  I have a MacBook Pro with 10.6.8.  For technical reasons, I can't upgrade to a newer version of Mac OS X.  I have a license for VMware Fusion 2.x and I'm using the latest version of VMware I am legally authorized to use, 2.0.8.  For technical reasons, I have to stay with what are free upgrades I have the right to use.

  I have a guest to Solaris that resides on an external drive.  I want to make sure this guest operating system starts when I connect the MacBook Pro.

  In the finder, I put VMware fusion as "open at Login".

  If Fusion launches before the external drive turns and rises in the finder, it will not see the virtual machine and does not start.  Launch of Fusion manually or power cycle external drive so there ' hot' before you start.

  I have bould last year and it worked well on my old pc with XP
  Now, I have a new computer with Vista on it and I want to connect to my external hard drive, but it gives no reaction on my pc.
  The password screen does not appear, I tried different think and Regen, I installed but I can't make it work

  I have the same problem. But I've found a workaround.
  -Connect your HDD to PC VISTA
  -Select the CD drive with your browser (password)
  -Run ONSPCLCK.exe
  -Select 'Options '.
  -Select "Disable security password"
  -Enter your current password
  -Unplug the HARD drive
  -Connect the HARD drive

  now, it will work, but without any protection of password :(

  on iMac OS 10.10.5, when I open a folder (by double-clicking) on an external drive, the folder does not open in a new window, but in a window that replaces the window that was opened.  I looked for a system setting that controls this (in system PREF), but I couldn't find anything useful.

  If you control - click the folder there is an option to open in a new tab. I don't know of anyway to set up in system preferences.

• Drive external DRIVE does not appear on my PC

  I have the old HDD on my PC that I put in an envelope so that I can get my old files and data of it.  It appears nowhere on my PC (and I tried all 6 USB port) but will show and work very well on my small 80 GB Dell Latitude D630.  The PC didn't it in Explorer, Device Management, disk management, or anywhere else that I can think to look for him.

  Two days ago, my iMac 2013 end ceased to recognize the external CD/DVD drive I have been connected to it for more than 12 months.   I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, cleaned and Defrag the disk (when I was able to access) but it works still very badly now!

  What else can I do to find out what is the problem with this Toshiba drive and return it works reliably?

  Somehow I'm the drive working again, I went in 'tools' and all reset setting 'default '. Now the drive works, but I transferred some data on the hard disk, just in case. Wish me luck on this...

  Can someone help me with this.

  I have Hitachi Touro Pro 4 x 2 TB external hard drives. All works 100% on Windows 7.

  However, they do not work in Windows 8. When connected, you will hear the sound letting you know a device USB is connected, but no drive letter.
  After a few minutes (2-4 minutes), a reader appears but it you are trying to access the drive of the machine freezes.

  I tried all 4 discs and they all show the same question, working under Windows 7 not 8.

  It must be a windows problem.

  Can someone who got their Touro Hitachi to work with Windows 8 confirm the USB 3.0 host controller?

  After the first noticed compatibility problems during my first install of Windows 8, I traded my Hitachi drive for disk Seagate Expansion of my brother. His drive is smaller, but at least I can use it with my computer.

  Of anyway, computer of my brother is having a few problems and I'll try to reinstall Windows 7. before that, I decided to do a test installation of Windows 8. His computer runs on an Intel 4 series chipset and I added an external USB 3.0 to connect to his hard drive expansion card. After you have installed Windows 8 on his computer, I was able to access the hard disk Hitachi Touro Pro without any problem at all.

  I checked in the Device Manager and its USB 3.0 host controller is listed as Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller. My computer is having problems with the Hitachi drive is running on an Intel H77 basic motherboard with integrated USB 3.0. On my computer host controller is listed as Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft).

  Based on this information, the issue would die with the drivers for the USB 3.0 controller and not the operating system? Intel does not provide the updated drivers for USB 3.0 on Windows 8. previous versions of the operating system only.

  I just found a thread to the Intel support community which has more than 225 comments of users on this issue. Apparently Windows 8 Microsoft's native drivers for the Intel USB 3.0 controller cause problems with other USB 3.0 devices. Someone hacked the driver of Windows 7 lasted for the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller to make it work for Windows 8. It is available for download at page 16 of this thread. You must disable the signature to be able to install the driver from the driver.

  • Hold down the SHIFT key while selecting Restart to enter Advanced Startup Options
  • Click on solve problems
  • Click on Advanced Options
  • Click startup parameters
  • Click on restart
  • After the computer restarts, select option 7 to disable driver signature enforcement
  • Go to the Device Manager
  • Right-click on your USB 3.0 host controller, and then select set day pilot
  • Choose "Browse my computer for driver software".
  • Choose «Let Me pick...» »
  • Click the disk button
  • Navigate to where you downloaded the updated driver the and select
  • Click next
  • Select the installation option when warned against the digital driver signing
  • If an unknown device appears, you can install it by selecting the option "Browse...". "and enter in the folder rather than having to manually choose a specific driver. This will install the Hub Intel USB 3.0

  If all goes well, Intel acknowledges this problem and release updated drivers. So far, it will work if everything goes well without any problems.
