Oracle 12 c Grid Infrastructure OCR VOTE the disk size

I'm installing network infrastructure Oracle 12 c 12.1.0.2 and notice the possibility of installing grid infrastructure repository disappeared, which means he needs space in the disc ocr/vote.

I have two node RAC on linux 6.5. What is the best practice on decinding the size of this drive oct/vote?

Thank you

This blog entry, it explains a little bit:

https://blogs.Oracle.com/upgrade/entry/grid_infrastructure_management_repository_gimr

Notice that the ball 'average growth size' will give you how to calculate db IWM needs. As a general rule, unless you have a large number of nodes in the cluster, 10 GB should be enough.

  • Where should you install Oracle database and grid Infrastructure in order to comply with OFA?

I downloaded two files compressed to the Oracle database installation, and both zipped install files for the grid Infrastructure.  The book I'm following for installation is said to use a directory of the database and a directory for the grid Infrastructure, but it does not explain where they should be located in OFA.  Probably they should both close up somewhere in the same Base of Oracle (since all Oracle related on a single file system should go in the same basis, according to my understanding), but it is not clear where they need to be installed over the other.  For example, the grid Infrastructure is a separate product that gets its own Oracle Home?  Anyone can shed some light on this process?

Also, does it matter where the zipped files are uncompressed?  For example, use one of these files after the installation process, or OFA only cares location after installation?

Yes, they go in separate oracle_home.  This should be explained in the respective Setup Guide.  This will be a CAR or a standalone ASM?  I have

  • Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a stand-alone server - licensing

Is a separate license required for the Oracle Network Infrastructure when you use Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a stand-alone Servicer?  I compare it to non-GI installation where the database using cooked file systems for storage, and so only the database is allowed.

    Env:

    • Oracle 11 g grid infrastructure
    • Standalone database: Oracle 11.2.0.4 64-bit Enterprise Edition
    • Windows Server 2008 Standard

Thanks for the advice / references.

As other posters have suggested, better check with Oracle.

There is a good reference here in the docs of Oracle Online license, https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18248_01/doc/license.112/e10594.pdf

in respect of infrastructure of grid / search "components of Oracle Grid Infrastructure.

It would be useful to check around popularity of ASM / GI on windows. I worked between some flavors of * nix & Windows, ASM is great, but not a huge number of Windows installs that I have come across seem to use it. I'd certainly * nix however if (even if not!) considering the DSO. Sit together much cleaner

  • Question about uninstalling Oracle Grid Infrastructure software

Hello! I create a new cluster of CARS on IBM Power 7 server running AIX 6.1. I installed grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.3 as a 'practice' race, but I would like to make a few changes. I remember reading about a year on the Oracle uninstall utility 11g. Although it is installed as part of the software, it was recommended at that time to download the OTN deinstall utility.

That it is always recommended, or can I just run the deinstall utility in my house grid Infrastructure?

  • Must I also patch grid infrastructure home with power supply?

    Hello

I am building a new server to replace an old one with the following configuration:

OLD Config: Oracle 11 g 2 EE (11.2.0.3) with POWER 16056266 block, on OEL 6.2 64-bit (file system)

If I understand correctly, grid Infra Software version cannot be less than that of RDBMS software. Because the RDBMS software must be patched with 16056266 power supply to match the existing server, I have a few questions:

    1. Should I ask a PSU 16056266 grid infrastructure home (I'm sure the answer is 'yes', but I want to ensure that)
    2. Is the same power supply for the RDBMS and grid infrastructure OR there is a download separate patch for grid below?

  • How to make a user to increase the default size of the disc during the action plan?

I have the problem with the field of "Ability" to the default volume, which is gray, so users cannot change its value in the request. It is plan basis of creation of VM with only one disk configured (I don't need at all, but it took to fill to record the action plan) and 'Allow the user to view and change storage reservation strategies' is checked. Users can add new volumes, but they cannot change the size of it with ID = 0. There are screenshots of request and action plan in the attachment. vRA 7.0.

    Hello

Its a bug that will be fixed in 7.1.

If you are a user of the API, you can override the disk size by adding the custom property VirtualMachine.Disk0.size at the time of the request.

Unfortunately through the user interface, currently there is no way to change the size of the disks added during the creation period.

How to decrease the maximum size of 150 GB to 75GB?

You have more then a few options and to name a few...

Make an Image, like a ghost Image and drive him back a smaller.

Add a smaller disk to the virtual machine and the Image directly from one to the other, and then exchange the smallest to the largest.  Ghost and that too.

Use any other third-party utility to perform the foregoing.

Zero free space on the existing drive and then reduce it (if VMware Tools are installed automatically retractable function zeros space free first) then resize the virtual partition to a smaller size, leaving half of it unpartitioned.  This prevents the drive to grow larger then the size of the new virtual partition size.  The dynamic (non-destructive) resizing can be done with a software like GParted Live.

VMware vCenter Converter to create a new virtual machine when resizing of the hard drive.

Using RAW could be the problem. I'm not sure someone who has used Virtual Box with raw disks for their RAC testbed. Most people use ASM. I've seen a few people use NFS as well. You'll also want to stay away raw because that which is frowned upon in 11.2. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e41962/whatsnew.htm#RILIN931

    Hello

A CCR node does not mean that you install the grid infrastructure in a single node and install a base of a RAC data on this node.

Basically, a concept CAR is similar to active passive clustering to provide high availability. To have a node database RAC upward and launched, you will have to install clusterware on at least two server by selecting the option during the installation of the IM.

Pls follow the below post for detailed answer

INS-35354: validates the system on which you are trying to install Oracle RAC not part of a group when installing a 12 c RAC node database
