i, ve got an optiplex gx520 dell, it's this model able to copy or burn videos on my pc on a dvd disc.

If a DVD burner, it can. Look at your CD/DVD drive on the computer - it can burn DVDs if it says:

"DVD + R/RW"
"DVD + R/RW"
'DVD + R'
'DVD-R '.
"DVDR.
or "DVD writer".

He can't if it says "DVD-ROM" or "CD".

If you need a burning program here are those that are free:

I deleted every piece of hardware expect the IO, CPU, CPU fan, power supply and AC applied to the power supply with the same results. No other power supply to test with.

original title: How do I uninstall windows vista

    Hello

You will need to contact Dell about this and see if they still have an XP CD to sell you to reinstall XP

IF Dell still have an XP disk available for this model, you will then need to clean install XP to replace Vista as an operating system.

Here are a few Dell informatiion on this computer model:

Some use Dell computers have a Media Direct button or the Media Direct functionality to load the operating system (Windows Xp was native with these options) and the drivers for the DVD player directly to the contrary having to turn on your computer ' "and have it load it all.  The idea was that if someone just wanted to read a CD or a video, would be less user needs...

That being said, use these special and possibly other computers without the Media Direct "HPA" feature on the hard drive (HDD).  The HPA is the "host protected area", these Dell computers used for Storage Media Direct and function of the DSR (Dell system restore) feature, which also came with the PC.  This allowed the user to restore basically a BONE or a series of programs using a couple of keys corrupt or damaged...

The problem, you've probably come across is that in cloning or copying exactly, your for the new drives of 80 GB or 250 GB HARD drive is that the MBR (master boot record) was also copied, telling the BIOS in your PC the new drive is the same as the old disk, even if in reality, we don't.  You must recover the space unallocated, taken over by the HPA.  This can be done in two ways.  I understand that the series of PC Optiplex are desktop computers, is that correct?  If so, I hope you have room for a second HDD, so you do not have to swap disks.  If you only have one drive Bay, you will need to swap hard drives AFTER you create the utility CD.

Download the utility 'CD IMAGE' on the website HGST (Hitachi) to the title of the series 'Feature Tools' programs.  This is a free HARD disk utility which is designed for checking and restoring some Hitachi / HGST drives, but works on many others.  Once you have downloaded this file, burn it to a CD, which will create a bootable for use version.  Install the HARD drive you want to 'fix' in your PC and then boot from the CD.  Follow the prompts and (if your HARD drive is detected, and options to check the disk or repair it appear, you're in luck), click on "restore ability."  This should remove the LPD of the reader and make the unused available as unallocated space.  Once you have done this, leave the program and turn OFF your PC.  If you only have one drive Bay, re-install the main on your computer HARD drive and boot normally.  Install your second 'repaired' HARD drive in an external case ATA.  If you drive, just two bays normally start on the main drive.  Right-click on the "My Computer" or "Computer" desktop icon and select 'Manage' the traction in the menu dropdown.  When the new window appears, select 'Disk management' under the heading 'storage '.  A pictogram of your readers will appear.  Reader of '0' or your 'C:' will show on the top, another 'new' on the bottom drive.  The total size of the drive should show.  You will have a 42 GB partition which is what this drive was used when you originally copied on it, and then you should see the space as "Unallocated."  You may need to format this space.  Try to create a "Primary" partition right click on unallocated space and choosing the options shown.  If this does not work, get in shape this area.  Then create a new primary partition.  When this is done, if the player does not a drive letter (name) that are associated with, assign one.  According to the number of readers and devices you have connected to your PC, this may appear as "New E: drive" or "F:", etc.  Once you have created the new primary partition and assigned a drive letter name on your HARD drive, use a partition management tool to merge the partitions, a primary NTFS partition.  This should hopefully solve your problem.

When you are done and want to use the (s) restored as the destination, use a program such as Norton Ghost (15.0 is the current version and is compatible with Win Xp) "Image" of your player; Do NOT CLONE it, or you will again copy the MBR and HPA for the destination drive.  Good luck - made - know us how you did it.

To the file copy stage of the registry would be game.  It could be a permissions issue, you could mount the drive in a different Windows NT installation type and set the permissions.

  • MICROSOFT SAYS MY SYSTEM IS COMPATIBLE BY FAR, BUT FOR SOME REASON, THIS MODEL OF DELL DOES NOT ACCEPT IT.

HELLO, I TRIED TO UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10 MONTHS NOW. MICROSOFT SAYS MY SYSTEM IS COMPATIBLE BY FAR, BUT FOR SOME REASON, THIS MODEL OF DELL DOES NOT ACCEPT IT. I HAVE A DELL STUDIO 540, X 64 BASED PC. PLEASE HELP, I REALLY WANT TO TRY WINDOWS 10.

    Original title: WIDOWS 10 UPDATE

If Dell has said that it is not compatible, I wouldn't do it.  Dell needs to have the drivers and software for it or it is not working properly.  I would make sure you call, email or web-chat with Dell and ask them first.

If you really want to try anyway (at your own risk), you can, but I suggest that do you a full picture of backup of your computer in order to "undo" that and go back to the way you are today if something is wrong or you don't like it.

  • Drive problem HARD bigger OptiPlex GX520 installation

Hello. I have a GX520 SF and I'm the rebuild as a PC for my daughter. It has a 80 GB Samsung HARD drive, but as I can fit only 1 HD in the chassis and there is only 1 SATA connector, I want to install a larger capacity drive.  I have a new 320 GB Hitachi sister (HDP725032GLA360) but when I put it in the GX520 my WOOD seems to see all 320 (could be asit receives a text string to disk rather than the bios disk interogating?) but the sys op (XP Pro) sees only 120 GB (or there abouts). I tried to partition it and no partitioning it but I can't work around this problem.  I also downloaded and installed the latest version of the BIOS from the page drivers on the website of Dell GX520. Then, the questions are:

Can I install the 320 GB drive and get to see / use it?

If so, how - if not, why not?

Otherwise, and 120 GB, that's all he can see, if I partition the drive on another PC as (for example) 120 / 120 / 80 can reinstall on the GX520 will go round the problem?

If not, then what are the options should I for a larger HARD drive (capacity / brand / model)?

Any help or advice gratefully received.

    Thank you, Steve.

BTW - don't have a floppy drive installed to start from, or the original recovery CD.

  • How can I reactivate my windows xp family. . I got it on a Dell computer that is now being scrapped

My Dell hard drive crashed and I decided to buy a new custom built-in computer and reinstall Windows XP on it using my reinstallation disk (one of the numerous disks provided by Dell). This worked OK, but now I find that Microsoft will not validate my software for any reason any. What can I do now?

In other words - you cannot

Your Windows & license, if it came pre-installed on the Dell, lived and died with him, and cannot be moved to another machine under any circumstances.

You can buy a new Windows license to a merchant of good reputation - NOT ebay and other, where the majority of the licesnes are counterfeits.

    problems viewing videos

    Hello Volbubba,

Thank you for your message.  This problem is usually caused by 'streaming video', and can occur more or less frequently because of your bandwidth.  Make sure that is to play a video, you will need to look at the 'play' bottom line.  You should see the movement on this line during playback of your video, there should also be another line indicating how far along your computer streaming ability has gone.  If you watch the video as soon as it is streaming, you will experience a break until it catches up.

You can try reseating the RAM modules in their slots, but it seems that there was a failure of RAM. You may need to remove modules and re-run the tests to see if you can ID the failed module and then you have to replace it as a pair.

  • How to format a Dell Backup and Recovery DVD disc copy?

In 2013, when I bought my Dell Inspiron 15R is 7520, it was preinstalled with the Windows 8.0 operating system. Using the Dell B & R software right now, I created 8.0 Windows system image in different regions in 3 DVDs.

Since then I have had then improved to 8.0 Windows 8.1 and year last at 10.

To avoid the loss of data in case of failure of equipment/system, I created the image of the system of Windows 10 in an external hard drive (WD Passport 1 TB).

But other readings suggested that I also need to create a bootable in case system repair disc if Windows refused to load. That's why I wanted to format the disks from windows 8.0 image I created in the year 2013. However, the disks are write protected and I can't format it.

Can someone tell me how to format disks that are protected from writing software Dell B & R?

    Thank you.

If the media is DVD-R or + r, it is write - once.  You will need new discs to make a new recovery boot disc.

If it's on DVD - RW or + RW, you can format the disks using Windows or another utility (Cyberlink, Nero, etc) and re-use the disks.
