  I have a month G550 2958G6Q. I installed Win XP SP2. When I click turn off computer, Windows starts to close, and the same message appears on the screen. The laptop will not turn off. It seems to be an activity of the hard disk the HARD disk light "flashes" continuously in the form of game. I have to use force to shut down - by pressing the power button on the laptop!

  At first, I thought that this problem could be due to a conflicting driver. I reinstalled the OS - Win XP SP2. This time, I rebooted the system whenever a driver has been installed. I even installed Win XP fixes several available on the net and the one given by Lenovo reseller. Furthermore, I installed several required applications: Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, Picasa, Mozilla Firefox, and al. The trick worked; but only for a while. The same issue has resurfaced later. I tried to uninstall some applications, but the effort was in vain.

  A defective copy of OS couldn't be the reason because I used the same copy of the OS in my office and G450, and systems run smoothly.

  Could someone please suggest a possible solution to the problem?

  I had the same problem with my recent g550 I went down to SP2. Get rid of the webcam lenovo driver did the trick.
