  • Hard drive does not start on Presario

I have a Compaq Presario SR2050NX which is no longer boot from the hard drive under XP or Diags. I think it might be the hard disk controller or a corrupted bios. It crashes as soon as the mountain and the moon appear on the partition of diagnosis.

I have a Presario identical unit, so I thought that I want to borrow this hard drive to help debug. Same results.

I checked the boot order in the BIOS and it has floppy, CD/DVD, hard drive then. I also tried to plug the cable from the hard drive into one of the connectors and also tried a new cable from hard drive. No luck. I also traded memory just in case, but always the same result.

I looked to see if I can update the BIOS where it was corrupted, but it gives me a .exe file I need to run in Windows. Is there a bootable CD to update the BIOS?

This is what my bios at startup:

    BIOS string: 63-0100-000001-000101111-072606-RS400-RC410-M-YZKC

What can I do now? I can debug more. I'm not ready to buy a new system, and it seems that replacement motherboards are out of stock. I am happy to send in for service, but I didn't understand how to make yet on the HP site.

Thanks for any help on this
    CAT

Sounds more like a problem of motherboard BIOS corrupted. If the BIOS was corrupted you wouldn't be able to do much more in addition put on.

  • the hard drive goes inside the machine who has a handle inside the dc7700?

  • PC HP Compaq 8000 Elite: Hard drive of PC HP Compaq 8000 Elite

I want to spend the hard drive in my 8000 Elite.  It seems that all are 6 GB/s (SATA 3) these days.  Seagate said I'm looking at that will work if my computer is not 6 G/s if the controller supports the SATA speed autonegotiation.

question 1: what is the speed of the controller, I spent the last two hours looking unsuccessfully.

2nd question: is this the controllers SATA speed autonegotiation support?

    Thank you!

    Vince.

    Hello:

I'm running a Sandisk 240 GB SATA III (6.0 GB/S) SSD in my 8000 Elite CMT and it works fine.

I used to have a 1 TB SATA III hard disk in it.  It worked very well also.

It will only work in the SATA II (3.0 GB/S) of speed, because it is so fast that the Intel 4 series chipset will run to.

The first 8xxx Elite business desktop PC that could run at a hard drive SATA III 6.0 GB/S pace, is the Elite 8200 series with the Intel 6 Series chipsets.

Do not exceed a HDD 2 TB in your PC if you intend to use it as a boot drive.  The BIOS does not support the readers from over 2 TB to be used as boot disks.

  • wanting to upgrade ram in my compaq presario sr1220nx desktop computer, but mixes information

I have difficulties to obtain the correct information in the upgrade of ram in my sr1220nx. I currently have 512 MB in a slot and nothing in the other. Is gone to typical products, they said that I can put a maximum of 2 GB (1 GB in each slot). A lot of sites on the net say the same thing. (used their progam Configurator) I downloaded crucial.com scanner who has also verified maximum capacity of 2 GB. I was going to order 2 GB pny brand on amazon.com, but before I did I contacted technical support at the pny site and it said that my computer may not contain total 1 gb (512 in the two slots) he sent me care off hp.com site that has verified this info. I'm a bit at a loss. Thanks for any help. Message attached:

Please contact the Technical Support. No, unfortunately, it's the incorrect memory and sizes. Here are the specs of your system:

    http://bizsupport1.Austin.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document.jsp?objectID=c00234202&lang=en&cc=u...

You can only use the PC-2700 (333 mhz) memory, and you can improve only 1 GB (two 512 MB modules). Chances are that you have currently two modules of 256 MB in the system, so you can install both of them and you will hit the max, the system can manage:

    Hey, Dan:

I use Patriot memory all the time. It should be of low density. Low density is the only way to go.

  • Compaq Presario CQ60: hard disk for presario cq60

    Hello!

I hope someone can help me because I have searched everywhere for the answer and just can't find it...

In any case, anyone know which hard drive comes with the Compaq Presario CQ60?  Which means, I've had the computer for a while and I'm back from the service (not HP) and was missing a memory card, so I checked the HARD drive and noticed that it is a Toshiba.  Anyone know if this is what usually comes with this model?

    I appreciate the help.

The laptop will come with one of several brands of hard drive.

It all depends on what HP had available in the supply chain at the time to the needs for specific laptop when the laptop is being manufactured.

  • HP Compaq Desktop Mod CQ511OF: W7, using the upgrade on the new hard drive disc

Hello everyone; The 5 years, 320 GB hard drive on my HP Compaq CQ5110F desktop model is tired and I would like to replace it with a hybrid drive SSD Seagate 1 TB. My concern is that this computer has been upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. The vignette, I placed on this computer that came with the disc to upgrade the readings; "Windows Vista HmPm - Win 7 HmPm UPG fill HP".  So my question is can I use the drive of W7 upgrade to install W7 on the new 1 TB hard drive, the 'system' will use the product code located on the sticker provided with the upgrade disk? The computer is supported up to 1 TB Seagate Backup Plus.  The computer is, bicoeur AMD 2.5 GHZ, 32 bit, 3 GB of ram. I would be happy to provide additional information. I appreciate all the comments really. Thank you very much for your help, Oscarmint

You cannot use an upgrade disc to install an OS on a new hard drive.

You could clone the old hard drive to the new hard drive using a program like Macrium reflect free

  • Is it possible to back up my entire hard drive on iCloud?

I have some problems with my iMac built from 21 "to end of 2009 running OS 10.9.5.  It will not initialize correctly, works slowly and I continue getting the spinning wheel of doom whenever I try to perform any function.  I had to work for hours this afternoon, just to do it online.  Tried to boot mode safe and everything else I could think of.  Finally tried to boot in diagnostic mode and it just seemed to start.  But not in the way I was trying for.  I think while I run it I had better save what I have on the hard drive.  I don't have an external hard drive or I would just use Time Machine.  Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do?

A backup is not the best of all the alternatives, you always want to have a good backup, both preferably. I would buy an external hard drive, it's the best way to go. And if you use a clone and that your hard drive goes down you can start just from the clone up to that fix it you. I keep a backup Time Machine, and clones. You can use a software of cloning asSuperDuper! or double clone.

The advantage of the clone, it's that it is bootable. The advantage of TM, is that it creates recursive backups, so you can restore a file or the whole disc of a certain point in time.

  • Portege M200 - the hard drive failed

My 60 GB Toshiba hard drive failed in my Portege M200.

I tried mounting a hard drive, I had in my old laptop, a 30 GB Hitachi hard drive but the laptop doesn't seem to recognize it. Does need a Toshiba hard drive or is the laptop died, when I put the hard drive in I get message invalid startup disk.

The old hard drive goes to a blue screen then restart the laptop.

No there not Toshiba HDD only. I found the list of some compatible hard drives for this old Portege.
You can use follow hard drives:
    -TOSHIBA HDD2193B
    -TOSHIBA HDD2171B
    -TOSHIBA HDD2184B
    -TOSHIBA HDD2194B
    -HITACHI G8BC00014410
    -HITACHI G8BC00014610
    -HITACHI G8BC00015610
    -HITACHI G8BC00014810

Anyway, when you try to use new BIOS to check updated HARD drive and if default settings the new HARD drive will be recognized correctly in the BIOS settings.

Old HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
Have you tried to install the OS by using old HDD?

There are two main sizes of the reader:

Nominal 2.5 "drives for laptops. Long ago, he must also worry about the thickness, but not for these two models.
