theoretical issues on memory

Hello

1 virtual address space is on the hard drive (where virtual memory is) or physical memory or both of it?

2. I see that virtual memory is divided into 2 sections, one section is private use (application) and one for the OS and share in its use, it is physical memory also has the same sections as the virtual memory (I want to say the private bytes and share bytes)?

3 cache system is in physical memory or virtual memory, or both?

4_ what exactly means editing the pages? very short explanation is sufficient.

5. in 32-bit systems I see that the page size is 4 KB KB how is the page in 64-bit sytems sizez?

6. I think that if I mix the memory with the same latency and same volt and the same model with different speeds in different Bank (not double) wil faster memory to work on the lowest speed of the memory, am I good or bad? (I know each wil memory, work on the speed of the motherboard and not higher).

answers very short wil suffice.

Thank you

Johan

#6 not a good idea to mix memory sticks.

most memory manufacturers / sellers have the information you are looking for

sites Web here a http://corsair.com .

they have forums that go into detail about the memory.

  • Issues of memory allocation?

In the 2 years I was using my Droid X, I never had any warning on the memory usage. When I created my Razr, it was loaded with less games and other programs that the X.

Today, I got a caution icon indicating "Low on space of the volume. This picture gave me the opportunity to move photos, movies and songs on the removable SD card, or launch the file manager to delete or move the files manually. It lists 0 files that meet these criteria.

Under settings/Applications/Running Applications, my benefits are as follows:

    • Downloaded: 796 MB used / 2.3 GB free
    • ALL: 762 MB used / 2.6 GB free
    • Media (internal storage) space: 8 GB used / free 0.00
    • Running: 288 MB used / 400 MB of free space

I do not understand this allowance, or why I'm off space on the Razr when it never happened to me on the Droid X. I would appreciate a discussion and an explanation of how the memory is allocated in the Razr and what can I do to solve this problem.

  • New issues of memory T440p

Our most recent transfer of T440p is only show 2.47 GB of memory to live on a 32-bit image of Windows 7. All previous expeditions showed 3.47 GB available. Has anyone seen this problem yet? We have done all updates, checked maximum memory in msconfig, adjusted video RAM in the newest BIOS revision and swapped the RAM, but nothing has changed the RAM can be used under windows. Any ideas?

  • OutOfMemoryError - Issue of memory management

We started to have a lot of ' means: Java heap space "of our stand-alone cache servers.

What is the best practice for the management of the bunch?

Is there a fail-safe mode that will force eviction when OutOfMemoryErrors occur?

    Hi llowrey

There is no built-in "Fail-safe" way to avoid errors of memory. By the time you get out of memory, it is probably too late to do something such as deportation.

You can the size limit of the caches to force the eviction when they reach a certain size, but even this will not guarantee that you do not run memory. The only way around this is to size correctly cache cluster. In this regard, the consistency is no different from a normal database where you do some sort of exercise of sizing to determine which disk to allocate. With consistency, you train how much data you want to add to the cache and then (in principle genral departure) multiplied by three to give you the amount of RAM you need. Depending on what you want to use for the segment size to you cache servers that you can then work on storage nodes, how much you need for you give the required RAM storage. Of course, just as you can add disks to a DB, you can add other nodes to a cluster of coherence as the growth of storage needs.

Other things also affect the amount of memory you must index, County of backup and also what you do in the cluster in addition to simply store data.

    Hello

    1. If the battery is empty (at all) a computer wil start the computer or not?

2-yes I put my ISP router to an empty place to not become overhitted?

    Thank you

    Johan

I had a PC that had a problem with the battery CMOS not communicating with, or in some other way
does not not (for two or three years).
-In this case, as long as the power is not the power supply and the machine switched off
is not disconnected, the BIOS settings will be not lost, and Windows does not start normally.

The main problem if the PC is disconnected from the power, and if you use the default BIOS settings
is that you have to re - adjust the time and date before you can start again under Windows.
If you have other parameters custom BIOS that they will also have to be restored. Some BIOS have a
ability to save and reload the settings if.

  • Memory of the host indicated in vCOPS v vCenter

    Hello

One of the things that I find vCOPS is that a lot of things I thought I knew now goes out the window.

Before vCOPS, we relied on vCenter and when the host started to use memory 80 or 85% report that it was time to add more RAM.
It seemed that many people use this figure as a reference point.

vCenter reports now that my guests are sitting at 90 and I get the occasional alarm.
Normally I would have placed an order and more material. I have this presentation vCOPS VMware which tells me that some said vCenter is accurate.

vCOPS says (under Details > workload) that my workload memory resembles 32%.

Memory | Use meter displays the host memory as is vCenter but memory | demand is actually 32% of and this is the number I need.

On the one hand, it's cool that everything is green in vCops, on the other hand, I'm nervous because fibrotic vCenter.

I have to start ignoring vCenter, now that I have vCOPS running?

    See you soon

Well, I said that the issue of memory management is complicated.   We try to make easy to use Ops vC, but obviously some of the complications come through.

In any case, Yes, I think that it's ok to ignore what tells VC.  Since you are always run things a certain way according to VC, it is probably better to start overcommitting slowly.  (Evolutionary change is always better than revolutionary.)  But the general response is that Yes, VC alerts are generally much too conservative and aren't really take a variety of performance data into account.

  • How low can I put my memory limit?

I read a little on the definition of reserve and limit the values of memory and CPU for virtual machines and I understand what they're doing. I'm not really sure, that's what say the numbers in the last three columns of my picture attached vmperf1.jpg or vmperf2.jpg. Unless I don't really know what I'm talking about you, "Guest Mem %" seems to indicate that the virtual machine uses this percentage of memory, it was allocated by ESX. If this is the case, and the virtual machine is not a widely used or very busy machine, could I theoretically put my memory quite low limit to find some resources? Help me understand these numbers. If you have any links so that I can RTFM, that would be great.

Here is a link to the guide to management of resources of 3.5.  It will be useful.  I'll make sure to take a look at the memory usage of server over time (week/month) before you set your limits too low as server memory consumption can vary considerably depending on the load.

  • Satellite A200 - beep code unknown

    Hey guys,.

Got an A200 m01 (I think) of 2008, who last night decided to no boot. He makes before the BIOS screen, but when at Windows startup, the screen turns off and beeps continuous (and infinite) (kind of pulse). Now, I can't find anything on Insyde BIOS, but the common continuous beep is a RAM error. I was hoping that this would be the case (although I realize posting is completed before the BIOS splash screen is displayed and so I am at a loss as to what she is ACATUALLY), but to remove a RAM module the system only gives me a BIOS beep code! What the hell!

And no amount of Googling got me closer to resolve this. I'm a poor student, so I can't afford to bring to a repairer of computer for them to charge me $80 to say its dead, so if anyone has any information I would be very grateful!

    Thank you

    Taylor

    Hey Taylor,

I think the problem is that only an authorized service provider knows the exact beep codes and their reasons so that you can t find much in the Internet.

Of course such a problem is a little annoying but you re right, theoretically it could be a RAM problem. As I understand, a single module of RAM is installed on your computer, right?
Have you already tested the module in a different RAM slot? Theoretically the slot memory could be faulty also.

In addition you can test the RAM itself module using software special test than Memtest86. It s freeware tools that you can find with Google. Simply create a bootable disc and boot of it. The test will start but it can take up to an hour or more until he finished s.

Maybe Memtest86 will find something but let's wait what happens if comments would be great. :)

  • Gateway stops unexpectedly

My wife computer laptop Gateway running Vista Premium, was close without warning. It is not restart. Sometimes after staying inactive for half an hour approximately. I have the game of the energy saver to never stop. Any ideas?

    Leatherneck65,
Check the event log will give you an indication of what device or a program can cause this problem so it's a good thing to do.  If there is anything in the event log to indicate what happened to the time where the unit stopped, I would recommend talking to gateway since it is most likely a hardware problem.  It is always possible that it could be the operating system, but unlikely.  It could be a power supply issue, a memory problem or motherboard, etc.

In order to exclude any OS issues, recently you updates on your computer?  Install new hardware or software?  Updated all programs?  You could try to do a system restore to a date before the problem began:

  • External drive Seagate 3 t, added to Windows 7 x 64

    Dear brilliant:

I got a Seagate 3 use 1 terabyte external drive.) backup and 2.) offering an extra room for future projects. He is currently attached to my RESUME, Windows7 x 64 laptop. I have 6 G of Ram and a 650 (theoretical) Gig internal memory. 3T is obviously an exaggeration. However, it could allow do me a bit of his work / in the future, so I want to partition properly.

This is my problem: I downloaded the recommended software to partition the drive, run the recovery, Seagate etc (Acronis). I also downloaded the manual on how to do these things, and it was filled with words that I had to search and received an education. But I don't quite know the Seagate Assistant is necessary? It seems to interfere with the closing of my system fast and has layers of capacity/complexity that I may not need.

Anyway, will I be stupid? Or is the MSFT software currently on my machine all that we must back up my extensive files.

I think (?) I understand the need for the TPG v MBR and would have to get a degree (after some study) nothing to do with the business of BIOS, but it seems that my HP is all set to these historic things. Not just partition the Seagate with Windows? What are the benefits to using Seagate Assistant with the Seagate external hard drive, if any? And what pitfalls could I meet, in both cases.

It I said my peace. I look forward to great tips of your brilliant, as always...

    Valerie

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
Since you're using a 3 TB hard drive, I recommend to use the Seagate Assistant and select the type of GPT partition if it is equal to or greater than 2 TB. I personally advice not to create any partiiton as it will reduce the total useful capacity of the hard drive as being will take more space for stamp and other purposes of working OS - and if you want to create partitions, you are welcome.
Consult the manual of Seagate or contact Seagate support for operations related to the change in the BIOS settings (confirm is it necessary or not).
  • How to configure the network adapter when you run ESXi on VmWare workstation?

How to configure the network card installing ESXi on VmWare workstation 6.0.0?

These are the options: I tried bridged, host-only NAP.  None of them works

    Network Setting Option.PNGNo Network Adapter.PNG

What Miss me? driver or adapater?

I'm running on vmware workstation on Windows 7 with Lenovo laptop.

in the configuration of your virtual machine, the main issue is memory. you gave the 2 GB of RAM, whereas ESXi 6 cannot go forward without minimum 4 GB of RAM.

If please have 4 GB of RAM and re-run Setup. you will get through.

message about the network card should also not appear after that. What kind of network you choose depends on your need.

  • Fusion 6.0.6 Windows 7 Pro 64 bit is installed in 32-bit

    Hello

When I install (using either method 'easy' fusion or not) Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, I find myself with a Windows 7 Pro 32 bit virtual machine.

I was looking for, but I don't see, not to specify the bits 32 vs 64-bit while doing the installation.

I use Mac OS 10.10.4, with 8 GB of RAM (4 GB virtual machine allocation, but reading on this subject...).

Just to make it a little more weird, I have already built a machine virtual win 7 Pro 64-bit (OEM) and which works perfectly.

I enclose the screenshots of the computer / properties for comparison. I think it is noted that the installation of Win 7 Pro 32 bit shows the "scoring system" as "unavailable".

In addition, the allocation of RAM for Windows 7 Pro 32 bit vm is NOT conducted through properly. I took care to change that to 4 GB, when I made this facility again, thinking that I had missed the first time. No, the change I made using the Fusion VM settings panel is certainly NOT current to the resulting virtual machine. It is always set correctly in that Fusion VM Control Panel settings.

Anyone can shed some light on this?

    Thank you in advance,

    Jack

Hi Jack and welcome on VMware communities!

The flavors of 32-bit and 64-bit Windows are separate installation media.  If you end up with a 32-bit operating system in the virtual machine, this is because the disk or image that you are installing to contains a 32-bit version of Windows.  Make sure you use the correct installation disc or image.

On the issue of memory size, was completely closed virtual machine when you have increased the RAM to 4 GB?  Try to restart the operating system, and then check if it shows the correct amount.

    See you soon,.
