  Hello. I have a GX520 SF and I'm the rebuild as a PC for my daughter. It has a 80 GB Samsung HARD drive, but as I can fit only 1 HD in the chassis and there is only 1 SATA connector, I want to install a larger capacity drive.  I have a new 320 GB Hitachi sister (HDP725032GLA360) but when I put it in the GX520 my WOOD seems to see all 320 (could be asit receives a text string to disk rather than the bios disk interogating?) but the sys op (XP Pro) sees only 120 GB (or there abouts). I tried to partition it and no partitioning it but I can't work around this problem.  I also downloaded and installed the latest version of the BIOS from the page drivers on the website of Dell GX520. Then, the questions are:

  Can I install the 320 GB drive and get to see / use it?

  If so, how - if not, why not?

  Otherwise, and 120 GB, that's all he can see, if I partition the drive on another PC as (for example) 120 / 120 / 80 can reinstall on the GX520 will go round the problem?

  If not, then what are the options should I for a larger HARD drive (capacity / brand / model)?

  If a DVD burner, it can. Look at your CD/DVD drive on the computer - it can burn DVDs if it says:

  "DVD + R/RW"
  "DVD + R/RW"
  'DVD + R'
  'DVD-R '.
  "DVDR.
  or "DVD writer".

  PC2-4200 is not fast enough for some of the processors supported FSB.

  Faster RAM doesn't hurt anything, but it may not work at the fastest speed, unless the processor is running at top speed for the FSB also.

  I'm working on 2 LTS of the Dell OptiPlex GX520 both seem to die at the same time. Out of warranty.

  When switching on the power supply the power button on the front lights up ever. No indication of power except a small indicator not clear on the motherboard turn it on when AC is applied to the power supply. I deleted every piece of hardware expect the IO, CPU, CPU fan, power supply and AC applied to the power supply with the same results. I think that the food is bad because the fan on the power supply does not light and there is no indication of power. Please let me know if anyone has any other ideas. No other power supply to test with.

• Hitachi sister 7K 3000 on areca 1880ix-16 / 4GB

  I currently have final discussions with my Integrator on which disks to use with the Areca. My first choice of readers was the sister 7K 3000 1.5 TB drives. But my system integrator does not to saying me to stay with approved records. Company records preference! Unfortunately, most of the records in the list are outdated. Granted, Areca cannot test all the readers, and I assume wrongly categories drive could be implicitly approved. Like all WD RE4 drives, or all Seagate Constellation ESdrives or all the Ultrastars, etc. But it doesn't seem to be the case according to the list. The Ultrastar 7K 2000 2 TB drive is there at $220, and the CT of Ultrastar 7 K 3000 3 $350. At those prices, it can get quite expensive with the installation of 10 by car. This is why the sister 7 K 3000 1.5 TB look like a bargain at $65. It is less cost prohibitive to get 10 of them. But I want to assure the readers that I receive, play nice with Areca card and can handle stress. Someone has actually tested on the 1880 series cards?

  If I am to spend above $120 per car for enterprise class disks, I fear that a few readers RE4 and Constellation which are on the list, have not passed all the tests. If I go the route of the company, I was thinking maybe get SAS2 6Gbps drives instead of SATA2 3Gbps. The price difference being is not that great. The Seagate Constellation ES 500 GB at $125, the 1 TB from $150, is nice. But I see a notable improvement on SATA2 class readers. I stick to the models of 7200 rpm disks, for the problems of noise and heat.

  If I don't want to spend about $200 per disc, and a future expansion in mind, I thought I'd get Constellation.2 500 GB 2.5 "SAS drives to $185. In this way, I could pack more records in a case with 2 x 2.5 "in a 3.5" cages. I could so finally get a full card support with 16 discs, sends a large capacity at even greater speed. Just think about the future here.

  But of course, I'd rather spend less for a reliable drive.

  Too bad, I know that recommend them to you, so I guess you, or know people who have proved the 7 K 3000 series on Areca sister cards?

  Number of readers, I don't have a test on my Areca.  My current favorite is a 2.5 inch eight player in this Mobile Supermicro Rack in a profile of two low-profile is really compact.  They also offer a 4-disc format in a single low-profile case. I am lucky to have the Seagate ST9146853SS 15 000 RPM 6 Gbps SAS disks, I took a big risk (the only way I could afford eight of these readers) and I bought a used Dell 'tire '.  I also foresaw potential problems and purchased additional disks.  I had a player that did not allow the table to work fully, but by the process of elimination, I could isolate it and replace it.  I am currently exploring other configurations of 2.5 inches because of the compactness with many readers.  I did also set up disks Seagate 7200.12 1 TB of 8 and 12 and found the same problem that was easily fixed with the same process of elimination.  Do this test in RAID 0, because there is no time of installation involved and after that you are satisfied to configure your preferred RAID level.  Later, I discovered that they had several updates firmware for these drives very commercial

  I have an Optiplex GX620 with built-in Bios version A11 and 198 X Audio.  I installed Windows 7 on the system and it works fine, except for the Audio.  In recording the sound device Panel, it does not show the adaptors to THE Stereo Mix as active or.  DELL provides on issueing an updated driver after October 22, 2009?  Is there somewhere else I can look for these drivers up to date?

• OptiPlex GX280 soundmax integrated digital audio failed, driver problem?

  I have an Optiplex GX280 with soundmax integrated digital audio under Windows 7 SP1. Sound works fine for a long time, then more nothing. I uninstalled it, rebooted, Windows Update found and installed the same driver. Speakers using good reputation does not work. I tried to find a few smwdm.sys, NG. I double checked the BIOS, audio integrated will continue to operate. He then restarted and re-enabled it is disabled.  I found a newer driver, 5.12.02.5280 is not compatible. About to call it DOA, and order a PCI card, thought I'd give it a shot in the forum. Appreciate the help.

  I am trying to add a 160 GB Hitachi sister HARD drive as a second drive to a Dimension 4500, but when I try to format it using "Disk Management" the format reaches 100% and generates the message 'format was not completely successful. " The same message is displayed even for small partitions.

  Presumably, you have support for such large propulsion in the BIOS

  Just, I was playing a game (crysis) p.c. when my system crashed (blue screen with a mosquito net white writing apeared for a second, then asked me if I wanted to send a report to microsoft that I did). IWAS said the problem could be repaired and to insert the windows disk 7, who got the opportunity to repair the system automatically, I clicked Yes and told me the problem could not be fixed automatically and consult my system administrator (me). I decided to try reinstalling windows 7.i had 3/4 the way through and a pop up box says that he "could not set to the locale information offline (error 0x80fe000). So I decided to try it yourself to Microsoft answers, I read a post that said something about the boot parameters, but this person was using raid 0, incidentally mine is located at, 1 bunch of boot 2 hard drive cd rom, also have another HDD that I use at the moment (seagate barracuda 7200-12) and it works as it is defined to do. I then read another post that related to fix it manually, so I tried to run chkdsk from the command prompt in the Tools console and it says "cannot open volume for direct access" now I've exhausted my knowledge p.c. on the subject and all the posts I can fully understand. Furthermore the hard drive is now formatted.

  After reading your original post, looks like the error you encounter this "could not set the locale information offline (error 0x80fe000), you can."
  try to install it on a logic instead of the main disk drie. You have two hard disks on your computer, look at and see that it is set as main and make sure that you start the installation it. I also run diagnostics on your hard drive and make sure that you are not any problems before you begin the installation.

  EVGA video card is a good choice, but in fact, if the rumors are correct, the Kepler 6xx series will be announced soon. However, the accouncing and have them in stock at an outlet local are two different things, not to mention the high price right after the introduction.

  Alternative mobo ASUS could be the ASUS P9X79 WS, who has embedded IEEE.

  Check carefully that the Ripjaw X works on this mobo. IIRC for the 79 X series platform Ripjaw Z are the recommended range.

  Make sure that you put a fixed pagefile (min = max) of about 16 GB or even 32 GB in disk Hitachi slightly before you use it for something else to make sure the file is the first file on the disk and delete the pagefile from C: drive.

  To avoid too much written that OCZ SSD, make sure that you give to your C: by default file locations and an another drive location. This can apply to My Documents, my music, Cookies, Internet Cache, download, Internet History, Temp, Application Data, Common Application Data, etc.

  For the rest, it seems OK to me.
