HotSync hangs up

I recently dropped my Centro and he hit the kind of hard on the handle of a metal safe that we have.

Later in the day tried to make an installation (with HotSync) on a new pc.  HotSync hangs up trying to synchronize the 'calendar '.  He basically just freezes there and installation must be undone when (after a long period of time) a window pops up that says "MEM_BAD_POINTER".

Has anyone an idea what to do with this?  Is my broken Centro and can it be taken somewhere to fix?

Any help is appreciated desperately.

Hello stellarplacebo, what we could suggest would be pure speculation.  It could be a direct hit caused a glitch/hardware failure, or it's just a coincidence!

Standard suggestions apply - test then Soft Reset, Hard Reset can test front of HotSync.  If everything works after a Hard Reset, it is related to the software.  If this isn't the case, it sounds like material.

We'll find Palm repairs ($$$) or several websites ($) like usedpdaparts.com or directfix.com.

  • Lost calendar data

    Help, please.  I lost the data calendar on the desktop.  Tried to sync to portable (M500) checked to make sure that the function "Handheld overrides Desktop" was on, but now I have NO calendar data on either.  OMG!  Is it in a file recovery somewhere?  Maybe a backup file?

    If you use Palm desktop 6.2, the data files are saved in the .mdb format.

    Rename the file to go to datebook.old. Rename the datebok datebook.mdb.bak and see if the data returns.

    I see in your message that hotsync hangs on the calendar category. Because you have to kill the application in the Task Manager, it says that the Calendar database can have corruption.

    Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will search the database and then to declare the corruption. You can then search records at the origin of the problem and fix them yourself or you can buy the program and do it automatically repair records.

    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm

    When you install DbFixIt, disable (set to "do nothing") the conduct of calendar so it won't hang during the synchronization process. If you purchase the program, search for 'blobs' in the calendar. These can cause synchronization problems.

  • Sync'ing on multiple computers

    Since 4 years, I used to have a Treo 600 that I Sync with three other PC using one of the old versions of Desktop. I had to replace this wonderful Treo longevity with a Centro and the Desktop 6.2 accompaniment. I was able to set up the Centro with my main computer and all the works of sync'ing as usual on this one machine. However, I'm unable to sync with my other two computers - hotsync hangs at the phase of transfer Contacts. All computers running XP.

    How can I fix it?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jim

    I would try something else, because it seems that the issue could be with the data on your phone.

    There is a freeware called DbFixIt www.pimlicosofware.com application.  Very effectively, it identifies the blobs damaged, corrupt or no data in databases on your handheld and allows you to remove them.  For a registration fee of $13, you can also have repair damaged databases.

    Many people gladly used their Palm devices with the older desktop without any problem software, but many problems like this arose when people started using Palm Desktop 6.2.2.  I don't know if it was just a coincidence or if there is something on the 6.2.2 pp that tolerates less imperfect data from my scientific observation of reading the forums on a daily basis... just pocket on.

    Suggest you give a try... can't hurt.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

    1 million thanks! I thought I had deleted all the files for the Palm III. Must have been a conflict that you said cause after an uninstall complete each other and reset everything seems fine. Once again thank you.

  • Centro HotSync with Palm V6.2.2 hangs on the AGENDA - no record of calendar on the Palm Desktop

    First of all, let me say that I hate the new version of Palm Desktop 6.2.2 and ongoing problems, I do a hotsync.  Today, I had to restart my computer I "uninstalled" an unrelated program on my computer.  When I rebooted my computer and open my Palm Desktop, all calendar data was gone.  Since my Centro has recently been hotsync d, I hung up and tried to synchronize.  The device and the desktop 'locked' in the CALENDAR function.  I found another post on the Forum where people from tech support says to 'download the trial version of Pimlico DbFixit' which I did and ran.  It indicates a problem too: DB-SNLT calendar: Both Description and Note are empty - usually a registry damaged.  REC = Date of 1508 = 11/01/09.  I also went in Palm Desktop and in the section 'Applications' found 'AGENDA' and the Nations United CHECKED.  Execution of hotsync again once allowed me to update everything EXCEPT the calendar.

    HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND GET THE TIMING BACK ON MY DESKTOP?

    I basically he fixed me after having used the trial version Dbfixit.  Your person to help chat told me to buy the product and then allow it to correct any errors in my data base.  It would have been a waste of money that the fix was easy once I knew what was wrong.

  • TX hangs after a Hotsync operation

    I went out a lot of my TX until use, just like HotSync ended, he crashed and just continued to reset and reset several times.  If she repeats a reset hard or soft I don't know, but I think it's a hard reset.  I have since done several manual resets hard on it, followed by HotSync, but the same thing happens every time.  The TX stops, then restarts as if she had just been reset, but it is never loaded.  It just keeps reset and reset.  HotSync seemed to work very well until it has reached the end when the TX will stop and start the reset on a cyclical basis.  Can someone help me?

    Thanks for the help, ComputerWiz.  But from 11:00 last night, my problem is solved!  I saw the new service of live-chat of Palm and tried.  I was delighted to have a technician available less than a minute, and he accompanied me simply by implementing a new backup folder.  Once which was finished, I tried to HotSync and have had no problems since! My TX is back in action!  A year or more, I had another problem, but this time I had a hotline.  I can't remember what the problem was, but the tech had me do the same - create a new folder of backups.  Solved the problem again.  This time, I recorded the steps carefully.  It will probably be the first solution I try if I should have a new problem.

  • Tungsten E2 hangs up on the calendar during the hot sync.

    I have a Tungsten E2 with Palm OS Garnet 5.4.7. Suddenly, he started hanging up during hotsync. He always tries to synchronize the calendar when it crashes.

    I lost the original PC software and impossible to reinstall cd. I tried to remove the software and installation of Palmdesktopwin62, but it has not fixed the problem.

    All the information on my Tuingsten is intact. Is anyway to get the Info off the coast of the Palm other than with the software of origin. Really, I can't lose my calendar data because it has my class schedule 6 whole months following thereon.

    Two suggestions:

    If you use not just any backup on the device software, download "NVBackup" and install it.  You can turn off the duct of the calendar by opening the HotSync Manager and changing the conduct of calendar ' doing nothing '.  As long as you do not check the box "Set as default", there will be a HotSync without trying to synchronize your calendar.

    Make a full backup of your device to a regular with NVBackup, errors 1 GB SD card and everything.

    Now go to Pimlicosoftware.com and download and install "DBFixit.  Run the program and let it search for corruption in your Calendar database.  It can correct errors free of charge, but more serious may require the purchase of a registration code (proceeds go to habitat of gorillas).

    There are a lot of messages in this Forum to people who have successfully used this program!

  • Zire72 data and BlueTooth HotSync

    Formatting / restored recently my 1 year old PC (Win7HomePremium on HP Pavilion) after 1 year successful hotsync with my Zire72. RELOADED Access 6.2 and tried to replace my data in Access, but couldn't make it work. Also, unable to hot sync via bluetooth as before. Unit connects and starts, gets to step 2 (calendar) of 13 and just hangs. Read that your old posts then let it run for more than 30 minutes and no change. You have to use Task Manager to stop. BTW, have uninstalled/reinstalled 6.2 Access but no change. Any ideas or other thoughts greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    DBFixit2 as 'fixed' the DMwrite fatal error/deleted it, but anyway, now able to sync without the crash. Good investment... $ 12.95 and it seems they have same technical support for the product and the process for Palm.

  • HotSync cannot complete 100%

    I used the centro unlocked version.

    Windows xp pro sp2.

    the problem is when I press the hotsync button, progress cannot be completed.

    Just look like hanging.

    progress only work 30% (I predicted me )

    I waited for aloooooong times... any idea for this... ?

    THX...

    Looks like one of the PIMs has corrupted data or you are using a USB port that has not enough power to maintain synchronization.

    Better to use USB0 (at the back of your computer that is connected to the motherboard) or hub powered by USB 2.0.

    Review your hotsync log and see if there are messages that indicate more discs for all PIM on your desktop or on your device. If you have these messages, change the action of a conduct PIM for the side with the records more crash with less records side for synchronization only. You can also use a pimlicosoftware.com DBFixIt, to repair.

  • Palm TX connects to the computer via WiFi for Hotsync

    I tried the network Hotsync on all my computers, XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 (which started the whole attempt) and the device fails to connect to the computer, even if I set the IP address.

    My wireless network see the Palm and I am able to access the Internet through it, but it does not connect to my computer. Any suggestions?

    Here is my Wifi Hotsync help file:

    WiFi HotSync with a TX

    1. on your PC, locate the Manager HotSync (small HotSync icon in the lower tray of the right tool on a Winbox). Click top and check 'Network', then click again and select Setup.

    2. choose the network at the top tab in the window that opens and locate your HotSync name in the list. Make sure it is checked.

    3. press the button of TCP/IP and look for the IP listed for "main PC address. Write it down.

    4. turn on the Wifi on your Palm and you connect to your router.

    5. on your Palm, select the HotSync program and press the word "Network" over the HotSync icon in the middle of the screen. Below, enter the IP address that you noted in step 3. (Include periods!).

    6. tap the HotSync icon big above the IP address and hang in there!

    7. If you stand and nothing happens try a HotSync cable, then retry the HotSync Wifi. Sometimes, information is to be transferred from your PC once you check the network option. Also, don't forget to watch for any activity of firewall ask you questions about "HotSync.exe tries to access your hard drive" etc. You may need to define a rule to allow him to.

    On your TX, check these settings in the drop in Hotsync:

    Modem Sync: network

    LanSync: LANSync

    Network configuration: (Wifi should be listed as one of the networks)

  • Agenda hangs up PDS before October 2008 and July 2009

    Palm Desktop v. 6.2.2 software.

    OS: Windows XP Pro

    Smartphone: Palm Centro (Verizon)

    My calendar is configured to display the month view at the start of the PDS app on my computer. If I click the back button on the PDS then that in the monthly view, the app will hang and end up trying to go from October 2008 to September 2008. If I try to go forward from July 2009 to August 2009 in the monthly view, the app will also hang and end.

    Sorry, I'm not sense enough to understand the error signature. Here's some of what is reported: AppName: AppVer palm.exe: 6.2.2.0 ModName: ModVer datebook.dll; 6.2.1.0 offset: 0003d95e.

    Yes, I'm able to do a successful hot sync with my Palm Centro. You have any ideas? Thank you!

    Have you tried runnig dbfixit on the device to see if there is corruption? There may be corruption in the Agenda which is the origin of the problem. Install and run dbfixit on the device. If there are errors, ECVx has the errors manually or buy the program and do it fix it for you. Once the data are repaired on the device, set the Pocket lines replaces desktop and sync.

    If there is no corruption on the device, then Palm desktop must be 'clean' uninstalled and reinstalled. During the reinstallation, do not synchronize and just finished the installation. Once installation is complete, create the Palm desktop user name that you have in the upper right of the screen in hotsync on your device. Together on handheld hotsync conduit replaces desktop and then sync.

    Here are the instructions for XP to uninstall "own."

    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    is happening. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or
    A Palm. Highlight your Palm Desktop user name and right click and copy.
    Then, go to the desktop of your PC, right-click on a blank spot block and select.

    If this is the first time, you install Palm desktop and encounter a problem, go to the previous step.

    For Palm desktop 6.2, look in the following location for folders and files, my documents, desktop PalmOS. You will find the username folder in this place.

    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove anything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop on your computer. As the folder above, remove the Palm folder. Once this is done, you need to delete some registry keys
    your registry PC operating system.

    Word of warning, go here and removing the wrong thing can cause your PC
    No start, crashing and deleting programs and data. If you feel
    you're not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them all
    Should be deleted. To keep your current registry settings, we have a backup of the registry.

    On the PC, go to start and run Type "regedit" without the quotes

    Select WORKSTATION, browse to the file--> export. Should appear with a save as
    box. Current place of residence is very well should be in My Documents, or you can change in a location that you will remember. In the file name box, type "Regbackup [todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Then, the most difficult part.

    The best way to ensure that your work with the right key, select the key that is installation quick palm and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are
    make sure you. Say Yes. Do the same for all the keys below.

    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.

    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of the theses reg keys won't be here)
    But if they remove them)

    * Installation quick HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm
    * Transfer of files Robotics\PalmOne HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.
    * Robotics\Pilot Office of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm

    Then restart your computer

    Then, reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If she asks
    you for a user name, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right of the screen to hotsync.

  • HotSync with vista 64-bit and Tungsten E2

    I've been on with Dell and Palm technicians with no luck!  I do not see why I have to pay more for help when the pda has worked just fine with the years usb xp for more then a year!

    Enough of the b * hing. ... the problem I hope some can help me with.  After that I installed all the software for bluetooth Dell and Palm, I go through the steps of synchronization.  The laptop has received the name of the pda and pda bears the name of the computer, but will not be synchronized.  The message I get is "Cannot start the HotSync operation because the port is currently in use by another application"...  I take the bluetooth works, because they know each other names...  Can someone help me please!  I need to get this problem fixed as soon as POSSIBLE... I've been with her for too long.  I really want to buy another device, but if the Palm and not suports old tech, why go with them again?

    Sorry... I seem to not be able to help me with tears... Please don't turn back becase of this one...

    Thank you!!!

    Hello, I certainly understand how this issue can be frustrating, it is quite complex, but I can certainly be helpful with this issue. First of all, I would recommend closing all applications / programs on the PC and unplug the Tungsten E2. Then go into the hotsync Manager settings (open the hotsync application manager and right-click on the hotsync Manager icon in the lower corner of your task bar, you will see two (2) arrow invertly to another) after opening hotsync manager, click settings => connections => and make sure that the following two (2) are "checked" those are bluetooth and serial (com3). After making these changes click done. Then, using your Tungsten E2 access applications screen and select Preferences-online bluetooth and check to see if your PC is listed in your devices in trust. If the name of your PC is not listed in your device to trust, your hang up! If the PC is listed in the secure devices perform a hotsync.

    Also, I recommend take a look at the following Article, please click or manually type the following URL in your web browser: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New, k = PalmSupportKB, t is ooccase, case = obj (49229), varset = to: breakfix

    Hope this helps, if not let me know!

  • HotSync over Bluetooth but no cable

    I have a Centro phone.

    He hotsyncs fine via bluetooth on my Vista laptop connection.

    I just got a laptop HP mini with Windows XP on it.  When I change the type of hotsync for station host/cable to the phone and press the hotsync button, everything hangs to this message number 2.

    Any ideas?

    When you hotsync and he hung up as you describe, this usually indicates corrupted data. What you can do, is go to this link http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm and download DBFixit on your PC. You will then need to go into the Hotsync Manager and set lines calendar and Contacts to do nothing. And then synchronize the device that will install DBFixit on your Centro. Once it is there, you can run it and it will tell you where the corrupted data and you can remove it and then it must synchronize your data. The download is free, but if DBFixit there like 20 or more corrupt pieces of data, you can buy DBFixit (I think it's like 12.95 or more) you can run it again and it will find and fix all corrupted for you data. If the free download is only one or two corrupt elements, it will tell you which ones you can go find them and delete manually yourself, then synchronize. If the link above does not work, you can copy and paste into your browser. I hope this helps...

  • HotSync with the Agenda

    My Palm T | X hotsyncs perfectly with my computer Win XP pro with each application except the agenda.  When the Agenda is selected for synchronization, desktop and handheld computer hangs at the point 2 of the 12.  Does anyone have a solution?  No, I don't use Outlook but uses the desktop 6.2.

    Thanks for your thoughts

    Tom

    Hello Tom_Gore, welcome to the Palm support community.

    This question was asked several times here... two ways to solve the problem.

    1 do a HotSync with the conduit for defined agenda on "Desktop replaces handheld.  This will write own copies of what you have HotSynced to your PC to your TX.

    2. download and install DBFixit to pimlicosoftware.com.  The free download will scan your TX for corruption and will fix some problems.  Others can request the subscription of the program to repair the damage.
