  More than likely, the hotel wireless network is set up as a "network of comments" for reasons of security. This means no device connected on the network can see or communicate with another device on the network, only the devices outside the network (e.g. Internet).

  As much I know IE use a pop up blocker and this could be a reason connectivity doesn t work.
  Please check if the blocker is available on the unit you and try disabling this option of Microsoft.

  Probably not, but depends on the hotels wifi access. most of the hotels that I stay in you will have to "login" via web browser and the ATV doesn't have access to any browser...

  your best bet would be to broadcast directly from a mobile device connected to the tv in your hotel via a HDMI adapter...
