high-speed image acquisition

I need to acquire images from a camera to ac2000-340 km from Basler with PCIe-1433 camera link interface. Rate is from 300 to 340 fps, but especially, I can't afford to drop any blocks or for the rate to fall because post-processing analysis requires a sequence of images Intec for accuracy. Data collection is necessary for 2-3 minutes, which gives about 50 000 images. The sensor of the camera is 2040 x 1088 pixels, but usually, I put the dimension y to 200 or 300 pixels because that fits the shape of the object, I'm Imaging.

I worked through the speed high Brent Runnels streaming ppt and decided I don't need to write to the disk. I'm glad collection all-in-memory, pushing the images in a queue (I use a computer for Win 7 64 bit with 32 GB of memory), then made and all the disk as a AVI file, afterwards. Using the following code almost works, but the rate has declined steadily and it is therefore unreliable; the slowdown seems to occur because creating the vi IMAQ is inside the loop.

If I use the other code below, in which all images are created prior to their collection, everything works fine, the rate is constant and no boxes are deleted. However, the first loop to create the large set of images IMAQ (reserve the memory for them?), takes several minutes to run (in particular for 50 000 images). (I'm only show the critical part of the code, the other parts of the sequence just remove the images and write the AVI file).

Any suggestions on how to more effectively do that?

Thank you

Mike Davis

  • Treatment of LabVIEW data and high speed data acquisition C

    Hi all

I am designing a data acquition VI high speed of 3 cards acquition of data at the maximum speed. Data cards are PCI 2517 Measurement Computing. The sampling frequency for each card is 1 M samples/second, if the total sample of M 3/second of three cards. Problem is the LabVIEW drivers and the screws provided by the provider works very well just for a single card at maximum speed, but does not support multiple cards at maximum speed. Their technical engineer advised me to write code in c#, C++ or VB.NET for this data acquition high speed. If I use C forever, I would like to use LabVIEW for processing of the acquired data to data acquisition. I came across a few examples that suggest the creation of dll C code and then calling it a LabVIEW. But those who have programs simple and none of them speak in C data acquisition. My questions are,

    1. is it possible to call a C data acquisition program high speed of labview and not work in any kind of present of buffer overflow?

2 would it not simple best to use labwindows CVI?

    3. is there another alternative solution that I'm missing?

    I'll appreciate all the entries.

    Thank you!

    Nilesh-

It's pretty easy.  Arguments for CINrun must match wiring.  You can wire your CIN function block and say LabView to generate the C interface code to begin.

  • acquisition of data high-speed and simultaneous sampling

I'm quite familiar with the coding for NOR-DAQ boards in Labview. What worries me with labview, is that each tick is about milliseconds. I intend to retrieve the data simultaneously from 32 channels at 2 MS/s/chan using SMU 6368 s. Wouldn't not possible to enter data, on average 20 to 50 samples to get a unique value, perform simple algebraic manipulations on it and send it to the PC / software to approximately tens of kHz? We already have labview code to perform similar tasks, but it is quite slow and limiting the rate of experience. I said that Simulink is slightly better than Labview in this regard, but suffers a poor user interface and that if something C/C++ offers the ability to perform at high speeds with the same cards OR data acquisition. Could someone advise me please on this issue?

You can use your PC! You can use a PCI/PCI-e card as the interface to your computer and it should work perfectly. Take a look at these pages (http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/10389) for more information.

  • WiFi unstable and slow Internet high speed

    Hello world:

Recently, I am facing a problem of unstable wifi, slow speed of the internet of my macbook pro. I hope someone could help me with my problem.

    Symptom:

Internet mainly speed just unstable using a wifi connection. (no problem with wifi connection self and my wifi suddenly grave would not be)

    Example:

    • FaceTime with my friends and the connection would suddenly abandon or images & audio gets fuzzy.
    • Videos in online streaming and suddenly occurs buffering.
    • Download file of software update iPhone via iTunes, the speed is slow, he needed to take 2 h at the end and later on a window display "cannot download and check your internet connection".
    • Suddenly cannot open websites like site apple.com, google.com. Sometimes it will take more time to open Web sites.

    Hardware and software:

MacBook Pro mid-2009, OS X EL Capitan 10.11.5

    ISP: Cox, 50Mbps

    Modem & router: Netgear N450

    Test:

Turn off my wifi and connect my macbook pro with modem & router with cable, internet high speed is stable and fast. Internet speed download speed test result display is of around 60Mbps, download speed is around 8Mbps. And I tried streaming using the connection cable, there was no buffering.

I already tried the possible Solutions:

    • Restart the Macbook pro and restart Modem & router: will not work. I mean the internet will be very well at first, but later would be unstable again.
    • Reset Wireless Modem & router and change channels: useful, but not completely solve the problem. After you change the wireless channel, I tested my internet speed and the result showing 20-40Mbps (slower than 60mbps) speed download. Sometimes, the result will be like 6-8Mbps and sometimes it will be 60Mbps. If its unstable.
    • Wireless diagnosis: result indicates connection is good.
    • Called my ISP provider: they checked and said all right.

    Other Questions & details:

    • The internet is ok for most of the time. But when all of a sudden I can't open site or I can't download and streaming & FaceTime at normal speed, his frustration.
    • I thought it might be related to my hardware since its an old macbook pro. I can't run Apple hardware test because I don't have the installation disc more and my macbook pro is very old. Is it a third party software that can perform the test hardware on mac?
    • My wifi used to be very stable and I don't have to worry. Just for these last two weeks.

I really appreciate your time and help! Looking forward to any reply!

  • Problems initializing digitizer card high speed

I recently built a new computer for data acquisition.  I had all the questions according to a program for the acquisition of data for a digitizer high speed written in LabWindows 8.5 and it works successfully with LabWindows 9.0 on the new machine.  The only problem I encountered was name the digitizer card high speed max the appropriate name of the resource planned by the data acquisition program.  Everything went very well for 4 days.  Today, I try to run the same program and cannot enforce.  Debug code indicates that the device fails to initialize when niScope_init() is called.

In MAX passes card scanner that can call a test and I have test panels and see an input signal.  I checked the name of the device to ensure that it matches the named resource that provides the program.  I also reset the device to the MAX and then tried to run the program.  None of these attempts succeeded.

I can't really find anything that changed between the last time I ran the program and today.  Everybody to face this problem in the past, and is at - it solution or a proposed additional troubleshooting?

This problem has been resolved by reinstalling the drivers for our digitizer high speed.  I have still no idea why after four days, something happened to the original driver installation.

  • Urgent problem! Help, please. digitizer high-speed, too long channel switching time!

Dear all experts of digitizer high-speed OR:

I have a question about the two channel configuration using NI5154 digitizer (see need help to set up an acquisition of two channels using NI5154).

As we need to make a measurement with NI5154 purchase very soon so a suggested by Efrain such DAQ card is not an option for our next experience. So, I'm trying to configure the NI5154 acquisition of two channels. I have set up the NI5154 to count impulses to both channels. Our experimental set-up will send impulses to channel 0 to 400 ms, then stop. 100 ms later pulses from another source will be sent on the channel 1 to 2 s.  I thought that the dead time of 100ms in our configuration would be long enough for the digitizer switch between channel 0 channel 1. But after some testing, I found that the digitizer takes longer to switch between channels.

I did a test vi (NISCOPE - Timing.vi) just for the ms count how much it takes to the digitizer switch between channels. In the vi attached, if you run only one channel for a loop takes about 20 ms in my pc. If you run for the two channels, there are about 130 ms for a single loop. If you run a dual channel from the time of the loop is about 40 ms (I mean stop a channel and then re-run the channel).

I don't understand why it takes so long to switch from channel 0 channel 1.  As I have tested the niScope Commit.vi consumes a lot of time for the second string. Is it possible to avoid this? We cannot extend the time-out for a long time of 100ms of series up so I have to get rid of this problem.

  • Capture high speed encoder data

    Hello

I have a motion control project where I would record the position data. High speed capture is limited with sampling frequency of 2 kHz. But I have to save a lot more than higher speed.

I read that there is another option that connects to the motion control card (I use a card PCI-7358) and the map of data acquisition using a RTSI cable and channels A and B of the routing of the data acquisition card encoder using the RTSI lines.

I have 6143 and 6280, 7358 PCI DAQ cards and a RTSI cable.

Q1. Which card is better to use? 6143 or 6280?

Q2. When I look at the examples, I have seen that its possible to phase has the traffic and signals of the phase B of an encoder for the RTSI line with Signal Select.vi. But I couldn't find an example on how to read of DAQ card.

Q3. How can I contact the encoder position phase has and band B pulses which is acquired from the DAQ cards?

    Concerning

    Hi serkanb,

The 6143 has no support for measures of encoder quadrature (although you can run a task of count of edge and use the B signal as a line up/down to get a similar effect).  If you are interested, we'll find more information here (the 6143 uses the same SC I ASIC that make the E Series DAQ devices).

It doesn't really matter too much since you have a 6280 that supports quadrature encoder measures (he uses the STC II ASIC).  To answer your direct questions:

Q1.  The 6280 is better (see above)

Q2.  You need to use a channel DAQmx property node to choose what terminals to use for your task of encoder:

Q3.   I would like to start with an example of the expedition:

Help > find examples... > input and output material > DAQmx > counter measures > Position > measurement Position.vi

You insert the property node before starting the task (but after the channel is created).

I hope this helps, if you have any questions do not hesitate to post back!

  • zbook u15: fan at high speed after installed windows 10

Yesterday, I updated to windows 7 pro for windows 10 pro.  I have rarely heard my fan in windows 7 and only when I was cad or had a large number of open images.  With 10 windows, my fan is at high speed all the time.

    Suggestions?

    Ok

Found two programs running that caused the fan to high speed.

One was post 2012 31% of the processor chips

    other was

AlertusDesktop or 32% of the processor.

E-mail private, removed the Alertusdesktop for now and normal operation.

  • Blocks the execution of the user Image Acquisition interface

I am currently trying to create a user interface that displays images from a camera attached to a microscope with a mobile table.  The user is able to interact with the images and can click on them, which causes the table to move to a new location.  Acquisition is made by calling a DLL, the DLL grey flycapture point camera, using a call library function node.

When I acquire images at 15 frames per second, it has no problem with user input.  However, when I drop the acquisition at 2 frames / second (necessary if you need to have the exposure time), labview seems to take a break from the user interface while the image acquisition is underway.  Interaction of the UI seems possible in the holes between the image acquisitions.

I'm sure that this is happening because there is a kind of blocking going on here.  The program is waiting for the new image to be returned and will not not something else happen while he waits.  I have image acquisition running in a separate, called function from a higher level, VI, which puts the image data in a global variable (I know I know... global variables).  When I need to display the image, I read of the global variable and display it on my form of user interface.

I think I need to run things in separate threads to avoid the problems that I have because I have a dependency that is the cause of blocking.  I'm looking for any suggestions on how I can the architect this.  I have thought about using a VI server to launch the acquisition of the camera and will try to implement this, but I wonder if there is another method that I'm missing here.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  I use LabVIEW 8.6 on a Windows 7 machine indeed.  I do not use LabVIEW image acquisition module.

    Thank you

    Hey Gerry,.

It's Paul in Ministry here at National Instruments engineering applications. What Paul was referring to a call library function node configuration properties. If you right-click on the node library function call you can click on configure and you should see a window that looks like the image below.

As you can see, you have the option to select run this library in the UI thread or any thread. This is important because there is only a single user interface thread. Therefore, deadlocks can occur when the code is written in parallel, but operations are both occurring in the UI thread. What results is a part of the code has to wait that the other part at the end and so the lock upwards in the user interface. The reason why the call library function node is set to run in the default UI thread is now, because only the security thread functions can be performed in any thread. So before you change this configuration it is strongly recommended that you check that the functions you call are thread-safe. You can also check which configuration, the node library function call is in the color of the node itself. If it is an orange color which means that it is set to run in the UI thread. If it is a pale yellow color, it is set to run in any thread. Let me know if you have any other questions!

  • NEITHER 9213 changing high resolution at high speed. Screenshots included.

    Hello

I have a card 9213 in a CRIO-9074. My sampling rate is exactly 1 s/s, which means that it is running in mode high resolution. However when I go in the project window and change it to high speed (as indicated below)...

nothing happens. Remainders of 1 s sampling rate / s. below you can see my labview vi, which is a timed loop. The period can be changed in the loop is only how many samples I trace on the graph. And as you can see on the graph to 100ms graphic flatlines as the 9213 is not updated of its value.

Below you can see the record of the following data and it shows that the sample time is exactly 1 s/s.

So, how can I actually get my 9213 OR change of 1 s/s mode high resolution at the 75 s/s, that it is rated for mode high speed. For this initial Setup, I use only 1 thermocouple, but once I get the included sample rate I'll add more. It should also be noted that I rebooted the computer and the Committee for the acquisition of data several times.

    Thank you.

I noticed that in your project beside the cRIO, he says "in time real features not available."  According to another thread, I found, it was because the module time real wan not properly installed:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/FieldPoint-family/real-time-features-not-available/m-p/954231

Also, when I recreate your project settings, if I right click on the 9213 module I the ability to "Deploy" or "deploy all.  Deployment is expected to update the settings.

  • Vision image acquisition

I have image acquisition via a USB camera to a 12 speed.  The problem I have is to save these images.  If I save these images while acquiring data, the program cannot keep up at this rate.  I need a way to get images to 120 and then save them once the acquisition completed.  I tried to build a table, but it doesn't seem to work (the issue is when I have the array index, I do not get out images).  Any suggestions on this approach or maybe a different approach to achieve this.

    Thank you.

    Hey, gene,

Guess IMAQ Vision + IMAQ USB was used.

The typical error is grouping table of images IMAQ. Do not forget, that the IMAQ image passed as reference, not the image itself. This means, the following code will not work as you expect:

What you need is the following. You must create your buffers before acquisition, then acquire each image in the own buffer:

    It will be useful,

    Andrey.

  • How do I know if a 2.0 port usb is high-speed?

I'm pretty computer, but I don't have the slightest idea how to ensure that the port is high speed. Unfortunately, my top at 54 Mbps Wireless, even if I'm only 60' with a direct line of sight. [Personal information]
    any help really appreciated.

The motherboard plug for your State to fund it has usb 2.0 ports.

USB 2.0 was released in April 2000, by adding a higher maximum of signaling called speed of 480 Mbit/s TGV. These ports are usually black or white.

In 2008, USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed) and it has a maximum ports SuperSpeed 5 Gbps signaling rate. have a SS logo near them.

In the PC that I use for this type, I have a usb Linksys Cisco 802.11 adapter connected. He's using my router 802.11 KT his internet connection. Even if the adapter and router are capable 802.11 ac, the maximum bandwidth that I see is slightly less than yours, as shown in the following image.  If I connect to the router with a CAT5 cable I see 90 MB/s.

  • I butwhen high speed high, I use the webcam on any video chat my signature programs is blurred

I am deaf and use webcam to Sin with other people on Skype or other video programs... have fabulous high speed cable and another my video phone, I look on and no blur effect but when I use the webcam and I use the language signs my hands become blurred, even though I have great high speed? How can I fix the webcam so that the image is fine and not blurred when I connect?

    Hello

    ·         What is the brand and model of the webcam?

    ·         If it works well before? If so, were there recent changes made on the computer before the show?

Follow these steps and check if that helps.

    Step 1:

There is usually a ring or something raised around the lens. try adjusting the focus of the webcam. Consult the manual of the webcam or visit their support site.

    Step 2:

I suggest to find the latest driver/software for webcam on the manufacturer's Web site and install it on the computer.

Uninstall and reinstall the webcam from the Device Manager:

    a. open the Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click Run, type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER.
    b. in the list of USB devices or imaging devices locate the webcam and make a right click on it and then click on uninstall.
    c. restart the computer and re-install the driver software.

    Step 3:

Sometimes the setting the webcam may be incorrectly, you may need to change the settings and check if it helps. You can go to thought that the manual either to get in touch with the webcam or the manufacturer of the system for more support.
