How to defragment 'system' on my HP Desktop?

I can't defragment 'System' on my HP desktop.  I use Windows 7.

C: OS is 0%, D: Recovery is 0%, but the system shows 38% and I can't analyze or defragment the system.  The CPU is running slower & I'm getting a little frustrated.  HP was no help.

Hello

Check with HP Support, their online documentation and drivers, diagnostics,

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded
on your system. For each driver in the list, additional useful information is
Poster: load address of the driver, description, version, product name,.
company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit Maker as replacements and system manufacturer of device which are
the most recent. Control Panel - write - graphics card - device manager
the brand and complete model of your video card - double click - tab of the driver-
Note the version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this can do nothing
MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard
If there are 3rd party with their own software and drivers and the other main device drivers
you have.

Now, go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restore)
and site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get the manufacturer and device
their latest versions. (Look for the system to update the BIOS, Chipset and software updates
Site of the manufacturer here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN -.
REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you are
installation actually appears. This is because that some rollback of drivers before the
later is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a driver - reboot.
Make sure that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW to the device makers DO NOT RUN THEIR
SCANNER - check manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using
the above methods is preferable to ensure the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system
and device manufacturers are located)
http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable driver facilities
in the updates of Windows, which leaves on Windows updates, but it will not be installed
pilots who are generally older and cause problems. If updates provides a new
driver then hide it (right click on it) and then go get new ones manually if
you want.

    Hello

The system partition should not be défragmentée - it contains startup and recovery environment Windows 7 files and will always show as fragmented which is perfectly normal.  Also it has no effect on the performance of your operating system.

On the problem of performance, try the following.

In the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

Then, click on the Start Menu, click computer, left click Local disk C once to highlight, right-click on Local C drive and select Properties.  Click the Tools tab and then click on the button "check the drive for errors.  In the next window make sure that both boxes are checked, then click Start.  Right plan the audit on the next reboot of the system, and then restart the laptop - this process can take several hours before the load in Windows.

Make sure that Firefox is installed correctly.
Open the image (DMG) disk Firefox with a double-click if necessary file and drag the Firefox program folder of the application on your hard drive.
You should not double-click the Firefox application to run from the disk image and drag it out of the DMG file instead.

I would like some tips on how to make system, drv, smaller, including experience with specific software.

I have access to Paragon and Easeus partition software.

What's weird, is that SYSTEM_DRV should not be as big as 55GO. Go ahead and cut it up to 100 MB if you can, 2 GB otherwise.

You can actually shrink this partition while the system is running using in Windows 7 disk management, but up the partition C: will require a tool such as Paragon and Easeus offline.

You need to run a separate cable for audio.

See the following Note of http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Connect-your-computer-to-a-TV

Cables VGA, DVI and component video don't support audio signals. However, HDMI cables are supported, but not all, audio signals compatible HDMI video audio support cards. If your TV has an audio input, you might be able to connect an audio cable separate from their computer directly to the TV card. Otherwise, you need to connect the audio signal to a different device, such as external speakers or your stereo. For more information about sound cards, see sound cards: frequently asked questions.
