How do they manage Time Machine to avoid an attack of ransomeware?

I mean that my external backup hard drive must be disconnected except when cooking actually near the top of my data. If I do this, Time Machine will suffer?

Let Time Machine alone, why are you concerned about the attacks of ransomeware and have you read viruses, Trojans, Malware - and other aspects of Internet Security ?

  • How to remove backups Time Machine to a specific drive

    I can't find how to better use Time Machine in my situation. Here is my configuration:

    I have a 6 TB external drive dedicated as a Time Machine backup. It backs up my internal drive as well as the three external drives (A, B, C). Player "A" is always connected and is constantly supported, but readers 'B' and 'C' are linked only from time to time to archive older files.

    I recently made a few changes on the disc 'B' and left connected so it was saved, but Time Machine tells me I don't have enough room... it seems he's trying to save the whole 1.3 TB of data rather than the 15 GB or if I've changed.

    I'd like to time Machine would be just delete old backups from the 'B' drive specifically, but except that, what I would do is manually delete older backups for just the "B" drive get rid of enough space to do a new backup, but I get an error when you try to delete the files off the backups. How can I get rid of backups for a specific player?

    Thank you!

    Visit Time Machine FAQ of Pondini helps with Time Machine. You will use the Time Machine application in your Applications folder for managing backups. There is an excellent explanation on the site linked above that explains how to remove backups or backup files.

  • How are they managing storage Flash on my Macbook Pro?

    Hello, I have storage problems with my macbook pro, simply because I miss. I went through and eliminated a lot of my videos and photos because that's mainly what I use this for, but my storage is full. How to clear up the flash storage?

    For the other category in the display of information storage, see this support article. If the display appears to be inaccurate, try to rebuild the Spotlight index of the boot volume ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.)

    Empty the trash if you don't have it already done. If you use iPhoto, emptying his trash internal everything first:

    ▹ iPhoto empty the trash

    In pictures:

    ▹ Show of the recently deleted ▹ file delete all

    Do the same thing in other applications like Aperture, with an internal feature of the trash. Then, restart the computer. Temporarily, which will free up space.

    According to the documentation from Apple, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the boot volume (as shown in the Infolog) for normal operation, not the mythical 10%, 15% or any percentage. You also need enough space to allow the growth of the data over. There is little or no advantage in terms of performance to get more free space than the minimum Apple recommends. Storage space you'll never use is wasted space.

    When Time Machine backs up a Mac laptop, some free space will be used to make a snapshots the, who are backups of deleted files recently. The space occupied by the local snapshots is declared as available by the Finder and should be considered as such. In the view of storage of the information system, snapshots appear them as backups. The snapshots are deleted automatically when they expire or when free space becomes less than a certain level. You don't need to usually and should not, remove snapshots them yourself. If you have followed the bad advice to disable snapshots the running a shell command, you may have ended up with a large amount of data in the other category. Ask for instructions in this case.

    See this support article for some easy ways to free up storage space. A common waste of space is old backups iTunes to mobile devices. As shown in this support article, select the devices tab in the iTunes preferences window, select the backup that you want to remove and click on delete the backups. Keep at least a backup of each device you use yet.

    You can, if you wish, use a tool such OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and discover what is take up space. You can also delete files with it, but not unless you don't know you know what you remove and that all data is stored safely. This means that you have several backups, not one. Note that the ODS only works with OS X 10.8 ("Mountain Lion") and later versions.

    IMPORTANT: This comment is neither a recommendation nor an endorsement of any third party software. You should always do your own research to determine if the unknown software is safe and useful. Don't take the word of anyone, including mine.

    Deletion of files inside a photo library or iTunes will damage the library. Such a library should be changed within the application that created it. It is the same for e-mail files.

    Go further than if the problem is not resolved by the steps above.

    ODS cannot see the whole file system when you run simply by double-clicking; He sees only the files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you must run it as root.

    Back up all the data now.

    Install the application in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it runs.

    Triple-click any where in the text line below on this page to select, then copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

    security execute-with-privileges /A*/OmniDiskSweeper.app/*/M*/* 2>&-

    Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

    ☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

    ☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    Paste in the Terminal window by pressing command + V. You will be asked for your login password.

    The application window opens behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will finally show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.

    I do not recommend that you make a habit of doing. Do not delete anything as root. If something should be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then remove by safer alternatives. If in doubt, leave it alone or ask for advice.

    When you are finished with the app, he quit and also to leave Terminal.

  • How much space for Time Machine backups

    Hello

    Is there a rule for how much space you may want to allow for Time Machine backups?

    I would like to partition the drive to have a room reserved for Time Machine back ups only.  I realize that it is a personal preference.

    Each individual backup occupies approximately 790 GB.  But somehow I have 6 months of backups that supposedly take up only 880 GB on the disk.

    At this time the backups of my other drive back to 6 months in time.

    Fortunately, I never had to go back a few more days to recover a file.

    Is there a reasonable amount of space to allocate for backups, based on current usage of disk?

    Thank you

    Minimum would, of course, the size of the internal drive.

    Double the quantity is sufficient

    Triple the amount if you want a value years from TM backups

  • How can I PREVENT Time Machine back on the wake from sleep?

    I leave my machine on the work week and when I finished the night, I SLEEP there.

    In the morning, he has no need to backup first thing. But Time Machine insists on execution from the moment I have a mouse and he wakes up from his sleep.

    It was fine when it was new and fast, but now he is old and slow (especially - but mostly because I really push to the limit with multiple Safari Windows opens and executes a large number of software design at the same time, I have to do for work).

    My question is simple:
    How to tell Time Machine to does not have a return on the wake from sleep? or;
    Say this do not back up from 06:00 to noon? or;
    Is it a third party plug in that allows me to customize the time Machine more?

    Another idea on what just said or it to no return for even the first hour or two when it comes in the morning or even in any time to sleep during the day. Automatically.

    I also have my drive main external file mirroring AND use Super Duper once per day to fool the internal drive (I total plan control) AND back up all files off site (I total plan control). But, Time Machine is also always at hand to get it done. If only I had a little control over it, so she did not have the necessary step back up the minute I sit down. Significantly slow down my work time productive morning!

    Time Machine really shouldn't bog down your machine that badly.

    If Time machine running interferes with your ability to use the machine, then something else is wrong. It shouldn't affect performance in this way.

    If it's all just "annoying"... Well... Why is this a big deal?

    Maybe you should run a report Etrecheck and post the results here. If something is moving your system, which can help us identify what it is.

  • How to set up Time Machine via a HARD drive connected to the USB port on the router?

    Hi all

    I have an Arris Touchstone Data Gateway DG1670A/TW for my internet / wireless which was provided by my ISP.  There is a USB port at the back of the router and I was wondering if I could connect an external HARD drive to save the two Macbook Pro that I have in my house through Time Machine wireless?  If Yes, could someone provide me the details regarding how to set this up properly?

    I too, was thinking about making a 4 TB HARD drive - 2 and wanted to partition so that half of it would work for Time Machine and the other half I would be able to store photos that I take on my digital SLR and are in Lightroom.  Could this be a problem at all? I partition? or Time Machine just to use the available space and delete older backups to make room for additional photos?

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    A device third-party network attached storage (NAS) or a router is unsuitable for use with Time Machine.

    Apple has published a specification for network devices that works with Time Machine. No third party provider, AFAIK, does meet this specification.

    Apple does not endorse any device third-party network for use with Time Machine. See this support article.

    Network backup, use as destination an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or a 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only 802.11ac base stations support time Machine, not older model.

  • How to recover the Time Machine keychain

    I had all sorts of problems with OS 10.11. So I deleted and reinstalled a 'clean' version I was able to retrieve several files of my time machine, but can't seem to get something on the old Keychain data, in particular, the passwords of a previous backup time Machine. In addition, I think that Apple has hidden the user/library, so I can't find it on Time Machine.  I had seen other assignments with regard to this topic, but I think that the most recent is 2013/14.

    Maybe I misunderstood what Time Machine is supposed to do?

    If I have to, I wouldn't mind duty copy every password and paste in websites I need to access.

    Is this even possible or do I have to go to each site and request a new password?

    Thank you

    Three ways to make the House/library folder Visible

    A. this method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder, and paste the following at the command prompt:

    chflags nohidden ~/Library

    Press RETURN.

    B. click on the desktop, press the Option (⌥) key, select library in the Finder menu go.

    C. go to the folder in the Finder menu select go. Paste the following text in the path field:

    ~/Library

    Click the OK button.

    There is more than a bunch of file on the computer. The major is a key ring, located in the folder/Home/Library folder. The second keychains folder is located in the folder /Library/ to the root of your hard drive. Both should be in your Time Machine backup, if you did a full backup of the system. To help you recover these please see FAQ Time Machine of Pondini for help with Time Machine. It is a vast site with almost everything that you need for using Time Machine. You will not find a better resource for Time Machine in one place. Due to the disappearance of James Pondini is the site is no longer updated. Therefore, some information may be somewhat outdated. But you will find the method to restore a single file or a folder from a Time Machine backup on his site.

    Want to MacPro Lion 10.7.5 backup using a usb flash drive.  Do not use time machine. Where should I start?

    If you are going to only be backup the contents of your home folder and installed applications drag, you can drag - copy for the backup volume. Do this for all applications and certain elements of your home folder requires the backup volume to be in Mac OS Extended format.

    If you're going to be back up the entire system, use the disk utility's restore function or a product such as Carbon Copy Cloner.

  • How to limit my Time Machine backup size?

    Hi, I have a 3 TB Time Capsule. My macbook uses all the 3 TB for backups. I would like to limit the size of the Time Machine backups to 1.5 TB and use the rest for my own files. Is there any setting or application in App Store to limit the size of the backups?

    Unfortunately no, if you ask on the backup using Time Machine.

    It is not officially supported by Apple, but you may be able to change the size of the space allowed for a backup by using this trick:

  • How do they affect times a clip and the clip from movie of child in the same function?

    I have really two questions: how both affect a clip and the clip from movie of child in the same function? and how to get information of a component in one service for another?

    My basic setup is a clip of choice of fonts, one on each image: "bodyText_mc." Each of these frameworks has a clip of the child 'bodyText_mc.bodyText' with choice of alignment for the police. For example, the user chooses 'Script' in the first ComboBox, then selects "Align right" in the second. (This text is static, because I need more great design control I can get with dynamic text.)

    First of all, I have a combobox "cbBodyFont" that I use to go from one image to the image on movieclip 'bodyText_mc.' It works fine:

    cbBodyFont.addEventListener (Event.CHANGE, changeBodyFont);

    function changeBodyFont(e:Event):void {}

    var bodyFontFrame:String = cbBodyFont.selectedItem.data;

    bodyText_mc.gotoAndStop (bodyFontFrame);

    }

    However, if I also want to assign a child element of "bodyText_mc", like this:

    cbBodyFont.addEventListener (Event.CHANGE, changeBodyFont);

    function changeBodyFont(e:Event):void {}

    var bodyFontFrame:String = cbBodyFont.selectedItem.data;

    bodyText_mc.gotoAndStop (bodyFontFrame);

    bodyText_mc.bodyText.gotoAndStop (2);

    }

    It won't let me. Add a command to the clip of the child 'bodyText_mc.bodyText' runs to a null object reference error. I can affect the parent element or the child element, but not both. Why?

    And part 2 of my question:

    I have an another combobox "alignBodyCb" that I use to go from one image to the image in this child clip "bodyText_mc.bodyText". The user selects Center, left, or right alignment.

    alignBodyCb.addEventListener (Event.CHANGE, changeBodyAlign);

    function changeBodyAlign (e: Event): void {}

    var elementAlignBodyFrame:String = alignBodyCb.selectedItem.data;

    bodyText_mc.bodyText.gotoAndStop (elementAlignBodyFrame);

    }

    The problem is that when the user switches to a new image of "bodyText_mc" with the changeBodyFont function, always, it goes to frame 1 of the child clip "bodyText", change the font, but back to the alignment of the centre. I need the font combobox to "remember" the active data from the drop-down list alignment, can still send the clip of the child to that frame. What I want is something like this (although it obviously does not):

    cbBodyFont.addEventListener (Event.CHANGE, changeBodyFont);

    function changeBodyFont(e:Event):void {}

    var bodyFontFrame:String = cbBodyFont.selectedItem.data;

    bodyText_mc.gotoAndStop (bodyFontFrame);

    bodyText_mc.bodyText.gotoAndStop (elementAlignBodyFrame); <--(l'image sélectionnée par fonction d'autres combobox)

    }

    alias "go to the frame (do) that they just took and then send the clip of the child to the frame (alignment) they chose earlier."

    Help? If I'm going about this wrong in the first place, I am open to that, too.

    SWF file attached for Visual reference. (Not everything works yet, but the Type of body section is where I concentrate for the moment).

    Just to avoid any confusion in the timeline (not yours, Flash), I recommend alternating the movieclips bodyText of one layer to another with empty frames between those on the same layer.  Funny things can happen when you have adjacent keyframes of the things, and giving them the same name may be composed the strangeness is at stake.

    If kGlad wants to take action to tackle the rendering event thing, it's OK, but whatever it is, I don't think that it is involved in what I mean.

    All I'm saying is that when you go to a particular frame in the bodyText_mc, you must run this second line of code here and not back where you had it.  If you want to move the command for the bodyText movieclip go to a frame inside the bodyText_mc on the frame where it lands in your first line of code.
