History a catalog between volume of sharing folders?

Setup: I worked on my 'Volume A' images in the past.

I set up just a pair of disks 1.5 to inside of my workstation (MacPro) and now have the same series of images, "Volume A", on one of the new internal drives. One of the new disks, 'Volume B' will now be my player 'work' to continue my editing on.

Question: I want that history States AND my snapshots from the images that I had edited using 'Volume A' as my work drive is visible in history and snapshots ("Volume B") windows new drive '- Details exactly as they exist when I look back at history and snapshots of A Volumerendered! Is it possible for me to do this w/Lightroom 2?

Now things:

( 1) in the "Volume A" history and snapshot windows I see all my details of mounting of the drive (original)...

( 2) whereas in the News ("Volume B") story reader and snapshot windows I don't see that the import of today (in the historical Panel) and 'Import', 'import 2' in the Snapshots Panel. It's NOT what I want to see. I want to see exactly what I, had made in windows history and snapshots of the original volume work! (I often go in back-and-forth between past history has weeks or months later, to experiment more, and then save the new pictures that I revisit work.)

Any easy (or bypassed) fix to this?

Thanks in advance, mm

It is a confusing request to me.

You want the story in both places? So, somehow, you can work on Volume B, and at other times to work on the Volume? I have a problem with this idea, it does not make sense to me.

If I understand you correctly (and I'm not sure I understand you correctly), you want to copy your catalog of Volume for Volume B file, not to import new photos on Volume B. Original photos must be in both places, just the catalog file. This will give you access to your photos on the two volumes... via LR and then keep synchronized is an exercise that I leave to you, because I do not really think about the complexity of this.

But, if you "often go back-and-forth between the history States several weeks or months later, to experiment more and then save new snapshot", you need only one catalog on a single Volume to do. Trying to recreate the configuration of your whole on Volume B is the solution "killing an Ant with a nuclear bomb.

  • Sharing catalogs between Windows and OSX LR4

I recently started using Lightroom 4 and was disappointed that I was unable to share my catalog between Windows and OSX as I could with LR2 and 3. The structure of the files has changed somehow? I mainly use a Windows computer at home, but when I travel, I have a MacBook Pro with the Mac of the LR4 version. All of my photos and catalogs are stored on a USB 3.0 external HARD drive. Although load catalog on a Mac shows all of my folders as question marks. It seems that Windows reads the disc as an indicator of the letter, ex. D:\ and OSX it reads as a volume. Used to before that this was not a problem. Does anyone know in a different way, I can get this to work specifically with this program. I already know that I can just download Boot Camp on my mac and run it like this.

I think I found the answer to my own question. The catalogs that I have problems with were created with beta versions LR4. I just created a catalog using LR4 4.3 and loaded on the Win and perfectly good OSX. Hope this helps if anyone wants to try this out.

My simple home network of 2 PCs with XP, SP3 and a Netgear WNDR3700 router was working fine. I changed ISP and now cannot get the home network to the top. • E1000 wireless. Sharing folders on the network

    Hello

Until yesterday my two PC can share files/folders.

    Then everything stopped.

What is an adjustment to this router?

    Thank you.

This is the first time I had this problem.
But I guess that's why the first FAQ RCN starts with, 'How to reset Cable Modem'.
A few months ago, I went to the Internet of the MRC. In the process of the MRC gave me a new CISCO/Linksys router and an ARRIS TM602G modem.

Years my Linux PC has successfully shared files/folders with my Windows 7 PC. And my Windows 7 PC the files/folders shared with my Linux system. I use samba. A few weeks ago, I bought a WD TV Live Media Player to Watch Streaming videos from my computer on my TV. It worked, too. The WD TV Live Media Player Streaming has been able to browse shared folders on my Windows 7 PC and Linux.

Two days ago my WD external drive, which was attached to my Linux box is no longer in effect.
Then, I rebooted the Linux machine with the connected external hard drive.
But my Linux PC did not start.
Anyway, I don't know why my PC wouldn't start simply because a broken external drive has been connected via USB.
So, I disconnected the external drive of the computer and restarted Linux.

Then, I joined the WD external drive to my PC Windows 7 to try to run the diagnostics from WD of Windows. But, the WD external drive was not recognized by Windows 7, so I rebooted the PC Windows 7. Unfortunately, Windows 7 PC will not start with the connected external WD drive. Once, I unplugged the external box WD Drive Windows 7 started very well.

But, after starting, I realized file sharing between my Linux box, Windows 7 and WD TV Live Streaming Media Player stopped.
My Linux box could still ping 7 box and vice versa. And both could navigate on the Internet.
But, neither able to browse shared files/folders more. And the WD TV Live Streaming Media Player lost the ability to connect to a machine.

So, these last two days I tried to understand where my configurations samba got screwed upward.
I tried different routers and went crazy in the process.

I knew that nothing had changed on my PC. But, simply because I assumed that nothing has changed does not mean that I'm right.

Finally, after I got back from work, I spent 3 hours keeps my troubleshooting and decided to browse the MRC Web site. The first FAQ was titled 'How to reset Cable Modem' and I thought, 'couldn't hurt. Thus, after the reset of the modem everything works.

    Thank you for your help.

  • How to force the shared folders to work?

I have Windows 10 host and guest OS Windows 7. I have Visual Studio is installed on Windows 7 comments, and I'm trying to compile code that is located in the shared folders that I go up as network drive.

When I try to do this with Visual Studio 2013, library file contains all zeros (binary, I see it in hex editor). It's a bug of folder for sure, because otherwise (no folders) compilations is OK.

Is it possible to fix this bug and force the shared folders to do what they promised, i. e. to share files between the host and the guest operating system and do not write all zeros in the output file?

    Hello

Not really, these types of problems hit the option files shared for many years.

Workshares of files for simple file sharing, but if you want to use as the project file in Visual Studio, then what you see is not really surprising.

Yes you can troubleshoot it and spent a lot of time trying to make it work. Which may or may not work.

However, the General recommendation is to use industry standard file sharing shares - for example native Windows - instead of construction option of share if you want to use for this type of scenario.

A common alternative is to develop locally within the virtual machine and share it with other computers using source control systems.

  • Bug report: strange behavior with sharing folders Mac & PHP require (8 VMware)

    I'm using VMware Fusion 8.0.0 (2985594) on Mac OS Yosemite (10.10.5 (14F27)) and I have a Linux VM with Debian Wheezy (3.2.0 - 4-amd64) and PHP (5.4.41 - 0 + deb7u1).

After I've upgraded from VMware Fusion 7 WMware Fusion 8, the (open source CMS) Typo3 on my development machine began to throw PHP syntax errors during playback of its cache files. As I investigated the problem I found that the behavior is reproducible, but only when the files are written to the folder that is shared between the host system and the VM.

When I'm demanding a PHP a certain file size and a certain name of file, PHP seems to continue reading about the end of the file in the middle of the arbitrariness of other files. This leads mainly to errors in syntax PHP - but according to the name of the file that they differ, for example:

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '' in require284.php on line 93
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '' in require107.php on line 88
^[[APHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'p' in require472.php on line 88
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in require884.php on line 88
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'u' in require185.php on line 89

All of these errors are generated by requiring the same content with different file names. If I am demanding the same file with the same name, the PHP error is also the same.

    Steps to reproduce

I wrote a PHP script that seeks a different file names for a given text, until it crashes. Store this file in the shared folder and run it with php f. As you can see, all the content of the file is commented out, so it shouldn't affect anything.

This problem occurs only for the upgrade of VMware 8 and only when the script runs in the shared folders, I strongly suspect that it is a problem within the VMware stack.

Can anyone elso reproduce this behavior?

    Hello

If you use the kernel of an open-vm-tools HGFS customer then yes there are bugs because the version provided with that was broken and not tested. People has not listened to my complaints about it.

Current recommended approach is to always use the installation of VMware tools for the shared folders feature.

Open-vm-tools are used to install tools user mode only. We try to make all of the features available with these, including a file sharing client FUSE based. Version 10 of the open-vm-tools will have this.

Stick with VMware tools install for now for file sharing.

Thanks for your great art information and debugging this issue.

    Steve

  • Shared folders is longer supported?

In Ubuntu 14.04 (faithful), I correctly filled and installed VMwareTools - 9.6.1 - 1378637.tar.gz, using patches to https://github.com/rasa/vmware-tools-patches/tree/master/patches/vmhgfs.

I am able to mount a shared folder, but the folder is not usable. Instead, a "Not a directory" error. For example:

    # ls-l/mnt/hgfs

method: cannot open the directory/mnt/hgfs: not a directory

This problem has been reported previously to Re: problem module vmhgfs vmware-tools workstation 9.0.3 inspired 3.13.5 - 103 kernel fedora 19

    and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1272196/ .

    Note that https://bugs.Launchpad.NET/Ubuntu/+source/open-VM-tools/+bug/1272196/comments/5 States:

"The vmhgfs module (host VMWare <>- Comments file system)" is no longer supported by VMWare and it builds on recent kernels.".

Is it, in fact, true? Shared folders is longer supported?

If so, what are the alternatives (other than NFS, Samba, SSHFS, etc.)?

    Hello @rasa

Unfortunately, I can't make an official statement from VMware, but I think you're wrong interpret this answer.

The problem is that the distribution of VMware tools is a bit 'complex', the reason is actually to simplify things and have all of the drivers in VMware conveyed by the respective kernel developers and linux distributions.

    There are 3 different "tracks".

1 Linux "inbox" drivers, for example. the drivers that are part of the kernel / linux distributions, these include, network driver vmxnet3, pvscsci driver, memory balloon pilot, vmwgfx 3d graphics driver, drivers vmci and vsock, see also: KB VMware: VMware for Linux VMware Windows support

Down on this page you can find the part that responds to your question:

Why a version of an operating system do not include the vmhgfs driver?

The vmhgfs driver has been added upstream. To work around this situation, install VMware Tools provided with the workstation or Fusion products, who will install the lack vmhgfs drivers. The VMware Tools installer does not disturb VMware Windows included with the operating system.

2 open-vmware-tools drivers, these are extra libraries extending the features. This used to contain everything that in the past but parts have been moved to inbox drivers and the part you are looking for drivers - vmhgfs - is part of the supply of office products. See also: KB VMware: VMware to open-vm-tools support

    3. the vmware tools bundled package. This is where you find the vmhgfs driver, your problem is now that you are trying to use Ubuntu 14.04 and that the OS is not out yet (next month). I installed it without any customization here, and while I can list the mount point, that is not to have the shared folder. Drag & drop between guests however works. I'll take a look at why it does not list the part after the OS is updated to the most recent (update has not since last week)

    hope this helps,

    --

    Wil

Edit: FWIW I reinstalled the vmware tools and he has indeed missed out on the vmhgfs driver. While I can probably patch (errors appear quite trivial) I'm not in that much of a need and prefer to wait that Ubuntu has released faithful and VMware has updated the vmware tools. For now I just use drag & drop as mentioned above.

  • Shared folders not available

I have VMware workstation on a Windows 2008 host operating system 8.

I have some linux guests for whom I allowed to shared folders and it worked fine.

However, when the guests, I shared folders are not available.

The option is not present under VMware settings

Shared folders work for shared virtual computers?

I guess that you did not read the documentation!

From page 52 in Using VMware Workstation:

Allow a shared folder for a virtual machine

You can enable file sharing to a specific virtual machine. To set up a folder for sharing between virtual machines, you must configure each virtual machine to use the same directory on the network or host system share.

NOTE You cannot enable a shared folder to a shared virtual machine or remotely.

  • LR5 not moving images between volumes

This morning it worked always, tonight I can't move images between volumes more in lightroom. A dialog informs me that the images can be copied or moved to the selected destination.

It works from the finder without problems, which indicates that the permissions are OK. What else could be wrong?

Move the pictures in your operating system, reconnect in Lightroom using Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing

  • How can I block sharing folders on a virtual machine?

I have a virtual machine running Win7 and a WinXP running. I need to isolate the version of WinXP shared folders, because it is ruin an installation of Visual c++ + / Dark GDK.

I WANT the VM Win7 to share files with my Mac. I don't WANT the WinXP VM to share folders. How can I do this? If I disconnect the network in the Windows XP machine folder, when I restart it, it pops up again.

    Can anyone help?

Well, you could just stop the sharing folders in the Virtual Machine settings.

Take a look at: sharing files between Windows and your Mac

  • Is it me? Fusion on Snow Leopard, Ubuntu 10.10: no network, none of the shared folders.

On my Macbook, I use VMWare Fusion course and installed Ubuntu 10.10, which worked pretty well. I'm not an expert in everything, I use Ubuntu only for very limited use and do not plan to make my standard OS, but in this case, I have no choice. For this work, I need to share files, copy and paste text and use the network.

But from the beginning, I have these problems:

#1: whenever I send the virtual machine to sleep and wake up more later he acknowledges no more network connection.

#2: I share a folder on my Mac OS but I can't see them in Ubuntu. To be exact, I can only see the public folders from Mac users, but not those that I added.

#3: copy / paste between Mac and Ubuntu does not work.

Then I looked through the menu and found that VMWare Tools are not installed, then I started the installation via the menu. The only result is that a CD of VMWare tools is downloaded and installed - and then nothing happens. There is a text "manifest.txt" file that contains version information and an archive that contains a Setup program. If I double-click on that one I am wondering with what application I want to open it. Very funny... I don't know how to use it.

    Any suggestions for a beginner?

In the VmWare Fusion menu, I choose the folders that are on Mac and decide if he is reading only or read and write.

Looks like you use folders shared HGFS and involved getting up from different Windows and Linux handle this. In Linux, look under/mnt/hgfs to find the HGFS folder shared.

I just changed one in Mac OS shared, everyone is allowed to read and write. Now I can see the content from Ubuntu. But I certainly don't want to share with all the members of my network. This folder is NOT in the list of folders that are common between Mac and Ubuntu, it is shared over the network, but not through VMWare.

OS X folders behave differently from HGFS shared - folders they use different protocols and transport mechanisms.

  • Working in a virtual machine of shared folders and not another...

Hi, I'm new to the community but have worked with VMWare Workstation for about 9 months now. I have a set of 5 VM that I run on a regular basis, and I had successfully implemented the shared folders in each VM to a central folder on my C: drive host. I now have new versions of several of the virtual machine and I am trying to configure access to the same shared folder, but it will not be displayed.

After you set up the information in shared folders in the virtual machine settings, I go into the virtual machine on my computer and expect to see under readers network, "Shared Folders on .host '. Who does not appear and when I try to map a network drive to //.host/Shared files /, it can't find the network.

I compared the parameters between a virtual machine that has the Shared folder working and one who does not work, and I can't seem to find any differences.

Here are some of my system details, if it helps:

VMWare Workstation Version 6.5.2 build 156735

Host of OS = Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)

    VM OS = Windows Server 2003 (32-bit)

I've updated the VMWare tools in the virtual machine

I have ideas of what I can try to get this working. Thank you!

Try to upgrade the virtual hardware version 7 - maybe it does.

Why don't you use the entries for the disks in cluster? -of course, you know that they are not stable in WS 6.5

  • Shared folders gone

    I work with version 1.0.1 on Yosemite 10.10.5 Photos (Mac Pro Mid 2010, 2 x 3.33 GHz 6 - Core Intel Xeon, 48 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC)

Today, suddenly my files shared in the toolbar of left missing so that the complete 'shared' - option.

It happened when someone had added a photo to a shared folder. Photos icon shows a '1', indicating that the photo has been added. But I can't find shared folders more and do not know where to see the photo.

I am connected to iCloud and I there active streaming option as well as the photo of iCloud sharing option. I left pictures, shot these Photos options off and on again, restarted and it was the same thing.

On my iPhone, I can see the shared folder still exists. It ist just isn't on my Mac desktop.

Can someone help me out here? Thanks in advance!

Do you hear, to the title of the 'Shared' section is also absent from the sidebar? If you still see the 'Shared' title, move the pointer to the right reveal hidden ShowHide control. and click on 'display '.

If even the title is missing, check if your current photo library will continue to operate as a Photo library system. In the Photos > preferences > shared "Use as system library" option should be greyed out.

Check your system preferences > iCloud > Photos > Options, if iCloud photo sharing is still.

Check your Photos > preferences > iCloud, if iCloud photo sharing is still.

The owner of the shared album may have deleted the album. Then it vanish inyour library too.
