics card produces a lot of heat and it is not so good for other material.

When you use graphic driver non-Toshiba card is forced to run faster. That's any use of support laptop manufacturers don t of third party drivers. The fact is that physical protection is a priority.

I didn t do all the experiments, but according to some reports on this forum, there is how to install the driver of non-Toshiba graphics card.

Please check this forum and you can find a lot of comments about this. An interesting topic is http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=18063&messageID=66186

  • Satellite P200 accidents + message: graphic card driver does not work properly

    Hello

hope that this issue has not been covered before, but I've owned a Satellite P200 for 3 years now, and this week, it crashes all the time.

When it started going down he gave me a few messages in the sense of "your graphics card/driver does not work properly and windows will be arrested to avoid damage.

It has progressed to the point where now when I turn it on, I have vertical lines running down the screen and the screen flashes on and outside. Within 20 seconds, it restores the BSOD - 'there was a problem and windows will be arrested. Error Page_Fault_In_Non_Paged_Area"then stops.

I ran a system restore but the problem remains.

I have a feeling that my graphics card is toast. Is this good? Are there any other options to try? Thanks in advance for any answers.

    Matt

    Hello

    Sounds like the GPU problem.
But try the graphics card driver update.
Use the most recent driver for your graphics card.

In addition, clean the fans of portable computers.
Dust and debris could prevent the cooling fans to turn with the best speed and this could lead to a higher temperature which would lead to overheating.
Use a jet of compressed air. I also use it and it helps to get rid of dust and debris.

If this is not enough, then a problem of graphics chip would be possible.

  • Tecra M2: Can play a game of the graphics card?

It seems that play Flight Simulator could destroy the graphics card on the laptop! I never thought this would be possible. I gave a friend my old Tecra M2 (as a wedding gift) which he also uses to play FS9. A few years ago, he had to have the motherboard replaced (Fortunately it's still under warranty then) because it has become defective. This has happened while he was playing FS9. I never thought that at that time.

It seems like the same problem comes up again, but this time the laptop isn't under warranty anymore. Nothing has been changed on the video card to "accelerate" or "chip" or another - it is standard at the factory. The latest drivers are installed for the Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 32 M / 64 M and the portable computer has 1 GB of RAM (and a lot of space on the HARD disk).

At startup, the Toshiba logo has green vertical lines. The Windows logo also has the same symptoms, the vertical lines. I was able to boot in safe mode, a few times, then it started normally (I was onto a winner of thought), but now it seems just blue screen and reboot after Windows Logo (even if I didn't no reset in case of failure). After the reboot, I got a blue screen (BSOD not usual) with the next STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0 x 01010101, 0xF7911378, 0xF7911074).

Any ideas? I'd be really upset if I found out that a game could physically cause a motherboard to replace on a laptop! If this is true, can someone tell me how to prevent it in the future? I have a Tecra M3 and I don't want to happen to me either!

    Thank you!

    -Emm.

    Hi mate,

the fact is that I would NEVER play FS9 even on my machine which is a Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz with 1 GB of RAM and a geforce 7800GS.
Flight Simulator 9 needs AS many system resources and in your case it s like you take 500 tons of steel and throw on a single donkey.

The M2 is a pure business machine and not scheduled to play these games like FS9 needing beasts of machines to run * correctly *. Maybe the older games are playable, but I think that it s right that FS9 could probably damaged your graphics unit (overheating).
You won´t move swap the motherboard and let your FS9 fingers when you hold an M2 or M3 or a set of non-game in your hands.

The man, who is ill, the poor M2 then FS9... :D

Clear from the statement to me: Yes, a game CAN probably damage a portable system, but not for sure! And an M2/M3 is not to play these games. Rather spent the money for a system with a Geforce 8600 Core2Dou or something similar.

    Welcome them

  • Qosmio G40-10 s: graphics card problem

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G40 laptop 10s with a Nvidea 8600 M GT grafixs card. I was playing a game when it locked up and pasted what I would describe as flashing red/green 'Matrixy' search screen.

He tries to start windows, but once again the top matrix. If it loads to the top, it is in 16 bit color with red dots all over the screen.

I am sure that the GPU is fried... and I was wondering what I can do? It's been 5 months out of warranty now.

I read on some forums that there have been a lot of problems with this Nvidea card... Is there anything I can do outside my warranty period with what there is a possibly faulty card in it from the beginning.

It will cost a lot of money to get it repaired, but its too good a laptop to let go to waste.

    Any help is very appreciated.

    Hello

You also have these lines on an external monitor?
If so, there seems to be a graphics card problem and it must be replaced.

These overheating problems also occur if you use the nVidia display drivers directly. Toshiba drivers are pre-tested and don't overheat your system.

But I think you need professional help. You should contact an authorized service provider and talk to the technicians. They will help you! :)
