Home sharing turned on with a PC to transfer music?

I am trying to find a way to transfer my music files on my iPhone.   I have a MacBook 2.1 (OS X 10.6.8) I'm currently using to synchronize with my iPad (3rd generation) and two iCloud backup devices.  I recently inherited an iPhone 4S of my son and I would like to put my music on the iPhone file.  Apparently, the iPhone requires the latest version of iTunes on the MacBook one because iTunes doesn't recognize iPhone or it syncs music to the iPhone.  I also have access to a Windows laptop that recognizes the iPhone when I connected via USBport I could use as a substitute for the MacBook.  The only question is: can I use home sharing to place my music library and playlists on the PC, so I can sync the PC to the iPhone and there at - it a step by step procedure how to set up the House sharebetween two computers?

Hey, Darrell.

Please visit Apple support communities.

I understand that you want to move your MacBook to your computer Windows Media so that you can synchronize with your iPhone 4S.  There are several ways that this can be done, and I'll include the step by step guide on how to move your media.

How to move your iTunes library to a new computer

Once this is done, you can sync your iPhone with your Windows computer and here are the steps on how to go through this process so unfamiliar.

    Hello

I have the new AppleTv 64 GB and an iMac with public funds, Mac OS X and iTunes.

Both devices are on ethernet using DHCP.

I have set up home sharing on iTunes with sharing pictures and videos (30 photos of k). Also, the AppleTV is configured to use the home sharing (even apple ID).

Once, I managed to see the image as an element under computers library, but can when loading never completed. Now, I don't see my music.

The strange thing is that he has appeared after a reboot of my iMac, now helps you no more.

What is a good strategy to identify the root cause of the failure or repair? Is there a special order of commissioning,... to make it work?

    Thanks for any help!

    Welcome to the Apple community.

Go to iTunes > file > sharing > choose Photos and check that the correct source is selected in the menu drop down and you have selected a few photos.

If this is all correct them, make a slight change and click 'Apply', check on your Apple TV to see if pictures have reappeared.

If this help you can reverse the light changes and again click 'apply '.

  • AppleTV lose synchronization with the home sharing

First my set up: I have an AppleTV 2nd gen and the AppleTV 3rd gen (both up to date), the 10 Windows computer, iTunes 12.3.2.35 (the latest version), Airport Express (also updated) router hooked up to the modem to my cable company (bought airport because the wifi on the cable modem was crap and I had to reboot the modem on a daily basis). I put both the Windows Firewall and the firewall on the cable modem to accept UDP Port 5353 Hello (in fact, that morning on the Windows Firewall is configured to accept any port).

The problem: for the first eight months, I got the Airport Express, it was great. I was finally able to use reliably the AppleTV without having to reboot, nothing. A few weeks ago, I started having problems when I turn on the AppleTV and he told me that she could not access share and I want to ensure that the computer is on the same network, iTunes updated and these. Everything is up to date and I have only a single network appliances signed in. Usually restart iTunes solves the problem, but this isn't really an option when one of the AppleTV is connected to and play something iTunes. At this stage you can still stream purchases iTunes, YouTube and other apps, it does not recognize only the computer itunes library. Go to the general tab and then by restarting the AppleTV don't work, or don't disconnect and reconnect it to the network. On rare occasions, I had just restart everything (not sure if the router and the modem that requires restarting, but as I expected the computer I thought it have not harmed).

I wonder if someone can offer a preview/advice as to why the AppleTV intermittently does not recognize your computer for sharing, especially when the other AppleTV is fortunately streaming something from the iTunes library on my PC. I want to say that it worked very well at the start of the latest version (12.3.0.44), but she definitely felt the connection problem until 12.3.2.35 was released and it did not get better with the update. Googling around the internet, I saw comments on disabling IPv6, but I prefer not to do that because it is likely to cause other problems on the road.

  • Internet bandwidth economy with home sharing

    Hello

I did some quick research, but has not been able to find an answer to this...

I have an Apple TV 4 and I buy and stream iTunes movies and television on a regular basis. In an effort to save internet bandwidth, I wonder if I download movies / TV shows to my iMac and activate home sharing, will be my Apple TV then disseminate these to my iMac or will he continue to stream from the file iTunes servers?

    Thank you.

    Hi there Antonio0279,

Yes indeed you can save bandwidth by using home sharing to view media on your computers! You must go through the computers rather than the streaming app to say that iTunes and this article has more information on this topic:

    • To find shared libraries, go to the main menu, select computers, and then choose a library.
    • You can also view photos from your computer to your Apple TV: open iTunes on your computer. Then go to file > home sharing > select the Photos to share with the Apple TV.

From: use the share of the House to share content with other devices iTunes

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

  • How is it that Turner Classic Movies (home cable TV) come with captioning, but whenever the same movies are available online (e.g., YouTube), the cc is not always available?

    ONLINE CAPTIONING

Please explain how is it that about 90 percent of Turner Classic Movies (home cable TV) come with closed captioning, but whenever the same movies are available online (e.g., YouTube), the cc is still unavailable?  Then, of course, there is the possibility of using the Google auto-transcription, which is a sequence of words scrambled for the most part, although I appreciate Google constantly trying to improve the technology on the Internet...  Does anyone know a website of classic movies where appropriate captioning is available?

    Thank you very much.

  • Intermittent home sharing - TS suggestions?

I've read numerous reports online with home sharing being super intermittent. I'm usually pretty good when it comes to troubleshooting, but have found myself confused on this issue. Sharing home worked a lot in the past, but as of recent it has gotten to the point were the video I watch will drop every 5 minutes or so and I have to re connect to the server.

    The installation program looks like

    • Mac Mini Late 2009 (2.26 GHz with 8 GB ram) connected by ethernet an Airport Extreme CA (setting for PPoE)
    • 12 iTunes (the latest version as of 26 September)
    • Mac OS X 10.11.6
    • iPad 2 Air with iOS 10.0.1
    • iPhone with iOS 10.1 + 7
    • All of the devices in question have a static iP (at the lower end of the scale)
    • Also running Mac OS Server on the mac Mini however this has always been the case even when the home sharing works.
Signed and off home sharing on all devices and the problem persists on the iPhone and the iPad that makes me think that it may have something to do with home sharing. Don't forget that I can access my Mac Mini remotely via google remote desktop without interruption since the iPad in the same exact place it is de-energized. Internet abandon, however home sharing does. She also is de-energized at random points in the video, if I had to watch the video again, it would be a different point, so doesn't seem to be a problem with the file.

OK so I solved my problem, the issue seemed to come from my mac sharing the iTunes Media folder. I turn off file sharing and it seemed to have solved the problem.

  • Apple TV home sharing does not (10 Windows, iTunes 12.4.1.6)

I have two 3rd generation Apple TV in my house and home sharing used to work perfectly on it when the contents of the copy of iTunes on my desktop Windows 10 streaming. But since than do a clean install of Windows 10 that has not worked.

I search online for the solution and have tried everything... but nothing works.

It is not the firewall on the computer or the router by turning off both makes no difference

Running iTunes in mode of different compatibility does not help

Change the name of computers do not do...

Someone at - it any other ideas?

AirPlay works perfectly, it's just the sharing House that doesn't.

    Thanks in advance

For home sharing work, ATV and iTunes must be on the same Apple ID This does affect airtime. Check the ID on your iTunes. You can find information here for help with home - sharing Apple support. Moreover, the firewall of the router, which focuses on internet traffic has nothing to do with it. The Windows Firewall must open certain ports to allow communication between different machines.

  • Home sharing does not

House-sharing worked well for awhile, but now when I try to access home sharing on my iPad app videos I get the small circle load to half way then I get a message that home sharing cannot be loaded.

I did the following to try to solve the problem...

    1. reboot all my devices (iPads, iPhones and ATV 3).

    2. close iTunes on my Mac Mini

3 restart my Mac Mini and restart iTunes, making sure that his signature in the home sharing (and ensuring that all devices are also signed in the House sharing)

4 pull the plug within 10 seconds of waiting router (ASUS NT-N66U) back in and restart it

    5 reboot the router; and

    6. I tried ethernet and Wi - Fi with the ATV

I am confused, I don't know what to do next.

I also renewed the DHCP lease and turned off the firewall on my mac and the router. I always have the same question.

  • Home sharing Mac Apple TV

I have a 3rd generation, Apple TV and just bought a new Apple TV this last Christmas. I often had problems connecting to my music and my Apple TV movies 3rd generation with my iTunes running on my iMac. Frequently, I get a message telling me that iTunes must be on and turn on home sharing. Now, I get that on my new Apple TV as well. My question is, that important if the computer is in standby or if hard drives are probably stop after my iMac has been asleep for more than 3 hours. which is my power to save the settings. Thanks for any help you can give. It seems to connect to my Apple TV is a hit or miss proposal today. I still have my share of home computer and ITunes is turned on, connected to the home network, but honestly I don't know if the hard drives are running when I try to connect.

IF the shared computer with the lib is asleep, and in the absence of the network as such the atv cannot access data from it

  • Why a home sharing started everything leaving iPhotos to show. I have been using Photos for several months to share on my Apple TV.

I use your Apple TV (3rd generation) to display photos for my artwork. I use the Photos app and not to use iPhoto.

My photos are organized into Photos in special albums. Over the last five months, I can choose Photos when I turn home sharing.

My only option is now iPhotos. I need to use photo albums.

How can I change the option of iPhotos Photos?

I rebooted several times home sharing.

My software is up to date for iOS 9.2

Try again one thing that worked for me tonight.  Under the file Menu for home sharing, there is another selection to choose photos to share with the

  • Home sharing on iPad not available

I just upgraded our iPad OS 9.  I turned on home sharing on our Macbook and connected to iTunes on both devices.  There is no button for selection of home network or other devices on the iPad in the music app.  The only available buttons or my music, Playlists, Radio and Connect.  How can I connect iPad to the music on the Macbook?

You have home sharing enabled on your iPad (settings > Music), using the same account that you have enabled on your Mac iTunes, iTunes on your Mac is open, and the Mac and iPad are connected to the same wifi network?

With iOS 9 you access your shared library via the button on the top middle of the page of the application of music, where you can decide whether to view your content by artist, album, songs etc. - If a shared library is available, it should show below the display on the popup options.
