  You may need to contact Dell support about the capacity of the disc you have. According to the manufacturer, a recovery disk can have options to reinstall everything, backup and reinstall, wipe and reload to factory State, etc.. Manufacturer recovery methods are very different to a normal installation of Vista, and even other system integrators, Dell support is therefore really where you should ask these questions.

  Reinsert the disc and see what options you are presented with initially.

  If you use the Windows 7 Home Premium DVD Dell reinstallation it will automatically apply the Dell OEM SLP activation. In short, a product key is entered from the DVD and active if and only if the BIOS is validated by Dell to perform Windows 7.   At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
