Guest computer create a lot of files similar to "vmware-converter-# .dmp".

I invited WinXP SP3 running on the ESXi 4.1 server, which creates a lot of similar files to "vmware-converter-# .dmp" (where # is a number) in:

C:\Documents and Settings Application Data VMware LocalService

And it is in the drive because it is a creation every 5 minutes and each is about 3 MB.

Anyone know why these files are created?

It looks like converter server crashing on start, then get automatically restarted by SCM.

If you don't need a converter on this computer, set the service not not to start automatically (search for "VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Server" in the services management console)

If you need it, another invsestigation is necessary; the server logs should be in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Server\logs"

We want to migrate a physical file of MS Windows Server VMWare (ESX 3.5). The physical server has a C: drive of 40 GB and a 300 GB D: drive

We would like to use VMWare converter, to migrate the server and to develop the drive C: for the virtual server is 80 GB, however we are concerned the 300 GB d: partition since it will take some time, and while the P2V, we might have some users access to stocks (on server co-location) and modifiyng files during migration.  So, if this caught there is a potential risk of losing business data.

I learned that the VMWare Converter 4 can do a live migration and once completed the P2V it can track changes and then synchronizes them when you turn off the physical system.

You can resize the disks so that the migration using VMWare converter. It is not only to take care on the disk, it is resized the partition, also.

Original title; These files are needed?

I hundredes swith of file names such as $NtUninstallKB83522WXP$ and lots of files with names like KB2566454.log. Can they be deleted?

My system became very slow lately and it's the first timeI saw these files.

The files have dates between 2005 and 2012. My computer took more time to start and is much slower in response to requests.

Because thses files take up so much space I would like if possible remove them.  I'm under Windopws XP SP3.

If your PC behaves properly, you can remove the hotfix Windows backup hidden files that start with $NTUninstallKB to the WINDOWS folder. Be aware that once they are removed you will not be able to uninstall the updates they represent.

There are two ways to do:

    1. manually, but copy the files on a CD/DVD first to enable their restoration has a fix must be removed at a later date. Now delete the folder \WINDOWS, but leaves the orphan entries to add / remove programs intact. Remove only the $NTUninstallKB files that relate to corrections, not those for applications such as Word, WMP, etc.. In addition, DO NOT DELETE THE folder$ $hf_mig.

    2. my preference is to run a script that also removes the corresponding entries in Add / Remove programs. Once they are deleted by the script, they cannot be restored. Download, extract and run this little script http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_hotfix_backup.htm creating a system restore point first just in case something goes wrong when the update of the register.

When you unpack the project, the default is to create a new folder and put it all together because it is unlikely that the new computer will have the same file structure as the computer on which this project of.  If you want Multisim to create the same structure as the original file, you can click in the cell under "excerpt from path" and select the old path, if the folder does not exist, Multisim will create a.  Unfortunately, you will need to do this for each item on the table.

KB2628259 doesn't install, cannot create the directory or file. Anyone know of a solution?

    Hi dakota25,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You are able to install other updates successfully?

    ·         You get the error message?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot state to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Method 3: You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

  • Cannot create because of hidden file hiberfil.sys.

I can't activate hibernate on my Windows XP Home Edition because it is actually impossible to create the hiberfil.sys file. Any attempt to create the file cause error 'access denied '. Sort the list of files in the root directory, I think do not show the file. Any attempt to open the result file in 'access denied '.
Cacls hiberfil.sys prints "the system cannot find the file specified."
However, there are few programs that can see the file. For example, MyDefrag can show map disk file and the E:\hiberfil.sys file is considered to be a file system.
What would you recommend to remove this invisible file?

OK, I managed to solve the problem.
Using disk hex editor I changed the name of hiberfil.sys to hiberfil.syt in $MFT, then chkdsk some kind restored the file and changed Hibernate service its size in current memory of the PC. The file is now visible.
I'll check if hibernation is actually at work.

I checked the security permissions in the file and made sure that no programs are 'read only', but it won't always go beyond this point!

    Hello

What is the edition of Windows Vista installed on the computer?
Make sure that you upgrade to the correct version, some versions of Windows cannot be upgraded with the installation disc you are trying to use. For example, you cannot upgrade a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version, or upgrade a higher edition of Windows like Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, to a lower edition, such as Windows 7 Edition Home Premium. If this is the case, you will need to use the custom during installation option.
Before you attempt to upgrade, please run the Windows 7 upgrade Advisor:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Upgrade-Advisor
Also, check if your computer is compatible for Windows 7, using the Compatibility Center:
