• Prevent crawlers search of the help output engines

  I'm trying to understand how we can prevent our webhelp HTML parsing by the search engines like Google. I found these instructions by digging through some of the debates on this forum: Stop engine search bots indexing your folders private by 'robots.txt'. | Internet marketing Blog

  However, it seems that we could add code in the project itself in order to stop search engines to explore using. We tried to add this code in our master page from the master page is applied to all subjects, but the code does not stay after the output has been generated:

  Does anyone know how we can prevent search engines to explore our help?

  The masterpage heading will not work for this. Personally, I would also do a find and replace in the output. It's the fastest way.

  Remember that search engines index only not your from site of meta tags is a courtesy, it does not completely block bots. Only the good guys such as Google will hear it. Not even a robots.txt file will block crawlers. (See for example: learn more about robots.txt - files help search on Console) If you don't want really not any unauthorized access, you can force authentication on your server.

• Search command in the web help output

  How can I create a lookup field in web help that allows my users freely search the text in my online help? I want the search box appear in the navigation panel traditional tripane online help. I don't want the default second index concordance of RoboHelp 7 to appear. ZoomSearch is the only alternative? I'm already getting a learning curve trying to produce the documents. I don't want to learn another tool.
  
  The first time I ran Adobe RoboHelp 7 for HTML I used Word files as input to create the content. I got the page numbers listed in the Index, the index 'Search' and in imported cross-references. How can I disable the numbering of the pages for the primary structure of webhelp?

  Those aren't page numbers, they 'hit' amounts, which occurs because the DHTML is not enabled.

  Select it DHTML > Java Applet > pure HTML option in the Format Panel preferred the second dialog box in properties available to Webhelp and then generate the output. Who's going to do.

• Frame12 include master page or page reference objects in the HTML Help output?

  Hi, I'm looking for a copy of FrameMaker 12.

  While I can do a lot with the settings available in the dialog box publish, there still doesn't seem to be possible to include objects from Master Pages or reference Pages in CHM output?

  When you use TechCommSuite, I can work around this by applying "Master Pages" within RoboHelp (for example to add a standard footer to each theme and with a small logo of declaration and copyright society).

  It's not like there's a way to do it with the command post of Frame12? Or am I missing something?

  If you look in the outputs > General properties of the publication settings page, there is now an option to import the HTML template file. The option type of works in a way bass-ackwards, you click on the box first, then you get a window to select the file and then you must click on the button import.

  

• Need help output PDF in bigger format!

  I am trying to create a banner of 36 "x 94". I designed it with Quark Xpress 8.5, which does not allow for models that large, that's why I created the banner at 25%. I intended to create a PDF of it to 400% for the printer (using Acrobat X), but I can't figure out how to do this, because I don't have an option of page size that is large enough. Help, please!

  You cannot print to PDF to 400%, but your printer should be able to take the pdf file and print the pdf to the scale of 400%. If this isn't the case, it's time for a new printer.

  On my calendar, my images require a setting slightly, but crispy with a nice dynamic look. When I got out to the H.264 format, for example, the video seems dull and flat.

  1 in QuickTime Player, go in Edition > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences.

  2. click the Advanced tab and change DirectX in safe mode (GDI only).

  3. close the QuickTime Player.

  4. Open QuickTime Player and play the file.

• Web-help output - question of square bales (firefox)

  I wonder if someone came up with a fix for balls square not be properly displayed in Firefox.

  I created a few lists using the list multi level styles that work perfectly.

  The bullet list view excellent in all browsers apart from firfox. It's the square bullets displayed as symbols of § .  

  The obvious solution is not not to use square bales

  Or use an image for ball square but can that make differently in print.

  I'd rather work around the problem using the default chips.

  Appreciate it is a matter of firefox rather than Robohelp specfic. But of course someone out there has a solution?

  I'm juggling round with styles to try and sort it out but would like advice.

  With thanks to Vivek Kumar for highlighting, you can specify other fonts, here's how.

  

  The simple way is just to scroll down the drop-down list Style list, and then select Filled Square.

  Click new and you will enter a whole new world, where you can select any font at your disposal. It is suggested that you select a unicode font.

  

  Start by clicking on + and enter a name for the sequence. Then, select the desired font. Easiest way to add the chip you want is going to run Windows and type Charmap. Select the same font you want and locate the ball you want. Click Select and then copy and that the ball is now in your Clipboard.

  Where do you see the Edit sequence box, paste the chip you want.

  Click OK, and then select this sequence in the first screen.

  You can create other sequences for lower levels.

  The Add option is to allow more than one item at a given level. This would be used for alphanumeric characters to give 1, 2, 3 etc.

• Responsive HTML5 has an option to force the output to be lowercase?

  You use RoboHelp 11.0.3.268, I test the Responsive HTML5 available as a potential upgrade to our current SSL WebHelp. The only thing I can't find in the configuration of the SSL is the option to force the output in lower case as what is offered to WebHelp and other SSL. It is a requirement of critical project because our team of authors on Windows, which is insensitive to case sensitive, and we publish the help output for UNIX web servers, which is case-sensitive.

• URGENT! -Import of a project to help web

  I was invited to consider whether or not we can import the web help output in a new help project.

  The scenario is as follows:

  • Current master i.e RoboHELP, it is always the latest version, we have not master of RoboHELP for previous versions
  • We have a release of web help for each previous version but NOT the masters of RoboHELP
  • RoboHELP seems to have no way to import the web help output in a robohelp project

  How could we use the output of the web to reverse in robohelp projects help please?

• Help topic for air navigation links broken

  I have saved this as a bug, but I was wondering if anyone has experience this problem.

  When generating the "Air support and browser based help" output format (and download the files from the browser to the server web and AirHelp application installation), the navigation links that appear above the window under the buttons of navigation/search bar and assistance are broken. The following example illustrates the uni-volet model, but the problem occurs with all models.

  By clicking on the link of the first or the second heading (in the area surrounded by a red circle), it shows "the page cannot be found" and the navigation links themselves disappear.

  

  I noticed that the problem only exists when the subjects in the project manager are organized in subfolders. If all the subjects in the project manager are in the top-level folder, the links navigate correctly. In addition, the links aren't clickable in online mode, in local mode. I was unable to disable all navigation links, or make it not clickable in mode online.

  I am running RH9, Windows 7 (64-bit).

  Any help would be appreciated.

  It seems that the response should not generate help AIR browser based for the item online.

  I generated webhelp ensuring instead that has unchecked the option display navigation links. With making bread everything worked well in both the online and offline help. The user opens the help and if a connection is available aid uses by default in the view online content, which is local. Without a connection, or when the user chooses to go in offline mode, they remain in the view, but with local content.

• Helps air and browser-based PDF files

  I'm if happy to have the forum like that, hoping that sharing experiences will help a little further.

  Recently, I tried to generate a browser based AIR helps in combination with merged projects. Moreover, Peter Grainge tutorial was very helpful here, thanks Peter!

  My project also contained a single PDF file in a luggage container. After that I had published my file, I noticed that it was not possible to open the PDF file somehow.

  So I tried the same with Adobe AIR Application to contribute and worked the PDF. Now, I was wondering if I did something wrong or what I need to be aware of something.

  Personally, I don't mind using Adobe AIR Application Help, the only downside I had discovered next to local, is installing the spacing document seemed to be a bit strange. In fact, there is no space between the border and the content. With any other release of single source there is, including the browser based AIR support.

  I have not found any similar problems on this forum, but maybe someone of you has a tip for me.

  Have you tried the help output based on an opening in the browser Firefox, or chrome browser. Internet Explorer has a problem where it opens all files in the case of the browser based help seen locally (security issue with IE).

  If you publish this aid to any Web server, and the view from there, everything will start works fine as expected. Please check and let me know

• Microsoft HTML Help - lack expand icon in the table of contents

  

  Hello

  The development (+) icon suddenly is no longer in the table of contents, when I generate a Microsoft HTML Help output. I can always double click books to develop them and see the underlying topics... but no + icon.

  I have attached a few screenshots of what is happening and what needs to happen.

  I have a report and compatible csv filename-help output.the say: specify a name for the export file. If no name is specified, the name of the region is used followed by the .csv extension.

  Hi Christian,

  in your case, there is a timing issue: substitution for the title of region is part of the process in the region as is the name of the file. There is no double-substitution at that time here. Imagine the current state to be filename: = NVL (substitute (filename), region_title) where region_title has the value that is given to the rendering process.

  We are referencing an element of page hidden as filename directly, for example '& PX_FILENAME... '. CSV '.
  The value of the element is calculated by a method of executed page 'On Submit - after calculations' and Validations, and works very well. You can try to put the name of the file to be 'Kundenrechnung Nr. & P35_X_RECHNR... CSV' for P35_X_RECHNR must contain the value appropriate at this time.

• Missing images in Web help

  I've recently encountered a problem with a RoboHELP project where the graphics appear not in the output of the web help despite having been properly linked in the topics. This has happened spontaneously without any action on my part.
  
  The subsequent investigation revealed that missing of the web help output image files indicated is no longer in the view project HR under the Images. They were always present on the c: if displayed using the windows Explorer.
  
  Once one of the missing image files is linked using HR, other missing image files appear in the project view.
  
  
  This problem seems to occur after:
  
  1 periphery problems
  2. when the result has been the web help
  
  More curious, however, is that the HR project and the compiled output were all stored on my local hard drive that is NOT on a network drive.
  
  I used a folder in my documents to store the HR project and the compiled output. The compiled output was also performed on the local hard drive, not the network. We run IE7, but I observed similar problems under IE6.
  
  Which leave people:
  1 could avoid this in the future?
  2. has anyone out there had similar problems?
  
  So far, I've simplified the structure of the project with no record of dvide project but not subfolders. I'm also trying to flee Jean-Claude C:\directory etc under 'MY Documents'
  
  Please can someone help?

  Update on the situation...
  By happy coincidence, my HR crashed this afternoon while I had help 'project x' open!

  This meant that I could test a few things. When project x was compiled help web, surprise, surprise, missing graphics again.

  I then closed HR and made sure the CPD file for project x. I deleted the DPC draft x directory file. Following this I opened the project x HR again. I then compiled and all the graphics were back.

  In other words the cause of the problem proved quite peremptorily file CPD being corrupted by an event while this praticular project has been opened. As a further test, I opened and compiled a few other web projects that were not open at the time of the accident and they were fine with no missing graphics.

  In any case thanks a lot again for the advice.

  For anyone else reading this, I feel that using projects merged on a large aid system might be a good way to limit the damage to a great support system. In this way we work only on one segment at a time and if an event occurs the damage is limited to what was open at that time.
