How can I clean my system?

Over the years I have accumulated many files, with many pictures, scattered through my main drive.  I really need to clean house, but I don't know how.

Is it possible to explore all the pictures on the disc and compare them against all the photos in my organizer, to determine which are already in the organizer and which are not?

I would have preferred an automated procedure if possible, but if not, can someone please tell me how to do it manually?  I'm still in PSE 4.0.

Thank you very much
Zapatero

The general idea of the workflow could be:

  1. -use the Organizer to move the files catalogued to a new location on the computer or another DHM,
  2. -pictures "not cataloged" would remain in place and may be reviewed and processed later.

For the first step, it is a removal tool in the Organizer. I never had any problems with it, but others have reported problems. If you choose, try to make records rather than of the whole 'My images' moving...

But I recommend rather a backup, then restore to a new location. The problem of .tly missing perhaps prematurely due to the interruption of the process. It is written at the end of the process. Be patient and wait, even after the completion message, until the organizer was receptive again. If you can see the .tly, you're safe.

With this backup, you are safe, and for maximum security, you can restore the catalog elsewhere under a new catalog name to be 100% sure.

When the catalog is restored elsewhere and checked, there is no risk to erase all the images from the Organizer. You can do this for the entire catalog (select all Ctrl A and delete with "also delete disk") or files if you prefer.

The second stage (cleaning) can be done either by the Windows Explorer with the Organizer, and you are in no hurry to do so.

If you choose the Organizer, create a new temporary catalog and import what remains in significant folders such as "my pictures". This will help you remove unwanted images and maybe spend the good remaining to a new folder for ulterior easier import in your catalog restored.

The final step after cleaning, reimport the remaining files on the restored catalog. The organizer can find duplicates that it won't matter, but do not count on it.

    Hello alexanderdiack,

Product license remains for always with the product. It can be cancelled by Microsoft, but it is very likely. If your product (used for activation) key was having problems then you would get a message on the screen of your PC to the effect that necessary to reactivate Windows.

Unless you have a support plan prepaid or you raise a support ticket Microsoft will ever contact you. Obviously, you should contact your company credit card and to tell them what happened. They may be able to stop the payment to this company.

A give them remote access to your computer? If Yes, then your system has been compromised and I would say that your reinstall Windows from scratch.

If you don't give them remote access, then, Yes, by all means, as a measure of protection, change all your passwords. It would be wise to change banking passwords online too.

You will need to go on the manufacturer of your pc and then ask for a windows xp disk and drivers. This will give you a new copy, but not out of the box state. For an out of the box, get a recovery disk. Just answer what you want.

I'm sorry while shouting did not mean too.  Well I use to be able to watch videos and burn and watch TV on internet, now it used to me let burn, and it won't let me watch my DVDs on the pc and internet tv stops constantly.  I had a problem about six months ago, and the computor guy deleted all my files that he said so he could install a new thank you windows

I know you didn't want to scream... Not to be too critical, but it really looks like you need a new 'computer' man as it is inexcusable to erase data files when you install a new operating system, especially if it does not create a backup disk or files.   Having to reinstall programs is normal, but the data must never be lost.

You apparently have different issues that might be related to malicious software and drivers a bad or hardware problems for your computer.  I recommend that you take a small reputation of the computer "mom & pop" type computer store to have your repairs.  Big box stores, such as Staples, Best Buy, etc. are NOT reputable in computer repair.  Take installation discs you have for the computer, and a good description of what is happening.

Reformatting a hard drive should be considered a last resort to solve a problem with a computer system. The hard drive can be reformatted and reinstalled the operating system, using the system PC Suite hard disk recovery. Reformatting the hard drive will overwrite all data on the disk. To preserve the data, back up the data of the user as; letters, leaves of calculation, graphics and emails to an external storage device before you reformat the disk. If the PC does not work in the Windows operating system, see reformatting since the recovery disks .
Do the following to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
    1. Connect the PC to the power adapter.
    2. Close all programs.
    3. Click Start , click principally made programs , select System Restore and click on the PC recovery .
    4. When the recovery options are offered, select the option to perform the Recovery of PC and click Next .
    5. The PC will restart.
    6. When the recovery of the PC of welcome message, click OK to continue.
    7. In the system recovery Panel, select System Recovery . By default, the system will perform a complete reformat and will destroy all user data.
    8. Restart the PC when prompted.
As alternative method for the steps above, click Advanced Options , select the destructive recovery option and click Next to begin the reformatting process.
The PC is in original factory State and all data in the system, such as the place and the date must be reconfigured.

NOTE: any software "trial offer" has been included in the original factory image, it will be reinstalled, but it won't work (the test period will have expired).  If so any trial software is a security antivirus software or others, before connect you to the Internet, you must uninstall (using an uninstall tool provided by the manufacturer if available antivirus software) and then install your own anti-virus software.  So, you should download the uninstallers necessary and installers (or buy the software on CD) using another machine before starting this project.

  • How can I clean my story of the Connector tool?

I have some links not more used in the history of my link tool. How can I clean this history of better organization?

    Acrobat Pro XI

    Hi Pedro,

There is no such feature in Acrobat to remove the history of the link.

However, you can manually remove the link from the registry.

I recommend you back up your registry before performing this step.

Open Regedit on your system and locate this key: HKCU > software > Adobe > Adobe Acrobat > DC > WebLinkEditURL > cWebLinkOptions

Once you open this key, you would probably see the string values that contains the URL that you entered in the past, and you can these values a right-click and choose to delete these values.

The key is valid for DC Acrobat, if you are using an earlier version of Acrobat, you can replace "DC" with the previous version.

    Kind regards

I have a mac pro 3.1. How can I transfer the system to a new and bigger drive? The old drive is much too small.

I'm not familiar with your model computer, but there are several ways to do so.  If the computer can accommodate multiple disks, you can install the new drive next to the former.  If she does not accept another disk, you can in these external adapters for about $30, which allow you to attach a bare drive to a computer with USB.  Then, you clone the internal drive to the new. Cloning is a special form of the copy.  It copies all files including startup system files so that your new drive is essentially identical to the first.

E-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

Help us understand what "I lost the ability to restore the system" actually mean for you...

Are you unable to launch/open the system restore?
Are you unable to create a new Restore Point manually?
Your system restore calendar is empty dates?
You preform a restore and get a message that has failed or nothing has changed?

If the restore in safe mode will not do, keep reading:

It would be useful to know a few things about your system:

What is your system brand and model?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

What do you see (exactly) that you don't think you should see, and when you see it?

What do not you think that you should see?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

  • How can I check my system ' clock

    Separated from this thread.

How can I check my system ' clock.    and my CMOS BATTERY?   Help!

    First question: laptop or desktop?

Desktop computer.  Very easy.  Go down to the store and buy a 2032 button battery.  I buy them in the stores to a dollar when they.  Turn off your computer completely. Remove the power cord.  Hold the button for 7 seconds.  Open the case.  You will see the button battery.  Use some kind of very small eyeglasses screwdriver to remove the battery.  Push the new.

Restart your computer and press F2 to access the CMOS and set your clock.  The computer may take longer to start because he will have lost all of its original settings and will have to restore them.

These batteries last about 5 years and then start to fail.   The symptoms are difficult to diagnose.  I have change in my desktops at least every five years.  When I change, I use a felt fine to mark the month and day on it.

Laptop: not so easy.  It depends on where it is in your computer and how it is difficult to make.  Some of them are under the cover that you lift to access the hard drive or memory.  Others require the partial dismantling of the PC.  Most of them is the same 2032 batteries, but is locked in a plastic cover with the cold of wire soldered to the battery.  The sons have a plug on the end that must hold the plug on your computer. These you can find on Amazon or the OEM.  They won't be cheap.

Check the clock:  Click once on the clock/calendar at the bottom right. Click on change.  Click the Internet tab.  Click on change settings.  You will find the app that will automatically synchronize your system clock every week.  I use the option of time - b.nist.gov.  Who uses the clock Atomic US Government time labs.
