How do I update a Satellite C660 PSC0QE BIOS from linux

No idea how I can update a PSC0QE C660 of linux? It works really well, but the keyboard problem is very annoying.

You cannot update the BIOS win Linux-based!
You must use Windows to Win-BIOS update.

  • Satellite C660-13R - BIOS update problem

    Hi all

I was updating the BIOS on TOSHIBA SATELLITE C660-13R of 64-bit windows 7. Downloaded driver toshiba web. To halfway the portable installation hangs. I left it for 40 minutes to run, but he did not return to the normal state. As the motherboard fan began to move at high speed, I decided to take out the battery. Result when I power my laptop back I 1 beep from the motherboard and a black screen.

    Can someone help me please?

Of course, the BIOS update procedure has not. Something was wrong during the update process and it seems that the EMRPOM module was not properly flashed.
This is the reason why the laptop is no longer.

    Possible solution?
Well, if EMPROM isn t damage, it should be possible to re-flashing the BIOS module once more, using special version of BIOS and crisis disk BIOS.
Usually the authorized Toshiba maintainer in your country should be able to re-flash of the module using this disc of crisis.

I also read in this forum that some people managed to re-flash EPROM module using some 3rd party crisis disk found somewhere in the internet but it still does not
The ASP will therefore probably be your last resort

However, to use the forums advanced search option to find related discussions on the crisis disk BIOS could be interesting for you

  • Re: How to disable bluetooth on Satellite C660

I have a toshiba satellite c660 laptop and windows 7(32 bit) is installed on it. Recenntly I installed the utility on this following drivers

    (1) Bluetooth Monitor - v4.07 for windows 7
    (2) Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba - v8.00.03 (T) for windows 7

Bluetooth works fine but the problem is when I right click on the bluetooth system icon and select Disable bluetooth function, it turns off (turns red) a few seconds and turns on again automatically. I don't want to keep my bluetooth on all the time I want to turn it on only when I need it.

so is there a way by which I can toggle the bluetooth to my will?

Usually, you can disable and enable the Bluetooth functionality by using the FN + F8 key combination.

    Try this!

  • Satellite C660-1TT - BIOS problems

    Hi all...

I sat and would update the bios for my Toshiba Satellite C660-1TT (PSC1QE-01D006N5)

Sloopy as I was, I left the computer to get a coffee, * obviously one of my children was there * and press a few buttons. This resulted in the computer 'frozen' after a while I was forced to turn off.

Now change back the time and date each time I start the computer, and I can´t get the wifi to work.
I tried to reinstall the bios again but then get the message that I already have the same or more recent bios and installation is complete.

Someone who can tell if I wrong somehow the computer into thinking it is a newer version or the mabye bring in the former and then update?

    Grateful for any help! Robert

    (excuse my bad English)

    Hello

To my knowledge it is not possible to downgrade the BIOS in windows mode, because you will always have a notification, this new version is already installed.
To my knowledge the ASP technician Toshiba may downgrade the BIOS but only using the traditional version of BIOS (BACK).

But I recommend to test this workaround solution.
Shut down the laptop. Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Now let the laptop disconnected for a longer period of time, I think about 3-4 hours
Then plug the battery adapter and ac and access the BIOS by pressing F2 to turn on/off the unit.
Here, you must set the default BIOS (F9) and save the changes.
Now, start Notepad and check how it would work.

Usually, the date and time resets because the CMOS battery is empty. But I can't imagine that this could be a problem here, however, you can reload the CMOS battery running the laptop on area for 18 to 20 hours. During this time the laptop must be ONE.

With the lspci command $ tells me that my driver is RTL8876. I installed a RTL8892CE but works well. It disconnects all the time.

    Hi lucapepile,

The problem is that on the Web from Toshiba site are alone Windows disks because Linux isn't taken in charge

I think that you should look for help on some Linux forums. Maybe they can help you find a suitable driver for your wireless card. Wireless network adapters are used in many different laptops so I put t think that it s a Toshiba linked correctly.

Finally and most importantly, I found this:

  • How can I update by Satellite M100 to Win8?

I have downloaded W8 and tried to update on Vista Home premium. At the end of the installation, there was an error message that Windows installation has failed, and that the previous version of Windows is being restored.

The machine is a Satellite M100, PSMAAA-026007, with CPU T2350 series.
When the Windows 8 Upgrade Wizard was executed, part of the report was that NX was not lit, and installation will attempt to put on during the installation. It is assumed that, in this, it has failed.
I had already downloaded and installed the last update of the BIOS for this laptop that I could find.

If the installation failed due to NX just having not because the CPU/BIOS doesn't support NX, is it possible to install a different CPU, what will be.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Maybe a stupid question in the beginning but is your M100 supported for Win8?
Have you checked it on the Toshiba support page?

  • How diassembly to clean the Satellite C660

    Hello

    I have toshiba C660-1u1.
I want to know how disaseembly to clean the processor and the fan.
A manual disassembly or step by step.

    Concerning

    Hello

I would not recommend to disassemble the laptop only to clean the fans.
Disassembly is delicate and you will lose the warranty.
But it is important to know that you can clean the fans using a jet of compressed air. It's good enough to get dust and debris removed cooling modules.

    Hello

BIOS update requires the VAP (value added package) and all the security tools should be put off.
Here are full instructions of the update to the BIOS:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=60

You can also check if new OS install this fix because this problem could be related to confused operating system, you know, but first try reinstalling the VAP and make sure you use the good BIOS.

In the worst case you will need to contact the Toshiba authorised service provider in order to solve this problem.

To my knowledge, a special crisis disk BIOS is required for reflashing the EMPRO module.
Some people were abele to create this disc using a few 3rd party apps but it wasn't always so I guess you have to contact service engineer has set.

  • Satellite C660 - Corrupt BIOS

I tried to update the BIOS of 1,00 to 1,20 yesterday through WinPhlash64, and it froze at halfway through the writing process.

Online, I read that there is a crisis recovery mode and a utility program from Phoenix who can help to reflash the BIOS... but for different satellite models (e.g., A350). I found the guide [here | http://forum.notebookreview.com/toshiba/469337-toshiba-satellite-a350-bios-recovery-phoenix.html].

Anyone know if it will work and * why * Toshiba do not welcome the original BIOS 1.00 version on the product page for this particular model?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hello

I can t tell a lot about the crisis for the BIOS recovery tool because whenever I did a BIOS update it worked properly, so I've never had a problem.

What I can say is be careful with these tools: you could destroy the whole ROM module and I believe that nobody has tested this tool on of Toshiba C660.

This BIOS recovery can be a service allowed because they have special tools to Toshiba, so I think in your case, I would like to get in touch with the guy to clarify the problem and they can help you get rid of it.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite C660-cannot boot from ODD

    Hi all

hope someone can help me with this.

I'm trying to put a new hard drive in a C660 but can't the 'boot from cd' option no matter what I do.

If I press F2, I get the windows boot manager with an option.
    Windows 7

If I go to F8, I get the advanced boot options.
    SafeMode ect. No CD option

F12 takes me to Windows error with 2 options recovery
    Start repair installation (recommended)
    Start windows normally

Also tried 0 on power, which gives just the F2 and F12 options.

Can someone tell me how to boot from the cd?

    Thank you very much

    * @ Said *.
I assume you mean the flashing cursor in the upper left corner. Is this OK
The blinking cursor indicates mostly a drive HARD or RAM problem/failure.
Check in the BIOS if your HARD drive is recognized correctly.

In addition, you can use some diagnostic tools such as Windows Drive Fitness Test (WinDFT) and DFT (Drive Fitness Test)
In case the HARD disk is OK, I would recommend RAM
