Guest to WLAN access.

I have 8 Cisco 1230AP providing access to my local network for users of portable computers. Encryption is WPA. I now need to configure not encrypted Internet for customers/visitors - keep away from my local network and internal network. How can I do this? Thanks for your help...

the only thing you can really do if your access point is independent is to create a different ssid and puts on a vlan different. Then, you can use ACLs to prevent the subnet of comments to access the internal network. Or you can place the guest user on this vlan different and then have a dsl connected to that subnet for users invited to use. This vlan will not have a layer 3 interface, so it will be isolated from the rest of your network.

  • Tecra 9100 - unable to connect to the WLan access point

    Hello

I have a Tecra T9100 with miniPCI WLan. I reinstalled XP Pro and all the drivers (downloaded from the Toshiba site) and I've always had a problem with Wifi:

I can see all access point (in the windows control panel), but when I click on connect, I received a message that the access point is no more...
He didn't ask me for the security settings?

    does anyone have an idea?

    Much thanks

    Leclere

    Hello

To my knowledge the Tecra 9100 was equipped with the wireless LAN standard: 802. 11B mini card PCI ORiNOCO.

You need to check if the WiFi signal is strong enough for a transmission correctly
I think that the signal of WLan access points is not strong enough because of the distance.

  • WLAN Access Denied for active MAC address in the ACL

I have a pretty great list ACL (Access Control) and I've never had a problem with it in the past, but I just got a new laptop and same computer when I save the MAC address and reboot the router I always get the "WLAN Access Denied" error for access from your laptop.

I did all the "sanity checks" to ensure that the password is correct and that other devices still work.

I had the MAC address of the laptop the same way, I always have, I see the MAC address in the Logs in the access denied message and copy it from there, in the access list. I did it with more than 20 other devices successfully, I'm not sure what is different about this one MAC address... I confirm through ipconfig on the laptop that the MAC address I use is correct.

When I turn off ACL, I can connect without any problem of the laptop.

Any thoughts? I am very familiar with computers and you can do an advanced troubleshooting, I do not know infrastructure and networks of the stuff so I don't know where to start here.

Any ideas on how I can fix this would be appreciated!

You may have hit a limit of the ACL. A test, remove a device from your list and see if your laptop will connect. This would confirm if you have contributed the most to list ACL on the router...

  • Satellite M70: I can't connect to the WLan access point

I have several wireless laptops, all work fine - except my M70.
I use Intel Proset, and he sees the access point, but says "unable to connect" when I try.
The signal is high (2 meters distance).

I tried with WEP, WPA and without security. I am absolutely convinced that I entered the right keys.
The access point is a Belkin Pre - N-, but I tried with a point of access 3Com, with the same problem - my Ipaq, my other PC, and all guests can connect,- but not my Toshiba!
The wireless card is the standard Intel, with the latest driver from October 2006 intalled.

    Getting desperate...

    Hello

If you get a signal strong, so I guess that the laptop is already connected to the access point. Or am I wrong?
On my laptop, the computer WLan small icon appears only if I connected to the Wlan and then I can see the State of the signal.

However, you suggested to use the Intel Proset utility to configure the WiFi network but on the clean Windows configuration. Have you tested it?

This question seems very strange to me.
Sometimes it of not possible to connect the WiFi network because of poor compatibility between the router and wireless network card.
My router supports Wlan AB mode and my second card for computer laptop support BG.
That's why I m not able to connect to the Wlan. Maybe it s also your case.

On my router, I can also put the MAC address filtering. You should check this option on your router.
But generally it is not easy to say why it happens. You know you should check every single option and if it s not possible so I guess that it s a compatibility issue.

  • the guest account can access encrypted USB flash drive?

    So here's the scenario

I encrypted an external usb flash drive.  If I have access to this USB key, enter my password, decrypt the USB key. then close the session,

and go to access as a guest (ALWAYS logged IN MY ACCOUNT) so that the family can use my computer,

What happens to someone else, they can access the flash drive which has been deciphered from my account?

should not the external drive is accessible to the account, that it has been deciphered?

Once the drive is mounted (enabling access through decryption as well) is accessible to all users.

    Hello world

I have a L20-101. It worked well until we change our AP with 802n Apple AP again. I can see any other network, but I can't see mine.
    Any idea?

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes, I have an idea ;) How about you change the WLan card?
Seems that the new access point is not compatible with the wireless network for laptop card.
Maybe the minPCI wireless network card does not support the standard wireless access point.

    Hi Jim,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

The guest account providing minimum privileges to perform tasks not requiring administrative privileges.  People using the guest account cannot install software or hardware, change settings, or create a password. Because the guest account allows a user to log on to a network, browse the Internet, and shut down the computer, you must disable the guest account when not in use.

You can open the command prompt in elevated mode (with administrative privileges), which is actually necessary to run multiple commands that can affect your system. If you use Windows 7 Professional or higher edition, group policy can be edited privileges for the guest account. • Stor.E Canvio 2 TB HDD laptop - WLan access using Xbox

I am looking to buy one of these numbers to play the digital media, currently stored on my laptop on my Xbox one.
According to the writing on the Web site, the files are accessible wirelessly on the network.

Can I save data to him on the network too?

For an optimal user experience I would connect my laptop hard drive and access the multimedia files with the xbox one or the hard drive connected to the xbox one wireless and save wireless on it from my laptop.

Or the other of these two together would be ups work?

It is a common external USB 2.5 HDD.
This means that you can use as a common HARD disk.

I put t know how your setting up your home wireless network, but generally you can use this disc external HARD as NAS (storage attached to the network).

You can also configure and add files and directories by using the Windows Media center. This will allow you to access the files on DLNA
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/add-media-files-to-Windows-Media-Center

But in general your question should not be tied to this HARD drive but it s is the home network configuration.

  • WLAN access point network is gone!

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite M30, and a few days from one day to the other, the wireless network 'Homezone' I installed it has disappeared and I am unable to "Reinstall". I think actually a failure hardware, such that it worked perfectly the day before and know that it recognizes even the network while all the other computers on my network domestic still see and connect. Any advise what should I do now? Already, I've deleted all network devices and reinstalled them, but no difference. With the "available networks" box remains empty.

Thanks a lot for your help or suggestions.

  • Poor access WLAN

Can I have a real problem with my WIFI adpter or is this normal?

I use my EDGE 13 for 3 months now. As soon as I have the view contact to my router to get the usable connection (maximum 6 meters). It's even more frustrating because we use a 11 EDGE for a few days now! With WLAN connection brilliant throughout our apartment (with connectivity to the neighbourhood access points).

The material in both systems, I think are the same (Intel)?

I have to live with this limitation or shell I have send my 13 EDGE at the service of LENOVO?

Becuse of toal, ignoring my question in this forum, I went to the thipnkpad first service partner, I had found on the LENOVO Web site: Sieslack Datentechnik in Hamburg, Germany!

Lucky me! Excellent service! Excellent customer relations (emails of what needs to be done and when my EDGE is ready!)

Assembly LENOVO 'forgot' to connect the antenna to the WLAN module! I now have a WLAN access! No charge for the service.

No thanks to this forum due to ignorance!
No thanks to LENOVO because of this lack of build quality!

  • E3200 guest access and phones

    Hi all

Hoping someone here can help me with this problem.

I have access as guest enabled on my router (firmware v1.0.4). E3200  Computers / laptops can connect, enter the password and use it very well.

When I try to get a smartphone connect (tried 2 iPhones, 3 Windows phones and 2 different Android phones), they are able to connect to the network, but even after the opening, a browser, will never get to the "hotel" Cisco, landing page, allowing them to enter the guest access password and connect to.  By checking the connection on the phone settings, I see that they have acquired an IP address from 192.x.x.x correctly

Specifically, I bought this router so that I would not give my WPA key when people came and wanted to use their phones on my network.

Has anyone successfully got it works?

    Thanks in advance...

Ok...  After a lot of messing around and reset the default settings, I finally got to work and can repro the problem at will.

If the you are in a two router setup and the E3200 isn't the main router (i.e. in bridge mode), guest access will not work for smartphones.  Once I swapped the roles of my two routers (i.e. made the main router E3200), guests for Smartphone access works as expected.

Don't know if a moderator / owner of the firmware feature reads the forums, but if you do, I consider this a bug.

The problem is also me an old firmware

    Thank you all

    Greetings, holger_reinhardt,

I looked around the forums with a similar problem and can offer a few suggestions based on their success:

    (1) you can try to remove the option of WPA2 under Virtual Access Points (I see that it is enabled on your config, so it's an avenue turns off).

I found the post on the forum here at the end of the response string.

You can use this as a reference to find the parameters of VAP.

    (2) Eric Moyers (emoyers) (because some people find it successful) in this post on the forum of: "Disable Hello, rate fixed multicast at 54 Mbps, clear logs and turn off Green mode and bandwidth use ethernet.

As a reference, you can disable Hello here, set the multicast rate here in step 10 and 11, off the Green ethernet mode here.

    (3) a little related post, but another path of success could be to turn on without tag vlan to activate under your VLAN and iPV4 address section and leave 1 id VLAN by default without tag Vlan ID. You can find a reference on how to do here.

I hope some of these suggestions can help solve your problems.

  • DRS/HA when the guests have access to the different storage

    Hello

I wonder what will happen in a scenario where all guests are in a group, but not all guests have access to the same storage (see attachment).

Is smart enough to only migrate (or start) DRS/HA a virtual machine for guests who have access to the storage, it is located on?

I understand this is probably not a supported configuration, but this is a temporary measure

    Thanks for any help.

In a HA/DRS configuration, it is recommended to have shared storage. But even if you have no shared storage, you can always enable HA/DRS, but your virtual machines will not be protected HA.

Yes, the DRS is smart enough to move only those virtual machines that are located on a shared storage, in case of lack of resources. HA, too, smart enough to restart these virtual machines, on the other hosts that are on shared failure of host storage only.
