Has no short DST

The battery on my HP Pavillion G Series (running Windows 7), came out, so I ordered a new. I put the battery and opened to display a screen that tells me to choose either to 'Start repair' or 'Start Windows normally'. Whatever it is, the screen freezes. I it turned off and rebooted, then to press F2 and made the starting Test. Here are the results:

Sounds like the hard drive has failed or is failing fast and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If this is not the case, a laptop SATA hard detail can be used. Just be sure to get a quality at least equal the original in order to use recovery disks. It may be big, but not small ability more. For example if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can use a 750 GB hard drive, but not a 320 GB hard drive.

    My laptop is HP g002ax, and it opens to a black screen in normal mode after showing the symbol of hp. I did an update of the bios is a few days. So I tried to roll back the bios, but it did not help. I conducted tests of the system and found that the short dst check has failed. Then I opened the windows in safe mode and took a backup of my important data. I think that if it opens in safe mode, it must be due to some corrupt software, not hardware. What should I do? I tried to uninstall the GPU drivers, but that has not helped as well. I recently ran out of warranty and I don't want now replacements. Is there a way it can be rectified. Help, please!     It certainly seems that your hard drive has failed.  I hope you made a backup of your personal data and you did the recovery disks.

    Here's a guide for you help restore the system after replacing the drive.  Read it before buying the new drive.  It will help you to ensure that your experience is positive.  The guide is for Win 7.  If you have another OS, you can search for the same guide.  If you decide to add an SSD, it must be at least 120 GB.

    This problem could be due to an Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, incorrect judgments, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power so portable, sudden falls etc...

    HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

    Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

    Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:

    Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.

    Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds

    Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)

    Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

    If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

    If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

    Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the faulty HDD through SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the drive HARD and reinstall the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.     Im having freezing randomly and stopping the laptop to answer.     Failure of the [disk Self Test] DST indicates that your hard drive will probably fail in the near future.

    You should backup all important files, to create a system recovery media and replace the hard drive with the same size or larger than the original.

    book is 12 days and suddenly went to hang at the windows logo. various attempts don't (tool startup repair, System Restore, recovery center) did not help.

    has been able to get to the CMD directory and copied some critical files on a flash drive and ran the full recovery of the system from the backup partition. provided that the factory successfully restored and it recharges without problem.

    has run the system test once again, the same disk failure.

    I know that you have no crystal ball, but I had a HARD drive broke from the start? any chance that the HARD drive will do that to me one more time?

    It is under warranty, so I can get it changed or all exchanged (but I'm in one of those crazy people "leaving the country" scenarios, no, really, we're leaving for Peru in 3 days.)

    The short DST failed normally means that the drive HARD must be replaced.

    You will need to file a claim to HP warranty service, when you get back from the Peru (if you're not going to be gone too long).

    Last year, I bought the laptop from HP Pavilion dv7-4070us, running windows 7 64 bit. Everything was fine and dandy until recently. These days I only watched youtube videos and TV shows, when one day I turn on my computer to find that it remains on the splash screen of Windows 7 for an abnormal amount of time. This happened to me once before, but for some strange reason, (FYI: I'm tech savvy, so this question was a little weird) it was set the last time. However, unlike last time, the issue has not been resolved, the loading times still takes like 5 min or more. More when I run the diagnostic system test, the hard drive failed the short DST with the id of the fault: PKVV5g - 5525T 4 - XD003G - 60QN03.

    In addition, I ran the (samsung "collaborates" with seagate) drive hard seagate diagnostic with the same result, short failure of DST, but generic long and short generic and chip is checked and passed. So I was wondering if anyone had this similar problem and how did you resolve the situation. Again, the only thing I've done recently is only go on internet to see youtube and television series/films, only changes would be updated to windows. Another think I really have not tinkered around with the system.

    Searching high and low, it seems that I might have to replace the hard drive. However, I hope to not have to do it because the warranty just expired a few months ago. If someone could please answer or help I would appreciate it a lot! Happy holidays.

    Failure of the DST is always in my experiences of time to replace the hard drive. Better, download your backed up files soon because sometimes the failure comes quickly after this notice.

    I have a laptop Pavilion dv3-4050ea, who died recently.

    I tried to use the system restore function, but which fails to half way through.

    One other poster here led me to press f2 at startup and run the startup test that ends with a short DST has no message.

    This means that the HARD drive is dead?

    I can replace it with any HARD drive? or should it be a drive HARD HP?

    In the meantime, I ordered the HP restore disks, which I'm trying to install, but I'd be curious to know what is the meaning of the brief message failed DST.

    is your laptop still under the one year free warranty?

    If this is the case, you can contact HP for a replacement warranty covered drive.

    If it is no longer under warranty, you can buy a replacement online from a seller of a store.

    The replacement hard drive must have the same interface of connection and be at least the same capacity in gigabytes.
