  I have HP Pavilion ZV5325 with windows XP. When I start the computer with the battery power only everything seems to be okay. When I plug the charger (HP part #316688-001 power AC) start of the Welcome screen comes on, but when the desktop appears that the screen turns off after a few seconds. The computer is still following this timje, but with a white screen.

  ·        Happens before? Since when are you facing this problem?

  I suggest to reset the power of the system options and check whether the problem is resolved. Follow the steps mentioned below.

  a. click on Start menu and click Run.

  b. type cmd in the run box, and then press ENTER.

  c. type the command which is given below.

  powercfg /RestoreDefaultPolicies

  I suggest you to update the BIOS and see if the problem is resolved.

  all advice appreciated.

  I had a Satellite Pro L20 for about 18 months. Recently, battery does not charge when the power adapter is connected. The battery light starts yellow (which means more liberated, I think?), then will both green, the machine sat for awhile. However the ACPI often said that AC is "offline."

  There are two recent occurrences that coincide with this problem, I try to eliminate:

  1. my friends rat chewed by the feeder for pets! Power is Mobile OK insofar as he fled sector - the rat seems to have simply chewed by the outer cover (I see some threads, but I think that is just a shield, although I'm not an electrician).

  2. I put the laptop in hibernation for the first time. That seemed to mess up the system a bit, which was what initially drew my attention to the problem. This question is a bit complicated because I'm under Linux (Xubuntu).

  I updated the drivers etc from windows when I bought the laptop. Never had any problems until now and have been running linux for centuries. Also, I have mainly the laptop the power supply turned off, but do not remove the battery (is that really a problem these days?)

  I obviously need to replace the adapter, but is - it is likely (and how I can check) that the battery was borked until?

  First, please check if the other are lit.
  If the AC led and power led are on the adapter sector is ok and it provides the power to the laptop.

  If the battery LED is yellow, this means that the battery is not fully charged and if the Green led changes then recharging is caught and the battery has been recharged.

  So I really don t see any problems with the charge process.

  Maybe the battery is old and so you cannot use it for an extended in such a case only the replacement of the battery could help.

  So have you contacted already technicians again? You must tell them that the problem is still not resolved and it must be another reason for this problem. Then get in touch with technicians again to clarify this issue.

  Have you connected external devices while laptop is turned off?
  -Online if yes remove each of them.

  Load default settings in the BIOS?
  -Online if it is not this. Enter in the BIOS, and then press the F9 key to load defaults.

  Otherwise, it would be time to service as I have already written. It must be a nuisance material

  Then, you click on change the power plan settings

  New window would be open where you will find an extra option called change advanced power settings

  For me it sounds like a hardware failure of the motherboard if the AC/DC adapter is plugged and the laptop is turned on

  When I connect the power cable for my toshiba satellite a300, it stops immediately. I can use it on battery normally without any problems.
  When I boot in safe mode, it works fine without any problems with the AC adapter plugged into the laptop.

  Can you use it for laptop with AC power only when the battery is removed?
  If so, boot up your laptop and when the operating system is loaded to put battery inside, wait a few minutes and disconnect the power supply.
  Plug it in again and let us know if the same thing will happen again.

  My Pavilion 6500 (specifically dv6623cl) turns off when I plug in the power adapter. If I plug it in, then turn on the laptop, it automaticly turns off before loading windows.   Talk to a jury of uselles / forum, do those who seek info on how to reset / bypass the bios password on their (or anyone elses) computer or something as it gets 20 pages of answers, but asking a power / card issue and your luck if you get a response at all,

  I'll just give up to deal with this useless community and just buy 3 extra batteries and remind all of the accused

  I have a HP Envy Sleekbook m6 and just today I realized after plugging in the power adapter tge screen woul go completely black. I can hear the cell phone still in market, but I don't see anything.   Thank you for the information. I suggest you go to Device Manager and right click on your graphics card and update was from there. Here is a document of Manager of devices for Windows 8 information which has steps for the error codes you get.

  I am also including this document for an Overview of the switchable graphics or Dual GPU that explains what they are and how they work.

  As long as the laptop is running off the battery voltage, it works perfectly.
  The moment where that I plug in the power adapter, it crashes. If the laptop is turned off, the adapter can be plugged in and it will charge the battery as usual.
  The adapter was traded with a new unit and this has not solved the problem.

  I agree. Seems to be a problem with the motherboard because new AC adapter didn't solve this problem.
  Maybe something wrong with the DC IN jack
  On the other hand, there must be something wrong with the party that would be detected by the POST (power on self-test) because it affects the system and force the laptop to close

  I put t see other solutions as to get in touch with a local Mobile ASP technician and to check the mobo, I think it should be replaced if it s the value case because the mother board is not a party at low prices

  I own a Satellite L20 laptop and when I take the power cord out of my L20 and power to the battery on a strange sound high tone appears when I put my ear on the heat sink and can be heard normally.

  I don't know if you can hear the sound, as I do, when to do as you described, but this noise is coming from the CPU, when your phone is inactive or sous-travaille.

  Have it on my computer Toshiba no as well and everything I read that there is nothing to worry about and normally, you does not recognize.
