H8-1234 10 GB of memory - 4 GB physical reserved?

Brand new H8-1234 came with 10 GB installed. Windows 7 64-bit.

However, only 5.9 is usable.

Resource monitor shows MS 4138MB is material reserved.

This machine came with a discrete video card.

Can someone explain why 4 GB is not available?

Thank you, Rick

Hello

Did you to additions of material your PC?  Please, details on the hardware configuration of your PC. The mailing list should have this information.

The amount of memory equipment reserve existed before the changes have been made to your PC?

I very little memory assigned to the reserve of material on my 64 bit Windows 7 system.  If your PC is under warranty, then you can contact HP technical support.   Is the PC a PC refurbished?

Start in safe mode and check your results.  You can use the Windows-> resource monitor task manager, then check the amount of available memory. Watch to see how much memory is allocated to the day before. Memory is a data cache and code that is not actively used, but is available if needed. Alternatively, you can check the amount of memory assigned to the reserve of equipment then in safe mode.

I have a 64 bit of Windows 7 with 12 GB installed system and 5.5 GB is used for standby after start upward.  See the image below.

Other things to check:

Open the RUN and enter the following command: MSCONFIG

Then click on start-> Advanced Options-> maximum memory box should be disabled with the number to be processors uncontrolled box.

RAMmaptoolshould provide you with detailed allocation of memory for your PC.   Check out thisposton how to use and interpret the results.

Another thing to check by ensuring that the bars of memory DIMMS are installed in the correct locations. Review this thread and suggestions.

  • How to create a second memory on a physical RAID?

    Hello

I have a server ML570.  The server has 2 scsi cards.  I installed ESX35 VI in the first card (RAID 0).  On the second card, I configured RAID 5 on it and I have 1.6 TB of space.  I wanted to create/2 place for VM on RAID 5, is - it possible?  I created the first 10000 GB storage and there is no way I can create a second warehouse.  When I tried the wizard to create the second storage she did not see the 600 GB left.  I can add the 600 GB as a measure for the storage of first, but this isn't what I wanted.

On a test server (DL380), I created the first store I was able to create the second storage when the console that I created the second vmfs partition with fdisk and then the wizard could see the second partition to create a second storage.  Why can't do this on the ML570?

    Kind regards

We need to create 2 'virtual disks' storage side.

If you take a single disc and you divide it into two partitions, then you will see GUI than the first.

To with VMFS format the second partition, you have to work from the command line, with fdisk (to create the partition) and vmkfstools to make the VMFS data store.

  • How to adjust physical memory in Satellite M70-337?

    I'm buying a memory upgrade for my Satellite M70 - 337.

However, I'm not sure how to adapt really.

    Hello

First before you install or remove a module, turn off the computer with the closure of the option in windows. The laptop should t be in standby or hibernation, because you will lose data.
Some modules of memory can be physically installed but are not entirely compatible with the laptop. In this case the machine will issue a warning as 3 short beeps.

    Here's a short instruction end how the modules;
-Turn the laptop (don t forget to unplug all cables) and remove the battery.
-Remove the two screws holding the plug cover memory modules
-Slide your fingernail or a thin object under the lid and remove it
-Mount the fittings of modules in connectors from computer to a 45 degree angle, and press the modules taken care to ensure a good contact.
-Push the module down so it lies flat. Locks on each side will be lick into place to fix the modules.

But note; to do this, carefully and don't use any force!

    Good bye

  • Total physical memory and the total virtual memory

    Hello

When I checked the repressive information of my laptop computer on which Windows XP SP3 installed, I discovered that RAM is of approximately:

    Total physical memory: 2.048 MB
    Available physical memory: 1.32 GB

    Total virtual memory: 2 GB
    Total available memory: 1.96 GB

As this screen shot in Arabic shows:

I don't really know what mean these four memories.

It would be very much appreciated

Physical memory is actual RAM that is installed inyour PC is fast enough with respect to access to the data

Virtual memory is not physical in terms that you can't touch it or remomve it. Vitutal is a section of hard disk space unused which is used on-site for faster physical memory that your PC does not have memory.

Because the hard drive is slower interms of access data to physical memory, your PC will see improved performance by adding or replacing existing physical memory with amounts more or more (512 MB or more)

Virtual memory allows your computer to always run, but at a slower speed when you run applications that have used all of the physical memory. Remember, even before starting a program already running the operating system and other services which each allocate a block of physical memory for themselves. You can see exactly how much is used by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL and display of the process tab and the performance tab.

You can easily determine what your need to add to your PC memory by visiting a site like Crucial.com which allows you to scan your pc for the type of memory used.

  • In windows 7, which is a memory "hard fault"?

Windows 7 resource monitor displays a window marked "defects hard memory/100s." I have occaisionally see spikes of zero.  Does that mean I have faulty RAM?

    Hello

Hard faults do not represent an error condition. They are a normal part of treatment of memory.

Hard fault, it simply means that the block of memory must be extracted the pagefile (virtual memory) instead of physical memory (RAM).

An excessive number of hard faults may indicate a need to increase the physical memory.

THAT IS WHY I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCESS A VM MACHINES MORE...

because around 5 GB ram memory is locked by h/s reserved memory...

I asked the question of details for very specific reasons (your question of OS architecture).  This is important.

You have 32-bit Windows.  It does support up to 4 GB of memory (and not made up to 4 GB of memory available for anything whether it is running under the Windows 32-bit operating system said.)   The "up to" is explained by the way your hardware (video card is usually a large part) must also as the memory of some process.  Generally, a Windows installation of 32 bits in a system with 4 GB or the physical RAM plus will show between 2.89 and 3.75 GB available for the system to use.  So if you have 16 GB of physical memory - you only have access to between 2.89 and 3.75 GB of it through the operation of 32 bits, you have chosen to run.  The variance, again, depends on factors, including your hardware.

If you want to use the memory between 4 and 8 GB, even in a virtual machine, you will need to install 64-bit Windows.
You could go far in this, understand exactly why your device video (and other components) use a portion of the memory up to 4GB in your 32-bit operating system - but since you're not (AFAIK) using a Macintosh computer, and most likely, your system is 64-bit capable... your best bet is to get a version of 64-bit Windows installed and actually enjoy the equipment you bought.

    Hello

What platform is this. IR is designed to run only in 32-bit mode. However, we have some options to increase to more than 2 GB through the above mentioned parameters.  But in this case, you need to activate the 3 G switch in the network.

Still, you can try the following to refine IR

  • Reservations and their effect on memory in 4.1

    All the:

I read up on top of the excellent series of Frank Denneman on oversized VM and their impact.  I started to read more in-depth VMware documentation on it, and I came up with a question that I can't find the answer to yet.  Maybe someone here knows the answer.

If I have a Windows VM with a large reserve, given that the zeros the memory at startup of Windows, it will take the entire booking at the front.  My question is how does the GST and zero-page effect sharing only the affected memory?  I understand that once a machine has been attributed to his full booking, that memory will not be inflated, but these other features will reduce the impact on the memory of my physics?

    Thank you!

    Brandon

    Hey Bradon,

    Thanks for the add-in.

    Online reviews:

If I have a Windows VM with a large reserve, given that the zeros the memory at startup of Windows, it will take the entire booking at the front.

Good thing to know is that reserved memory is not equal to the memory allocated in all cases. If a page is shared between two vm of the allocated space is 0.5 pages, but the two or a single virtual machine will have a dedicated page.

Yes, it will reduce the amount of memory without reserve in the host\cluster. Unreserved memory is used by CAC to determine if it can market a virtual machine with a reserve of memory. It has nothing to do with active memory real or affected memory.

My question is how does the GST and zero-page effect sharing only the affected memory?

Normally, GST will collapse and share each identical to the host page. Unfortunately, if the virtual machine uses HW MMU (because of IVR AMD and Intel EPT) the VMkernel uses large pages. A great page (2 MB) is not shared by TPS. vSphere 4.1 uses zero page sharing, Duncan will display a very interesting post soon on zero page Thunder, so I don't want to steal the Thunder.

Small pages supported by large pages have precomputed tips for GST, so in case of real memory contention (less than 6% of free memory space of the host) the VMkernel might Exchange pages. But the VMkernel has a share before the swap and a compress before the exchange policy. If ESX breaks the large page and subsequently share all the same pages using precomputed indicators before they are swapped.

Because of this policy, sound very likey see page very little share in vSphere 4.1 on systems using IVR AMD or Intel EPT when the memory of the host is under committed themselves. Only when memory pressure is reached, mass page sharing occurs. Contrary to popular belief, the ability of reclaimation of memory page sharing in esx is not diminished, it's just postponed until free memory is really low.

I understand that once a machine has been attributed to his full booking, that memory will not be inflated, but these other features will reduce the impact on my physical memory

Correct, and that's exactly what you want. A reserve is a warranty of physical resources, if the system knows the claim or not.

Please read http://frankdenneman.nl/2009/12/impact-of-memory-reservation/ for more information on memory reservations.
