    Hello

We have 20 units of Elitedesk 800 G1 SFF; running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  One unit, an intermittent problem.

Use Shutdown of Windows, the computer turns off.  Some time later, during the night, it turns back on.

Interesting note: we have a power-password set in the BIOS and turning on the results of the computer at a password prompt.  When this unit restarts randomly, it seems to bypass the password and goes directly to screen ctrl alt del to log into Windows.

I tried to turn off all "wake" options I find for the NIC, the mouse, the BIOS settings and even tried the registry to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon «PowerdownAfterShutdown» hack

The BIOS, Chipset are updated, as are all the other drivers offered by HP.

I witnessed the restart once - I stopped, looked at the front of the computer, all the lights were out, and it restarted.  I had not touched a thing.  Of course, I him didn't restart like that in front of me again. :-\

  • Skype outgoing call is busy

For the last 2 hours, whenever I'm trying to call my boyfriend he automatically says he is busy and the call ends, even if its status is online and he was not in a call to someone else.

We all have two version 6.22.81.105 and prior to that with the version 6.18.0.105. I even tried to call him from Skype on my phone and it didn't work.

In addition, others have tried to call it but it's the same thing for them.

Is there any solution for this? The only thing that worked was him restart his fast internet and call me immediately, but if he hangs up then occupied problem again.

A solution would be greatly appreciated.

Well, we have downgraded to 6.18.0.106 and it seems to work fine now.

I'm glad it works, but a fix for newer versions would be appreciated.

    Peacelily,

I'd love to connect to eliminate the account - except - I don't know what password etc, she managed to get his hands on & with TI - I'm dead in the water! After more than 12 hours of frustration in dealing with this - including HP support - I got it. Taken technology to throw the whole system and start again. Good enough for a computer bought Wednesday am & dumped Fri! The kitten is fine - my mood is painfully tense. I would put him in the House of the dog with the exception of this factor formidable "kindness". Guess I'll call the problem solved

  • The pool management and quality Service

I've had problems with HP for over 2 years now. The first laptop, they have replaced and gave me a 8570p Elitebook that they new was not good and gave to a member of the family of the same model. I have had problems with it, run hot and fingerprints from December 2013 and open a file. Tech was released in January and replaces fan and then the numeric keypad now works sometimes. Tech said needed to order parts most never heard talk about him again. They sent an email saying they have closed the case without being fixed pc. I called and had another one opened and got a case manager very rude who called and chatted with me for two days telling me he would give me a same unit renovated, it take or leave. He told me that nobody will do better than that even though I have the extended warranty and care Pak. I told her no but my family members had problems and did not have all of the warranty and they gave him a new one as a replacement for 8770w. I continued to try to work with tech and they will call him each week saying that they have an appointment and no one does or call. Mind you, this has happened since December 2012 and it is the end of February 2014 and my pc has not yet been set. I work from my pc as a business and may not have that going. Then they tell me that we cannot replace because it was given to you in 2011 and I have documentation I received in 2012 at HP and they don't judge. They say it's still too old. It's not my fault for your product. I was treated very brutally and been put on hold and they are standing by their product. I'm not recommending them or buy from them. They have these foreign people who do not in any ways whatsoever and they call it management and customer service. HP is not going to pay my salary is their pc as a last shutsdown I did. If you can replace it for one person, then you must replace for all.

This is NOT official HP customer service and I, like most other people on this forum do not work for HP. It is a forum for users of peer-to-peer supported for class for the HP consumer products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Response of an employee of HP represents his own opinion and not that of HP.

  • Even with valid proof, Microsoft does not honor the warranty on mice...

A few years ago, I bought a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical mouse pack with a computer/electronics provider online. Earlier this year, one of the left button of the mouse started to act up, but since it is intermittent, I decided to just deal with it since I've had a lot of time left on my warranty (I use these mice for many years, sometimes a little at a time - and know that the standard warranty is 5 years). Recently, the mice had got much worse than the left button of the mouse clicks several times, even if you press only once.

I called Department order Microsoft to present my possible replacement warranty.  After faxing my Bill, I received a call from a person I think of their dept of guarantee saying that the mouse is no longer under warranty and I wasn't eligible for support. I asked him how this is possible, and I was told that the warranty for the Intellimouse Optical is 3 years and I bought this mouse 3.5 years ago. I was speechless. I told the representative that the guarantee for the Intellimouse Optical mouse have been for 5 years, but he denied it and insisted on the warranty for 3 years only. I asked him if this policy had changed recently, but he said no and that he has always been 3 years. I got the box for another separate intellimouse optical sitting in my desk drawer, but did not find any mention of the warranty printed on the outside, as they did. Quickly, I went to the site of Microsoft for the Intellimouse Optical support and found the following PDF that shows clearly that the warranty of 5 years were the Intellimouse Optical mouse:

    ---------------------
    http://download.Microsoft.com/download/3/B/5/3B54A015-3714-4BFF-8BF0-003BA0B15F5C/X17-31699-02_EN_XC_FR_EL_IW_IT_PT_ES.PDF

"IntelliMouse® Optical; Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer; Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth; "Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer with fingerprint reader: five 5 years.
    -----------------------

He took over after having informed the rep of this, there was nothing he could do and kept insisting it was 3 years according to its documentation. I asked him to take a look at the Microsoft Web site as it shows registered 5 years warranty but it does not seem to care. I asked to speak to a Manager or other agent, but he wouldn't let me not and told me that they told me the same thing... it was 3 years. After pleading with him again to check the site, he hung up on me!

I could not believe. I called back that MS order dept to express this frustrating experience. When I spoke to a different representative in the Department of the order, he said according to its documentation, the guarantee for the intellimouse optical mouse included in over 3 years. I asked how that was possible, given that on the Microsoft Web site, they list the guarantee for 5 years. I asked the rep if I could find my warranty booklet that came with my mouse would take a glance on this case and he said that would be fine. I spent last night wading through boxes and boxes but could not find these documents.

Fortunately, I remembered the cd of the software provided with the mouse. So I decided to check the software disk intellimouse for information on warranty and there is a RTF file included on the disc (fra.rtf) which States:

    -----------------------
IntelliMouse Optical; Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer; Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth; Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer with fingerprint reader: five 5 years

This file is available on the Microsoft Web site at:
    http://download.Microsoft.com/download/2/7/8/278BFC91-3E3F-4784-BCF6-2D9418722CCE/MSHWEULAWARRANTY/Eng.RTF
    -------------------------

Also if you have intellipoint software installed on your computer, you can see that the mouse is covered for 5 years.

Open the quick start guide which is installed with the program > "Need help" icon > click Microsoft Device User Guide pointing > go to legal Information > and then to the end user LICENSE AGREEMENT and LIMITED WARRANTY.

    -------------------------
On this page under LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY, he said:
MICROSOFT POINTING DEVICE: IntelliMouse Pro; IntelliMouse with IntelliEye; IntelliMouse Optical; Trackball Explorer; and Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer GUARANTEE: 5 years
    -------------------------

    In addition,
If you go to the newegg and search the IntelliMouse (suspended), it will show you the warranty of the manufacturer being listed at 5 years.
If you go to amazon and look at the pictures of products, there is a downloaded by a client that displays printed on the box of 5 years.

So with all this evidence, why Microsoft refuses to honor their warranty and tell me it's only 3 years old when it was announced that 5? I'm angry, the first agent I spoke would not do any kind of attempt to validate the correct warranty period even if there is evidence published on the Microsoft Web site (not to mention hang up on me).

As a consumer and a supporter, I am very disappointed by Microsoft with this incident. Even trying to contact the correct service to explain the situation has been extremely difficult. (After the call back to the Microsoft technical support this morning, I was redirected to another Department that took me to an answering machine.) At this point, I'm not even concerned with getting a replacement/refund for my mouse - just a real apology and an explanation as to why the warranty dept and consumers receive contradictory sets of information. It's the principle of the thing. I don't think that someone at Microsoft would accept their facts could possibly hurt or out of their way to find the correct information even if the evidence is posted above (several times) on their OWN Web site for all to see.

A big thank you to Matthew and Josh for helping me to finally solve this problem. I'm tired, but I'm grateful. Thank you Microsoft!

  • I just had a phone call from microsoft/windows technical help

I feel so stupid that I fell for this but I don't

so my not very different history of all these other... Indian guy asked all week saying he needed emergency talk to me on the serious malicious virus on my computer. He said it was from Microsoft technical and necessary support about half an hour of my time. I asked him to ring back several times because with young children, it was never the right time. Anyway, he called again this morning and I thought I had better address this issue as it sounded quite serious, it sounded very authentic for me and in my mind, I thought that somebody to call me every day this week, he must be who he is, he said.  so he took me through a website (I think it was logmein123) and asked me to enter a code and said that his colleague would then control my computer.  which she did, all the time the guy was on the end of the phone explaining what she was doing.  She presented as andrea williams from the Manchester direction! She then spent over the next 40 minutes on my computer. towards the end the guy says ok we have identified as you can see (I could see some sort of thing report on my computer at this point) we found quite a few mistakes - we can fix these for you. OK, I said. Andrea williams then says I have to download to your computer one of these options (it then lists the 4 different but recommend the 4th option at a cost of £289 I foolishly said okay.)  a form then appeared on my computer asking for my card details name address date of birth ect - what I have briefed (BTW im currently hitting my head on the table where I'm writing this at my stupidity!)  Fortunately my beautiful Bank was on the ball and refused a payment. This was the point that they have began to have a bit narky with me.  the guy said he was going to pass me to andrea from Manchester who would talk to me in person to try to settle this payment. me thinking that I was going to talk to someone with a manchester accent... don't be stupid... .i started talking to another very Indian lady who was very rude and very impatient with me. then she said to me (Yes told me) do to ring my Bank while it took place on the line to address this issue. It was then I thought no Ive has had enough and finally, alarm bells began to ring! (all right all right I recently had two children, you know)
!). I told him that I would call the Bank later. reluctantly, she said ok, but said she'd call me in an hour - I said all that. It's then the strange thing happened - I tried to disconnect my computer, but it forced somehow back to and typed a message saying that please let me connected disconnect.  I typed a message and said you have learned to be pleasant and able to stop everything. then (the storys stops not here oh no) it sounds me only true to his word back an hour the second later. and said - have you talked to your bank. I said yes. What did say, she said. I said, that they said that you are a crook. at this point she just freaked out at me. told me that I needed psychiatric help. so I said, and you have to find a good job and stop robbing the people hard earned money there. then she said something quite scary. She said you wait awhile and just see what we are capable of... I hung up and then cause a chill went down my spine.
Sorry to go on and give you every little detail but despite jokes he really shake me and I hope that warn you other people that these people are horrible and won't stop not stalking you until they get what they want, even when they have been rumbled. they have no scruples or even care about their effects on people.  They you in real, and they are completely credible.  After the call I informed fraud action (UK) the 03001232040 that gives you a reference of crime and pass information to the police. I was also advised to get a reputable company computer to look at the computer where they left any damage to the computer.
can someone advise in the meantime if I need to do anything with regard to my computer, like most I'm now worried that they have endangered the security of my computer. also can they get on my computer once again without knowing me.

Suggest you read the following: http://ask-leo.com/i_got_a_call_from_microsoft_and_allowed_them_access_to_my_computer_what_do_i_do_now.html

When I insert my SIM card, and I turn on the cell phone, the network said 'Rogers Wireless - Fido' with the itinerant triangle next to him.

Hello and welcome to the community!

You must check if your BB is unlocked or not... see this:

If, for example, your BB is locked to Rogers, then when you try to use a Fido SIM, it might have to run via the Rogers network to get Fido. Or, if Fido has coverage where you are, it may have to wander on Rogers for Fido.

Regarding billing, you must talk to Fido or Rogers.

    Good luck!
