• Need help with VMware Player to run!

  I've been using VMware Player 7.1 successfully for some time, but my drive hard host started making noise, so I installed a new SSD drive as drive C on the host computer.  My old hard drive installation was 8.1 for Windows 64-bit, but needed to be cleaned, so I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 64 bit on my new SSD for the host.  My guest OS (8.1 64-bit Windows) has been installed on drive E, then I'm not touching this player.  I then installed VMware Player 7.1 and all is well.  However, when I now run VMware Player 7.1 and try to open my (8.1 Windows 64-bit) guest OS, he says now that the Intel VT - x is disabled.  I've never touched the BIOS at all, but to check I went into the BIOS and Intel Virtualization is always on because it has been.  My system is a motherboard ASUS Sabertooth with an i7 processor and 16 GB of ram.

  So I rechecked everything in the BIOS and made sure the virtualization is enabled.  What else can I do to get VMware Player 7.1 running?  Help, please!

  It is indeed strange that there is a difference with no changes to the BIOS. In any case, other messages in the forums, it seems like some antivirus/end point protection applications can cause these issues (see, for example, binary translation is incompatible with the long mode). You have already installed this application?

  It might be interesting to see vmware.log from the virtual machine HARD disk.

• Help with Vmware Fusion & SBS 2011 Essentials; best practices

  Hi all

  Looking for a little help setting up a virtual machine on a Mac Pro to use as a server in a small business.

  We currently have an office of 6 users, all but one of which are windows users (XP and 7, although all soon to be upgraded to 7). Also, we have a Server SBS 2003 and until recently used it for storage of files, a database principal, Exchange and vpn. The server hardware has become very noisy to the point of this embarrassing other users in the room I'm looking to upgrade options.

  The machine I use now is a 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon with 10 GB of RAM and I'm looking for this move with the to use with the server I'll be swapping to a MBP 17 ". I installed a trial version of SBS 2011 Essentials on it and have successfully installed the main and used database from a client machine so I'm glad that everything will work. We went from the e-mail Exchange on Gmail, which is why Essentials is good enough for me.

  I'm stuck now with what to know how to set up the machine to integrate properly. I have a 250 GB boot currently installed with Snow Leopard disk and that you have ordered 2 x 1.5Tb hard drives I had planned mirror in OS X using disk utility. The plan was part of the 250 GB boot drive partition (say 100 GB) to use as a separate partiton on which to store virtual machines. The record 1.5 to had to be kept separate and used as a data reader.

  I'm not sure now, that's how all of them work with SBS 2011? Can I move forward as expected and share the drives through OS X (SL or Lion server) as a network share? If so, how it plays with windows clients? Can I use AD control connections or I end with a mixture of OD and AD (which would be an argument)

  Or should I install SBS 2011 on the disks of 1,5 to, spend the entire disk to SBS 2011 and treat sharing here?

  By train to these things is not a problem, it's just trying to understand what is the best solution for day-to-day management and backup.

  As I tried to move a virtual machine from one laptop to another (without it being fully saved, big mistake, I know now what very well), I moved the files by mistake and did not copy the files. The files that I moved, I deleted, thinking they were just copies that I went from using a USB key using google drive.  Oh I don't have the files on the USB key.  And that's where I was wrong.  In turn, I deleted 3 - files s00X.vmdk and virtual machine does not open on 10 VMworkstation. The error I get when I try to take back the machine is this:

  So I check my file to make sure that I have all the files. The 3 I have removed were the following:

  • pwk_vm-cl1-000001 - s001.vmdk

  My questions:

  Is there anyway that I can restart the machine with these deleted for good void vmdk files? Even if it's to a State previous/snapshot?  I have pwk_vm-cl1 - 000002.vmdk in pwk_vm-cl1 - 000011.vmdk files and all the appropriate sub files. I still have all the snapshots and vmsn, vmx, .vmem and vmsd for the vm files.

  
  

  I know it's totally my fault and my own fault. This virtual machine has been used for a course I took and have spent hours 150 + on, just to start the machine and retrieve my file of massive if possible note. You can provide any help would be greatly appreciated.  All of my current files are backed up, so I'm free to try various corrections, as appropriate. If you need additional file information, I can provide probably not.

  3 of these missing parts may contain a few Mbs 6Gbs or up to.
  If durinmg time you have written actively in these 3 files your Debian update grub and installed a new initrd, you will have a serious problem.
  But you used the autodestructible function I guess rather than these VMDK was rather smaller than completely filled.

  Get the virtual machine to start again is actually quite easy - write instructions to security however means more work.

  So, I think that setting remotely should not take much longer than 15 minutes. If you want to call me by Skype, so that we can arrange something.

  The virtual machine that you downloaded is just that, a virtual machine, not an executable. You need to install/run VMware Player or Workstation and run, and then open the virtual machine.

  Hello, I have a HP Pavilion g6-1a52nr Notebook PC (running Windows 7 64 bit) which is in a reboot loop. This happened after I installed VMWare Workstation 7 (in the installation process there is no occurs.but error after installing that I try to reboot the machine, and then the following error has occurred).
  Now whenever the notebook starts up, it seems to be in a reboot loop after the windows logo then get a blue screen.
  When I connect to the system using vmware safemode also working.but in normal mode it displays a blue screen after logiin screen shows.

  By turning on the restart automatic system failure off I was able to read it as the Blue error message that says:

  you have the HP-tools installed?
  They often conflict with VMware.

  I tried all listed in other postings, but our VSphere 4 server resides on a SQL server server.

  I tested the connection odbc with the SA password and it works, it rebooted several times now, tried to stop all services and bringing up one at a time, but whenever a dependency is not. I get this error in the system log, the VMware VirtualCenter Server service stopped with the error service special 2 (0x2).

  Reinstalling Windows XP to the factory setting would not be the first option.

  It is possible that some third-party programs or the services installed on the computer interfere with the installation of service pack 3.

  I tried to upgrade from 5.1 to 5.5u1 and he failed, Vcenter & Webclient installers have been crashing before you finish update

  So I decided to make a clone of my Vcenter and still have my production work while trying to update.

  I uninstalled everything for the webclient service that I had to clean files and registry entries manually, because he didn't find the uninstall program when I was clicking on uninstall.

  Running a program with vmware-the unit-helper is only a function on Linux hosts. We have had a few requests to add it to Windows hosts, but this isn't a feature on Windows now.
