How to check ink levels, clean the print heads in Windows 7

We have a range of printers hp psc 1210 xi & win 7 32-bit. How can we check the ink level, clean the print heads, etc. ? I tried to print a test page, but there was no information about it on the ink levels.

Here's how you can print a self-test that you provide ink levels and clean the print head:

  1. From the front panel, press and hold Cancel and then press Color Start.

    Hey elders ~

Why my Officejet Pro8500 A909a short "Clean printhead" feature every time I turn on my printer?  Is there a place I can tell you to STOP?  It's my expensive WASTE.  Help!

    Hi @eschro

You turn off the printer when you are not using it and turn it back on, or are you referring to light once it falls in mode 'sleep'? The following presentation may help explain why the print head cleaning is performed each time you turn on the printer.

The print head nozzles get clogged over time, most commonly by dried ink or microscopic dust particles. Nozzles are kept clean of servicing, including wipe them the surface with a rag rubber, ejecting ink through the nozzles to purge the particles and to prevent drying and pumping with ink to clean the print head. To keep the printer ready to print in color or black, these routines of service generally consume little ink in each cartridge, even if only black or color is used in the document being printed.

Tiny air bubbles form in ink over time and can block the flow of ink in the printhead long duration printers (IIC). In some printers IIC, bubbles of air can be caused by a change in the ink cartridge. Air bubbles can be removed by pumping them out of the print head. When you remove these air bubbles, little ink is also removed. On the IIC systems, multiple colors may use the same print head. When a single color cartridge is changed, some ink is also consumed since the other color ink cartridges using the same print head. - Source

There is no way to disable this feature, but in General, it is best to leave the printer on and allow to maintain on a regular basis, rather than turning off and back on.

I hope that answers your question. Happy Friday, have a great weekend.

  • Problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: clean the print heads each time it is turned on

    Hello everyone,

the printer HP all-in-one Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a - product n. CB022A) clean the print heads whenever I turn it on. This problem affects any HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer, it is not a problem only of this one I bought. It is a boring bug and annoying because each power clean print heads on involves two bad disadvantages:

    1. waste of ink (each heads cleaning process consumes little ink);
    2. too much time (2-3 minutes) to prepare the printer after plugging.

I upgraded my printer with the latest firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR), but the bug is still present.

    At this point, I ask:

    1. There is a way (or procedure) to disable automatic cleaning this useless to all power on?
    2. Can we communicate with the HP engineers or tell me how to contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and request a new firmware updated?

Please don't tell me to leave the printer on all the time or that the printheads to each cleaning power is normal behavior! Where then are power and ink savings claimed for this printer model?

I hope that a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance to everyone will help me!

Maintenance when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads in good health (not blocked). See here for more information.

With respect to energy savings, the printer automatically goes to low power mode when the don't feel not for awhile.  It is not necessary turn the unit on to save energy.

  • power officejetPro 8500 to always clean the print heads

    Hello!

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8500.  I got it specifically so that I would get a large number of pages are printed on the extra large ink cartridges.

However, when I turn off the printer for the night save energy, and then turn it back on the next day morning, the printer goes through a status of "Please wait" in which she appears to clean the print heads at least twice.

And we both know that the print head cleaning consumes a lot of ink.

I have no problem printing.  The printer prints very well.

But, when I look at the ink levels using the solution Center HP, ink fell considerably after this start procedure.

Why?  Why he cleans the head whenever I turn on the printer?   He didn't need it!

    Thank you!

    Computer help

    Hi Jim,.

It's a very good question. When the printer returns to the top, it goes through a maintenance routine to ensure there are no clogged nozzles and all colors are able to print the result of quality.

I have actually never turn off my printers at night in my home office because they don't really use a lot of power (I don't have the exact specification). I would say just to leave the printer on... is not worth saving.

    See you soon,.

I work for HP, but my answer is my point of view.

  • I cleaned the print heads, but the printed letters are still coming from pale grey.

I have a HP Photosmart eStation all in one printer-C510a.  When I print the works are very pale.  I changed the ink cartrideges and cleaned the print heads.  Still very pale.  Any ideas what to do next?

    Hi rab27,.

Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! I understand that when you are printing on your HP Photosmart eStation C510, the output is very pale, you attempted to clean the print heads and replace cartridges without success. In order to better assist you, what is the current operating system you use, Windows or Mac and what version?

I assure you, you are able to make a copy. Can make you a black copy with no problems?

Now we will make sure that you do not have the printer to print in black and white only. Please follow the steps listed below:

    1. go to your Start Menu

    2. Select devices and printers

    3. right click on your C510 and access print options

    4. click on the advanced option

    5. in the section of the characteristics of the printer, make sure that it is not set to print in grayscale

Now, let's go and run HP print and Scan Doctor- designed by HP to offer users the features and troubleshooting problem needed to solve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan the products related to Windows computers.

If you have changed the printing preferences, ran the PSDR HP without success, please continue here: Troubleshooting print quality problems

  • HP Photosmart D5360: check ink levels HP Photosmart D5360 and use Windows 8.1

check the ink levels HP Photosmart D5360 and use Windows 8.1; Windows 7 has a HP Solution Center but Windows 8.1 is not?

    Hi @torbay,

By your post, I see that you have no software to verify the printer ink levels using Windows 8.1. I would like to help you today.

I checked online and there is a software HP Photosmart full feature and driverswho should still support the printer services. If you use the old or Windows Update drivers, remove them and install the latest drivers.

You can also download and run the print and Scan doctor, it can predict the ink levels and services available for the printer. HP printers - help print and scan the doctor for Windows to solve printer problems. Go to the section how can I use the services of diagnosis and cleaning of printer?

For some reason, when I went to my mother for the summer my father decided to use all my ink.  When I left I had only used the printer in the more than 10 times for the school, but when I got home I went to copy my school schedule, and he says that the ink level is really low.  I asked my dad how much he used my printer and he said he just he used to print 'a few pages '.  I told him that he should have used it is more than that and that he now has to get more ink. He then said he did print many pages and that it was not get me ink.  I don't like what he printed I want to just show him that he was a little more than a 'a few pages' and that he must pay for the next thing than ink.  My printer is a Photostat 5510d B111h and I think when I had somehow, I saw the print history but not sure so if someone could tell me please how to see if I can because I have a 2 English reports, a drivers ed in paper and a Spanish test expected from 3 days to 1 week.

  • All-in-one HP Photosmart C309a "Alignment failed" error message even after cleaning the print heads, etc.

About 3 weeks ago before making the error msg above, a large black ink blob appeared on my printed piece of paper.  This product for several sheets later, but kept decreasing in amount.  I continued to print & finally all traces of ink have disappeared.  2 days ago I got a msg of error on "load plain white paper. ", but the paper tray was plain white paper in it.  I have removed the paper, straightened and her successor. As a result, the msg "Alignment failed" appeared.  I went through all the steps HP online information on the treatment of the "alignment failed", including the cleaning of the printheads (the right amount of ink was on it), check the vents of cartridge, etc.  My question is: if I have 4 out of colored inks and a new black ink installed, the alignment is being affected by the old cartridges?  A msg on this appeared on the Control Panel, giving the opportunity to proceed with the old cartridges or install new ones, but be careful that it "cannot allow completion of...» "If 'old' were replaced not.  I need to replace these color cartridges or is it probably another problem, which is print head damaged?

Checked the evacuation & there is no problem, so I tried the informal solution to put the printhead in hot water.  A ran 1 cleaning via / configuration on the printer and finally aligned with success tools.  I waited a while to respond because I wanted to see if the printer should continue to work, and there!

Thank you very much.  I'm happy that I can keep this printer!
