Help! I have been scammed, now what?

Last night so that online I had sailed on a site that does not look right, I tried to leave and instantly received a tip that urgent advised me to contact an 866-500-4? because now I had a virus. I tried to remove and leave, but he wouldn't let me. He also had a shrill sound alert. So I called and then downloaded two elements (teamviewer.com, support.me) which enabled them to be on my computer to "solve" the problem. I became very suspicious because no apple badges were on their 'help', yet I watched, they flew through the stuff (console, terminal and info apple which showed the age of the equipment, and who had put an end to my time of support. Being a disabled person firm and now quite suspicious, I did not pay the $ 99 to "solve" the problem, so he gave me what he called, a temporary solution. He went to my firewall settings - off things, I re-emptied the Recycle Bin, checked my firewall that he was conducting, and then fell asleep. (Shutdown).

I'm not a computer genius. I read a similar post and the tips were to reconfigure, and then reinstall the operating system. How can I do this? I am very worried, that I now have a Trojan horse.

Please tell me what to do.

Thanks in advance for any help.

René

You do not have a virus or a Trojan horse; you do not have initially - in the world, no one would know what you have on your computer. Crooks to separate you from your money.

You must not only completely wipe your hard drive and reinstall the OS, but you must also call your banks, credit card companies, etc., that no one could know what information he was able to fly off your computer. You must also change ALL your passwords everywhere.

So, first call your financial institutions. And change your passwords everywhere.

Then, back up your personal files, photos, videos, etc.

Then use recovery (command + R or command + Option + R) just after the starting Gong to connect to Apple servers. When you see the utility window, choose disk utility to erase your hard drive. When you are finished, choose to reinstall OS X. It is the only method to ensure that nothing of all that they did still remains.

    Hello

    You have work to do.

When you have given permission for criminals to access your computer, they are not eliminating any virus or fixing the computer, they are actually stealing all the personal information on your hard drive.

Any personal information on this computer now belongs to them. See the following links.

  • I have been scammed by Mindbrix last week. Is it possible that they could have downloaded Malware in my Macbook Pro? The computer works fine now, but should I run a kind of diagnosis or that someone check it out?

I have been scammed by Mindbrix last week, and this community let me know... Thank you! Is it possible that they could have installed some sort of malicious software on my Macbook Pro X or am I protected? My computer works normally at this stage.

Is it possible that they could have installed some sort of malicious software on my Macbook Pro X or am I protected?

If you don't give them access to your computer or download something on their request, you should be fine. If you allow them access or downloaded something, you must erase and reformat your hard drive, then restore your computer from a backup taken before when you allowed them access. Change your passwords and other critical information also. Not sure what software have been installed. If necessary, contact your bank to make opposition and cancel your credit card.

  • I think that we have been scammed? Can anyone offer some advice.

My wife had a phone call from someone claiming to be a Microsoft technician helping to get rid of its error messages.

We are located in Geelong, Australia.

She went to a www.boot.usa.cc website and has been invited to download and run the program which has been az3qfg.bn1.livefilestore.com...

A she was the victim of a scam, and what do we have this program?

Any help on what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

    Cheers, JFo!

Yes you have been scammed, MS does not phone people, nor MS of the email of the people except in response to a conversation of e-mail, the individual began

No idea what the program did, in the worst case, he extracted details log-on/word password for different sites, including the Bank/store cards etc.

Then to be sure you contact all of your financial institutions to change your password/maps, etc. and change any password on any other site that you use, including email.

And to be sure you need to recover your PC to factory state using a destructive restore that will destroy everything on the PC

  • I think that I have been scammed by the company supposed to work for windows saying that my computer was about to crash

A company called vap technology called me last night on my phone at home and said to my computer was about to crash. they were Indian speaking people and said they were working for microsoft support; as I am not a laptop user profficent of long date, I couldn't tell if they were or not. How to get back money from $149, I paid them to fix the problems and how to uninstall the programs they put on my laptop; also what can I use to tell if it's a microsoft technology? Help!

    It is a scam. See:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx .

If they have access to your PC, they can install any number of malicious programs. My recommendation is to do a clean reinstall of Windows - it's the only way to be sure that your system is clean.

If you have them paid by credit card, tell your card provider immediately what has happenend.

All the data on your computer (passwords, credit card numbers, numbers of account documents, etc.) may have been compromised (they may not know now). According to the companies concerned (for example your bank) what happened.

Use another PC to change passwords.

    Consider telling your local police.

  • Everyone actually works in FireFox, or is it just people here in the forum? It is absoultely no way I can communicate with someone at FireFox... It is totally useless to try more. I have been trying now for 2 weeks

For openers, I can't connect. My username will not work and the only way I can get in at all is to open a new email account with another e-mail server

    What a mixed suit

You asked, the questions I had were

Supports FireFox 9... HP Support Assistant

FireFox supports... Band in a box of 2012

Neither does not work after installing FireFox 9

Firefox does not interfere with your "HP Support Assistant" program (I installed it on my HP laptop) so if it doesn't work anymore, you have to contact HP support or see this page if you want to reinstall: http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-support-assistant.html

I don't know anything about "band in a box of 2012" or if it includes a Firefox Add-on. See reactivate the modules that have been disabled when updating to Firefox in case that's the problem. I found the support page for the software "Band in a box of 2012" here: http://www.pgmusic.com/support.htm

For connection problems, start a new topic in the forum Discussions Community SUMO, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors
... and add "Attn: Admin" in the title so that it is the attention of a support administrator, for example: "[Attn: Admin] problems of user name and logon.

What exactly is the software that you have installed?

    Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

The software is called RegWork.  I had to pay for it.  It is not yet enabled.  It seems to be just a type of utility to clean my system scan.  Since it was recommended by Microsoft Security Essentials, I thought it was the right thing to do.
Should I continue to carry out this activation or should I unstall it.

What makes you think that Microsoft Security Essentials recommended
    It? That cannot be good.

You must uninstall it. Registry cleaning programs are all snake
oil. The registry cleaning is not necessary and dangerous. Leave the
Only registry and do not use any registry cleaner. Despite what a lot
people think, and try to which suppliers of software record cleaning
convince you to have used really doesn't hurt registry entries
    you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
    It can have.

    Read http://www.edbott.com/weblog/archives/000643.html
    and http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099
    and also
    http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/Archive/2005/10/02/registry-junk-a-Windows-fact-of-life.aspx

Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the risk of a significant problem. And since there is no
benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
    good deal.

  • What should I do if I think I have been scammed?

I heard that I won a prize, but no matter how I try to claim that it he told me that I need to check ny email that they sent to me, but no email was sent. I tried 3 times and no still no e-mail. What should I do?

    Hello

This looks a lot like someone, or trying to rip you off by getting personal information that could be used to defraud you.

If you've spent money or bank details for these people, I highly recommend you immediately contact the relevant law enforcement service for your competence and your credit card provider / Bank.

I do not know what details you gave them, but you should be very careful with any email you receive or change your e-mail address. The same with any phone number or other contact details you have given.

I don't know what legal jurisdiction, you are in, but I recommend to have a read of this site of the British Government with focus on identity theft.

Regarding Firefox and your computer, I recommend that walk you through this article and make sure your operating system and security software is up-to-date and switched to decisions.

  • Support page of HP HPPhotosmartEssential has been replaced. All my pictures have disappeared. Now what?

I have a HP desktop PC Win7 64 bit.  A previous customer better, he explains that I am facing a very similar problem.   "Whenever I reboot, get messages of installer of Windows that it cannot install HPPhotosmartEssential software and I have to click OK and cancel several times to cross the pop - ups."  My programs Windows shows that I have HP Photosmart Essential 3.5 installed. "Could not load the software I uninstalled the HP application in the hope that I could reinstall it again.  My hope is dashed because I just learned about the HP support page that HPPhotosmartEssential has been replaced.  All the family photos that were on the site disappeared. That leaves me with one question, is it possible that I can recover these photos?

You have misunderstood the purpose of the HP PhotoSmart Essential software. It aims to provide a way to organize your photos on your PC or home network. You can use other software such as

Your photos are always on your PC-home drive network hard, except if you have deleted the.

You can install Picasa and it will provide photo organization and editing functions. Let the search and find your lost for you photos.

  • I believe that I have been scammed by a "dealer" with a crack. Teacher needs it is besides a crack.

He promised me a license for Lightroom 6 but sent a "amtlib.dll" file to replace on a copy of test.

I'm sure this is a crack and that I was scammed, but I need an official response to claim my rebate at the store (this is an eBay as store with refund fraud). Is there ANY circumstance where replace him "amtlib.dll" file is a form with a valid license?

    Thank you.

    Dancovich,

You should have received a serial number which is a 24 digit code to activate a product. You can also get the redemption code that will lead you again to a serial number (24 digits) to activate the product. In any case give a .dll file is not replaced.

You can report the incident on: reports - add advanced and check: pirated software | Adobe anti-piracy.

    I hope this helps.

  • A I move or copy the VM? I have neither. Now what?

I got my Mac connected (the GPU has gone wrong) and she came back with all the virtual machines 'locked '. I unlocked an and tried to run, but the merger request now that I have moved or copied the VM, even if I don't have neither. My guess is should I choose 'copy' but I wonder what impact this will have, especially with regard to activation / license within the virtual machine. What may have caused change tis? What is a permissions problem due to some kind of diagnosis that could occur while they fixed my Mac?

If the repair center replace your motherboard, this could change things such as Fusion thought that your virtual machines are on a different computer. You probably want to "move" - see http://blogs.vmware.com/teamfusion/2008/10/vmware-fusion-3.html for a description of each option as a result.
